Hulk Hogan says jail is making Nick a better man

I never knew it was possible for Hulk Hogan to acknowledge that his precious little children were anything less than absolutely perfect as they are. Hogan says incarcerated son Nick is going to come out of jail a “better man” – which implies that Hulk is actually slightly aware that Nick had some character flaws that he could improve upon. What a concept. Hulk doesn’t seem to realize the extent to which his son needs a serious personality makeover, but at least he’s acknowledged something.

Hogan also tells PEOPLE that the time in jail has helped Bollea to become a better man.

“He was moving through life and maybe not real appreciative of things,” Hogan says. “When this happened, it totally spun him in a 180. … It’s the best thing that ever happened to him. I’m not saying it’s a good thing. But it happened for a reason.”

Because his son has been participating in an inmate work program, Hogan added, Bollea is now expected to be released from jail a few days early – possibly in late October.

“Nick is doing great, and I’m so excited, because Nick is going to be a great man now,” Hogan says. “I’m proud of him.”

[From People]

Hulk is choosing his words a little more carefully, so points for that at least. He managed to say this happened to Nick to make him a better man, and held his tongue about John Graziano. He should not be proud of him at all though, and it irks me to no end the way he talks about jail like it’s therapy or something.

Some people are just douche bags. You can see it on their faces, it’s this certain expression they have. Nick is a douche bag. Surviving jail is nothing to be proud of your kid for. You should be wracked with shame and embarrassment that your son nearly killed someone. You should be utterly humiliated that your offspring did something worthy of jail time. Both of the Hogan parents continue to stroke Nick’s ego and build up his douche bagging narcissism by talking about how proud they are of him, and it’s utterly disgusting.

  1. This guy defends his son like any parent will defend their own.

I am tired of the Hogans takin alot of blame for this adult who voluntarily got into the car and CHOSE NOT TO WEAR HIS SEAT BELT.

nick got his punishment and so did his friend

LESSON LEARNED: YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR A SEAT BELT

  3. I think Nick deserves more time in jail than he has gotten. IMO, being in a permanent vegetative state is the equivalent of being dead- it’s too bad Nick couldn’t have gotten tried for vehicular manslaughter. And even if John had worn his seatbelt, do you honestly think things would have worked out any better for him? Look at the pictures of the crash scene and tell me you think John would have come out of that okay.

  4. i hate that i clicked this link.

okay, please read this and understand what i am saying BEFORE yelling at me: this whole deal had made me think A LOT about the medics that decided to “save” john. if you watch the heart breaking video of john you will notice that john barely has a head behind his face, it’s concave. the idea that nick was not charged with vehicular manslaughter is a joke, not funny but still. nick KILLED that boy. i know that sounds harsh, but at some point why didn’t some doctor realize that, while they might keep his body alive, john is dead?

  5. RaeJillian, I know what you’re saying. Sometimes it would be kinder to not save them. I had no idea before seeing the video of what horrible condition John is in. I somehow pictured this serene person lying there like he was asleep. Most of his head is gone. I have no idea what would make any medical person think that this guy could be kept alive to live any sort of productive life.

Sign those living wills now, ladies and gents. Don’t let this happen to you.

  6. What - if you think a seatbelt would have saved John’s life, you’re a moron. The entire passenger side of the car (the same side that John’s head is now missing) was crushed to nothing.

I worked as a fire-fighter/EMT for 2 years cleaning up accidents like this, and the idea that a seatbelt is some kind of magic shield of protection is total bullshit. A seatbelt can reduce most forms of serious injury in a rear-end or head-on collision, but that’s about it. Seatbelts don’t really do shit when you’re talking about a side impact.

I suppose a drunk driver shouldn’t be charged if the people in the other car died because they weren’t wearing their seatbelts?

It’s all a moot point - because if Nick hadn’t been driving a car that was way too powerful for him way too fast, his friend would still have a whole head. Kid should have been charged with manslaughter.

  7. do they not watch TMZ? it’s like they dont have any clue that the whole word knows that they are full of shit! what else did we expect him to say? we all already know that they’re planning a show for nick when he gets out “the new nick” or something like that. then low and behold hulk makes an announcment about how jail is improving nick. i’m offended at his lack of respect for our intellegence.

