Brad Pitt lights up on the NOLA set of ‘Cogan’s Trade’

fp_6954475_pitt_brad_fp5_17_25

These are some newish photos of Brad Pitt, still on the New Orleans set of Cogan’s Trade. He’s still got the slicked-back hair, still doing the “mobster couture” thing. But for some reason, I’m not getting as hot for these photos. Was I just attracted to Brad because of his sunglasses? Were the sunglasses the key to it?

fp_6946287_pitt_brad_fp7_prt3_14_17

Before I get to the smoking… I’d like to have a word about men and facial hair. I’ve dated guys who do this scraggly goatee thing before, and I don’t really hate it. I know some women and completely “anti” any facial hair, especially when it’s a guy who would look so much better without it. But my general thought is that if you’re going to do facial hair, it should be a full goatee or a full (trimmed, but not excessively so) beard. The key is finding a balance between fussy facial hair and gross facial hair. How does Brad do on that count? Not bad, but not great.

Now, as for the smoking. It’s my understanding that the character Brad is playing smokes. You can even see Brad, about to get into the character’s car, with an unlit cigarette. BUT – Brad is still a smoker. He has gone back and forth over the years, and I do think he is able to quit for months at a time, but he always comes back to his addiction. I think his rule must be that he doesn’t smoke in front of his kids, and that he has to go and “sneak off” to have a cig. Just my theory.

My dad smoked when I was a kid, but had to go outside by the demands of my mom. We knew he smoked and he was very considerate about it.

  2. Brittney says:

Those look like Menthols. Brad does *not* strike me as a Menthol guy. (Other “green” cigarettes, however…)

  3. spinner says:

    He looks goofy!!!!

  4. Too bad about the smoking. I’m glad I never started. I would probably never quit since I can not deny myself any indulgence. (Lol)

  5. Jenna says:

My dad quit for about a year after he had heart surgery. But now he sneaks off to the garage or something every so often to do it. UGH, damn nicotine.

  6. flotus says:

It fits the way he looks….NASTY!

  7. Eve says:

Regarding facial hair…it depends on who’s wearing it. For instance: I don’t like moustaches, but Mark Ruffalo channeling Fred Mercudy in In The Cut was ridiculously sexy. I find the goatee kinda silly but it does wonders for Edward Norton’s face (he’s got a bit of a recessed chin so the goatee gives it some definition). And I absolutely adore Tahar Rahim’s facial hair in A Prophet (from the second half of the movie and on) — even though there are moments where he’s sporting a pornstache.

What I definitely hate to no end is that manicured facial hair — very popular among Italian football players. I hate that. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

    P.S.: Where’s our HGF fix?

  8. Praise St. Angie! says:

    he looks remarkably unwrinkled.

but still not hot. but still in character so he gets a pass.

(won’t judge the smoking as I was a smoker for years. to each his own – as long as he doesn’t smoke around the kids, which I’d bet he doesn’t, they’re his lungs so he can pollute them if he wants.)

  9. RHONYC says:

    *all the celebitches chanting*

    FRI-DAY DONGS!

    FRI-DAY DONGS!

    FRI-DAY DONGS!

    😉

  10. LadyBert62 says:

He looks greasy and smelly – disgusting overall.

  11. Rita says:

My husband had a goatee for a short time. One day he smashed his face onto a copying machine and attached the results on my refridge with a magnet. I had to take it down before the kids came over…..it was all lips and hair if you know what I mean.

  12. Runs with Scissors says:

@Rita, yep, lol! The whole ‘landing strip’ goatee is like what you’re sayin’ but no copy machine required…

what is the point of that? Do they even see the connection? Why make your face look like a porn star’s hooch?

  13. Jill says:

He’s filming a scene. I think thats why he’s smoking.

  14. Bodhi says:

The box in his hand is a Parliament Light box; I know because I smoked ’em for YEARS.

I think he looks fabulous, but as I mentioned before, my husband & all of his friends are rockabilly guys so I have a thing for a good pompadour!

  15. nnn says:

I can’t stand the smoke. I am allergic to it and has made two severe reactions in my life because of it, one of which left me unable to talk for two months and nearly endangering for good my vocal cords to leave me forever mute all this because of excessive cough.

All this because i was exposed 3 hours in an office to negotiate a project with two people who couldn’t care less to stop smoking when i asked them too, thinking i was exaggerating the effect on my health.

