Katherine Heigl is back to blonde after going for a really hideous shade of brunette to play Stephanie Plum (don’t even get me started on THAT). I guess the Stephanie Plum film shoot is over? Because Dame Heigl went back to blonde for an appearance yesterday on behalf of her charity, the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, named for her late brother. Dame Heigl actually does great work for animals through the foundation, and you know her heart is in it, so I’m not slamming her for that at all. By the way, this appearance was to announce the foundation’s donation of $1 million to spay and neuter pets.
I will slam her for the blonde, though. And just the total appearance. Lainey puts the emphasis on the weird blonde shade, but is it just me, or does Katherine’s skin look really weird too? Like she’s sunburned and she just covered it with the motherload of foundation? Or is it just a bad blonde and bad lighting? And a bad blouse? Eh.
One other Heigl story – she’s the October cover girl for InStyle Magazine, and in an interview excerpt, she discusses how her daughter doesn’t really care for her. Just kidding. Or am I? Dame Heigl says: “The first thing she said was, ‘Dada,’ and then she’d call everybody else she loved ‘Dada’. She actually attached to Josh (Kelley) much faster. There’s this thing where, as a new mother, you’re just constantly going, Am I doing this right? Am I handling this right? Am I playing with her enough? Should I be talking to her more? You’re just nervous, so you’re almost creating more drama than is necessary.” Totally normal, the “Dada” thing. The “d” sound is easier for babies to make anyway.
Back to the blonde and her face… I know I said that I wouldn’t make fun of her foundation’s work, but would it be so difficult for Dame Heigl to NOT make her patented bitchfaces throughout the whole press conference for her charity?

She looks awful. Old and dry and caked with 80’s foundation. I don’t know if I would call her blonde maybe Apricot. They did the worst job on her eyebrows. Not natural looking at all. She should have stayed brunette until she could have her hair done well.
It’s big bird yellow, not cute and it washes her skin tone out. She needs to go back to an ash blond color. I think the best color she had was when she was in that 27 dresses movie. I don’t like the length on her either, I prefer her hair longer. As an actress, eh! She seems too into herself, as if she’s done some really intense acting gigs and deserves the praise. However, big thumbs up to her charity work, love it.

I found her comments re: Naleigh to be honest. As a fellow working mom I question myself and my contributions (as a parent, spouse and employee) all the time. Her comments rang true, and I appreciate her insight re: creating more drama. Too true!

Something is wrong. First the face, she seems seriously sick. Second the hair, not only the colour but a totally bad styling too.

Oh, she looks awful. The hair is way too light and too monotone and unnatural, and they basically gave her eyebrows the exact same color too. I think she needs a much darker blond with a bit of highlights and variation. Hopefully she gets it fixed pronto.

I just received my Instyle with her cover yesterday. I have to say it is one of the poorest covers I have ever seen. It looks like she is sitting up on a table, looking straight into the camera with her head mostly down? Really weird. You can’t see the dress at all and it is not an attractive picture of her. It seems like it would have been one of the outtakes at best. Tyra would have a consumptive fit! LOL.

Some people, you just hate on by simply looking at their faces; some others, you just sort of like. I actually like her a lot! I remember, she and Marjandra were the only female actresses in Roswell (sigh…I’m old…) I could stand, while Shiri and the other blond got on my nerves so badly…

I’m not known for my fashion sense or style, but even I can see that it doesn’t look too great. She’s a beautiful woman, but hell looks like she has done her very best to look her very worst…

and i am looking forward to the stephanie plum movie but i am still unsure about KH as stephanie! i mean, hungarian/italian she is not! no blue eyes… sigh… just not at all who i imagined and even some of the other characters are not who i would have necessarily picked for the roles… BUT looking forward to seeing the movie anyway

I can’t believe she got the role of Stephanie Plum. They’ve turned what could have been a plum role (no pun intended 🙂 ) into a cartoon-ish character by casting her. Her idea of acting is making cute-sy faces–just like all the other Romantic-comedy women.

I think the biggest offender is the shade of her roots. Perhaps if they were a bit darker? It reminds of two trends from ten years ago: the one in which the roots are significantly lighter and gradiate into something darker at the ends, and the style that disected the hair and used contrasting shades for the more exposed part and underside. In this case, it looks like the lighter tone was applied to the underside, and the slightly darker one was put on top, which seems to create a heavy crown where it seemingly wants to be a halo effect. Maybe some lowlights, or that ‘bronde’ shade?
Ugh, this happened to me when I used stripper in my hair to go from dyed brunette to dyed blonde. My hair turned an ORANGEY shade of blonde. Yuck. I did it my self though. Maybe she did too.
AND, it just occurred to my after watching all 3 seasons of, Veronica Mars, again that Kristen Bell would have been perfect for Stephanie Plum.

I didn’t want to comment for fear that if Heigl reads this she would take it as another fan writing about her, but that shade is awful, as are her bitchfaces.

I think what’s happening is she’s in the *process* of going back to blonde – this is not the final color. Either her or her colorist have used a stripping bleach to remove the artificial dark pigments from her hair. This leaves hair VERY yellow/orange. Hopefully she’ll soon be getting it dyed to a natural blonde shade.
This is a bermuda triangle: unnatural hair color, harsh tan/spray tan, and colorless blouse. Was she drinking when she got dressed? Lol
However, I give her a pass because of her work with animals.
