CB put me on high alert about an hour ago that Angelina Jolie was at the Berlin premiere of Salt, and that she was wearing, in CB’s words, “a black tube sack”. We’ve both studied the photos, and I can say with pleasure that La Jolie is not, in fact, wearing yet another black strapless “tube sack”. It’s a black halter sack, and it is not all that great. It reminds me a lot of the white Marc Bouwer Angelina wore to the Oscars in 2004 (I know, I know – I have an encyclopedic memory for crap like this) – only the Bouwer dress was cut on a bias around the hips, so it gave what was, in fact, a “sack dress” an illusion of structure. This dress has no such illusion. It’s just a shiny sack.
I can’t even start with La Jolie. She wore a nice jewel tone and everything just a few hours ago! She hasn’t worn black at all for her European tour, and now she’s fallen back into her comfort zone. As others have pointed out, and I agree, Angelina is not now and never was some kind of fashionista. Her red carpet looks have always been… let’s just call them “hit or miss”. I much prefer her style when she’s doing UNCHR stuff in NYC or Washington – nice suits, great coats and sweaters and pencil skirts. She should bring some of that to the red carpet, in my opinion. It’s not against the law to wear separates on the red carpet. Because La Jolie is in a major “evening/cocktail” rut.
And the stringy hair – don’t even get me started. Although, just to defend: CB says it was pouring in Berlin a few hours ago, so maybe she got caught in the rain?
By the way, what’s that one dude doing? He looks like he’s contemplating tying Angie to some train tracks.

Let me just say I am in Angelina Jolie heaven!!! So many pics of her looking fabulous and stunning. I like this dress on Angie. It looks even more impressive when Angie moves, the dress has an elegant sway and its lovely.
LOL Ok I loved Salt but I kinda wished they had a picked a more handsome guy to play her husband. He looks almost dead in that pic.

love the shoes, but that dress…ugh. the top/halter part of it makes her arms looks SO skinny. not flattering at all.
and oh, the hair…guess these pics put to rest all of the did-she-or-didn’t-she wear wigs/extensions for “The Tourist”.
I would love to see her in green like that dress she wore to Cannes when she was pregnant with the twins. Oh well hope springs eternal. Speaking of the twins they were in Europe with her but no new pap pics. Well gotta go ,I guess I ‘ll miss all the negative comments to come Have a nice day everyone.
I think her styles would not look so bad on her if she gained some weight. With some more meat on her frame she would fill things out better, and look better in them. She is just too darn skinny!
Praise – I’m really starting to wonder too – she might be, for all we know. She’s been doing these f-cking sack dresses for so long, I might have missed the Bump Watch.
Surely no one will ever see this comment because I’m always moderated on posts that mention Angelina (only very occasionally on others)… but that guy on the right is hilarious. The epitome of undressing-with-one’s-eyes (hey, it takes care of the fashion problem too). It’s exactly how I’d look if I were allowed to stand that close to her… and hadn’t passed out first.
(I’m ashamed to say that I saw her from afar, alone on a street in NYC with Maddox 8 years ago… and I actually did get too dizzy to come any closer. I was 15 then, and I still kick myself every day about blowing my one shot at meeting her before she became untouchable…)
Maybe I have bad taste but this dress is one of my favs, it is simple and classy and something I would wear to a black tie event. I don’t think she is worried about looking like a sex symbol, she is an Oscar-winning movie star and she dresses as such. Maybe she doesn’t feel like wearing something tight and uncomfortable after spending all day playing on the floor with her babies, I find it refreshing.
Glad someone else mentioned this re: pregnacy. What is the one thing all these dresses have in common, loose fit around the waist.
Even the slightly fitted ones have interesting things going on at the waist line. Hmmm
Or maybe she is in a grecian goddess phase.
I think there might be two reasons why she’s wearing these sack-like dresses.
1) She’s got the baby bump going on
…or…
2) She’s lost a lot of weight and is trying hard to hide it so the tabloids aren’t going to go “ANGIE IS ANOREXIC!! OMGWTF!?” crazy
I’m not an Angie follower, but she seems to be looking increasingly uncomfortable in her skin. She used to have this sexuality and confidence sort of glowed out of her. And in recent pics she looks bored and potentially sick. Maybe that means she’s pregnant again, or that things are stressful at home, or stressful at work, or Aniston’s calling and harassing her. I don’t know what, but she’s much better looking than she has been lately.
she looks so uncomfortable. she’s not dressing to her personality at all. i think it would be fabulous – and she’d probably look better – if she threw on some fitted jeans, major stilettos, and a cute sparkly top – – or a tank/t-shirt with a cheeky message on it or something. maybe a sharp blazer.
jeans, a tight cleavagey chartreuse silk camisole, waist-nipped chartreuse satin blazer, hair in a nicely-styled high-ish ponytail, no bangs, intricate gold drop earrings, strappy gold heels. plum velvet clutch and dramatic dark plum lip, spare makeup otherwise. angie, call me.
that dress doesnt fit her at all and the fabric looks kind of cheap (tho i’m sure it’s not!) – plus the droopy hair, ugh.
I really like this dress. It’s a lot nicer than that shapeless white one she had on the other night. Plus her hair looks so much better down than up.
@Wif– I’m with you. I haven’t been thinking she’s looking too good lately. I think I hate these bangs on her, too.

This dress looks like a comfy nightgown. Looks to me like she’s choosing comfort over all else. As her right. Again. Considering how much she’s traveling/promoting, it isn’t really surprising. Nitpick much?