I had fever, ganglions, difficulties to breath the morning after and for weeks. I was put on cortisone after all the medication i used during the first month and a half didn’t have any effect on me. After exams, they concluded I was allergic to high level of nicotin because of a pre ashmatic stage.

I have dumped an ex after he keep on saying he would stop when he never did because i wasn’t able to stay in the same place full of nicotine more than one day and always was on antibiotics because of a sudden rise of ganglions, fever, tears and coughing. I could only see him twice in a month, because i got siock everytime and needed two weekes to recover.

I think both Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt should stop it as they have children.

I remembered Paul Newman who used to smoke and even if he died at an honorable age, it was still due to lung cancer because of smoking.

  16. Kim123 says:

I hate smoking but at least I ‘ve never seen him smoke around his kids like J Depp and Sean Penn. Yes I have seen pics of Penn and Depp smoking while walking with their kids. Also I hate facial hair.

  17. Cheyenne says:

Quitting isn’t easy. I know; I’ve been there. I quit cold turkey from two packs a day when I was 30.

Cigarette smoke is lethal both for smokers and people who have to breathe the air around them.

And there are few things worse than getting into a crowded elevator and having to stand next to somebody with tobacco breath.

  18. fi says:

He looks great. It looks like he gained some weight so his face isn’t looking so rugged. I guess it could be fillers, but somehow I doubt that.

  19. Kim123 says:

Personally I think the motorcycle riding is more dangerous than the cigarettes.I’m biased because a cousin was killed in a motorcycle accident, I guess.

  20. Lisa Turtle says:

I hate to say this, but when I see him with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth all I can see is Cancer Cancer Cancer. I don’t understand how you could be a parent and not feel immense guilt about the toll you are taking on your health by smoking cigarettes.

Plus, longevity doesn’t run in Angelina’s family either. This Hollywood story could end tragically.

  21. Lisa Turtle says:

    @ Kim 123

In hospitals, Doctors refer to them as “donor-cycles” as they are the most likely to come in with severe brain damage due to a crash.

    Pitt: I have no idea!

  23. junk573r says:

    @ Rita LMFAO. Funniest ever.

  24. Sakyiwaa says:

i think he looks better in shades, Kaiser, cos he’s showing his age and wrinkling around his eyes. it was even noticeable during his Troy days…to me, of course. still, i think he’s hot & no judging… cos some women are into Steve Buscemi and Jeff Goldblum.:)
i like his goatee. I actually think he likes being hairy. he’s entitled to his facial hair. honestly, this is nothing like the humuguous homeless man beard he grew circa 2004. he was still wiv Jen too. people think he was always dressed to the nines when he was wiv her but he had his hobo moments. he was merely younger ergo still had mucho sex appeal.
as a non-smoker though, i wish he would quit his smoking altogether. hope it’s just for the role.

  25. Sakyiwaa says:

@olivia; “last picture: Caption Contest for March 11

    Photog: Brad, where’s Angie?
    Pitt: I have no idea!”

i know you were snarking but…Lol! i can’t help it… it may not be true but it’s so believable. Lol!

aww, i think some of his purtyness (someone said ‘goofy’ness) is definitely showing here. esp. in the first pic. no wonder sumone’s turned off ;). they’re into slick, badass guys, hehe.

  26. sandy says:

give me brad any way, shape and form, really, to me, he can not go wrong, i even like him better now than before, he is so much more manlier, hehehe. love you brad. i got it bad.

  27. someone says:

I don’t care if he smokes 5 packs a day..thats Angies problem, Im sure he doesn’t smoke around his kids, at least I hope he doesn’t!!!

  28. Faye says:

I love the last picture, it is candid hilariosity. I’m really bad at funny captions so I won’t even try.

  29. Louise says:

Considering he’s filming a movie the slicked back hair isn’t going away anytime soon. I don’t understand why Brad smoking is news. He’s been doing so off and on for years. Besides I don’t think the cigarette is even lit. It’s bizarre that people make such a huge deal of everything Brad and Angelina do but don’t care that most other people do the same thing.

