We finally have a picture of the elusive couple that have yet to be given a combined nickname. I vote for “Jaylor.” A bystander photographed Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift getting coffee and breakfast together in Nashville on Saturday, just two days after they were allegedly seen ordering Maple lattes in Brooklyn. On Friday I reported a story from US Weekly that Jaylor was holed up at a hotel in London for a no-longer “secret” tryst earlier this month. A lot of you yelled at me for being so naive about a romance that had the whiff of a PR stunt. It probably still smells foul to some of you, but I’m buying it. These two seem like they’re together, they’re doing couple-y stuff, and the press is either eating it up or making it up. If the blurry photo is a PR stunt, it’s a genius move. Here’s People’s report.
It’s been a busy travel weekend for most Americans – and especially for Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Two days after enjoying maple lattes together in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Thanksgiving, Swift and Gyllenhaal popped up in the singer’s hometown of Nashville.
On Saturday afternoon, the couple were spotted getting a late breakfast at Fido, a coffeehouse and café near Vanderbilt University and Music Row.
“They were smiling and laughing. They were talking a lot and enjoying each other’s company,” fellow diner Elaina Mishu tells PEOPLE. “They didn’t look like [just] friends.”
Customer Emma Rice, who snapped a photo of the pair, calls the duo “very cute” and says, “They seemed close.”
The singer, 20, and actor, 29, were first spotted together in late October.
And while Gyllenhaal has avoided commenting on his relationship with Swift, they aren’t hiding their affection.
“They were not trying to be discreet by any means,” another eyewitness says of the pair, who sat at a table near a window. “They were definitely a couple. They looked very happy.”

Now, the fact that People was one of the first outlets to get this photo is suspect to me, especially since they breathlessly reported that “maple lattes on Thanksgiving” story. These two have been apple picking, they love fancy coffee, and they’re traveling around the world together. I get why a lot of you suspect that it’s some publicist’s vision of an ideal romance. It’s certainly playing out like one, complete with a strategically leaked photo. Perez ran this photo too, and said a reader sent it to him. He didn’t even draw on it or stick his logo on it. Someone had to be sending this around and it doesn’t seem like they posted it anywhere before notifying the celebrity outlets. Wouldn’t a “real person” put it up on Facebook or Twitter first? The plot thickens.

The more they are seen together the more I am conviced they are faking it. Spending Thanksgiving with each others families after dating for 1 month? If they are still in the early stages and trying to keep it private, then why are there constant, weekly updates on their “romantic dates” and “love-ins” and why are there private dates written about with such loving detail? Oh, I know. Because they were written by a publicist who has the inside scoop.
Call me a skeptic, but I think these updates are for the purposes of the weekly tabloids. Taylor has an album to schill, Jake has a rom-com to sell.

The more I see of Taylor Swift, the more I think she’s a bit of a fake; This whole cotton candy romance makes me think it’s about image rehab for both of them. Jake’s (still-ha!) not gay, and Taylor is a big girl now that dates men who “obviously have sex with her”. Also- I spend a lot of time in Nashville and there are tons of local paps that hand around all the bars and restaurants- country sells too, I guess. I think this was staged.

The girl who took it did have it up on twitter (and tumblr and flickr) first. You can see the ONTD post that was up way before people. Then she sent it (or sold it) to People and took it down from all her personal sites.
Obviously the picture wasn’t faked or some stunt, she was just there when they were and whipped out her cell phone. But the relationship as a whole is FAKE FAKE FAKE.

UGH! The whole thing makes me ill. I don’t see how it could be anything other than PR. There are too many coincidences. Unless JG has the mentality of a 20 yo girl, I don’t know what he sees in her. Reese didn’t want to be the dumped wife like Jennifer Aniston, Jake needed a beard and she needed quickly a man. They both got something out of it. Just because you saw them drinking coffee together doesn’t mean Jake was ever a big part of her life. To her children he was just a friend.

What is with that girl’s hair. It should be great but argh!!! The “curly” always looked so done, I could just picture her in the moring with her wavy crimper. But the straight hair just makes her look really plastic. Maybe because it’s perfectly straight.

