As we talked about yesterday, Demi Moore brought out her shiny hair and her glum-faced husband Ashton on Wednesday. It was the first red carpet for Demi and Ashton since the club girl/cheating allegations, and the body language was totally off between them. Demi had gotten her face extra-tweaked for the red carpet, and her fashion choice was… questionable. For his part, Ashton seemed like a zombie, but an affectionate zombie obsessed with touching his wife at all times. So… they’re out to prove something. I wonder what?
If that photo op wasn’t enough, they also made sure to pack on the PDA for the tabloids. People Magazine deemed the photos “The Look of Love” (barf). And Us Weekly had a glowing report, complete with eyewitness testimony: “They were holding hands almost the entire time on the carpet and were talking to each other softly and smiling in between photos. They looked very happy together and seemed to be very much in love.” Nothing gets the affectionate looks going like boning a club girl, I guess.
Meanwhile, not ones to rest on one photo op alone, they just flew to Austria for some sort of charity gala, which I guess is today? And these photos are from the photo call…? Sure. Why not. The body language is much more relaxed in these photos then on Wednesday night. They actually look kind of cute together. Well, Demi looks like the wrath of God, but I’ve been thinking that a lot lately.

Agreed Shelley. Yes, she has had a really good plastic surgeon but at some point, the basic characteristics of the face are going to change. That’s what’s happening now. She looks good, she just doesn’t exactly look like Demi anymore.

All those photos look staged. Especially the second to last photo where they are both basically flashing their wedding rings. To me, they do not still have that ‘spark’ they used to have.

What I don’t understand it’s when people comment that at the certain age celebrities who got plastic surgery “don’t look like themselves anymore”. There’s a good 20 years between the movie you first saw them in and these pictures. PEOPLE CHANGE ANYWAY! with or without plastic surgery. Why do you expect them to look the same?

I don’t think they’re out to prove anything or at least their current behavior isn’t a sign of it as it’s no different from before the allegations. They were always that way and it always looked a bit weird and off to most people.

I feel for these two, and for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and pretty much any celeb couple. Let’s say they are going through a rough phase. How much must it suck to have to put on these shows when behind closed doors you’re pissed off at each other all the time? I’ve been married 7+ years and we go through the normal ups and downs. It’s hard enough without having to put on the show and then have to hear everyone calling you out on putting on the show.
EDIT: on second thought…I feel less for Demi and Ashton since they put themselves out there, what with the (super obnoxious) Tweeting. But still. It must suck.

Demi probably gets a lot of work done, but she looks sooo good still. Wow. Anyway I don’t really care whether they stay together or not. I’m not sure why the media needs to obsess over these relationships. I’m guessing they don’t want to see an older woman / younger man succeed, but do people really care? If I could give them advice though it would be to lay off the tweeting, it’s tacky.