  30. Solveig says:

I happened to smoke a lot about 4 years ago, due to job problems, it was a time of a very high pressure on me.
After that time passed I simply quit smoking, now I don’t feel like a need a cigarette even if I’m nervous.
Sometimes I lit a cig just when I’m out with my friends, or when I eat too much, but it’s not really smoking, it’s just holding a cigarette on my hand.
I am strangely capable of not developping addictions.
Anyway, I don’t like him but he looks like a decent father, therefore I highly doubt he smokes in front of his kids.
And, no, sorry, I don’t see the hot. He has (had?) a great body, but the face and the eyes are too blank to be hot.

  31. Moreaces says:

    God he’s sexy

  32. Mrs Odie 2 says:

I’m sure Brad doesn’t smoke around his kids. He loves them. But I’m sure his older kids know he smokes and that means they are more likely to. My dad smoked all my life. I, too, became a smoker, as did my sister. We both quit for our pregnancies and didn’t go back. I loved smoking. I still miss it. But I saw my dad go through laryngeal cancer and nearly die, and I almost lost him to smoking. As a parent, I can’t do that to my kids. And the fact that neither my husband nor I smoke means our daughters are much less likely to start. So, Brad should really quit for good if he hasn’t. The cigs in the picture could be movie prop fake cigs.

  33. Crash2GO2 says:

He has that strangely simian jaw. His only flaw really, but it has come to bug me more and more. Oh well.

  34. lisa says:

I don’t like the smoking but it is not illegal. My father smoked when I was a child.. and I never have. So one does not equal the other.

I see him smoking in character. I have not seen him during this shoot smoking. but well as I said.. I don’t like the habit myself but it is not the end of the world. I don’t see the other KNOWN celebrities that smoke getting the same judgement as Brad. Why? well anyone following him or Angie knows that there is always a Double Standard.. as one poster pointed out.

Regarding his looks… He is still a very attractive man in my opinion.. I look at some of the men featured on that Hot Guy Friday..which Brad Pitt is never included in (the reason I skip it now).. And if some of those men are considered HOT.. WELL I will say then that Brad Pitt has not lost a beat in his over 20 years in this business.

Looking forward to the films he has coming this year and this one next year..

  35. Lucy says:

He can smoke or not smoke, have facial hair or clean shaven, wrinkles or not, Brad baby, I am yours forever….BEST DONG GOD EVER PUT ON THIS EARTH!

  36. Meanchick says:

Both of my grandfathers smoked and they both died from smoking-related illnesses. Nasty habit.

  37. Crash2GO2 says:

“what is the point of that? Do they even see the connection? Why make your face look like a porn star’s hooch?”

Maybe that is the attraction. To the men that wear these that is. LOL

  38. Eve says:

    @ Crash2GO2:

He has that strangely simian jaw.

I have always thought he looked like a monkey (a Golden Lion Tamarin, to be more precise) — not because of his jaw but because of the distance between the tip of his nose (and its flared nostrils) and his mouth.

  39. Lady D says:

“And there are few things worse than getting into a crowded elevator and having to stand next to somebody with tobacco breath.”
Unless its getting in an elevator with someone wearing too much cologne or perfume. The smells hurt my stomach so bad, I’m throwing up by the time I get out of the elevator. Literally. I develop a migraine so bad it causes blindness in my left eye. I remember vomiting from the elevator all the way to the pediatric urologist’s office once. The offender in the elevator wore what happened. It was instant and uncontrollable, I didn’t plan it, I couldn’t stop it. I was mortified and crying while vomiting. However, I hope she thinks the next time she puts that shit on. I honest to God do not remember what it is like to sit in a nice restaurant and enjoy a good meal and bottle of wine. If it isn’t the patrons wearing it, its your wait staff. No movie theatres, no museums,(hurts)no hockey games. Grocery shopping has been cancelled mid-way through I don’t know how many times. I used to really dread school events. Sitting in the audience trying to breathe shallowly through my sleeve or a kleenex. I was really happy to be a soccer mom. These effects usually last 2 days, not always. I really feel for you nnn, you have my sympathy. If I was around you, I can guarantee no-one would be lighting up near you. They’d be eating those smokes. I wish you luck.

  40. Cheyenne says:

@MrsOdie2: If your children’s friends start smoking, then your kids may choose to emulate them instead of you.

  41. Jammin says:

He probably started smoking when he was with Jen, since shes a chain smoker.

  42. JenJen says:

    He is so boring.

  43. lisa says:

    @jenjen

Then why in the world are you reading about him..

    makes no sense.

Wow all this because the man is making a film and is in character..

