Sad news! British papers are reporting that Kate Winslet and her boyfriend of four months, Louis Dowler, are over. Dowler was/is a popular British model, aged 35, who is friends with the likes of David Gandy (CB mentioned that she would like to see Louis and Gandy makeout). Louis was Kate’s first boyfriend after splitting with her husband Sam Mendes in March of this year. Kate and Louis got together quickly, and almost instantly began showing up for red carpets and candid shots together – they looked nice together, but I think many of us felt like Kate was just hittin’ it with her hot piece and that it wasn’t a true love connection. The Daily Mirror theorizes that Kate was the one to call it off, because she wanted to focus on her career and her children.
Kate Winslet has parted from boyfriend Louis Dowler after just four months of dating.
The Revolutionary Road actress, 35, separated from her film director husband Sam Mendes in March and hoped to have found a new life with model Louis.
But despite being “very grateful” to the hunk, the pair are thought to have broken up so Kate can “concentrate on her career and children”.
A source said yesterday: “Louis was just what Kate needed after her split from Sam and they had a wonderful time which helped her move on.”
When asked about the break up, Louis, 35, said: “Unfortunately, I don’t talk about my private life.”

Sad. But Kate will bounce back. But will she bounce back with a hotter piece? Personally, I doubt it. Kate doesn’t seem obsessed with looks, and I see her ending up with some kind of power-player, like Sam Mendes. Perhaps a producer or another director. As for Louis, God knows. Maybe my lover David Gandy will bring Louis over to my house so I can cook for them, and then they’ll show me their Thanksgiving Dongs.
Also – this just occurred to me – you know how Rachel Weisz is single now? Remember, Rachel dated Sam Mendes just before Kate Winslet got with him – is anyone else feeling a Weisz-Mendes reunion? God knows, that junk with Daniel Craig probably won’t last.

It must just be me, but when my ex and I split, all I did was focus on my kids and career. I spent 2 YEARS normalising my children, getting them levelled off after the divorce; THEN I started dating. What is WRONG with people?!?

I’m with Bellaluna. I confess that I tried to hit the meat market sooner, but I’m in my 40′s and have two kids. Single men my age (well, I like them a bit younger) like the untethered hot things, and besides, they’re all going through their mid-life crises. So, I have NOT had men throwing themselves at me (unless they want a “casual relationship”-not interested).
In the end, though, I’m glad things worked out that way, because I have been able to concentrate on my kids and earning a Master’s degree (insanity!, but also job security…) without having to cater to some guy who has no clue as to how hard this whole scene is. My ex is a good dad and has stepped up with the grad degree situation, so I think after three years everything will be okay and I will be able to earn a decent living and buy a better place for me and the kids to live. As for a man in my life-meh…
This is what life is really like for most divorced women-no hot pieces knockin’ at the door, no money for designer dresses and expensive F-M shoes to wear for a saucy night out.

@ REALIST – Congrats to you! Awesome, you getting your Master’s. I’m so glad your ex is a good dad – mine was not. And I’ll tell you what: I had accepted my reality; actually decided I would raise my kids as a single mom, maybe get married again after they were grown and gone. I shit you not, that very month I met my current hubby, and we’ve been married almost 10 years.

NOT digging the dress(es? Both look the same) and WTH he’s wearing jeans and a cardie in the first batch…anyway, the dress would’ve looked better with a little black jacket, maybe some tights, a cool necklace, a push-up bra FFS…but ew, nada loca, it’s just so cookie-cutter blasé little black dress boring…last pic’s nice though.

As for Kate, I’m with Kaiser-she likes men who have power. Sam Mendes-true love, or great career move? One the other hand, I don’t know how far she could go past getting a Best Actress Oscar.
