Taylor Swift wrote a song about John Mayer being a douche, maybe

Shortly after Taylor Swift broke up with Taylor Lautner, there began to be a steady stream of rumors about Swifty and John Mayer. The two performed together a handful of times, and many thought that Swifty and Mayer were boning as early as January of this year, up until June/July of this year. Do I think it was true? Yes, I do. I think Swifty thought she was dating Mayer. And I think Mayer was probably seeing many other women besides Swifty. I also think they were having sex, and that the whole thing was probably devastating to Swifty. Now we know for sure (not really) – Swifty has a song on her new album called “Dear John” and the lyrics are basically saying that Swifty got dicked around by a dude named John. Magic!

Blogs are abuzz that Taylor Swift is targeting serial dater John Mayer on a new song, “Dear John,” from her forthcoming album, Speak Now.

Swift, 20 — who was romantically linked to Mayer, 33, last year while collaborating on his song, “Half of My Heart” — has penned the following lyrics:

“Dear John…”I see it all now that you’re gone Don’t you think I was too young To be messed with The girl in the dress Cried the whole way home I should’ve known. It was wrong Don’t you think nineteen’s too young To be played By your dark, twisted games When I loved you so. My mother accused me of losing my mind But I swore I was fine You’ll add my name to your long list of traitors Who don’t understand And I’ll look back in regret I ignored what they said ‘Run as fast as you can.”

Though Swift hasn’t stated whether the song is about Mayer. she tells Access Hollywood, her lyrics “are all made very clear. Every single song is like a roadmap to what that relationship stood for, with little markers that maybe everyone won’t know, but there are things that were little nuances of the relationship, little hints. And every single song is like that. Everyone will know, so I don’t really have to send out emails on this one.”

[From Us Weekly]

I have mixed feelings about this, mainly because I really do think it’s about Mayer and his douche moves. First of all, everyone warned Swifty about hooking up with Mayer, including her mom and her friends, and even the gossip blogs that note his every douche move. Yes, she was just 19 years old. But she was also an a–hole who thought Mayer would change if she loved him, despite all the evidence to the contrary. So even though I hate that Mayer f-cked with Swifty’s head, I also kind of think this was a lesson she needed to learn, and she should be happy it didn’t get dragged out like the Aniston crap. I also think Swifty is getting to the age where she might want to be a little more oblique with her lyrics – some of the best “screw you” music is stuff where you don’t know who the girl is singing to, you know? “You’re So Vain” still haunts me.

I’m sooo sick of her. Her music is like a lisa frank notebook, with no substance. She plays the victim and that schtick is getting old. She was 19, old enough to know who to let in her life and who to not. I don’t see how anyone can like her music if it’s all fairytale bullcrap and kissing boys in the rain. Ughhh I can’t stand her.

  2. YOYO99 says:

He hit it and then quit it!

  3. normades says:

God, I hope she didn’t catch anything

  4. Stef says:

Her songs are literally like a stream of consciousness for a 13 year old girl…it’s like “and then you walked in with your old blue jeans and a hat and a car and ou said hey whats up and it was like magic because you look so good and you were a rebel and you said no to your mom and we ran to the field and we kissed in the barn and then you took off my bra and i said no not til marriage and then you said i dont want to see you no more and then i cried to my mom and she said its just a phase and i said can i take the car and she said where are you going and i say i want to be free”

shit doesn’t even rhyme. doesn’t even match the pace of the music. and her voice always sounds like it’s juuuuuust on the verge of cracking.

God love the girl for not being a Miley, but seriously, at 20, if I thought every guy I was sleeping with was gonna marry me, then wrote a song about how they didn’t, I’d be recording a greatest hits album. Swifty needs to grow up a little bit. And lose the prom curls.

  5. LOVE ANGELINA says:

LOL I don’t know what to feel about this. I mean this is like her 4th or 5th song about a failed romance. Its like ok and how many frogs are you gonna continue to kiss? Girls are just dating obsessed and they keep doing one right after the other. I don’t think Swift is dating anyone now and thats good. She has to really find herself and be single and have fun. I hate seeing girls where a guy is all they think about. I don’t listen to Taylor Swift but I am getting a sense she is letting men dominate her lyrics and life.

  6. Samigirl says:

@Normades, that was the first thought that rolled through my head.
However, I know that if when I was a teen, and…idk, Johnathan Taylor Thomas wanted to hook up, I prolly would have. Maybe not the smartest move, but tons of women have been “mayer-ed” and tons more will be.

