Yesterday In Touch ran a story that we were about to cover which claimed that an American journalist in Amsterdam was hit on by John Mayer in a “coffee shop” there. According to In Touch, she recognized him but didn’t let on that she knew who he was. When she asked him what his relationship status was, he said “it’s vague.” This would mean that Mayer isn’t hesitating to hit on other women while he’s away on tour and that he’s either no longer with Jennifer Aniston or is cheating on her. The woman Mayer supposedly talked to says it’s not true, though, and that she did meet him but it was like a year ago. In Touch mentioned her by name, and she says she’s really upset they did that and that the distorted the story so much. Chaton Anderson has a friend at In Touch and says that’s how this story got started, but that the result was a near complete fabrication:
The magazine claims in a story titled “Jen’s Betrayed Again” that Mayer, 30, got “very flirty” with Chaton Anderson, 32, in Amsterdam on June 20. The magazine reports that Mayer described his “relationship status” as “very vague” and that he maintained “very intense” eye-contact during a two-hour conversation.
“None of this is true,” Anderson told Us from her home in Manhattan Beach, CA on Wednesday.
“I met John Mayer almost a year ago,” she explained. “I don’t understand why they’ve said it was this year.
“Nothing happened anyway – nothing at all,” she added. “I just met him briefly and he said, ‘Hello, I’m John,’ and that was it! It was just groups of people in a coffee shop.”
A rep for Mayer also told Us: “The In Touch story is false.”
The origin of In Touch’s story?
Anderson says she told a friend who works at the tabloid that she met Mayer “a long time ago” – and the story was fabricated from there. She says she had no idea she would even be appearing in the magazine.

The thing is, if In Touch didn’t mention this other woman by name she probably wouldn’t even know the story was based on the brief time she met Mayer when he wasn’t even flirting with her. All we would have would be a denial by Mayer’s rep and I know I would be shaking my head and assuming he did this. It’s a much-needed lesson in how the tabloids make up fake stories. Think of how many other times this happens that we’re never privy to the origins of the fake story.

I’m sure alot of stuff we hear and take for ‘news’ is made up this way. I try not to take most of it too seriously though.
It’s very illuminating though I mean, it was pretty idiotic of them to name names because obviously she was going to say something, right?

intouch also got called out by claiming that mayer chatted up the woman on 20th of june at a coffee shop in amsterdam(holland) when it is know for a fact that he was in Copenhagen (denmark) on that day performing at a concert. they cant even get their days right to at least make it believable lol.
I think you could have paid this lady to take the story back. I think their PR people post on line to try to make him and Jen look good. Their money buys every thing.

The tabloids make up stories all that time. About ALL celebs. I’m sure most of them have a kernel of truth, but some really are just false
True. And, it doesn’t help that she hooked up with a well known player. 😮
I don’t understand why any one would be out to get Jennifer..she tries to stay under the radar most of the time, has never put Brad and Angie down, except for her remark about Brad having a sensitivity chip missing, which at the time was absolutely true…she has moved on with her life very well…bros: why exactly is she an easy target????
I think it’s because they all loooooooooooooooooooooooove Brangelina so much (which they are constantly in the limelight). Jennifer keeps a low profile, doesn’t draw attention to herself, etc.

Thanks for setting the record straight. Most blogs are still behind on this story – good for you being one of the first to get it out there. It is interesting how they make up stories in the tabloids. You have to wonder who the “sources” are that they quote all the time.
Based on the lame tattoos, I’m waiting for the fake “John Mayer Joins Yakuza” story.
Does anyone think Jen is a little old for John… not just the nine year age dfiference. But he seems like a playboy and she’s already been married.
Do you think that maybe the story is true, but once it came out, Mayer’s people offered the woman money to spare his reputation and to claim that it was a fabrication?
Maybe too much of a conspiracy-theorist-type outlook, but that’s what came to my mind. The more I hear about him, the more he seems like a pimp.

What is sad that if a woman is older society thinks that that this is not good. If a man is older even by 20-30 years no one has a problem. It should make no differnece if the man is older or the woman is older both sexes should be held to the same standards. And the whole John paid her off – no I don’t think so. She was very upset and rightly so. Actually John was not even in the city they mentioned at that time he was in a different city. The whole story is wrong. What I find very interesting is that for her whole life people have wanted to believe that Jen is being cheated on. Even with Brad I remember articles from Star years ago that he was in Vegas and he was cheating. Really weird how people want to believe that. Wonder why that is?

Sorry kandykane: John was not even in that city during that time. In Touch made up the story. I realize you hate Jen but trying to make people believe that John talked to a girl and ignored Jen well it just is really sad. Go and get yourself some friends and quit obsessing over Jennifer.

I think tabloids and papparazi are out of control these days. It is ridiculous really….the way the try to tear down celebrities.
I enjoy reading gossip blogs because I enjoy keeping up with my favorite celebrities — because I LIKE THEM. Not because I want to read about their downfall. I sure wouldn’t mind seeing less stories like this. Just pure speculation and mags (rags) obviously just trying to sell something – true or not.

Does John Mayer look like a 40 year old lesbian to anyone else? He is not cute. Also, what is up with his veins and contorted neck and placid skin? He looks like a big gnarled tree root. The tattoos are an apparent cry that he isn’t college dorm music any longer.
John and CHINNIFER are getting married this year!! She’s wants to marry before her 40th birthday in Feb.
