Britney’s hairdresser says he’s preparing ‘performance’ hair for VMAs

Britney’s performance at the VMAs last year was so bad that South Park parodied it by showing her headless and talking out of her neck while people in the audience called her fat, as if she was so impaired that everyone was missing the point. The 26 year-old pop singer may be stable now and she could possibly put on a solid show. She’s only recently found a tentative balance in her life though and probably shouldn’t complicate things by exposing herself with another high profile live performance.

It could be happening again despite the possible ramifications for Britney and MTV executives who should know better by now. Her hairdresser told E! News that he’s preparing three hairstyles for her for the awards, to air Sunday, September 7, and that one of them is “performance” hair:

Chatty hairdresser… Kim Vo… told E! News exclusively that he just may be creating three VMA looks for the “E-mail My Heart” singer.

What could Britney possibly need three different hairstyles for?

The first look would obviously be for the red carpet. Vo says he and Brit are still “feeling out” ideas about how that will look.

The second style would be for the show itself, probably something “more chic, like a side ponytail.”

And look No. 3 would be for her PERFORMANCE! That’s right, we said performance. For such an event, Vo and Brit want something “more quintessential Britney.” “Performance” and “quintessential Britney” said together could only mean our girl is definitely coming back to us.

Maybe Britney will just be presenting and needs the styles when she comes on stage at different points to read some carefully scripted and pre-rehearsed lines. Who am I kidding - MTV knows that another Britney performance would boost viewership considerably. It doesn’t matter if she falls flat on her face or if she’s talking out of her neck - people want to gawk at her.

Britney is not listed among the performers for the awards on MTV’s website. Confirmed for the show are The Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock, Lil Wayne, Paramore, Pink and Rihanna. Maybe she’ll do a performance with someone else. There are rumors that she’s set to record a duet for her upcoming album with ex boyfriend Justin Timberlake, but that story has been around for a while and isn’t necessarily true.

  2. I LOVE Kim Vo!!!!! He’s on so many hair shows. I actually think Brit might do OK if she performs.

  3. Is this the same guy who did her hair for her disastrous show last time? Hope not.

And side ponytails are cheesy, not sexy, Mr. Vo. Let’s not revisit that dreadful trend.

  5. Her hair has to be a presentable length by now. Why doesn’t she just get a cute pixie cut and be done with it? That huge weave has to itch like hell!

  6. I so agree! I want to see her do a short hair cut. It has to be chin length by now.

  8. Are you all retarded? She shaved her head in February 2007. She’s got plenty of hair.

  9. I really want her to come back on top, but people are too fickle.

MTV’s in on watching her fall flat on her face, like last year, because the VMAs always need to produce a freakshow in order to attain high ratings, and it’s really sadistic and disgusting.

  10. How wonderful it would be (now she’s on meds) to see her give a killer performance at the VMA’s. Everyone loves a great comeback - and she’s been to hell, don’t doubt it

  11. Neato! Now there are two Shanes.

The one above is an imposter. I am the real Shane, and although I am sometimes annoying, I never call the other posters here names, such as retarded.

    Carry on!

  12. She certainly looks like she’s been working out– it would be nice to see her make a successful comeback and still manage to keep her head on straight.

  13. For the 1 millionth time… I think she should lose the extensions and go with her short, natural hair!! You know how good that would look!!??

  14. Shane (the original): Thanks for clarifying. I thought such a blatantly idiotic comment seemed out of character.

  15. I hope she kills her performance. She really seems like she is trying to get her life together. Bipolar disorder is a serious, unpredictable disease. I am glad she is finally recovering from her last episode. Until you have a close relative or friend that suffers from the disorder sometimes it is hard to understand that one day they can be so normal and the very next you are completely bewildered at their behavior and feel helpless. It is painful to watch someone you love suffer in such a way.