I don’t think Jake is gay. I think Ted C is a creepy jerk who is only right 1/2 the time (usually with stuff everyone knows) Toothy Tile could be anyone. I find that there are other site whose blind items seem more real to me (all blind items have to be taken with several grains of truth).
My own take Jake got his heart broken by Kristen and was humiliated by Reese and is looking for someone younger eventhough its unhealthy ALOT of men do this. And again this isn’t a posed pap walk these are two people in some of the least pretentious neighborhoods hanging out they aren’t even being affectionate.

the whole jake-reese-jim toth thing is totally transparent. jake and reese were a PR stunt and the proof (to me) was how quickly she fell into the ‘public’ relationship with jim toth after she ‘split’ with jake. i believe she was with toth the entire time and that jake was just a friend.

This relationship doesn’t bother me. I think it’s both real and for the convenient PR. Is there some rule it can only be one or the other? If so, the Brange broke that a long time ago.
The age difference also doesn’t bother me because Taylor Swift is not the average twenty year old, I don’t think even for Hollywood. I think she’s sweet and friendly, and I also think she has a control freak demanding side. She doesn’t just write the songs, she writes them, sings them, plays music on some of them, then helps produce them, all on the most successful album in years. Everyone has said she’s very VERY involved in her image and everything related to her PR. That’s not your average sweet innocent 20 year old running their own life. As sweet as she may be, I think she’s probably older than she is in most aspects of her life.

According to various people who saw them at Fido, they sat right near the door facing the window and more than one person mentioned how incredibly tactile Taylor was towards Jake. Both people said she was REALLY touchy feely (hands all over type of thing) but he wasn’t like that with her at all. If you were trying to be discreet with your relationship, why go to a coffee shop next to Vanderbilt Uni where it’s full of late teens, early 20-somethings who would have recognised them instantly and partake in some serious PDA when you’re seated right near the window? Sounds to me like they wanted people to notice them. Oh, and someone else mentioned that they were also in Whole Foods together and Jake wore his sunglasses inside the store the whole time. How lame.
I still maintain that this is PR (although they probably are sleeping together) which will fizzle out once the publicity tour ends for both of them. We’re all noticing and talking about them as a couple so it maintains interest in the both of them and their respective projects. Come Jan/Feb it will all end as quickly as it started.

Brokeback Mountain is irrelevant. People think Jake is gay because he makes their gaydars explode. Also there have been 10 years of rumors about Toothy Tile, who is JG. Also, his relationship with Reese was pretty obviously fake. There are blind gossip items about JG cruising for gay sex that are pretty bold and pretty clearly aimed at him. I agree with previous poster – why would a 30 year old man want to hang with a 20 year old? This way she has the cover of a “boyfriend” and can do whatever she wants behind the scenes. I think it’s funny when people apply normal, regular, everyday standards to celebrities! Even from the limited exposure I’ve had to celebs in charity/benefit events, I can see that they totally live in their own worlds with their own rules. Most of them don’t go to the bathroom without an assistant holding their hand. To assume that because Reese Witherspoon “seems” like she’d never work a beard relationship, and that she’s a “good” mother, (how do you know that?) doesn’t make it true. Celebs make sure we see what they want us to see.

It’s not just about the age of legal consent. It’s about the mind frame of someone so young. They are easily manipulated by someone so much older.
I would feel the same way if it was an older woman / young man. And yes she may be mature for her age. (I don’t see her that way, based on interviews etc.) But having a relationship with that douche Meyers, kinda proves my point. Doesn’t seem very smart. Having spent many a morning at this coffee shop I know that it is ALWAYS packed on weekend mornings. So it is not surprising that they had a photo taken of them by a nonprofessional and also took the first availiable table be it at a window or tucked away in cozy corner. However if they are trying to keep their relationship on the DL then this was the WRONG place to go. But I am sure that Taylor was doing bfast suggestions (since they were in her hometown) and I get the feeling that she LOVES people knowing she is with Jake.
Also, in regards to the comment that this is an unpretentious part of town, um, no.

Don’t know if he is gay or not. But I think this is definitely a PR relationship. She was turning 21 and didn’t have a boyfriend–he had been dumped so this works out. Also, he is from a very wealthy and privileged family so I would bet her parents heartily approve. See-they have lots in common.