  7. Fire says:

I agree with Kaiser – be a little more subtle, Taylor. “Dear John”?? Really? I’m sure it’s therapeutic for her to write about her breakups, but EVERYONE warned her about this dude, EVERYONE. She knew, so IMO, no song necessary. Makes her look pathetic!

  8. Iggles says:

She’s an idiot! She got played, but it’s John Mayer! He’s a douche! Surprise, surprise.

She’s not a baby anymore. She needs to stop acting like a victim. She’s working the Jennifer Aniston angle and its tiresome.

  9. alejandro says:

I think she exaggerates the impact and importance of these relationships so she can exploit the details for attention, notoriety and album sales.

This isn’t some artistic journey she is doing by putting this out there, she isn’t Alanis who actually produced great music and marked a generation. She’s doing this because it’s expected of her and gets her sympathy and sales.

  10. Mari says:

@ Stef- holy moly! I just spewed my morning brew out! Don’t know if you made those up or if those really are her lyrics, either way, spot on!

  11. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named says:

I see that Mari beat me to it!

@Steph: That was effing HILARIOUS, thank you!

  12. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

She sure does show her age with these lyrics. C’mon sweetheart, lick your wounds and move on. We’ve all been there, done that.

  13. la_chica says:

@Love Angelina- I totally agree with you. It’s getting a little bit pathetic at this point, and so many girls look up to her, it would be nice if she wasn’t so obsessed with guys.

I like Kaiser’s point about not being so transparent about everything, honestly I feel kinda embarrassed for her for this song. Like, have a little pride in yourself and stop being so whiny.

  14. Fire says:

    AWESOME STEF!

  15. Jen says:

“But she was also an a–hole who thought Mayer would change if she loved him, despite all the evidence to the contrary.”

That doesn’t make her an a-hole. Just young and in love, which makes anyone dumb and blind…we’ve all been there.

  16. fwozbo says:

    Stef – great post!

  17. Cruisin Through says:

I don’t think it makes her an a-hole either. It makes her 19 or 20, whatever she is.

We were all there at one time. And the one you get warned about, always looks the most interesting. I’m going to cut her some slack.

  18. gabs says:

This only inflates his ego more. Ugh. Swifty. She should have at least left his name out of the song. Im embarassed for her

  19. Sigh. says:

    @ Stef —

Yeah. She has the writing skill of a 5th grader…and NOT like the smart ones on that game show.

I think I’d feel for her if she could write more scathing (interesting, poignant) lyrics. 19 year olds knows how to insult someone or get p!ssed, and LORD KNOWS, Mayer is SUCH an easy target. Alanis Morrisette’s Jagged Little Pill was written/produced when she was around the same age as Swift is now, and almost EVERYONE related to “You Oughta Know.”

But guess I should expect no more than mediocrity from the mediocre. Deep enough for her pre-teen fan base?

  20. Marjalane says:

As far as everyone warning her to stay away from Mayer, it made me think of that old, “Ever tell a kid not to stick beans up his nose?” saying.

Also- I think Swifty is a little too invested in believing in her own publicity; She’s a sweet girl, but she doesn’t have anything that was going to change Mayers way of life. I think her little “done me wrong” song is going to prove embarrassing for her career.

  21. guesty says:

live & learn sweetie. but as long as she’s making serious coin she’s gonna twang about it.

  22. 8908 says:

This chick is a liar. Working on getting publicity. He worked with her to get some tween fans and told her to take a hike. She’s mad real country artists don’t like her. Reba Mccantire dissed her. Keith Urban dissed her. He’s not trying to work with her. He had an all for the halls event on Oct 5 and didn’t invite Swifty. He had Mayer there though. He and Mayer co headlined with each other too, a month ago. Urban co headlined with Carrie Underwood in the past . Swift thinks she’s one of the grown folk, but she’s not. She’s getting dissed. She needs to go write real music and stop lying for publicity. PUBLICITY STUNT!!!!

  23. im awful says:

everybodys fallen for a douche at some point. even when your friends and fam warn you. i dont think we need to be too harsh on her.

but yes, her lyrics are very simple and not really poetic… but maybe thats her appeal to the masses.

  24. 8908 says:

What’s sad is this chick think she has the power to bring someone down. People are just mocking her for this whole thing. Using everyone you’ve crossed paths with’s name to sale records is dirty. Alanis, that girl is the ish. One of the very very few rock artists I loved at that time. I mean artists that had just come out. Loved the group Garbage too.

