Vanessa Hudgens: “I hope by the time I’m 30 to have a husband & maybe a baby”

vanessa1

I’ve always been pretty “meh” about Vanessa Hudgens, but her recent penchant for doing photo shoots in her underwear is a disturbing trend. We get it, V-Hud. You’re all grown up. Now put on some pants. Anyway, V-Hud is the cover girl for the April Shape Magazine, and I have no idea if she’s wearing panties and a bra, or if this is a bikini. I guess it doesn’t matter. While I think she’s got a cute figure, her face on the cover is… odd. Anyway, here are some excerpts from her interview:

Vanessa Hudgens admits distance doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. A major factor leading to her split from longtime love Zac Efron last December was the pair’s packed work schedules, which took them to opposite ends of the Earth at times.

“Long-distance relationships are hard no matter what,” Hudgens tells the April issue of Shape, out March 21.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t an app for that, says Hudgens, 22.

“When you don’t have face-to-face time, it’s just different. Having an iPhone helped, but it wasn’t the same.”

Although it’s over, the relationship remains a significant one in her life.

“We grew up together,” Hudgens says. “It was nice to have someone to share all of those experiences with.” She adds of Efron, who visited her (as a friend) on the set of her new movie, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, “It was a good thing. The relationship kept me grounded, and because I was with someone who knew me so well, I didn’t need to try to be someone I’m not.”

The good news: The break-up left her virtually unscathed – and ready to get back out there.

“I hope by the time I’m 30 to have a husband and maybe a baby,” she reveals. “I love children. They’re so much fun, and I would have a blast spoiling them!”

[From People]

V-Hud and Zac Efron are still spending time together, so I guess they’re still friends. Friends with benefits, perhaps. Or maybe Vanessa just loves him like her best gay friend, the one she helpfully ignores when he’s holding hands with a good-looking dude at an industry party. Vanessa and Zac totally go home together and analyze which boys were the cutest at the party.

  1. Lisa Turtle says:

Why do all women claim this as their life goal?

Sure, I could have a great career but what I really want is to be barefoot and pregnant!!!!!!!!

You would never see Zac Efron on the cover of a magazine saying “I hope by the time I’m 30 to have a wife & maybe a baby”

  2. Heather says:

She has a new nude photo scandal going on right now too, I think.

  3. Cherry Rose says:

It seems the formula for Disney girls is this:

    Work for Disney
REBEL WITH SEXUALITY OOZING OUT EVERYWHERE!!!
    Go to rehab
    Career is done at 30
    End

  4. Quest says:

Nah Lisa Turtle: Zac would probably be saying by the time he is 30 he would stop comparing cute dudes with VHud

@Cherry Rose: you forgot the crach and burn phase they all go through before rehab

  5. Rita says:

She’s wearing a brakini. Lingerie swimwear is all the rage although I don’t think the wonder-snorkle will be a big seller.

  6. Jackson says:

Didn’t she just “accidentally” release some very graphic images of herself? Like as in, yesterday? And, as in, very graphic? And yeah, that looks like a bra and panties – and it looks tacky and rather skeevy. Nice going, “Shape.”

  7. Violet says:

@ lisa: I don’t think she was claiming this was her life goal or that it was the only thing she wanted, just that it was something she wants at that stage at life. nothing wrong with that.

  8. brin says:

I like her and wish her the best…hope
she skips the drugs/rehab part and has a good career and happy life.

  9. Turquoise Blue says:

Lisa Turtle you read my mind! They would never ask this crap of a male celeb. If interviewers would just stop asking these stupid questions about procreation maybe the Jen Anistons of the world wouldn’t have to lie everytime they gave an interview. I don’t care whether Vanessa ever has kids or gets married. What does that matter to me? I want to hear what movies she’s doing and where she’s at in her career, not about her plans to get knocked up.

  10. KateNonymous says:

Hey, at least she said “hope,” like she realizes that nothing is guaranteed. It’s much more annoying when stars announce their future personal milestones as if there could be no variation from the plan.

  11. Iggles says:

Sigh.. of course she’s unscathed by the breakup. Apparently rumors she was his beard was true. I didn’t want believe them for the longest time, but since the break up Zac looks extra zesty.

