33 year-old actress Drew Barrymore has an interview with British Magazine Look in which she talks about her long friendship with Cameron Diaz, 35. Drew says that Cameron is a great friend and very supportive, but also says that Cameron is more naive and less wise than she is. She stops short of calling her a ditz, though:
“What’s helped me is having really good friends I know I can rely on,” she told the British Magazine Look. “Cameron Diaz is one of the greatest friend anyone can ever have. She has so much love to give. We also support each other through the bad times. I’ve always felt like she’s my big sister, but at the same time I know that sometimes I’m wiser and a bit less naive than she is. We just spend so much time having fun and laughing together. That’s what true friendship is about.

Star also has some more quotes from Drew about her difficult childhood growing up with a mother who let her do whatever she wanted and a father who was losing his faculties. From the way they work them into the article they seem like they’re from an old interview, and I was able to find the original full quote but it’s unsourced:
I’ve never really understood how I should feel or behave in a relationship… I didn’t have the kind of childhood or family life that would have given me any perspective on what a happy home life or relationship would feel like. My father was literally out of his mind and my mother was more like a friend than a real mom to me. She would take me out to clubs and I wound up feeling like part of this very unreal kind of world, although that was the only world I ever knew growing up”

Let me know if you can figure out when she said that. It’s possible it’s part of the Look interview, but I would guess it’s from an older story.
That’s nice that Drew acknowledges that Diaz is a good friend to her, even if she seems to call her goofy and not as worldly as she is. Drew might be wiser than Diaz in some things, but she can be pretty naive when it comes to guys. She seems like she jumps into relationships head first and has trouble working through problems once reality sets in. Drew has been married twice, with her longest marriage lasting all of three months. She’s been in long term relationships since though, so at least she’s not marrying each of her boyfriends. Maybe Cameron can give Drew some advice on how to play the field without going too fast.

Oh, I could’ve taken this more seriously if you hadn’t quoted Star.

I actually think their friendship is real - but still, a friendship based mainly on smoking the ganja.

That’s cute that they are such close friends, but I agree with you CB, I think Drew is pretty naive when it comes to relationships, she’s had so many failed ones that she can’t exactly describe herself as ‘wise’.

I wanna be friends with them. They seem sweet and silly. And think of all the free weed…

Sounds like Lohan’s life in a way, or how it started out for her. Dina is more of a friend, but a horrible friend though. Then you wonder why Drew took the direction she did, without the parental guidance she was basically trying to figure out that lifestyle when she was really really young.

They must get the pineapple, bet they’re going to get lit and watch the Pineapple Express tomorrow!

I want to spend a long weekend in Amsterdam with those girls and find out if I am a lesbian after all.
