Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) wins the Best Director Oscar

tomhooper

YAY!!! Tom Hooper, a lovely Englishman wins Best Director. And he‘s a mama‘s boy! Or a mummy‘s boy, as they say. I‘m so, so happy that the director of The King‘s Speech won! I feel like it will definitely take Best Picture now. Anyway, back to Hooper – his speech was lovely, and I like that Kathryn Bigelow gave the award to Hooper. Hooper gave thanks to “The Triangle of Man Love” – himself, Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth, with a special mention fro Helena Bonham Carter, who made a funny face when the camera cut to her.

I’m so happy! Go TKS, go!!!

Good for TKS! He did a really remarkable job!

(and TSN fanboys are crying already. Sorry, that was a mediocre film all around. If it couldn’t be my man Chris Nolan, it had to be Hooper.)

Did they forget to include Rue McClanahan in actors who died in 2010? Or maybe I looked away for a second. I hope they didn’t forget her, she was an amazing talent.

  3. Glyrics says:

Fincher was ROBBED! He’s done a lot of great movies: se7en, FIGHT CLUB, ZODIAC et al.

What has this guy done but another Brit white wash of their monarchy.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOO

  4. Liana says:

Tom Hooper is a lovely man and this was very much deserved.

    @Glyrics:

While I agree that Fincher is a phenomenal director, TSN was the weaker of his movies that you mentioned. He deserved to win for any of the other 3, not TSN.

p.s. my night is complete…Colin Firth won, YAY!!!

  6. poof says:

And Colin Firth won for best actor. Looove him. Nice Man.

  7. EbonyShiksa says:

His speech was so sweet. So glad he won.

  8. garvels says:

I am so happy he won. This was a fantastic movie that will stand the test of time!

  9. moviegoer says:

Fincher’s been robbed. His rhythmic directing is genius and masterful. Picking Hooper over him… A joke. You will soon find movie pundits calling this one of the worst decisions the old Academy farts have ever made. And the Academy’s love for emotionally manipulative royal porn continues..

  10. lisa says:

I love David Fincher and he has been robbed again.

His last 3 films were amazing. He brought new technology to the front (Benjamin Button) that is now being used in other films and TV.If you watch the next Harry Potter pt 2. give David salute to that one.

Screw the Academy. David you won.. that is what I am going with.

  11. Ell says:

Classy speech from a classy guy but then he is a Brit. He deserved to win because it was the best film.

@Glyrics – keep up, people don’t get an oscar for their body of work (unless it’s a lifetime award of course).

    Go Brits!!!!

  12. Solveig says:

I think that I’m more happy that Fincher lost than the King’s speech and its director won.
    I know, I’m a bitter jellis h8r, LOL
I can’t stand that overrated guy (Fincher) and his soulless movies.