And the no-drama “we’re still friends” way their handling it, screams that either they were over it a LONG time ago (in which case healthy young people would have been dating others and we would have heard rumors) or she was his beard and they were friends all along.

  12. cara says:

Memo to vanessa: Save those Jen Aniston soundbites for when you’re 40, they sound ridiculous coming out of your mouth at 20. And stop with the wide open beaver shots; good god, I felt obliged to give you a pap smear after seeing that view.

  13. Cherry Rose says:

@ Quest – Can’t believe I forgot that step, as it’s usually the most epic one!

It seems Hilary Duff was the only Disney Girl to escape this trend sofar. She took her money and ran to the hills (or was it Canada?).

  14. Runs with Scissors says:

“Lisa Turtle you read my mind! They would never ask this crap of a male celeb. “You would never see Zac Efron on the cover of a magazine saying “I hope by the time I’m 30 to have a wife & maybe a baby”

    Totally agree.

  15. Apple says:

translation, “I hope I marry rich becuase this acting thing just isn’t working out and I don’t want to have to move to the Valley”.

  16. sisi says:

at least Vanessa’s goal is more realistic than Lindsay’s, she said she would be an Oscar winner by the time she was 25.

  17. hairball says:

@Lisa Turtle, Cherry Rose, and Turquoise Blue:

    So agree!!

  18. Alice says:

Maybe she should work on growing a brain before she’s 30.

  19. Roma says:

“I want to be married so badly I just leaked more naked photos of myself to try to land a husband.”

I think she’s going about this the wrong way.

  20. Emma says:

I LOATHE the pierced-lips look she portrays in the second pic. Like she knows she’s hot..except, she’s not. She looks like a trampy underage girl.

  21. Jen says:

Nothing wrong with wanting to be a wife and mother. Certainly means more in the end than a stupid job.

  22. PrettyTarheel says:

    @Jen…
Uhm…can’t she have both, without one of them being “stupid”? Jobs are not stupid. They put the food on the table, the roof overhead, the SUV in the garage, and the mani-pedi on the nails.

  23. Cookie says:

Those nude photos were taken years ago when she was around 16. It pisses me off that people are quick to throw judgement and slurs at this girl instead of the malicious creep who leaks her photos every time something is going well in her life. It’s bullying and harassment in it’s highest form and the best we can do is blame her? She made a mistake, people do it all the time but aren’t subjected to public humiliation. Instead of just looking at the photos report the website for gods sake. Think about it. Anyway, she looks lovely on this cover.

  24. The H says:

Good luck with that big dream of yours kitten.

  25. Cha Cha Loca says:

None of these kids ever want an education. Go to college for christs sake, it’s not like you can’t afford it!

  26. Zelda says:

That pink dress is a very good dress.
    Anyone know who it’s by?

  27. jemshoes says:

She’s very cute when she smiles naturally – unfortunately most of the time she’s smirking.

I agree with other posters who say she was asked a question and answered it. The point is, she was asked. And she answered in a non-committal way that doesn’t sound unrealistic or dishonest.

  28. hyuch says:

Lisa Turtle, I would have made the same comment when I was in my 20’s. Now I have respect for women who know early on what makes them happy and can articulate that clearly. She is just saying FOR HER relationships are important and being succsessful in that part of her life would bring her a lot of meaning and fufillment. And that may not be cool but it probbaly is true so I say, good for her. Many men wouldn’t say it or think it but it might still turn out to be be true for them too. Many men might wish they had put more effort into that side of their life at an earlier age. I have friends in their late 40’s having kids (men) who lament how much they will miss out on and wish they had focused less on work and more on life/family earlier. Just saying.

  29. hatekyle says:

she’s pretty. i’m sure girls her age have the same cookie-cutter goals. she’s made mistakes in the past and she learned her lessons. what is important is what she is now and what she will become.
you can tell by her personality she’s a beautiful, grounded, happy girl.
she’s awesome. and again, very pretty.

