Hulk Hogan’s son Nick sentenced to 8 months in jail

I am very happy to report that Nick Hogan was just handed down a surprisingly long jail sentence as a result of his guilty plea in his felony reckless driving case. Nick was sentenced to eight months in jail, 500 hours of community service, three years without his driver’s license, and must attend a DUI education class. He could have served up to five years in prison – though considering the leniency often shown celebrities and their offspring, I’m pretty damn surprised Hogan was sentenced to any jail time.

Nick Bollea was sentenced to eight months in Florida’s Pinellas County Jail for felony reckless driving Thursday after pleading no contest in court. A judge also handed down five years probation, 500 hours of community service and a three-year drivers license revocation. Nick will not be able to drink for the duration of his probation, and will attend DUI education classes within one year.

The 17-year-old donned a light colored suit to Pinellas County Court and stared straight ahead as the sentence was read. Sitting behind him was a black-clad Hulk, who prayed during the proceedings and grew teary-eyed, sister Brooke, who wore a top with the shoulders cut out and Hulk’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Linda.

Nick was arrested last November on reckless-driving charges stemming from an August 26 crash. An eyewitness told police that Bollea and a pal were drag racing upwards of 100 mph when Nick’s yellow Toyota Supra slammed into a palm tree. Two hours after the crash, alcohol was detected in his bloodstream.

John Graziano – the passenger in Nick’s car who was severely injured – will most likely spend the rest of his life in a nursing home. His family appeared in court and spoke on his behalf. The Hogan family has never issued much of an apology, nor has Nick publicly taken any responsibility for his actions. In fact the Hogans tried to blame Graziano for his injuries since he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt – not their drunk kid who drag raced and smashed into a tree. Graziano’s family confirmed that Nick has never privately expressed any remorse or taken any responsibility. It’s pretty disgusting.

“My life now consists of 10 hours each day at a hospital watching my son suffer,” John’s father said in a statement during today’s court proceedings. “Nick has shown no remorse for what he’s done for my son.

Added John’s sister: “We have never once heard him apologize for what he’s done or take any responsibility for any of his actions.”

No word on how much time Nick is actually expected to spend in jail. But I’m glad he’s going to at least do some time – and hopefully he’ll spend it actually reflecting on how not to be a loser douche bag from now on.

I feel bad for everybody involved in this situation. Nick is still a young guy, he made a foolish, harmful mistake because he thought he was invincible. just like all young guys do.
I think pleading no contest to the charges is an admition of guilt. Nothing will ever be satisfying to the injured young mans family, they have lost something far greater than an apology will ever make up for.

  2. Ceenitall says:

Guess he is now finding out that he is not above the law. Good for the judge for giving him actual jail time.

I don’t think that pleading no contest is what the family is looking for. He plead that to help himself not to offer any condolences to the family of his friend. While I understand that an “I am sorry” won’t help their son, but it might help to know he cares.

  3. Annicka says:

Maybe he was sentences to 8 months, but he’ll probably only do 2.

  4. Anni says:

an apology won´t change a thing, but it´s something you have to do when you f*cked up big time. he ruined a boys life and didn´t even say he´s sorry. there´s no decency in him. i think he´s actually more bummed about his jail time than about the reason hes going in.

  5. kate says:

i’m sure he will only do about 90 days….douchebag.

  6. CinPin says:

Hopefully they’ll be able to throw him back into jail when he violates his probation. You know there is no way he will stay sober for 5 years.

Also, I hope he gets a nice anal probe by a very large man in jail.

  7. lena says:

yes he deserves the jail time and i’m pretty sure he is sorry…HOWEVER..his friend is/was not a child, everyone knows that they should not get into a car with someone who had to many drinks, you have to take responsibility for yourself. If i willingly get into a car with someone knowing they are drunk and they are capapble of getting hurt or hurting someone else along the way then you have to live with consequences, and unfortunately his friend will be living a sad life. I personally think they were both drunk, but i’m not sure cause i never read about graziano’s blood alcohol level

  8. Cari says:

I agree with everyone, he should have put his big-boy panties on and apologized. And he should be spending some hours with that kid instead of leaving it all up to the parents. After all, HE was the one that ruined this kid’s life.

Karma’s a bitch, Nick. Sleep with one eye open in jail b/c you WILL be someone’s beeyotch.

  9. JennGush says:

I think Nick Hogan is a fruit and I’m glad he got some jail time. While I do think he owes this guy and his family an apology I also agree with lena. It’s not like he held this kid at gunpoint and MADE him get in the car. I’m sure his kid knew Nick had been drinking, he shouldn’t have freaking got in the car in the first place. Of course Graziano’s parents or anyone else is faulting anything on him b/c he is the one that happened to get hurt.

