Levi Johnston has no idea why people should vote for him for mayor

Levi Johnston was on The View on Monday trying to promote himself. He’s running for mayor of Wasila, Alaska as part of the plot for his as-of-yet unsigned reality show. Barbara really lit into him right off the bat, and it was amusing.

Barbara rips Levi
You and I have not met. I have to say that in my mind I have walked out on you many times. You became famous for impregnating a 17 year-old girl. You’re 20 years old, you don’t have a high school diploma yet, you don’t have a trade. Now you’re running for mayor. Would it not be better for you, instead of seeking publicity, to learn a trade, to find a job, to get an education and to support your son?”

Levi then gave Barbara and the rest of the panel yellow roses. It went downhill from there, though. “Um, I’m going to have to say, running for mayor is a job, that is the job I want to take.” When Barbara asked him if he was qualified for that job he lamely answered “There really are none. You’ve got to live in city limits for one year. You don’t need a high school diploma, which I’m working on anyway. I feel like it’s one of the biggest challenges of my life and I want to do it for me and my son.

Barbara countered that “there are people there who need jobs and the economy is not that good and there are other problems and you don’t think you need to have any experience?

Levi on how he’s qualified to be mayor
I believe.. you’ve got to listen to the people. I feel if I go around talk to people just like any other mayor. Like, maybe not now I might not be ready, but a year from now yeah.”

Sherri asked “You’ve got a depressed state, you’ve got people who have serious problems.. do you think that you are hurting the people of Wasila?

I don’t see how I’m hurting ’em any more than the next guy coming up saying ‘hey, I want to make a change for Wasila.'”

On his 2009 interview with Vanity Fair trashing Sarah Palin
I stand by everything I’ve ever said,” he offered without elaborating. This of course includes his allegations that Sarah Palin’s marriage is on the rocks and that Sarah wanted to keep Bristol’s pregnancy a secret and adopt the baby for her. Barbara brought all that up again and all he did was repeat the statement.

He has no idea why people should vote for him for mayor
Whoopi asked why people should vote for Levi instead of a more experienced candidate and he said very plainly “At this point in time, I couldn’t tell you.” This cracked me up so hard. He tried to explain “I said I was running for mayor, what a month ago?”

Sherri was all “usually when people say they’re running for mayor they’ve thought about it before they run.”

This kid is a joke and he has no clue. I honestly wrote that before I heard Whoopi tell him “I really want you not to be the joke people are making you out to be, because becoming mayor of a town is a big deal… Have you seen things around Wasila that have bothered you and that’s why you wanted to run?

Joy asked “What’s motivating you?” and Sherri wanted to know if he was a Republican or a Democrat.

On why he’s running
Levi would only say he’s a “conservative” rather than aligning himself with a party. His motivation was rather weak. “Wasila is a great place, I just want to keep it that way for my son and for everybody.”

On whether he’s running for mayor for a reality show
That’s how it got brought up, yes, but it’s become much more than that to me.”

Barbara concluded “I’ve been tough on you, but I have to give you credit. You came here, you didn’t walk out, you sat here you answered our questions as best you could.” Then she gave him his rose back! Yeah he’s a joke and I hope that the incumbent wins and that no networks pick up his reality show. This kid’s 15 minutes were up when he got shown on camera at the Republican National Convention with his pregnant fiance.

It makes me sick how everyone can be a “celebrity” nowadays. Blech. If people would just ignore these obnoxious fame whores, they’d go away. Eventually.

  2. MeMyself says:

What a douche, ugh, the entire family!

I am an American living in England and the Brits are always laughing and teasing me about them…embarrased for my country.

  3. Stephanie says:

Omg, he is a cocky douche.

GO BARBARA!!! Woot woot! The kid needs a friggin clue & he got schooled.

  4. LolaBella says:

The guy is a tool and like Barbara said, ‘You became famous for impregnating a 17 year-old girl.’

Bristol Palin is famous for being the 17 year-old girl that he knocked up. She and Levi are both trying to parlay this into ‘celebrity’ and we are just encouraging them by watching them and posting about them.

DWTS and The View are just giving these talentless famewhores platforms…WHY??

    Just go away. Ugh.

  5. maya says:

Why did he go on The View? What did he think they were going to ask him? Levi needs better management to make people interested in him since he clearly has no talent.

  6. Statler says:

Looks like he could use a training-bro/mansiere in those cardigan pics.

  7. Just a Poster says:

I loved how Bab’s added this little nugget
    “you didn’t walk out”

    Yep, Babs is still pissed!