  25. Jeri says:

Probably stings a little more then the Jonas brother.

Live & learn, taking risks can backfire big time, we all go through it but when it’s good it’s sooo.. good.

  26. lu says:

So she didn’t see this coming?
    really , really?
I think an amoeba could see this coming.
John Mayer is a permanent asshole.

  27. Andria says:

Sorry, but at 19 you should be able to figure out that John Mayer is, well, John Mayer. It isn’t as though she met some charming a-hole at the local burger stand and naively fell for his routine. Please. The only person who played her is Taylor Swift. She’s the one who decided to play make believe. It’s John Mayer!

  28. mln says:

You are allowed to date douches until you hit 25,30 at the most, it builds character. Considering that he’s got more than ten years on her, and the fact that he’s humiliated his fair share of big names I think it’s an apt punishment. But I think she is just a vapid Barbie doll with a pretty voice. He should be thanking god he didn’t date Tori Amos or Carly Simon who would have destroyed him and made a classic out of it.

  29. OtherChris says:

Sorry, but when compared to all the stupid choices I made (had sex with) at 20, Taylor looks like frigging Einstein.

Besides, she’s right: 19 is too young. He’s a bona fide turd.

  30. jover says:

Yes, alejandro, iggles, stef, etc. agree; her schtick of sweetness, purity and innocence and light is as manufactured and contrived as the other pop tarts. Hopefully her new cd won’t be as successful and she will finally slide out of view. I’ve heard some of the songs – not much but tiresome adolescent stream of consciousness. Also, I cringe when people add that she also plays the guitar. Please, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, etc. played the guitar; this fraud holds the guitar and plays some chords; is her target audience totally ignorant of the guitar gods – quick, anyone name a song were she’s played a great riff live?

  31. Eleonor says:

She’s 19 in my twenties I dated douche guys, my friends told me I shouldn’t, but I did it, it’s a lesson we all learn at some point in life, I can’t blame her for John Mayer. But I can blame her for the lyrics: you’re 19 years old and you’re writing like a 15!

  32. nnn says:

Taylor probably thought that if Beyonce could do it – dating a bad guy, former drug dealer and womanizer at 18 when he was already 31 and changing him into a decent man, giving him a new virginity and respectability – then she could do it too with a Mayer the Douche.

Too bad it doesn’t work for everyone.

Move one babygirl and learn. We all get through this.

  33. flutters says:

I’m at the point with this girl Taylor that I’d like for her to realize that not everything that happened to her rates a song that must be shared with the world. It’s like, that’s her selling point now, she writes about her life. But…..why should she be applauded for it if her life’s all about overdramatizing crushes, showmances, and an awards show diss?

  34. willynilly says:

“This isn’t some artistic journey she is doing by putting this out there, she isn’t Alanis who actually produced great music and marked a generation. She’s doing this because it’s expected of her and gets her sympathy and sales.”

Um, are you her manager? How do you know her artistic journey? She’s still a kid writing about kid issues. Nothing more, nothing less. Give her a break. I’m with Jen, she’s not an a-hole.

(and I don’t listen to her music, I just think the bashing is a bit tired.)

  35. IAMDUDE says:

Can’t wait for John Mayer to spill the hardcore details of their sex session like he always does. I’m glad Taylor finally spoke up against John Mayer, dude is a complete douche, but now she’s going to have him talking about her and ruining her sweet, innocent image.

  36. John says:

Apparently John Mayer said he canceled those tours because Taylor sucked his dick dry and he was worried about it.

  37. brenda says:

    @ willynilly

agreed. Cut her some slack people. She’s 19/20. If she did date him, it doesn’t make her an a-hole. It’s a right of passage. We’ve all been there.

And I think the title of the song is pretty clever. I haven’t heard it, but at least she makes attempts to write her own songs. She seems like a sweet girl. All the bashing is a bit much.

  38. Susana says:

Honestly…she knows this is the only way she’s ever gonna sell because she has no talent whatsoever…she can’t sing live and her lyrics…wow…I think everyones getting tired of the “good girl got hurt…again and again” act!
Plus…everyone is aware of John Mayer’s reputation…he is the first to let it show to everyone…so that is no excuse!
I gotta give credit to the guy for speaking is mind…he’s one of the few that actually speaks his mind in this “celebrity world” of course then he gets slammed for it…I’m pretty sure he made it pretty clear for her what he wanted…plus, I don’t think she’s as innocent as she tries to show.

