  2. Why can’t they assign that title to Paris Hilton or someone equally as vapid and worthless?

  7. I don’t think they’re trying to make friends on the global stage, cb. I think they’re trying to show that if you support Israel in any way, you are an enemy of all Muslims. It’s an intimidation tactic.

Something I think is pretty pathetic, none the less.

  10. I don’t care what the future brings
    Give a damn about anything
I’d be fine if they’d only leave me alone
But it’s time, gotta take a stance
    ‘Cause I won’t get a second chance
And I know now I have to make it alone

  13. Muslims operate the same way playground bullies do. Intimidation. And sadly, it often works.

Wish the world would follow Holland’s lead - they have passed laws to forbid any more Mosques be built in their country.

And no burqas (female face covering) are allowed in public. Why? Well, besides the obvious identity issues, there’s this phenomenon in the Muslim world where, it’s kinda trendy to see who can be the most ’strict’ Muslim, and therefore the ‘better’ Muslim.

So say, one Muslim sees his neighbor’s wife wearing a burqa. So he tells his wife she better start wearing one too, or she’s a whore and it looks bad on him. It’s a domino effect (happens in all societies actually in many scenarios, take the rise and fall of circumcision and/or vaccinations in this country for instance).

  15. Shane~ The saddest thing is that people actually believe that shit.

There are ambivalent, liberal, moderate, and extreme Christians. Much like there are ambivalent, liberal, moderate, and extreme Muslims.

    Oh & FYI, a burqa is a head-to-toe garment.

    I don’t know why I waste my time…

    You ignorant little person.

  17. @ Shane

You sound almost as insane as the people threatening Paul.

    but on another note….

I’m hoping the talking heads will learn protests and boycotts go farther than death threats.

  18. If they issued threats against Heather Mills they might actually win some new converts! Honestly guys leave Macca alone and go after Mucca. From a PR perspective it’s a better tactic. Your recruitment numbers would soar!

  19. I’ve noticed it going around on the web, and now here, where Arabs are referred to as a stone-age culture which they are not. They invented the numeric system we use today including the concept of zero, the optical and telescopic lens and were some of the first astronomers. They have a written language and literature and beautiful architecture. They also invented the guitar.

To be considered a stone-age culture it must be one that relied exclusively on stone tools, not metals like bronze and iron.

Anyhoo, Paul’s been waking up on the controversial side of the bed these days: first playing in Quebec’s anniversary celebrations, now Israel…I wonder where he’s off to next on his sh@tstorm tour

  20. Bodhi, you’re not wasting your time, honey. Never a waste of time when you post with intelligence and good, moderate sense. Sickens me how easily people fall for the ‘one mad muslim, all mad muslims’ bigotry. You keep telling it like it is. 8)

  21. Ah, yes. The religion of peace. As long as you think, act and believe precisely as you are told and relenquish all personal freedoms.

For a very interesting look at that world, I recommend reading “A Thousand Splendid Suns.” It’s an excellent book, written by an Afghani man.

  23. I had an opportunity to see a Qur’an from the 11th century at the museum. It was entirely manuscript illumination (similar to the Book of Kells I’d say)but with real gold in the illustration, lettering and binding etc. It was a huge book and on a pedestal and the whole thing encased in a security glass cube. It was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen.

  27. I think the key word in MSats write up are radical Muslims. Big difference. The loss of life from senseless bombings that many countries including the US have sustained prove that. Try this Shane, it might help you to understand the difference.

  28. The only type of Islam people ever hear about in the west is the radical type with death threats, bombings, recruiting, etc. It’s no wonder people have a bad image of it.

  31. Radical muslims were those I was referring to when I called them ’stone-age idiots’. Any time one group tries to impose its beliefs on everyone else… Fundies of any stripe drive me crazy. Believe the moon is made of green cheese if you want, but don’t insist that I do. Making threats to a musician for performing is ’stone age’ behaviour in my opinion.

Thanks for the link, Daisy; I’ll definitely watch that. An excellent book to read about this is ‘Loss of Faith’ by Sam Harris.

Sacrifice operatives??? What else needs to be said. All religion should be abolished, every last one. In the name of God, of course.

  35. “The same can be said for ALL religions.”

    Actually, that is not true.

  36. I made an error.

You guys are correct - I left out the word “Radical” in front of the word “Muslims” in my comment above.

So I should have stated “Radical Muslims are like playground bullies, etc etc”.

In our world today, it is the Radical Muslims who are exerting pressure on their Muslim peers to conform to their conservative interpretation of the Muslim religion.

And guess what folks, the Radical bullies are the ones who usually get what they want in the end, because others defend them as less harmful than they really are and attack people who speak out against them.

Don’t take my word for it. Just sit back, keep defending them, and watch what happens in your country in the next 20 years. Enjoy your freedom while you can folks. It’s already diminishing significantly in Great Britain and the state of Michigan (near Detroit primarily) thanks to the large “innocent, middle of the road” Muslim populations in those areas.

In Britain, girls can no longer wear sleaveless shirts for passport photos.

In Michigan near Detroit, the call to worship towers were upheld over local noise ordinances.

This is the tip of the iceberg. And keep defending it all you want, in a few decades, you will no longer be able to type comments on these type websites, as in Saudia Arabia, the internet is extremely confined and monitored, and gossip websites such as this are entirely out of the question.

But don’t take my word for it. Instead, call me names and suggest I’m ignorant and narrow minded.

Quite the opposite - in fact, you may be the one too narrow minded to consider that possibility.

  37. shane, i kind of see what you’re saying, but i think you’re stretching it.
the muslim population in europe has exploded, and some of them are radical, so it could lead to more craziness…but just the kind of craziness that all radical religion brings. you don’t think the radical christains are any less crazy?

“Ah, yes. The religion of peace. As long as you think, act and believe precisely as you are told and relenquish all personal freedoms.”

when has any religion preached questioning its own tenets? that would seem kind of counterproductive if you want the religion to survive…

  38. I agree with Shane, from what I’ve read, this is a problem that keeps growing and won’t go away for generations to come. We need to protect what freedoms we have left since there aren’t many freedoms in countries such as Saudia Arabia. Having a copy of the bible there is the death penalty, by the way. Not very tolerant of other religions there.