  8. guesty says:

    what a tool.

  9. BReed says:

How do you spell I-D-I-O-T? I am sure HE doesn’t know. I don’t understand why THE VIEW would even have him on their show–are they hard up for booked “talent”?

  10. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

    He’s a fart in the wind… he’ll b gone soon enough.

  11. bizzy says:

I feel like [running for mayor]’s one of the biggest challenges of my life

no levi, your biggest challenge in life is that you’re a complete fracking eejit.

  12. happymom says:

I completely agree that this guy is a tool and has no business being a “celeb” or running for mayor of anything. That said, why the hell would The View have him as a guest?! I think the blame lies with them for having him on and perpetuating his “celebrity”. And I’m sorry, but Barbara Walters calling him out is pathetic-it’s her show, she had him on, and she has let plenty of other, more famous, guests come on and just lets them spin.

  13. tango says:

Well LollaBella, at least Bristol got her high school diploma (not GED but diploma)and worked a full time job after graduating to support her son before she started on DWTS. Levi doesn’t even work. So while both can be considered trying to cash in on their 15 minutes of fame, I can more understand why Bristol does it. She has to earn money to support her son because it’s obvious her ex doesn’t plan to any time soon.

  14. Stronzilla says:

Oh, she can lay into some 20 year old who she thinks has aspirations beyond his ken but Bill O’Reilly she lets do whatever he wants. This woman has lost it. She used to have a pair of solid, stainless steel balls but they’ve been replaced by a pair of BBs. And let’s not forget who the mother of the pregnant teenager is and not mention that these two are off tag-teaming it on DWTS. Talk about seeking publicity instead of learning a trade, finding a job or getting an education. Maybe the first act of the new mayor of Wasili should be to implement sex education in the schools because if Bristol Palin is any indication this is a subject that has been woefully neglected by the previos administration.

  15. Leticia says:

Stronzilla, you had to bring Bristol Palin into it, didn’t you? Even though this story is about Levi. No, I am not a fan of the Palins, but the level of hatred directed towards them amazes me.

  16. Rita says:

If this puke is elected, we need to ship his constituents across the pond to Russia. I’d love to be his opponent in the race. Corks would already be poping.

  17. Kelly says:

I agree with everyone who made the comment that crossed my mind the minute I started to read the article: HE’S A TOOL. That’s really it; say no more, say no more.

  18. original kate says:

yeah, he is as dumb as a box of hair, but that’s ok…sarah palin had no idea why we should vote for mc cain/palin, either. maybe levi should just jump on the “freedom express” and say things like “it’s about taking back america.” teabaggers will love it.

  19. Kelly says:

@original kate, “teabagging,” LOL. I bet Levi has some big droopy teabags for sure!

  20. Nick says:

He should just have said “I am a maverick” over and over. Levi whats your platform? “Maverick”

  21. Squirtle says:

Aww I kinda feel bad for him…he’s like a little boy trying to act like a grown up. Ugh that was pretty sad!

  22. Squirtle says:

EW and by the way was anyone else annoyed with Hasselbacks constant blabbing in the background when he was passing out roses, she’s like “0k answer Barbara’s question, let’s not waste time giving roses” Yeah he may be a joke but she’s just a hateful biotch!!! … And annoying as all hell!

  23. Amy says:

Ms.Walters never disappoints.Always the consummate journalist, she asks the right questions, no fooling around and walking out on interviwees. It’s all Joy’s fault that levi is misguided and have an inflated ego, she’s had Levi numerous times on her show like one big-shot, primarily to bash his son’s grandmother.

  24. Tibet Girl says:

    He looks doughy.

  25. Stronzilla says:

@Leticia, actually, Bristol Palin was brought into it via posts #4 and #13 before I mentioned her. And I mentioned her only to illustrate the bias displayed by Barbara Walters. She said Levi’s claim to fame was impregnating a 17-year old girl. Now, had she been just ‘any’ 17-year old girl then he would have not gained any notereity. Walters failed to mention this fact or that it takes two to tango (@tango, no pun intended). If the subject is publicity seeking stunts perpetrated by Palin family associates then he is not the only guilty party. As for the hardhitting question about whether he’s ‘qualified for the job’ and comparing the micro economy of Wasila to the economic problelms of the country on a macro level, please, I don’t have either the time or inclination to go there.

  26. abby says:

Okay, is his election for mayor THIS year? Because election day is less than a month away, and if he STILL doesn’t know what his plans are, he’s screwed.
But honestly, does anyone think he’ll actually be elected?
