Do Evan Rachel Wood & Chris Evans have sex appeal in the new Gucci ads?

gucci2

Awhile back, I noticed that Evan Rachel Wood had been named the new face of Gucci “Guilty” – the perfume that is allegedly sexy or something. What I didn’t realize until just a few days ago was that my boy Chris Evans is “the dude” in ERW’s ads. He doesn’t get as much full face time as ERW, but he’s there, and he’s adorable. Once again, I truly wonder what the geniuses over at Gucci were thinking. Sure, I think ERW is pretty, and I think Chris is adorable, but they’re being sold as, like, bombshells. Usually when I see photos of Chris, I think “Aw, cute and funny.” Not “I wonder what his dong smells like.”

Anyway, in addition to the print ads, Gucci hired comic artist-turned-director Frank Miller to shoot an ad. The 30-second spot came out a few weeks ago to little fanfare. But now Miller has released his “director’s cut” of the commercial, and it’s rather… sexy. I like it. Yes, it’s cheesy, especially with ERW’s wooden acting, but it makes me want to see more of Chris, because he’s really sexy and… yes, I now want to know if his dong smells like Gucci Guilty.

See? It’s cute, isn’t it? I was going to go on and on about how Chris needs some work, but he really doesn’t – he was named the new Captain America, and he’s in that Scott Pilgrim movie with Michael Cera, plus a half-dozen other projects. So he’s doing fine. Not he just needs to do a movie I will actually see. But I’ll just content myself with this ad.

Why does this woman have an acting career? I don’t get it. She was so bad in True Blood that I had to fast forward through anything she was in. Honestly, she was painful to watch.

  2. Tiffany says:

I think ERW is kind of touch as go. If she does character work she is alright. If there are the right kind people/director’s she is good. Liked her in ‘The Wrestler’, loved her in ‘Whatever Works’, that movie was great, she really should consider more comedies and character work.

  3. Ycnan says:

i think she is gorgeous, and she was really good in 13.

  4. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

I have grown to really dislike her, and I thought she was great in 13 and also in the Upside of Anger, and another movie whose name escapes me, but Ed Norton was in it with her. She is so full of herself now, and it showed terribly last night when she was interviewed at the MTV awards. She has a slight faux British accent.

I also thought she was terrible as the Queen of LA on TB. So over the top, it wasn’t even campy and cool.

I do think she is pretty though.

I think both of them look way hotter in these ads than they normally do. I didn’t even realize who they were at first.

  6. Rachael says:

    She sucks.

  7. aenflex says:

    @katie – ditto

  8. Nia says:

I can only tell it’s ERW in the black and white photo; I hardly recognized her in the others.

    meh

  10. la_chica says:

    she is so beautiful

  11. mina says:

sex appeal maybe but chemistry, no i don’t think so..

  12. Cam says:

OMG, they look WAAAAAAAY hotter, although Chris’ face in the b&w pic is kind of creepy.

  13. Vee says:

I’m digging the ad, the photos, everything. I think these two are insanely good looking and it works for me.

  14. Alarmjaguar says:

I’m w/ mina — I’m not seeing a connection, esp b/c she’s got the I’m totally all about the camera and not the (cute) guy.

  15. Jackson says:

IDK. These pics look like just about every other glossy ad for something ridiculously overpriced that I generally don’t want or need.

  16. Snarf says:

Chris Evans oozes sex appeal out of every pore.

  17. gemmaa says:

The ads do not inspire me to even get a free tester at the local drugstore.
I think she is great in True blood though.

  18. gemmaa says:

hes cute, NOT sexy though. 😕

  19. Camille says:

Now that’s how you do a hot and sexy ad *gives side eye to Posh and Becks*.

ERW is just gorgeous. CE is cute, but I don’t find him all that hot, he’s kind of generic. They do look good together in these ads though.

  20. Mistral says:

I like all of the pics except the black and white one. I think that one is pretty lame. That said, is the director Frank Miller, as in comic book Frank Miller? Sin City and 300 Frank Miller and that awful The Spirit movie Frank Miller?

  21. Julie says:

Chris Evans just reminds me of an overgrown frat boy. He’s conventionally attractive, but doesn’t do anything for me.

  22. Scarlet Vixen says:

The only reason I think she looks pretty in these pics is because they don’t really look like her. All I see is Diana Kruger and Leelee Sobieski. I don’t get why she has a career–she is so horrifically awful in True Blood I don’t know whether to cringe or laugh. I was a better queen in my 6th grade holiday play “Old King Cole’s Christmas.” And I was pretty bad. 🙂

  23. danielle says:

chris evans’ eyelashes are killing me! they’re beautiful! he looks hotter with his eyes closed lol

  24. Siren6 says:

She doesn’t look the least built guilty.

  25. Theuth says:

Saw the commercial. CE is actually very hot, unfortunately he appears for just 10 seconds; the rest is all with Evan, her corpsey smug and inability of appearing alive.

  26. Kloops says:

She takes a great photo but her acting is atrocious.

  27. KC says:

    look at his eyelashes…

  28. WYIJM says:

    Mmmm, pretty eyelashes!

  29. Bee says:

I think the print ads are a hell of alot sexier than the commercial. At least in the print ads were weren’t subjected to Evan Rachel Wood’s lip curling school of acting.

  30. RocketBoy says:

    she is so beautiful

  31. GucciFan says:

It’s a better fragrance than the advert. Still like the Gucci By Gucci though 🙂

  32. Has anyone any thoughts or comments on the Gucci Guilty Perfume itself?
