These are new photos of Nicole Kidman in NYC this morning, entering the Good Morning America set (the video of the interview is below). I am seriously not trying to be mean, but Nicole is no longer a sample size, and she should stop trying to harness herself into those size zero or size two clothes. I’m not saying she looks bad – at all. Nicole looks great when she’s got a little meat on her bones, and who doesn’t gain a little weight in their stomach, right? I’m just saying, this dress is wrong, and she should have either gone one or two sizes up, or just gone for a different look.
Anyway, Nic was on GMA to promote her leading role in Rabbit Hole, the film that is getting some critical buzz. Notably, EW’s critic said that it was one of Nicole’s finer performances of the past few years, mainly because her face is now capable of some movement. To me, the film looks like the kind of weepy grief porn that is made just to be some kind of Oscar-bait, but whatever. I’m happy for Nicole, and I’m happy that she’s returning as a somewhat interesting actress. I winced several times during the interview though – even though we’re hearing about “The Return of Nicole Kidman’s Face”, she is still tweaking that sh-t. And as Lainey says, the third lip is still there. Plus: she looks strangely overly-rouged.

She definitely looks 100 times better with a bit of weight on, though she’s still tiny that dress is too tight, how on earth did she sit down in it.

I cannot stop laughing (not meanly, swear) because the last photo reminds me of me when I tried to wear something similar after I had gained some weight….she is gorgeous….just wear something else.

She does look better than she has in a long time. Rabbit hole will probably be a rental for me. It looks too sad for a movie night out. Im glad shes getting buzz though, Ive always admired her as an actress. She just needs to stop messing with the aging process and let it happen. It reminds me of 30 rock where liz asks jenna if she wants to be a meryl or a madonna.

she did get a fuller figure after the birth of lil’ strawberry shortcake…but she looks like she’s on her monthly here. i look the same way now.
p.s. – shout out the interviewer who said “you’ve got ’3 beautiful children’. i hope the rest of the media follows suit.

The funny part is that she is still skinny, but because the dress is too tight, it makes her look heavier than she really is.

I think it is pretty awful that in film reviews the critics talk about Nicole’s face and body rather than her acting ability. Granted, she did undergo some procedures that left her somewhat immobilized, but still those procedures were likely done because of pressure within the film industry to stay young and beautiful otherwise you will lose parts and become irrelevant. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Doesn’t matter what performance you give, if you are a woman, all we’re going to talk about is how fat you look and how frozen your face is.
My problem with this system is how one-sided it is, not one movie critic will mention how bloated and unattractive Johnny Depp looks in The Tourist (but I wouldn’t be surprised if they comment that Angelina looks too thin!). No critic will publish an article pointing out the obvious fact that in reality a paunchy, frumpy Adam Sandler would never have two beautiful and impossibly fit women like Brooklyn Decker and Jennifer Aniston fighting over him (but they will say that Jennifer looks too old for romantic comedies!).
What gives?

as for the “three kids” controversy, i mean come on, she DOES have 3 kids and we can’t possibly know her relationship with them so it’s a bit unfair to say that she doesn’t care about them as the media likes to suggest.

I’m almost positive that dress is L’Wren Scott. Those things look too tight on the runway. I’ve never seen any celeb wearing one that didn’t fit just like this. I don’t get it but I think it’s a designer thing rather than Nicole being much bigger.

@Lisa Turtle – I will say it – Johnny Depp looks pale, bloated and generally awful in the early stills from The Tourist.
No one has aged as poorly than Tom Hanks, however. I recently saw “The Bonfire of the Vanities” from 1989 and was shocked to find him looking pert and cute. He looks like a double-shot of Vince Vaughn these days.
Vaughn is another member of the men-aging-badly club, and Leo DeCaprio is trying hard to join. I think the club was founded by Robert Redford.

Definitely needed to go up a size or two in that dress, but she does look good other than the ill fit (don’t mean that in a “hip” way). It’s not as if she CAN’T afford to buy new sizes.

Our social standards are just so different, we judge women by much harsher standards, have to be a perfect mom who works and keeps herself looking beautiful well into her middle age. A major source of the discrepancy is the way we treat men and women in the public eye.

I’m pretty sure that dress looks how it’s supposed to look – it’s supposed to be fitted like that. I actually think it works on her – only the tall and narrow can get away with something like that, and obviously most of you don’t think she IS getting away with it.

I’ve been a fan of Nicole’s since Dead Calm. She can do no wrong. Her stylist needs to stop sending her clothes that are too small. Or maybe this ‘too small’ look is current fashion? Love her regardless.

That is simply a horrible dress, I don’t think it would flatter anyone. With that collar I think the best I can come up with is calling it a Puritan throwback.
Nicole looks better than she has in a long time, and I’m sure it’s because she’s put on a few pounds. Her face looks much less gaunt and ice-queeny.

I think it fits her fine. People have stomachs, it’s no big. I agree with whoever said it makes her look sensual. Reminds me of Pulp Fiction and the chick who really wanted a pot belly.

That looks so uncomfortable! I’ve looked like that before… in the dressing room of stores as I try on something that doesn’t fit. If you have to struggle to move and breathe, it’s not the right size xD

@Little Dead Girl – You may be right on that. I certainly don’t mean that she’s ‘large’ by any stretch of the imagination. It just looked like such an effort to get her into it.
But even the most beautiful bodies can be effected by an unflattering cut to clothing. It often creates ‘bulges’ where there are none.
