Comedian Kathy Griffin stripped down to a camo bikini accessorized with a bullet belt as part of the Vh1 Divas Salute the Troops concert. The show was taped at a Marine Corps air station in Miramar, CA on Friday and aired on VH1 Sunday. Kathy was the host for the event, which included performances by Katy Perry, Paramore, and Nicki Minaj. (If you’re in the US you can watch video of the show on VH1’s site.) This is by no means the first time that we’ve seen Griffin in a bikini, but she wears it well and you can hardly blame her for showing off her skinny assets. Griffin was wheeled into the show on what looked like a missile and accompanied by several servicemen and women. She tried to kiss one guy before launching into her opening monologue. (That video is the second one below.) Her opening line was “I came in on a missile. Now I know what it’s like to be a Kardashian. I mean the one that married Lamar Odom.”

In a nod to the USO-themed show, Griffin’s two-piece was camouflage and accessorized with a belt made of bullets.
The special airs on VH1 on Sunday, and features performances from Katy Perry, Keri Hilson, Sugarland and Nicki Minaj.
Griffin Tweeted excitedly about meeting Perry, 25: : “I swear, first thing [Perry] said ‘You’re my idol’ Wha??? Watch out Cher!”

Unlike some other female comedians we hear from way too frequently, Kathy is actually pretty funny and she doesn’t take herself too seriously. She could stand to gain 10 pounds though. I think she looked better in her bikini photo ops last year.
Here’s the intro to the show ‘Welcome to Operation Ragin Cougar’ (only plays in the US). My favorite part is when she indicates her cleavage and asks “Have you ever been deployed to this region? [her boobs] Because your orders just came in.”

She looks good for 50, but she’s also admitted to plenty of plastic surgery so, whatever.
Kathy Griffin is awesome and she looks fabulous for someone half her age. Yeah, I know she’s had work done but she is honest about it and if I looked like that I don’t blame her for spreading the love around like she is.
I just have tremendous respect for her because despite her feelings about the war, she does USO shows and has even done them in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not many bigger names do that. No offense to country fans but most of the bigger names they get out there are country musicians. Not everyone out there is into that (but my understanding is they go anyway to break the monotony).
She definitely looks good for her age but I’d be more impressed if she did it without a surgeon’s help.
Haven’t our troops had to go through enough? The poor guy who had to kiss her should get the Purple Heart.

Surgery alone doesn’t give you a bod like that – there’s good genes and a lot of hard work at play there!

I think that is a lot of work.. because she has never had good genes. She is coming from the ugly girl syndrome.. she always considered herself very ugly and frumpy… the reason for her surgeries.

I love Kathy Griffin and yeah she’s had a lot of work done but she’s also got a great body and I doubt that’s all lipo. She is an example of how you can make shocking comments and razz celebs without ever being nasty most importantly because she is high-larious.

When I was in the Marines, I was lucky to see Bob Hope do one of his last shows. Man, has standards fallen when this mean hag is hired to entertain them.

I think she’s funny but I don’t get the people defending her as not a “bully”. Her whole routine is based on the fact she picks on a dozen or so people. Over and over again. That’s the definition of a bully.
Also, the troops don’t need to see her fifty year old ass, as nice as it is for someone who is fifty, half naked on stage. If they must have eye candy for the troops make it a boy (for the straight service women cause they need some love too) and a girl in 20’s/30’s.
Her comedy is the same type as Don Rickles. The kind you see at roasts. I find I disagree with her immensely when it comes to her politics. I do think some of her jokes cross the line (yes, it pisses me off when people of Bristol Palin’s size are called “fat”) but she is very talented and funny. I saw her live in Alaska and she was great.
I love what she did for her wedding. Instead of gifts, she had her guests give donations to amFar. I think that is a wonderful idea.

gotta give it up to someone 2x my age with an amazing body. sure she got some lipo but she has to be extremely dedicated to maintain that shape and level of fitness!!! her plastic surg doesnt look ridiculous/scary catwomanish like all the other women her age (or younger) on the “real housewives” shows.

Hamm is my Dream Man: I’ve watched most of her specials and at least a dozen episodes of her shows so I have seen her, no reason for you to assume I haven’t. She makes fun of people for a living. I guess that may or may not be bullying depending on your definition. Don’t get me wrong I think she’s funny but her humor is sarcastic and I imagine hurtful to those she attacks … for example she repeadly picked on Paula Abdul and called her crazy and alot of hurtful names. I think Paula Abdul is crazy but to say that she wasn’t being picked on or bullied is I think insincere. I do find her funny though and I watch her stuff so I’m not attacking her for her show …
I’m kind of ‘eh’ about her comedically. She has funny moments – and I haven’t seen this special so I can’t comment.
I will say that I saw these photos posted elsewhere and she was quoted saying she was ‘starving’ – and that doesn’t sit right with me. She looks sick-skinny to my eyes and saying you are starving (even as a joke) to look good is a bad body image to put out to the public. This is also a perfect example of why skinny doesn’t always look great on everyone. She DID look better with 10 more lbs on her.
Any 50 year old woman who will strip down to a bikini to entertain our troops is alright with me.

It’s nice that she does USO tours, but I don’t find her funny at all. Her jokes to me either simply fall flat or are very heartlessly cruel and fall flat.
Chelsea Handler and Joan Rivers are much funnier. At least they’re funny when they’re mean and tasteless. Kathy only knows how to be mean and not how to be funny.

I LOVE Kathy Griffin because she not only makes me laugh but she gives me hope. I’m no beauty queen (and Kathy’s pretty damn attractive . . . but I know Hollywood’s standards are unattainable: hence, Kathy’s “ugly duckling syndrome”) but I wish I were and like to act as if I am and would totally pull something like Kathy did here:
