Demi Lovato was doing lines of coke “like a pro” says eyewitness

43725, NEW YORK, NEW YORK - Wednesday August 18, 2010. Demi Lovato walks into her NYC hotel wearing a casual shirt-jeans outfit and leaves in a bedazzling sequined dress and heels! The Disney star was seen heading to the film premiere of Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam with the Jonas Brothers. Photograph:

The more we hear about Demi Lovato’s “breakdown” the more it seems like Demi was in much bigger trouble than her parents and handlers realized. Even now, the “official” story of Demi’s “treatment” is PR-friendly, and her handlers are trying to make it sound like the girl just has some emotional problems and she needs some sleep. Followers of blind items and fans of the nastier gossip have felt pretty strongly that Demi was into some really hardcore sh-t – cocaine, binge drinking, sex with Wilmer Valderrama, and probably much more. Life & Style has a new story in this week’s issue about Demi’s cocaine abuse (back when she was 17 years old), and they’ve gotten “eyewitness” testimony:

The intense pressure on Demi Lovato reached a breaking point when reps for the young star announced she “left her tour to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time,” issues such as cutting and eating disorders.

Now, new eyewitnesses confirm to Life & Style those problems are only exacerbated by the teenager’s heavy drinking and partying. Texas college student Brian Payne clearly remembers the night he spent hanging with Demi in North Richland Hills, Texas, where he saw her firsthand doing cocaine at a mutual friend’s house party on Dec. 28 last year.

“She was doing line after line like a pro — and she was 17 at the time,” he tells Life & Style, recalling the wild party they attended after a concert by the band Neon Indian at the Granada Theater in Dallas. “I just remember her doing it as if she had been doing it for a long time. It didn’t seem like something new to her.”

Insiders say the pain of her breakup with Joe Jonas — and the fact that they’re on the Camp Rock 2 tour together — further fueled her downward spiral. “Demi’s been on a tear lately,” says an insider. “She’ll chug booze straight from the bottle.”

Luckily for Demi, her mother and stepfather were quick to take action after they heard that she had punched a tour backup dancer in the face.

“They overheard one of the dancers talking about it and freaked out,” says the insider. “They heard Demi was drinking, but the news that her partying was getting out of control shocked them — and they confronted her immediately.”

“This is a young girl who got caught up in the fame and fortune of Hollywood and couldn’t see straight anymore,” says another insider. “She had eating issues and emotional issues, and everything else got hitched along with that.”

[From Life & Style]

I believe it, all of it. Except one part – I think her parents have known for a long time that Demi has had serious issues, and they only stepped in to do something when her alcohol and drug abuse became so bad it threatened their paychecks. I think Demi has had emotional, drug and alcohol problems for years, and the “airport meltdown” incident was only her latest cry for help. Sad.

Wow! I feel really bad that her life has spiralled out of control. Being a young star seems to come with a lot of pressures, which they cannot handle. I think that maybe parents should reconsider pushing and/or allowing their children to enter the industry at such a young age. I think that if they are serious about becoming stars, then they should wait until they are mature enough to understand all that comes with being a star.

  2. Samigirl says:

I hope one day this little girl will write a tell-all or something. Denial isn’t going to help her recover. Look at Drew Barrymore. She owned up to EVERYTHING, and the woman is on top of the world. Maybe the same can happen for Demi.

  3. Marjalane says:

Man, I’m beginning to think Enty really IS an entertainment lawyer! His past blinds are coming home to roost in a big way lately!

  4. Hater from Siloam Springs says:

Who will write the first Joe Jonas punchline for this story? I’m busy today …

  5. alejandro says:

Welcome the new generation of trainwrecks.

  6. meg says:

it’s sad, but i think you’re right. why don’t parents have their kid’s best interest at heart anymore??? I would’ve ripped that girl home by the hair and grounded her a$$- contract or no!!!

  7. brin says:

I’m glad she’s getting help, she took the first step & that’s good news.

