Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt, 29, and her boyfriend of just over two years, Scottish actor Ross McCall, got engaged last November. McCall presented Hewitt with an antique engagement ring that has been in his family for over 100 years. Hewitt has said that she’s in no hurry to get married, but that she wants a small intimate ceremony and that they may have it at the spur of the moment if they feel like it.
Now the National Enquirer claims that Ross’ immigration status is threatened by the looming actor’s strike and that his work visa will no longer be valid if the strike happens. He could easily be deported back to the UK if that happened. In order to ensure that he’s a candidate for a green card, Jennifer is planning a wedding in the middle of the summer. From what I understand, he would still have to apply for a green card and go through a lengthy process in order to get permanent resident status even if they’re married. He’s a good candidate for a green card, though, considering how well documented and legitimate their relationship is:
If Ross remains single and an actors’ strike did occur, it’s likely he would be kicked out of the country and have to reapply for a new visa to return.
While negotiations continue and some show business analysts say the possibility of a full-on strike is unlikely, Jennifer is taking no chances, the soure said. The former “Party of Five” star, 29… because engaged to Ross in Hawaii in 2007…
Ross, 32, who’s had bit parts in the HBO series “Band of Brothers,” and “Ghost Whisperer,” was less bothered by his immigration status than Jennifer.
“She’s planning a small but elegant wedding to take place in midsummer, and can’t wait to become his bride.”

Even though Hewitt has said she wants a “private” wedding, I hope she releases some photos because I would love to see her dress and get some idea of the decorations at her reception. She seems like a genuinely good person, and someone who has managed to stay down to earth and keep their integrity in Hollywood.
In these photos of Hewitt and McCall taken on5/9/08 at the Step Up Women’s Network luncheon, I thought that McCall might be wearing a wedding ring already. It looks more like an insignia ring, though, and he’s worn it for some time.

Haha. I agree her husband on Ghost Whisperer is really hot. And doesn’t it seem they always drink the vino? Lovesit.
I laughed and told my husband that the set of that show is like lala land small town USA. Everyone is so happy and nice.I’m happy for her. So glad she ditched that sleazy john mayer (even if he did write that Wonderland song about her!) and is with someone low key. I have seen enough interviews with her that she seems grounded and so sweet. She’s one of my favorites.