  39. Madison says:

She’s an idiot for dating him in the first place but what a great PR move, put the rumor out there this song is about him and use it to draw attention to your new CD coming out.

  40. Mel says:

Give the girl a break. She’s growing up and learning in public. At 19 you don’t know any better, some women never learn.

Why, when someone becomes the media darling, a few months later everyone is putting them down, pecking away….people are so cynical and bitter these days.

  41. Susana says:

    @ Madison

Exactly! That’s the only way she’ll sell out.
That’s all she knows what to do.
    Joe Jonas? Writes a song…
    Kanye West? Another song…
    Taylor Lautner? Song…
    John Mayer?…yeah…
People get curious, not because she’s any good, but because they want to know what she says about them!
Way to go girl…now that’s talent…that’s all she ever does…talking trash about exes in songs…damn…it’s sad though that she never has anything nice to say about any of them…why was she ever with them if there was never nothing nice!
Even after you break up…been there….there are some good memories that remain…not everything was bad…but for her, that’s all that is…
I get bored with her a little bit more every single day!

  42. CoCo says:

    @ Stef
LOL!!!! Thanks… that made my day!
Couldn’t agree more! She shouldn’t be playin’ w/ the big kids, she’s still a baby.

  43. Cletus says:

Stef nailed that. Jesus… that shit was funny.

  44. Stef says:

Nope, made those up on the spot. And I have the rhythm of “Love Story” in my head to it and it totally fits.

Glad I made people laugh 🙂 Funny cuz it’s TRUE ha

  45. mln says:

Uhm for all of you Alanis fans out there wasn’t her song supposed to be about Dave Coulier the other uncle on Full House? I would rather have dated John Mayer which is saying alot. BTW alot of people thought Alanis sucked back in the 90’s and perferred Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, and even to a lesser extent Fiona Apple.

  46. Beth says:

Okay, but seriously, they look pretty cute together. I wish he wasn’t such a douche.

  47. Lem says:

she is TOO OBVIOUS- but her target market is prepubescent, no?

  48. Lem says:

    is she an idiot?
I had sex with many a jack@SS in my day, but I never mistook them for the good guys! DOLT
If you’re going to playa playah you have to know the game.
After more deliberation than I should have ever given this untalented girl… I have decided YOPE she’s an idiot.

  49. Awwtism says:

I hate them both but John Mayer could write a better song about John Mayer being a douche.

  50. Susana says:

    @ Awwtism

Agreed. Even him could do it better. But then again, being a douchebag or not, unlike her, he’s got musical talent.

    But your comment was funny!

  51. grace says:

@steh and sigh: you guys are so right!

I don’t blame her for fallen in love or whatever with a douche, but, please, when I was 19 I would never be writing so poorly and playing the victim. She has no talent as a songwriter, seriously.
She made a huuuuuge deal for being dumped by phone, then another because of KW, now another because of JM.
Does she have to go through 12 relationships to release an album?

  52. jham says:

you mean obscure, not oblique. obliques are the muscles of the lower abdomen. one of the hottest features of a man when they are toned 😉

  53. Cheyenne says:

Poor kid, she got laid and played. Yes, I feel sorry for her this time. But if she lets this happen again, she’ll bloody well be asking for it.

She learned a hard lesson this time around. Let’s hope it sticks.

  54. Emily says:

It’s unfair to compare her music to “You’re So Vain”. There won’t EVER be a “screw you” song as perfect as that one.

  55. I Choose Me says:

    @Stef & Love Angelina, A-freaking-men!

    Stop riding the wahhmbulance Swifty.

  56. isabella says:

    she is so retarded haha

  57. lin234 says:

John Mayer may sound like a douche but does anyone have personal one on one experience with him when he’s trying to woo you (to bed)?

It probably all seems so simple: avoid douche bags like John Mayer. But there are some people who sound awful on paper but are so charismatic in person. It’s not hard to see how a young girl could get caught up in his talent, success, and lies. Not to mention his “bad boy” image can be intriguing.

Everyone is laying on her but what about him? As a 33 year old man, why go after a 19 year old girl (besides the obvious answer)? He could screw any groupie any night of the week but he took time and energy with this one. Taylor was probably a Gold Star notch on his belt. It was just a boost for his ego. It’s just a shame it took a while for her to see that.