  8. danielle says:

Hope she gets the help she needs. :^( Beautiful girl.

  9. Hollowdoll says:

I hope she can pull her self together sooner than later. The longer she lives in denial the bigger chance she ends up like Lindsey.

  10. Bodhi says:

Luckily for Demi, her mother and stepfather were quick to take action after they heard that she had punched a tour backup dancer in the face.

Luckily they took action THEN? WTF? They should have taken action WAY before she hauled off & socked that girl. If she is as bad off as is universally agreed, there is no way she could have hidden all of this from her momager & step-dad. Lohan 2.0

  11. Kricket says:

rut roh. is she going the Lohan route?!

  12. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

poor girl. Please Please Please do not turn out to be a Lilo or Brittany.

    Learn your lesson, straighten up!

  13. neelyo says:

They’ll probably rush her through rehab to get her back on tour, do the usual PR rounds to promote her recovery and lessons learned, and we’ll see a repeat of this cycle in a year or two.

Celebrities never get clean when there’s money to be made. They just get clean enough.

  14. devilgirl says:

It would be interesting to know how “innocent” the Jonas Brothers really are. All these other Disney folk have issues, I can’t imagine there aren’t a few skeletons in their closet somewhere, rattling around.

  15. truthSF says:

    Johnny Depp’s Girl:

poor girl. Please Please Please do not turn out to be a Lilo or Brittany.

Too late. Once you sign a contract (sell your soul) with Disney, it’s all downhill from there.

  16. KO says:

I’m no expert in cokeheads, but can’t you tell if someone’s doing coke by the person’s physicality? Don’t they gain weight or lose weight and lose a ton of hair? If she were a pro I would imagine you would be able to tell. Lohan looked f*cked up, it was easy to tell there was a problem with hard drugs. It could easily be the makeup and glamor but Lovato doesn’t look like a cokehead in these pics.

  17. Arianna says:

now that i’ve read this, every pic i see of her, her eyes look drugged out

  18. jc126 says:

Doing lines like a pro? A pro what?

  19. Obvious says:

@devilgirlThe Jonas’s boy sold their souls to the devil for Disney contracts. Have you heard them sing or watched them try to act? there is no talent there. (synthesizers and autotune are amazing-britbrit)

I’m hoping selena gets a way unscathed. She’s 18and isn’t out all the time and isn’t as high profile-maybe we’ll have our second Disney star to grow up and mature out of the fold.

  20. shayrlmj says:

poor girl.. even it’s a little late, at least her parents took action. I really hope she is getting the help she needs and not just a band aide.. these poor kids have so much money and fame.. it’s really messing them up.

  21. lucy2 says:

I feel bad for her too, she’s so young to be in that bad a situation. I can’t imagine her parents didn’t at least suspect something was going on.
Hopefully getting into treatment now will work for her, I too would hate to see another Lohan like situation, years of addiction and denial.

OMG that blind item is awful. Let’s hope it was greatly exaggerated.

  22. Wendy says:

@ KO: You really can’t just spot a cokehead. It does cause some weight loss but since most people in Hollyweird are skinny to begin with you probably wouldn’t notice that. The way to tell is usually by watching the addict’s behavior. If there were more obvious physical symptoms, we’d see them in half the actors out there ;-)

  23. MSat says:

I guess I am an old fart because I don’t know who the hell this girl is. But I do know that she has had more publicity in the last week than she’s ever had before, because this is the first I’ve heard of her!

  24. spinner says:

Enty is indeed a lawyer…just not an entertainment lawyer.

  25. archiepelago says:

@NayNay, I couldn’t agree more with you, however, the industry itself is creating a lot of these problems. Everyone wants them young and age is becoming more and more of a dirty word in Hollywood. If you are not a teenager who an agent or manager can ‘build’, then they want you to have an established career and credits. Therefore, it’s way harder for someone in their 20′s to enter the industry and gain the same momentum in their careers as a child star (who by the time they are in their 20′s are seasoned. The catch 22 is that by their mid 20′s some child stars are burnt out or addicted because of poor guidance/parenting). Not saying it doesn’t happen but the cultivating of kids and grooming them into stars is what people want (especially in music). Disney thrives on it because teenage audiences are where the money is at in music and marketing. I know a lot of performers who in their late 20′ are giving up because they are told they are too old to start. It’s stupid.

