Gwyneth Paltrow recorded new version of F-you with Cee-Lo, hosting SNL Jan 15

Gwyneth Paltrow bugs me, and I’d prefer to hear from her once a week when she goops for the benefit of the less pampered masses and to move on. She’s all over the place promoting Country Strong, though, and that means multiple interviews and quoteables. You have to hand it to her, she can sing and she’s working hard for some semblance of a “comeback.” She did a great job on “Glee” and really brought it for the Country Music Awards.

One thing she can’t do is get her story straight, however. As many of you pointed out in Kaiser’s last story on the Goop, she told Good Housekeeping that her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, taught her to play guitar in preparation for Country Strong. She told the Daily Mail in November that he couldn’t be bothered, though.

On Good Morning America this week, Goop said of her husband that “He was of course supportive and amazing, but I really relied more [for role preparation] on my girlfriend singers like Faith [Hill] and Beyonce.” In an interview with Yahoo, Gwyneth elaborated on how Beyonce and Faith helped her play an alcoholic country singer:

I drew inspiration from so many people in country music and also pop music as well. Faith Hill was also my height and so I studied her physicality and then I also studied a lot of Beyonce’s concert footage and… I went to her concert twice, just because she has that incredible superstar performance on stage and so I thought if I can just get a thimble full of what she has then maybe I can pull this role off.

In her GMA interview, Robin Roberts asked Goop whether she would do a collaboration with Cee-Lo for their joint Saturday Night Live appearance on January 15. (Gwyneth performed a censored version of Cee-Lo’s “F-ck You” on “Glee”.) She said “We’re e-mailing each other. We don’t know where that’s going to go, but I’m such a big fan of Cee-Lo, he is so gorgeous and talented and amazing.

Cee-Lo has confirmed that he recorded a new version of the song with Gwyneth over the weekend. He didn’t provide much detail, and just said “She sings like a natural.” That she does. Yahoo! has some new videos of Gwynnie performing live studio versions of two songs from Country Strong, and she sounds great. The question is – will she perform live with Cee-Lo on January 15? Probably, and that means that we’ll see more of Goop and her new squinty face in the weeks to come. Country Strong is out this Friday, January 7.

I have to give her credit she was really funny on Jimmy Fallon. But she needs to stop promoting this movie she has been on every talk show for the last 3 months (except thank God Oprah) and Country Strong still isn’t getting an Oscar or a Golden Globe and isn’t even in the conversation it looks like a LIFETIME movie.

  2. brin says:

Yeah, this movie has had the longest promotion ever and it doesn’t even look good.

  3. higgity says:

Her thing on Jimmy Fallon was so painfully unfunny.

  4. ThirdChris says:

Country Strong isn’t even out yet?! Wow, I thought it had been out for months. (I don’t get out much, lol) Meh, I’ll wait for dvd.

  5. annaloo says:

Gawd, she is like the herpes virus…annoying and constantly recurring…

can’t wait til this Country Strong promo is OVER and she goes back to making cold organic twig and sand stews for her sphincter issues.

  6. gabs says:

Gotta give her props, this bitch knows how to promote. lol. Also, she does have a good singing voice. Itll be interesting to hear the song as a duet. Will he be telling her “F you” and then shell sing at him “F you!” This could actually be a really good song to duet with. I know that she is bffs with Beyonce, but I just don’t understand it.

  7. Rachel says:

Love GOOPy and I can’t wait to see Country Strong this week-end.

  8. Cat Burrito says:

It annoys me to no end that she always makes a point of letting everyone one what a “special” connection she has to popular celebrities. It seems as soon as their spot light fades so does her association with them. She must be the best fake friend the world has ever know.

  9. Maryann says:

She drop a new name every day let’s see she has drop the names of Faith Hill, Beyonce, Jay Z, Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt and Robert Downey Jr and Country Strong promo is not over yet when will name dropping stop. Is it me or do most celebrities go out and do real research for their role and not just ask sit around asking friends? And am I the only one that is not impressed by this movie nothing I’ve seen in the trailer makes me want to go see this movie I’ll wait till it come on TV see it.

  10. Sandy says:

Is it just me or is Country Strong one of the worst titles ever? I cringe every time I hear it.

  11. Scarlet Vixen says:

I think interviewers ask questions specifically about her connections. Because of her parents (her dad was a famous director, her mom is actress Blythe Danner, and her brother is also a director) she’s been around the industry and famous people her entire life. She’s also dated high-profile people (Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt) and is married to a famous musician, so I think interviewers think people want and expect to hear about her famous friends.

  12. Anti-icon says:

Nope, still don’t like her…..and she used to think movie promotion was rather whorish, did she not? (Wasn’t she all against it, plus she openly badmouthed “TV people”…..now she’s the biggest promotional whore in the land.

  13. Maryann says:

There are other celebrities that have famous parents and dated other famous people Kate Hudson for one but they don’t go around dropping names. She could use the word “friends” and not give their name away but it seems like she what the world to know who her celebrity friends are.

  14. randomness says:

    Movie came out
    It Bombed

  15. Jeri says:

I think Country Strong will be on DVD or Lifetime soon and I’ll see it then.

  16. Matt says:

I can’t beleive the movie isn’t even out yet- it feels like she has been promoting it for months.

Oh and now I’m sure Gwyneth and C-Lo are great friends and he goes over to her house for dinner ALL THE TIME. God, she is insufferable.

  17. tuscan sun says:

    “thimble full”?

LOL, my Nana used to say that.

  18. Becky says:

She is unbelievably annoying, but she can sing and I think she’s a decent actress (solid but not great). Truthfully, part of the reason that she annoys me so much is that she’s one of those people that seems to have had things come to her very easily. Talk about someone who has led a very, very privileged life. While she’s talented and pretty, there are obviously many others out there who are just as talented and just as attractive who did not have the good fortune to be born into such a connected family.