Her music is ok. There have been less talented people in the music industry (Britney Spears is a huge one.) In comparison, Taylor has a voice of an angel. She works hard, actually sings live at times, and wears underwear. Why all the hate?

Is her hair naturally curly? I wish I had curls like that! My hair is straight as a ruler.

  58. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Carly Simon’s the one who is vain, always bringing up the song every so often out of the ether, sans invitation and still steadfastly, and then pretending to bend a little, then ultimately refusing to name the intended. And darn it the people WILL care and WANT to KNOW!! Let’s all guess who he is? The guy who sold her a Panama hat with the Amarullo stain? That one uppity notary named Fritz? That cat named Cloudy who belonged to a married couple who were friends of Iris Murdoch’s? The wind (not a veiled reference to Cat Stevens)? Is it Cloudy the cat for some reason? Danny Amatullo from FAME, Carly? Oh, she’s so coy, I bet she thinks we still give a shit, huh?

    *

She’s no fun now that she’s not crazy anymore, but mid-’90s Tori ‘I’ve shaved every place where you’ve been’ Amos could make a dick roll up into itself and die. I do grant that she was in her thirties then, though. Automatically that’s going to add a complexity to whatever’s being expressed. And thirties, that’s probably like 78 in Taylor Swift years.

Taylor Swift, huh? My vote is no.

  59. Ruby says:

Stevie Nicks wrote a song about sleeze bag men- ‘Dreams’. Alanis wrote ‘You oughta know’, Carly Simon ‘You’re so vain’. These women were around the same age as Taylor when they were written. Taylor take note this is how you write songs of the same calibre. Then again maybe she was wrtting along the lines as ‘Dear John’ being a type of letter that is written in a moment of heartbreak/anger. Someone should tell her good song writing has nothing to do with PR. Even if she did date/hook up with Mayer. I like his music. Don’t know what he is like as a person. But art is sometimes better seperated from the artist. I am an English teacher and I have a bunch of 16 year olds who write better peotry than her lyrics, none of them have a record deal or money. I am glad I get to teach them about the beauty of genuine poetry and lyrics. Most of them are Swifty fans too and even they think she whines too much. Hopefully she will mature and write some memorable and classic songs. There is hope you yet Taylor.

  60. Sara says:

I don’t understand why girls and young women like her.

I grew up with Ani and Tori. Can anyone think of any artists now as good as they were? I really can’t think of any.

  61. Jules says:

I thought it was revealed a few months ago that “You’re So Vain” is about David Geffen.

  62. Dakota says:

I am going to say this. Remember we all was young & didn’t know what love is really about. 19 or 20 is an age were you still try to finger what life is all about. If I know back than. What I know now. Things would be different but I didn’t. I need to learn from my mistakes and pick myself up. Taylor sing from the heart and open up how life is. So I have to cut her some slack. When you are in your 20’s. You are in a different spot. Than in your 30’s and older.

  63. alejandro says:

There’s a clear difference between somebody like Alanis and Taylor besides the obvious talent the former has that the latter does not.

There was some class, and artistic integrity about the way she did You Oughta Know and other songs like Hands Clean. She didn’t make it so obvious and have her PR team leak insinuations to tabloid magazines to garner hype, sales, and attention like Taylor and co, did. There’s an obvious desperation and victimization in her music. She’s weak and it’s a turn off.

  64. cris says:

uhm fyi “Dear John” letters are written by the person who is doing the breaking up. the fact that she still chose this title and was in fact the dumped party makes her seem dumber then i thought. nothing clever or interesting here at all.

  65. Raylee Teagsten says:

Do all of you really think Taylor is the only singer or songwriter who writes about her own experiences and thoughts on her life? She’s just one who happens to openly say it. And since she openly admits that, you guys all sit here and criticize her thoughts and experiences (as if you’ve never made stupid moves in your own life, or never were 19), instead of looking at the song as if it was about nothing you knew about.
Think about your friends (or even yourself) and the douche-bag mistakes they’ve made or people they’ve been involved with and feelings you all had at certain times that you realize now where ridiculous and embarrassing.
All Taylor Swift is doing is using her own experience to make some tunes and a lot of money (newsflash – most artists do this). She just openly admits it. And it’s funny that you guys sit here and talk about who each song is about and judge the songs, based on what you think of her experiences and not even the song.
Bottom line, she’s selling albums, a lot of them. and she has a lot of fans. ridiculous amounts of fans. hmmm. sounds like she does her job pretty well. Anyway, have fun sitting at your computer, looking for more successful people to judge (which I find funny and pathetic since you’re not even good at doing that)