  26. V says:

I blame JOE JONAS!!!! He is a womanizing little pig! VIRGIN MY A*&!! Demi be strong girl! Maybe give Selena a call I’m sure you could use your old friend back!

  27. 4Real says:

I can’t imagine this girl not knowing how beautiful she is? She is adorable! Joe is GAY BABY!! It’s not YOU!

  28. marie says:

How could they not tell with her serious case of cokeface? Look at her face. That isn’t babyfat. That’s bloat.

  29. kaykay says:

Wow…those bullies messed her up good…or else she wouldn’t announce how she doesn’t care cuz deep down…she never felt accepted…I wouldn’t put her in a lilo categogory. Lilo squandered her chances. I wouldn’t say bad things about Demi, juss seek help. Wilmer valderama is a dousche.

  30. Blondie says:

Why would any parent let / allow / encourage their child to get into Hollywood as a youngster – apart from Dakota Fanning there doesn’t seem to be any child/ teen star that isn’t into hard drugs, binge drinking and wild imappropriate sex

Guess the answer is the parents pay packet!

  31. Kim says:

This has been known about her for a long time. Like years! She has openly approached people at parties asking for cocaine. Sad it took this long for people in her camp to get her help.

  32. samanthalous says:

I think she just made some wrong choices, like dating a Jonas and losing her bff.

  33. Chris says:

I remember an interview with Ozzy Osbourne once where he said that people would come up to him and say “why do you warn people against using drugs you came out it okay” and Ozzie said “Okay? If I don’t take my medication I’m a fucking maniac”. But I feel sorry for this girl’s parents, it’s hard enough keeping teenagers on the right path, but if your kid was cashed up and had the pull of coke snorting show biz types putting pressure on them it’d be hard to deal with.

  34. Camille says:

Pretty girl. Lindsay 2.0. How long til Sam Ronson gets her claws and powerful vadge of doom into her?

  35. The Bobster says:

Of all the allegations, boning Fez has to be the worst of the lot. This is how LiLo started off.

  36. di butler says:

Does it always have to be “The New Britney” or “Lindsay 2.0″? This girl obviously has some serious issues of some sort, but who knows? Maybe not. It’s not like all 18 yr olds get followed by paps everytime they go out and drink til they barf their shoes or sleep with a random hookup. Quit comparing for heaven’s sake! She’s herself, not Lindsay or Britney or Selena or Miley or Hillary or etc…….

  37. Chris says:

    The new Dana Plato?

But seriously, celebrities with drug problems are nothing new.

Actually, speaking of Dana Plato, not only was she a drug addict but, like Lilo, she was also bisexual. Sadly, like her, her son Tyler committed suicide this year at age 26. Check it out:

  38. mollination says:

And the saddest part of all? This is the most I have ever heard of this girl’s name, and her star is probably growing brighter by the minute.

What the hell has happened to this world of our’s? Remember when scandals damaged celeb’s careers?

  39. Blaster says:

Kaiser, ish just got real!!!!! Look:

Imagine when/if this comes to light. There will be NOTHING Disney and/or her reps will be able to do…Seriously, she is the one in the blind item…

  40. Isa says:

I really like her clothing in these pictures.

Her PR team is going to be doing a lot of work the next few months. No holidays for them!

  41. Innocent says:

I totally believe this is true but don’t know about a video existing.
    Look at linjhs post

She clearly has a lot of issues hopefully she is getting some proper help

  42. Nikki says:

I don’t believe any of this bollocks.

  43. SammyHammy says:

Lindsey Lohan 2.0 in the making…