  10. Sasha says:

Don’t get your hopes up people, he’ll be in isolation for his entire stay there just like Paris was and won’t get his first kiss from Bubba no matter how much we might want it.

  11. Anna says:

I am glad the judge gave him such a well-rounded sentence with actual jail time thrown in as well. I think it doesn’t matter that much how much time he effectively stays there, as long as it’s 90 days + or so. It’ll definitely do something to him, I think. Seems like the judge took into account that he and his family haven’t shown any remorse or offered an apology to Graziano’s family. I know Nick didn’t hold Graziano at gunpoint and made him get into the car and I know the kid could have remembered to put his seat-belt on, but it is still Nick who is entirely to blame for the accident. When you get behind a wheel, you take responsibility for whatever happens and you are also responsible for whatever your passengers do or don’t do, like strapping themselves in.
I have to agree with Sasha about him probably being put into isolation, like Lil’ Kim or Paris. But isolation in jail can probably be pretty tough on you too. I hope it will be on Nick. I don’t care how young and invincible he thought himself of, it doesn’t lessen his guilt. You do the crime, you do the time.

  12. daisyfly says:

This sentence bothers me to no end.

He nearly killed his best friend by driving recklessly while illegally intoxicated (which is redundant since he isn’t 21), forever altered the lives of his friend’s family, and sentenced his friend to a vegetative state for the rest of his life, and he gets 8 months in jail plus probation and community service, while Wesley Snipes didn’t pay his taxes and was sentenced to 3 years in a federal prison.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I know that the two have different classifications as to federal and local/state crimes, but when you look at the bigger picture, the kid got off pretty damn easy. He won’t have to pay any restitution to the family of Jon Graziano, since the accident occurred when he was a minor, thus making his parents legally responsible, and he’ll most likely get out of jail after less than half of his sentence. He’ll do community service the celebrity way, which means he’ll pony up some cash and be done with it.

I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised. Jon’s only contribution to society is one that most people can’t see, touch, or smell, so it’s not really valuable, whereas Nick stars in a crappy television show that was admittedly scripted, but still provides enough entertainment to keep people from killing themselves for one more day.

    Ho hum. 😥

  13. Kat says:

Spoiled Brat. Just wait, he will hurt someone else again. The judge should of assigned the 500 hours of community service to assisting with the nursing care of his friend. Maybe HE WOULD LEARN AND FEEL SOMETHING.

  14. snappyfish says:

his friend, to whom he can never say sorry enough too, is a vegetable and will never have a life.

Had this young man not been a ‘quasi-celebutard’ he would have received a serious jail sentence. Let us hope that the severity of the injury he inflicted on a ‘brother’ will be what stops his reckless behavior.

not the 90 days or so he will serve in county jail.

  15. xxx says:

I wouldn’t call that a stiff penalty at all considering what he did to the other passenger and that he could have killed many innocents with the high speed driving/alcohol.

Didn’t get nearly enough to me. I have no tolerence for drunk drivers, especially rich people that can certainly afford the cab ride….

And I agree Wesley Snipes didn’t harm anyone and he received a harsher sentence. Not right.

  16. Kait says:

I agree with the person who said this is sad and all – but the guy in a coma DID willingly get in to a vehicle with an underage, intoxicated driver. He DID willingly not fasten his seat belt. And I’m just guessing here, but I doubt he was sitting there knitting while Nick was getting ramped up to race that other car.

It’s sad and it’s senseless and I’m glad Nick got some jail time and a lot of probation. I hope he serves every moment of it and walks away a changed person.

  17. Devilgirl says:

Not only did the little bastard not apologize initially for what happened to his friend, he has made only two visits to the hospital since the accident and both times he acted bored and skate boarded up and down the corridors of the facility and played with a dart gun he brought with him for amusement. What a low life he is. He deserved MORE time and fines and MORE community service. For those who say, “well, no one pointed a gun at his friends head and forced him to ride with him” think about that when someone you love is injured needlessly by some fool too immature and drunk to make a good decision and see how it feels. The kid is a spoiled brat that was allowed to drive by his idiot father eventhough the kid had many speeding and reckless driving tickets before. His daddy got him out of trouble in previous instances, but it took an accident, critical in nature, for the kid to finally get a punishment to stick. What a little f#@$!

  18. Lyssa says:

Here are my thoughts: We all make mistakes in life and some turn out bigger than others. Nick made a mistake and he is paying for his mistake. The judge decided his fate and he will now have to deal with the consequences of his behavior. As for Nick friend, it is sad an unfortunate, but he also made decisions that day…and they essentially cost him his life. He chose to get in the car, not buckle his seat belt, and as sorry as I feel for him and his family, he was not just an innocent bi-stander. Nick is young, and let’s face it, 17 year old kids do not make smart decisions. They make mistakes and like I said, some mistakes are more costly than others. I hope that Nick can learn from his mistakes and use his lessons to change his life and help others in the process.

