Guy Ritchie directs a strange, sexy Dior commercial starring Jude Law

A few years ago, a director by the name of “Madonna’s Husband” met a youngish English bloke with thinning hair. It was love at first sight, for both. Something about the bromance between Jude Law and Guy Ritchie is lovely, in my opinion. They really do seem tight, and like they’re genuinely good friends, with a hot homoerotic streak – just enough to make things interesting. It also is a pleasant reminder that both Guy and Jude are very similar – two middle-to-upper class boys who are more famous for their relationships than their talent.

Anyway, it was apparently a lovefest when Jude and Guy worked together on Sherlock Holmes, and somehow, Guy was chosen to direct Jude in a long(er) commercial for Dior Homme. We’ve already seen this previewed, but it’s a whole other thing when you’re watching the full commercial:

Gawker hates it – others love it. I think it wants to be fancier and sexier than it actually is, but I’m not a Jude Law hater, and I think he looks rather hot in it. The model is horrible, though. She’s a bad actress. Jude’s fake Cockney (Mockney?) accent is the worst, but I like the Paris scenery. My favorite part: that coat/wrap-dress thing the girl is wearing. I want that.

    Well, I need a cigarette.

My S/O told me the other day that I resembled Jude Law. My face, and bones, and such. Geeky, right? But to me it was a great compliment, despite the fact that I’m a chick 🙂

  3. Tess says:

    No cig needed here.

    LOL.

  4. LOVE ANGELINA says:

I LMAO at the part when he is on the phone. I didn’t like it either, it was dramatic and gorgeous with no real point or interesting twist. It didn’t even flatter Dior. I didn’t like the woman dressing him either, I mean I thought she was lovely but her dressing him. Note: To Guy Ritchie Jude looks good nude or in next to nothing.

  5. Sasha says:

Actually, Jude really has a Cockney accent, he had been trying to avoid to look more fancy. It said he was object of jokes from Primores hill gang for that.

I think is sexy but that is the last thing he needs if he wants to be see like a real and serios actor. He needs to avoid that alfie image (and a Sienna Miller, but he fails with that :S ). Besides, is a little bit misogynist, isnt it?

  6. jen says:

    Dear Guy,

    Please stick to gangster movies.

    K, Thanks.

I was giggling at the beginning but, the “film” definitely improved as it went on. I loved the shot of the Eiffel Tower at the end. However, as Sasha mentioned it was somewhat misogynistic (The shot of her tying his shoes. Ugh.)But, I do like Jude despite his recent douchetastic behavior, and penchant for displaying his abundance of chest hair. He’s still very sexy to me. And yes, I do hate myself a little for thinking so.

Hmm, not great. Looks great, but basically empty.

Guy Ritchie tends to do better when he injects some of his trademark humour into it. His BMW commercial “Star” a number of years back was fantastic.

You know what irritated the hell out of me? The abundance of credits. It’s a f#@%ing five-minute commercial. Get over yourselves.

Isn’t it strange when I like the car and the trailer music best in a Dior fragrance ad?

Something went wrong somewhere, I guess.

  11. Sumodo1 says:

These “commercials” are played over and over at cosmetic/perfume counters all over the world. (I know from my work experience).

Employees are going to get sick of this one, really fast–plus the words get ingrained in your brain.

    Yikes!

  12. Mari says:

Would take Guy over Jude any day, especially since he dropped the big ol’ bag of gristle.
Jude’s face is pretty, yes, but he’s got a very Jack Skellington thing happening about him…

  13. LOVE ANGELINA says:

LOL @Whitey Fisk. I know all those crazy credits.

  14. Lucy says:

@ Whitey Fisk: hahaha, thank you!

Also, I’m a little confused about what happened but my lady bits are feeling pretty good about the whole “film”. So, you know. Good job.

  15. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Is Jude on Rogaine? Perhaps Demoxonil? Teamosil?

  16. a says:

My take — (and maybe incorrect) is that it was somewhat of an homage to his bedroom antics -quite unabashed –I am Jude and this is who I am and this is whatI do. And I look damn good doing it. That pesky baby mamma drama thatwas a short lived blip-I’m back-

  17. mmf says:

    I love me some Jude.

  18. erica says:

I get the ad. Jude is Love sexy !

  19. Sera says:

This guy would be sexy if he weren’t such a complete and total moraless souless tool. I just don’t find that hot. He made a daughter that he won’t even see, much less raise. That is so not zexy.

  20. Number6 says:

    Fkng LOVE it. Everything.

  21. ch says:

some of the crew worked also in sherlock

  22. Sandy says:

Does anyone else look at his smug face and want to slap him with a dead fish?

  23. crazydaisy says:

@ sandy, i so do. ew. plus that “tan” is the worst!

@ whitey fisk – you crackin’ me up!

  24. I Choose Me says:

Jude is a sexy piece and not a bad actor imo (he’s got loads of charisma) but that that commercial was a godawful piece of shit. The best scenes were of the car and the Paris scenery.

@Whitey Fisk. Ha! Your comment had me giggling for two minutes straight.

  25. GT says:

That last picture is hot, it looks like they could get it on right there.

  26. Diva says:

Jude Law, Guy Ritchie, Paris, and Muse? I’m lovin’ all of it. {=0)