Yeah, she’s definitely doing stuff to hide her waist area guys. For whatever reason. Even the jewel toned dress had that giant ruffle all the way down the front of it.

I agree she’s not a fashionista, but she is a major movie star and has a team of professional hair/makeup/wardrobe, so why does she rarely look like it?
I don’t buy the “she has kids” excuse that always eventually gets thrown out there – so do lots of celebs, and they manage to still bring it for the red carpet. Look at Heidi Klum.
Heidi is my future baby momma, but she doesn’t always bring it, sorry. She does always bring her finess and charm, just like Jolie. How many times cause someone go on about a person’s fashion. I like what she wears when she’s pregnant and back in her earlier days. Sometimes she pops something off like with the Russian red. Honestly one can only pick on her sparkly sacks, cause otherwise she’s as perfect as a person can get. I like her weight and even her arms are looking thicker. Her weight goes to her butt hips breasts. Not arms, but she looks like shes gotten thicker in the arms. I don’t use the kids excuse. I use the, shes been doing this for over 15yrs, shes probably over the red carpet. Sorry folks .
The hair does look bad, it could of done with some soft waves or something, unless it did and they got wet. I don’t hate the dress, but I don’t love it either. At least it has a different neckline than the strapless dresses she often wears. The shoes look nice, what I can see of them that is.
She still looks beautiful though.
@Lucy Heidi Klum cares more about fashion than Angelina. In the end Angelina’s goal in life isn’t to be a fashionsta, Heidi should always and does look fabulous. She is a model and the host of a show about fashion. Its more apart of who Heidi is then what Angelina is.
Could the awful bangs be camo for an un-‘toxed forehead? Could the reason she eschews the needle be a bambino?

She doesn’t look stunning, but she’s also schlepping around the globe day after day doing promotions. Maybe she’s exhausted and going for comfort? Can’t fault her there…plus, she’ll be a star forever, so she doesn’t play every red carpet like it’s her last.
I love her but really the dress is the least of her problems here and that’s been true IMO in most all of the pics over the last couple of days. She looks exhausted here. Not eating disorder sick and tired, but headache/feeling like crap sick and tired.
ITA with all of those who say that lately she just hasn’t looked comfortable in her own skin. Maybe something is getting to her. The Morton book working its way up the Times Bestseller list, problems at home (not necessarily with Brad- with 6 kids and extended family that could mean anything), future project issues, or the never ending tabloid covers- who knows what it could be? She definitely doesn’t seem like herself lately though.

I don’t hate this dress but she could’ve accessorized it better and at least pulled her hair back into a long sleek ponytail or something. She could’ve worn anything but brown or blue for shoes and she went with those?
I don’t care that she’s a mother of six, she has help. Showing up to these things is part of her job, it’s what helps sell the movie. She’s making me think of how I get dressed when I don’t want to go somewhere. I don’t make as much of an effort as when I’m excited about going somewhere.
She’s a beautiful woman and mother and her style reflects that.
oh I’m sorry to say it- cause I like Angelina (and Aniston too, can you imagine?) but this dress looks really, really cheap (it’s BCBG Max Azria I think). Not a good look imo. And she’s looking uncomfortable in her skin-again.
She looks like she would rather be anywhere else than where she is. Sorry but she gets paid waaaay too much money to look so bored. At the very least she could fake it. She’s an actress afterall…..perhaps just not a very good one.

I’m actually not hating this dress. I think it makes her look more proportioned by elongating her torso, which has seemed very short in her other outfits giving us the illusion that she has a really boxy waist. I don’t think she looks as pretty in the face as usual though… maybe it is the hair.

Um, Mandy… do you have access to another NY Times bestseller list that the rest of us don’t? The Morton book isn’t anywhere on that list and as I am typing this it’s at #281 on Amazon. Not exactly a bestseller by an stretch of the imagination.
BTW I doubt she’d be upset at anything in the Morton book since according to all the reviews it doesn’t say a thing the tabloids haven’t been re-hashing for the past five years.
I think she’s tired (either pregnant or jet-lagged or both) and just wants to go home and rest.

This is the second time in a week I’ve seen her wearing something baggy, the other thing barely hid her thicker-than-usual waist. Methinks Angie is preggo again – the waistline is the first thing to go. Also, thin as she is, she definitely looks a bit meatier than usual in these.

Just thinking someone made a comparison to Heidi Klum; I personally find Angelina beautiful- but I know many people who find her just interesting looking.
Heidi Klum is beautiful and has an amazing body. Sofia V and Halle B also are universally considered beautiful with amazing bodies. Heidi is/was a professional model so not a fair comparison I think.
She is sooooo unattractive in my opinion. Those ugly ass tattoos, fug face…she’s just nasty.

My whole point of bringing up someone like Heidi Klum was not to compare their careers or looks or fashion choices, but simply to point out that it’s POSSIBLE for someone with a lot of kids to still look her best on the red carpet, because I so often see people dismiss Jolie’s red carpet messes with the “she has kids!” excuse. That was it.

I know Angelina wore wigs in The Tourist. Her hair still looks like a wig in these pics. How many people have no part in their hair. This is just a different wig. The dress looks like a sac, not flattering at all.
Yes, it does look like Angelina is wearing a wig here. Her hair changes thickness and length really quickly at times. It’s no way she’s changing extensions that often. She wears those also a lot. I saw some footage of her real hair and it was so thin. She had a very tiny ponytail.