  44. fwozbo says:

My mother was a Parliament Light only smoker. Thank goodness she quit!

  45. Camille says:

@lisa: Ditto and I agree with everything in your comment 100%. 😀

  46. Lucy says:

@solveig@JenJen: agree with you both, he doesn’t do a thing for me either…
    #34: another Lucy, hi!

  47. hellaooo says:

Meh x 1 million. Pitt looks a monkey playing with a funny stick.

Is this a film for National Geographic.
Is this what they mean by getting into character

  48. lisa says:

    LMAO

All the comments from the people he does nothing for..

Why are you even clicking on the thread..and reading all of the 80+ comments.. such a waste of your valuable time..

But then coming here proves the point. He is fascinating. So much so that people that don’t like him feel the need to post on any and every thread about him

scratching my head at that logic..

  49. truthzbetta says:

OMG BP does look like that Golden Lion Tamarin.

With a hooch face. That was worth the price of admission.

Nobody said he’s not a movie stah. He could be Clint Eastwood’s buddy in Everywhich Way and Loose.

  50. Crash2GO2 says:

@lisa: The posts are here for all to comment on, negative or otherwise. Maybe you should try to accept that and relax.

  51. julia says:

    Worse and worse !

  52. lisa says:

    @Crash2GO2:

actually I am considered a very calm person.. thanks for the concern; but not needed.

I will continue to voice my opinion regarding the negative and silly comments.. which as you say is my right. Perhaps you should accept that as a fact of this post as well.

  53. Sakyiwaa says:

@Louise, @lisa, i agree with everything you lovely ladies said up there. i’m mostly amused by majority of the snark these days tho’, lol! you know, cos it’s just snark and won’t hurt Brad and Angie in any way, shape or form. those hilarious remarks are merely a drop in the ocean of bigger more important issues they gotta deal with each day. especially with this Japanese Tsunami…i wonder how UN Goodwill Ambassador Angie is feeling about it… 🙂

  54. Eve says:

    @ Lisa:

All the comments from the people he does nothing for..

Lisa, I hope you don’t take this personally but I think you should at least give the benefit of the doubt when a woman says she’s not attracted to Pitt. My older sister, like many others, thinks he’s the hottest Hollywood actor out there and she thinks he’s getting better with age. I think differently and I KNOW I’m part of the minority. You may choose to believe otherwise, but I’m being honest.

Why are you even clicking on the thread..and reading all of the 80+ comments.. such a waste of your valuable time..

I wouldn’t have if he wasn’t Angelina Jolie’s partner — I like her, not him. *I* (and that’s *MY* opinion) think she’s the most, perhaps even the only, interesting thing about him — I’d never cared enough about him before he hooked up with her. Whenever I read a post about him, that’s probably because I know something about her is going to be mentioned — by the post’s writer or in the comments. When I click on a post about anyone, I’m interested in reading different points of view — and sometimes I have a great time with what people (apparently, many on the internet are frustrated comedians) have to say, even when I disagree with them.

But then coming here proves the point. He is fascinating. So much so that people that don’t like him feel the need to post on any and every thread about him

scratching my head at that logic..

Here’s where I have to disagree with you. Sometimes I feel like posting about people who I strongly dislike (not his case, I don’t hate nor like him) just for the sake of it…or to get that out of my system, so giving my negative opinion about them may be just me expressing my personal point of view — I’m not trying to convince anyone I’m right nor that I wish everybody agreed with me. If some do, fine. If they don’t, that’s fine too. Maybe that’s the same reason that makes people post about him even though they claim to not like him.

Finally, it may have sounded like snark when I said I thought he looked like a monkey, but I meant that literally — there was no sarcasm whatsoever: his features indeed remind me of a marmoset. That was an honest observation, I don’t mean anything else besides the fact I don’t get his appeal. The first time I ever saw Pitt was in a movie called Cool World (which I watched for Gabriel Byrne) and I remember thinking, back then (many years ago), the moment I set my eyes upon him: “Dude looks like a monkey”. The very same thing I thought when I saw Julia Roberts (capuchin monkey), Nicolas Cage (a baboon) and the guitar player from ABBA (Dr. Zaius from the original Planet Of The Apes).

I hear all the time people giving often negative opinions about the men to which I’m attracted and I don’t give a tiny rat’s ass about it: it’s their opinion, they’re entitled to it and that won’t change my feelings about these men.
