Tina Fey gets her wish: Oprah to appear on ‘30 Rock’

“30 Rock” creator Tina Fey has said that one of her dreams for the show is to have Oprah Winfrey appear as the best friend of Fey’s character, Liz Lemon. “30 Rock” co-star Alec Baldwin, who is currently embroiled in a verbal slap fight with the creator of another NBC sitcom, confirmed to Extra TV that both Oprah and Jennifer Aniston will be guest stars on the show this season.

It’s official: Oprah’s guest starring on 30 Rock.

Alec Baldwin confirmed the news to Extra on Monday.

“Yes, Jennifer Aniston and Oprah. What more do you want?” he exclaimed. “We’re only on episode four!”

Although he didn’t elaborate on the daytime diva’s role on the NBC comedy, he revealed more about Aniston’s role on the show.

She plays Tina Fey’s pal and “has a reputation of a man-eater,” Baldwin said.

“She loves to seduce alpha men,” he said, explaining how Aniston’s character falls for his character, network executive Jack Donaghy. “Tina warns me about her, and I say, ‘Don’t worry, I recognize those kinds of women….’ Count to three, and she and I are coming out of my bathroom with our clothes off.”

He said the cast was “very lucky” to work with the Friends alum.

“She’s so alive, she’s funny and beautiful,” he added. “She’s got the comedy crazy gene. She was a perfect fit for the show.”

Yeah, yeah- we’ve already seen the photos of Aniston on the show, we know all about it. I want to know what Oprah’s gonna do! Why all the secrecy? Will she be Liz’s BFF? A love interest for Alec’s character? Or will she play herself? This isn’t the first time Winfrey has appeared on a sitcom. She played Ellen Degeneres’ therapist in the episode of “Ellen” where her character came out as a lesbian.

  1. MSat, if Oprah was playing a love interest for Jack, that would be hilarious.

Wasn’t there a re-occurring gag where he talked about when he dated Beyonce?

  2. Yeah because Oprah needs more exposure, poor little billionaire. :(

  3. Jack loves to date power women. Off the top of my head, he’s dated Condoleezza Rice, Maureen Dowd, Beyonce, Martha Stewart (and her daughter!), and Katie Couric. He’s ALSO dated a member of The Black Crusaders, who I’m hoping is Oprah. That would be fantastically awesome.

And even though O seems kind of like a huge diva (and really, who wouldn’t be with all that cash!), she must have at least a little sense of humor about her public persona since 30 Rock has taken some jabs at her (and her fans) before. My favorite is when Liz is asked about her religion and she shrugs and says, “I pretty much do whatever Oprah tells me to.”
