Will Julianne Moore get shafted for an Oscar yet again?

I have been a major Julianne Moore fan for more than a decade. I love her. I think she’s one of our great American actresses. I want her to succeed and flourish. By the way… Julianne turns 50 years old in December. Can you believe that? She looks great! She looks ten years younger, like a beautiful woman in her late 30s, and that’s probably because Julianne doesn’t f-ck with her face. You know another reason Julianne is so cool? She’s a great mom! Page Six had this cool little tidbit today:

Julianne Moore is a great mom. The star, getting Oscar buzz for her role in “The Kids Are All Right,” lined up with hundreds of excited girls to give her daughter, Liv Helen Freundlich, the chance to meet Selena Gomez, who was promoting her new fashion line Dream Out Loud at Kmart Penn Plaza the other day.

A spy told Us, “It was really sweet. Julianne and her daughter patiently waited to meet Selena. Liv was really excited.”

[From Page Six]

Doesn’t that just make you day? That Julianne didn’t pull rank or do some diva act, she just waited with her daughter to meet Selena Gomez. Adorable. Anyway, I forwarded this to CB, and we started talking about whether Julianne would end up getting shafted yet again for an Oscar. Both Julianne and Annette Bening are considered heavy favorites to get Best Actress nominations for The Kids Are Alright. I haven’t seen it yet – my town doesn’t put a lot of “gay” films in the theatres, unfortunately. But if they both get nominated, there will probably be a big push for Annette, just because she’s been shafted a few times before, and it’s her “turn”. But, Academy voters, consider Julianne as well. She’s been shafted too!

One last Julianne Moore thing – several days ago, Pajiba put up this awesome compilation video of Julianne crying in many, many, MANY films. She really knows how to sob.

The clips from Magnolia and The Hours get me every damn time. More Moore!

FIFTY? Jesus I would have said 43-45!
She’s beautiful, and is very very talented, I saw her in Far from Heaven and Magnolia, she’s great.

  2. mln says:

Julianne Moore is beautiful and really seems to be so kind and normal. I also love Annette Benning too maybe one can be nominated as Best actress and the other in supporting?

  3. flutters says:

Julianne Moore should have won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Far From Heaven. Instead they gave the award that year to Nicole Kidman and her prosthetic nose in The Hours. Kidman is a talented actress but Moore was far more deserving that year. That was the year she lost in both the Lead and Supporting Actress categories.

  4. fan says:

i luv Julianne bc she consistently picks great material and definitely deserves an oscar on her mantle. i kinda think of her career as akin to Cate Blanchett’s in terms of delivering great performance one after the other.

  5. SammyHammy says:

Moore is a far superior actress compared to Bening, in my opinion. I think that she is very underrated and that’s a real shame. I’d love to see her get the Oscar.

  6. Anti-icon says:

Julienne Moore is all flavors of awesome, and she should have several Oscars by now. She choose the most interesting work, regardless of status or budget, and then she delivers. She can play any role. That’s all.

  7. mtb says:

I know it’s wrong, but I got the giggles watching the “crying” video. I think Ms. Moore richly deserves an Oscar. I’ve enjoyed her performances in every film I’ve seen her in.

  8. Katie says:

She is generally excellent in all she does. I wonder though if her and Bening will both get nominated and sort of cancel each other out since they’re from the same film.

  9. Eileen says:

Love her and how awesome would it be to have her as a mom??? Lucky girl!
She reminds me of Cate Blanchett -they just have this effortless cool about them.

  10. Riley says:

They are both so good in The Kids Are All Right, it is hard to say who is better. I don’t think one would’ve been as good without the other. They were such a believable couple, though I kind of fall in the group that thinks what Julianne Moore’s character did was a little unbelievable. AB had the more challenging role in that movie, and when she allows her character’s vulnerable side to come through, it is so realistic and authentic. I think if it came down to both of them being nominated, AB should win.

  11. Nia says:

She’s a great actress; I hope she does get a nomination. I love her in everything, especially The End of the Affair, Far From Heaven and that rom-com with Pierce Bronsan which wasn’t that good, but she was lovely in it.

I enjoyed watching the crying montage. It’s nice to watch an actress who can genuinely emote on screen because her face isn’t all botox-ed up.

  12. Holly says:

I think Moore is a pretty good actress. And she’s definitely beautiful…but am I the only one who laughed out loud at the video? It’s hilarious. Most of the moments in the actual movies are pretty good (the ones I’ve seen), but a compilation of all of them makes her look like an idiot. Just one opinion.

  13. JM says:

I’ve loved her since 9 Months. She has definately mastered her craft and I love that she choses to age gracefully instead of becomming another plastic Hollywood Barbie.

  14. Ron says:

Julieanne and Annette are both deserving. It’s amazing the fine actors who have never won an Oscar. Glenn Close anyone?

  15. k says:

She should get shafted for her pathetic attempt at a Boston accent on 30ROck.

  16. PsychicEyes says:

Any actress who can capture the skillful art of crying deserves an Oscar…I did watch this Youtube video a few days ago, courtesy of DListed.

I just love this beautiful and talented actress…. genuine and classy in my books.

  17. Jeri says:

She’s great, I hope all her tears are just for films (or for joy).

  18. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Hot Grits A-Flyin’, I guess no one here watches 30 Rock.

That’s fine, but as a viewer of that program, I’ll tell you, she was so powerfully hideous on that show that I may erupt in shingles at some future date as a delayed reaction to her awful, awful, AWFUL arc on that show. Between that and the snippets I heard of her ‘Canadian’ accent in clips from The Shipping News, I’m wondering if she has a secret twin who isn’t talented, because (and I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it) holy frijoles, when she’s bad, it’s nuclear.

  19. buckley says:

She’s exquisite and should have won an oscar for The Hours not to mention plenty others…

  20. Jess says:

I’ve loved JM ever since Nine Months. And I thought she was funny on 30 Rock too. And you should see her nude sex scene in Chloe. So hot and I can’t believe she’s almost 50!

  21. Mistral says:

    Ya, she’s great.

  22. Camille says:

I love Julianne. I think she is super talented and super gorgeous. I also think if you fucked her off she’d cut a bitch 😆 . I hope she wins the Oscar, it would be about damn time!

  23. Chris says:

Yeah she’s great; I rate her alongside Catherine Keener as one of the most talented and under exposed actors of our time. I watched The Big Lebowski again the other night and she was great in that. I also really liked her in Boogie Nights, Magnolia and the indie film World Traveller.

  24. original kate says:

i agree, julianne was amazing in “far from heaven,” but in “boogie nights” she broke my heart.

  25. Jacqueline says:

She’s one of the best actresses in Hollywood! She got robbed in A Single Man.

  26. birdgherl says:

Sorry but while I agree about Magnolia, she was simply outclassed by Annette Benning. She doesn’t even come close when next to her on screen. Or Mark Ruffalo for that matter.