  8. Jail will have to make him a better man because his parents sure as hell can’t do it.

  9. Give me a fricking break ‘brother.’ Every time I think about J Graziano’s condition and how this dim-witted family continue to make excuses for Nick, my blood boils.

Nick will not be a better man for this ’cause he thinks he’s a ‘victim’ for having had to go to jail and as Dana pointed out they’re hoping to spin his experience into some type of reality show.

Now there’s irony for ya. A kid who needs a reality check like no other, doing a reality show to prove that he’s become a real man.

And thank you Scott F. Those who think John wearing a seat-belt would have made a difference, (in this case) need a reality check of their own.

  10. This is the preview for the next headline,”Nick Hogan gets his own show”.The way Hogan talks about his son you’d think he was graduating from Harvard. What is he proud of? The real work comes when this person is released from PRISON. And if he does something positive in his life and help this world become a better place, then hulk can have a reason to be so “proud” of his son.@ Scott F. Thank you for educating us.

  12. Hopefully to make Nick an even better man, when John dies as a result of that accident, Nick can go to prison for manslaughter. Yeah. I think that should be a fair trade. Drive drunk, slowly kill a war veteran, and go back to prison for further improvement the Bollea way.

Asshole family should be wiped from the face of the Earth.

  13. Im sorry, war hero and all aside, the first lesson that we learned from our parents in driving was put on the belt. Yeah, it might muss your clothes and be uncomfortable but statistics show that the damn things work. War hero got into a car with a hopped up self absorbed IDIOT who suffers from a disease called, “Im a Hogan and all powerful”. Well, little boy is in jail and his passenger suffers from the mistake of riding, with this moron, unbelted. There is a whole lot of wrong on both sides. We can only pray for Graciano’s (passenger) possible recovery and pray that someone has NICK neutered, because I know this world could not handle another idiot from the Hogan gene pool.

  14. I think this article just continues to prove that the Hogan clan still thinks the world revolves around them.

“When this happened, it totally spun him in a 180. … It’s the best thing that ever happened to him. I’m not saying it’s a good thing. But it happened for a reason.”

So Nicks friend has to suffer just to teach Nick a lesson. Not to mention the fact all the trash talking they’ve done of Graziano. Funny how he was good enough to have been his friend prior to the accident but now he was a terrible person that brought this on himself.

And to all you people that continue to blame Graziano for not wearing a seatbelt…how is the seatbelt going to protect a person that now has a tree in the spot they were sitting in only a few minutes ago? The only thing that could have possibly helped him was a side airbag. That and not riding with an idiot like Nick.

  15. I don’t know what to make of the Hogans. They don’t seem to come across as totally bad people, just spoiled and very unintelligent.

The Bollea klan makes me sick.

  17. @ ScottF : Based on your experience as a paramedic - do the side curtain airbags help that much to prevent injury? They seem like such a flimsy shield, at least compared to the bigger driver and front passenger airbags.

  18. scott f -
(i’m a different what from the first what.)
my question is this: i recently met someone who refuses to wear seatbelts because he says that when he was rear-ended, wearing a seatbelt actually screwed up his back, and that seatbelts are very unsafe in such cases.
    is this true?

  20. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys - I tend not to check posts more than a day or two old. Since you were cool enough to ask though, I’ll try to answer.

Side airbags - dunno much about them. Only saw like 2 accidents ever with cars that had them, and both times the bags deployed even though it was a head-on collision and not a side-swipe. I’ve heard they can break bones and dislocate shoulders if they deploy during a rear-end or head-on collision.

Seatbelts - Hell YES they can hurt you in small accidents. That’s one thing I’ve always wanted car companies to just come out and admit. My brother was read-ended sitting still at a red light and his seatbelt caused his body to bend at a bad angle and he couldn’t move his neck for 6 months. The other guy had no insurance, my bro had to sue HIS insurance company because they tried to say he was faking it for disability.

  21. First off, I don’t think Nick Hogan isn’t to blame but John Graziano fails for…

    1. Being a friend of Nick Hogan’s.
    2. Getting into a car with Nick Hogan after hanging out with him and drinking beers with him throughout the day.

John Graziano passes the stupidity test with flying colors! Hurray for John Graziano! The only person to pass it with a higher score is Nick Hogan. And anyone who marries Tom Cruise.

P.S. I highly doubt John was going “omg slow down Nick!” when Nick and the other car were racing.