  66. racey says:

sometimes you listen to music because it’s light and happy or sort is just appropriate for the mood youre in, without it being musical genius. so her lyrics don’t have the poetic calibre of ginsberg, who really cares? she’s a teen popstar.
at least she sings and writes (her own songs) about real feelings she is having and experiences she has gone through (at only 20ish, which is still young), unlike a lot of other bull being played these days.
and honestly noone of us know her. and therefore shouldn’t really judge her about this john mayer thing. i mean how many times have we all been ridiculously infatuated with a guy and not realised there wasn’t much reciprocated?

ps cris. dear john letters are the letters girlfriends and wives sent to their loved ones at war. not breakup letters.

  67. Alicia says:

so what if YOU’VE been there done that…? she has too, and the difference is she makes the best of it and writes a song about it because thats how she deals with it. sorry if she doesn’t pig out on ice cream and watch the notebook like you do. sure she was warned and she made a mistake. don’t we all? isn’t that how you ended up on this site in your spare time judging girls who are waaay more successful than you are? she made a mistake and got her heart broken. we all knew it would happen but she took a chance because thats what successful people do. what did she do with those broken pieces? she wrote a song. its that easy.

  68. Cheryl says:

She must have dated John Mayer last year. Because the song says she was 19 then. Taylor will turn 21 this December. No matter how many times her heart was broken, I still adore her.

  69. Ellie says:

    A few comments:
    – Yes, her lyrics and music got old on her second album. I don’t know how many times I can listen to songs about 15 year olds kissing boys on staircases pretending to be a princess.

    – Her image leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think she seriously needs to reconsider who she wants to be writing music for, and what direction she wants this career to go in or she might as well get a tv show and write songs specifically for it – Sharon Lois and Bram any one?

    – Calling her names is unnecessary. I don’t enjoy her music, and I don’t think she makes intelligent choices but no one can really understand who she is unless they’ve walked a mile in her shoes. I’m sure she’s getting alot of pressure from her record company to continue writing these shallow and predictable songs because lets face it, they’re making her money! (Unfortunately that means there will likely be more on the horizon…)

    – Most importantly the girl is not a child. She may not have much experience dating, but she has a brain. I am the same age and can guarantee I am well ahead of her in maturity including regarding that of maturity in the relationship department. Yes, I too have been subjected to the jerks but let’s face it girls WE ALL ARE at some point! It is having the intelligence, maturity, and confidence to walk away from those situations before they become toxic is what differentiates between being a Taylor or not. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out if someone will hurt you down the road or not. It’s unfortunate that Taylor is yet to develop enough foresight to predict these situations before they happen. I kind of feel bad for her!

Geez louise, get over it people!

She is twenty, and thats still young. i mean we all complain that teens today are acting so much older than they shud, and here is a young girl only wanting to express her experiences of life love and loss and everyone is dissing her, i really dont see anything wrong with that. The simplicity of her music is refreshing compared to the trash you hear out there. If you dont like her music she’s not forcing anyone to listen to it.

Seriously. If any of us had the talent to write music about everyone who has broken our hearts then we’d all be rich. But we dont and she does, and so if she’s makin money out of writing songs about those who have caused her heartbreak, then good for her, she comes out the winner.

So maybe you should all just get a life. If you dont like swifty then comment on something that doesnt involve her, and go put on your trashy music.

T Swift is americas sweetheart! but y would she be so dumb as to talk to john he’s a complete douche bag! and now she’s dating jake geranimo u know the guy who had gay sex in Brokeback mountain ya that guy! she needs to wake up at least Lautner was her own age goodness swift get it together!

  72. tash says:

Honestly I love John Mayer but I would have thought most women (ESPECIALY famous ones) would know better than to go near John.

It really is a no brainer that you should stay away from him romantically. What did she think she could just twirl in with her cutesy blonde hair and white dress and innocence and chage him? LOLOLOLOL

Rapidly coming to the conclusion she’s not that bright….

  73. cynthia says:

man who the heck are you guys to judge? leave her alone already. if you dont like it then dont listen to it…its not that hard. im pretty sure all of you have made mistakes and if writing about it is her way to vent then shes allowed to do it! and shes getting money for it, i know you all wish you were as lucky as her, if i could write about life and get paid for it i would sure as hell do it! So everyone needs to just shut up and leave Taylor alone, like i said, if you dont like it dont listen to it, simple as that. Pretty sure no ones holding a gun to your head and forcing you to listen to it, so stop complaining.