  30. Newbie says:

    @Cherry Rose: LOL!
@Kaiser: I love “V-Hud”. It sounds sooo deliciously like the name of a clunker car. Bravo.
I don’t know why she annoys me so much. Maybe it’s because she seems to think she’s amazing at everything?

  31. latam says:

Lisa Turtle – whats with all this feminism bullshit. Man I study gender at im all into equal rights but she didnt say it was her lifes goal!

There is nothing wrong with saying she would like to have a family by 30, plenty of people my age (22) think that

  32. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I’ve been noticing a pattern in many posts addressing motherhood. Many posters treat motherhood as if it’s some menial choice reserved for the “dregs of society” (the conservatives/religious zealots/uneducated twits) who aren’t as highly evolved as some of the feminist posters here. I thought much the same way, until I became a mother myself. However, wanting to become a mother and being a feminist are not mutually exclusive. I’m educated and highly successful in my chosen field (which happens to be predominately male); and while these things are great, I consider motherhood
to be my most important accomplishment. So, while I respect your choice not to have children. I hope you’ll respect my choice to be a mother (even if it isn’t your idea of feminist/environmentally sustainable/insert reason here)
    end rant.

  33. me says:

I hope she’s figured out what to tell this husband and kid about why she’s leaking nude photos of herself. Another mom of the year!

  34. hatekyle says:

@me: you’re so insensitive, why would she leak her own naked pics? and she took those photos before she turned 18. she made a mistake and is sorry about taking them. if at all, she would explain her past like you would your own (fill in the blank).

  35. Isa says:

How does everyone know what question she was asked?
I assumed that the interviewer simply asked if she was ready to date again.

Of course, he/she could’ve asked what age she thought she would be by the time she started a family.

I believe a poster on here wrote that feminism is about chosing what’s right for yourself. I hate the others act like a women is setting others back 50 years by choosing to have a family.

Vanessa has a career already. It may not be as great as some but she has plenty of time to work on it. She never said anything about giving up her career when she starts her family, most women these days don’t. But even if she wanted to that’s HER choice.

I have ALWAYS known I would be a mother. Choosing a career has proven to be a lot more difficult

  36. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@Isa, ” feminism is about choosing what’s right for yourself.”

    Well said and succinctly put.

  37. latam says:

    @morticians
    @isa

    totally agree.

  38. Confuzzle says:

Who is this girl other than a professional handbag?

  39. helen says:

She wants kids because they are “so fun and she would love spoiling them?” God, get a puppy already.

  40. The Bobster says:

At least she got the order right.

Now let’s see the uncensored versions of the new nekkid pictures I’m sure she released herself.

  41. Dominique says:

I didn’t see the problem with her saying she wants to have a family at all either. She started her career much younger than most, I believe she even bought a house younger than most of us can say we did/have.

Although I’m not really a fan of hers, I can identify with wanting a family as one of my goals. Even though I went to college and got my degree, and work as an engineer, I love kids and the joy that a family can bring. I know this from growing up in my own family and my classmates and friends that have already started their families. I’m all for equality, (I work in a male dominated profession), but it’s okay for women to want to be maternal too.

  42. Alarmjaguar says:

Co-sign Lisa Tuttle who was merely pointing out the double standard that men are never asked this question, while that’s all anyone ever focuses on for female celebrities. She never said being a mother was a bad thing, or that being a feminist and mother is mutually exclusive (it certainly isn’t).

  43. slim27 says:

why do some women cry foul when they hear that another woman wants to someday be a mother? And deal with it, men do not get asked that question as often as women…….its just the way it is. Enough with the feminist claws coming out for silly reasons.

  44. Isa says:

    MorticiansDoItDeader–Thanks, I wish I could take credit!

    Alarmjaguar-

“Sure, I could have a great career but what I really want is to be barefoot and pregnant!!!!!!!!”

So “barefoot and pregnant” isn’t supposed to have negative connotations?? And you have to choose between a career and being a mother?

Lisa Turtle is certainly entitled to her opinion, but she wasn’t just pointing out a double standard.

And again, are we even sure what V-Hud was asked?

  45. Alarmjaguar says:

@ Isa, fair enough. I read that as hyperbole, but I take your point. Still disagree w/ slim27, but there you have it.