  19. DebiMarie says:

How in the hell can the Hogan’s live with themselves. This does not speak well for the parents. I mean did they or didn’t they raise their son to take responsibility for his actions. I’am a huge fan of Hulk Hogan, but I feel he should gather his family and the press and all of them show remorse and apologize for their actions as well as their son. I hate it when you see celebrities thinking they are above it all. Maybe if nick died they would of been a tad remorseful. It’s sad I think Linda is just biding her time till she can collect that divorce settlement and Brooke well she’s not center of attention right now so she appears border to death. Hulk is praying, how much is this gonna cost me. I PRAY the Graziano’s sue Hogan for every cent he has, instaed of dishing it out to Nick and his toys, or Brooke’s yawnnn (who told her she has a voice anyway)recording fee’s, or to Linda for alimony. BTW Hogan Clan I live in FLA and the LAW (which you are not above) states a driver is responsible for passenger’s he allows in his vehicle..PERIOD!!!!!!!

  20. kate says:

lena: the reason you never read about his friend’s blood alcohol is because it’s not illegal to ride in a car while drunk. however, it IS a crime hto drive drunk, and candy-ass hogan should be held accountable. he’s lucky his daddy is hulk hogan otherwise he’d have gotten a much harsher penalty. 8 months is nothing, and daddy will still support him when he gets out.

  21. pcbrady says:

It is so easy to judge the Bollea family based on their TV personalities that were made up for the enjoyment of the media. The family is suffering and heartbroken to think that this young man was hurt. But remember Nick is 17 and teens do stupid things…and the other kid did not wear his seatbelt…do you know how many kids won’t wear seatbelts-despite the laws and warnings? Terri and Linda, I hope they can repair whatever is causing the marriage to break-perhaps Nick was acting out his deep hurt that his parents were breaking up…Everybody, please cut the kid some slack…He never meant to hurt his friend, YES, he did a very dumb, and stupid, and dangerous thing. How many of you do similiar things only you haven’t been caught yet? Jail is no walk in the park…nor is the young man laying in the hospital in critical condition.. Instead of throwing stones back and forth at the families and the kids…HOW ABOUT WE ALL PRAY TO GOD FOR A MIRACLE…instead of assigning blame..PRAY FOR THESE TWO FAMILIES TORN WIDE OPEN AND BLEEDING BY THIS TRAGEDY…to find some peace and miracles.
things like this could happen to anybody…one stupid mistake in judgement…can affect one’s whole life and that of so many others. I am sure Nick and his friend NEVER realized or intended for this to happen. PRAY for them all…do not condemn or be too critical…we all make mitakes…Both families need our prayers…I still believe in miracles…pcb

  22. Gary from Buffalo says:

It should have been eight (8) years…BUT…it’s better than nothing. In reality, I think Hulk and wife should have been given a lengthy jail term as well. Nicky is a minor. I think as for justice, although there probably isn’t enough in this case, the Hogan (white trash/non-talented) family will pay where it hurts most. IN THE POCKET! God, I sure hope so. Nothing will bring the poor friend back to any kind of a life…A multitude of millions (dollars) will at least keep him comfortable in view of his circumstances!

The Bolleas (pseudo-Hogans) are pathetic! From hulk on down. Their overwhelming arrogance, lack of concern/apology is disgusting! Even more disgusting than Brooke? probably so, and that’s a LOT of disgustment. Pound for pound?…good Lord…A WHOLE BUNCH!!!

  23. Ticia says:

Ok, I know someone here in FL, where I am also a resident of, and he did 5 years in the Florida Department of Corrections for the same crime. He then spent 5 more years on state probation. The person this young man injured had injuries far less serious than those of Mr. Graziano….maybe Pinellas county could take a look at Okaloosa County’s judges and sentencing and learn from them…

  24. Janet says:

Nick Hogan is a nasty rich scumbag..he should of gotten 10 years in state prison, that’s where he belongs…and taht phone conversation with his scary looking mommy..what a coward.Asking him where he wants to live when he gets out of jail…The should put her in jail just for giving birth to him….

  25. Nick Bollea says:

    Sorry Hulk

Your son is a rich, spoiled, out of control, brat. If I were the judge he would be serving at least a 5 year sentence. This will happen again if you keep financing and backing this spoiled and obnoxious SOB. When are you going to admit that you have fu__ed up as a father and your children are only going to change if you make them change. I have a son who is a military hero and I feel sorry for you. Your status and money has ruined your family.