  74. LOVE TS says:

Its A song, It doesn’t say, “You have to feel sorry for me, coz this happened!” She is simply telling it like it was! So disagree with most people here. I love Taylor Swift and enjoy her music and lyrics even if they are “obviously” about someone.

  75. Vicky says:

Her songs might be annoying and sickening because she keeps writting about romance and shit , but to a 13 year old like me , it’s really inspiring cause it seems like shes been reading my diary or something like that . like the song ” back to december ” that was when i really wanted to go back intime and undo things , she wrote a song thats exactly how i felt . shes my role model cause she knows how a girl feels , and truely feels . it’s like shes an older girl exactly like me experiencing problems just like the songs that she writes . so i don’t see what you guys are hating on her about.

  76. Vicky says:

and again , YESS , to some of those people who are standing up for taylor . she can vent all her feelings all she wants . if you guys dont like her , then dont listen to her music . simple as that . you all are just hating and saying shes sick cause you guys are jealous and want attention thats it . just don’t starting bsing about stuff like this , it’s stupid . i love taylor swift and her songs cause their amazing . stop hating and stop trying to get attention . if you wanna hate , go tell her yourself.

  77. Wesley Snipes says:

I think its funny that john pulled a hit and run on her …shes proly just rattled cause he stole her v card then blew her off ….looks like her fair tale world is starting to smack her in the face.

  78. Wesley Snipes says:

and it works perfectly for her she gets 2 songs out of it dear john to chirp mayer for smackin her up then bailin…and back to december when she realizes o crap maybe i shoulda let lautner pop my cherry.

  79. sarahburch says:

@Stef: thankyou for making my day!

  80. mary says:

OH MY GOT! PEOPLE, just read the comments after you! He acted like an idiot and everybody knows that she writes that kind of songs ! I love her and i think that she is awesome. Yeah, her first ‘Mayer’ kind of guys mistake, so what ? I’ll stand by Taylor forever and always ;).

  81. mary says:

@Vicky Thank you, finally a normal person 😉

  82. sara callahan says:

Taylor might have a terrible voice, but the girl can write music, play a guitar, look as cute as a button, and she doesn’t care who is sick of her…she is laughing all the way to the bank.

  83. Just Someone says:

I’m kinda a TS fan, but you gotta admit, she’s kinda a failure at relationships. Her songs are great alright, but she seems to never learn a lesson. However, we all want to find our true love, don’t we? Just this: Taylor Swift, PLEASE just learn a lesson. Don’t accept love so quickly! </3

  84. Koowie says:

Taylor is so sweet but she picks the wrong guys for boyfriends. Taylor stop falling in love with douchebags and look for the boy next door.

  85. Poppy says:

I hate it when adults act so high and mighty. You’ve been a child once, try to understand its not easy. Yeah we have fall outs, break ups and yeah we’re going to go through a lot worse but at the time it really does hurt. Stop being so insensitive and that she does it for publicity or that she always acts as the victim because thats not even true, her song ‘back to december’ is about how she was a douche to taylor and how she hurt him and she even says that. So seriously stop saying her songs are mediocre and crap because a lot of young girls look up to her, and so they should. She’s a good role model, she makes mistakes and moves on, and helps us to move on too. Oh and her songs aren’t poetic? I’m sorry this isn’t shakespeare, and have you even listened to her music? Sure, some are teenager shit, but most of it actually has a statement. She’s 20, and i’m sure as she gets older she’ll get even better. Leave her alone, dont be so judgemental. And her musics brilliant.

  86. Commentor says:

Dear John’s the first song I’ve liked that was written by Taylor Swift. There were some great metaphors, even if most were completely obvious…

“I lived in your chess game
But you changed the rules every day”

She was played in a game that she could never win because he kept cheating.

  87. Joey says:

I bet most of you people who are saying she needs to grow up are middle-aged women who forget what it’s like to be young and inlove. She’s innocent, and why is that a bad thing? She wants people to know exactly who shes talking about. i believe she once said.” i like writing their names into songs so theyre ashamed to go in public”
    love you forever taylor

  88. 95 says:

well…make sure u think before doing something damn. But really,i think swifts’ songs are good.
