Heather Mills jumps on the PETA breast milk bandwagon

Heather Mills is coming out publically in support of PETA’s campaign to get Ben & Jerry’s to start using human breast milk to make their ice cream. PETA took up the cause after a restaurant owner in Switzerland announced his intention to start purchasing breast milk from local nursing mothers and supplement 75% of his cow’s milk usage with it.

The 40-year-old former model is backing a campaign by PETA to make dessert company Ben and Jerry’s replace cows’ milk with the controversial substitute to lessen the suffering of animals on factory farms and improve people’s health.

Tracy Reiman, PETA executive vice president, explained: “…The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn’t make sense.

“So Ben and Jerry’s could do consumers and cows a big favour by making the switch to breast milk.”

Mills has said before that we should start drinking rat’s, cat’s and dog’s milk, so which is it, Heather? In fairness, the quote was made to make the point that cattle are a large contributor of the “threats to the planet”, but the thing neither PETA nor Mills has been able to figure out is that extreme comments prompt little more than extreme criticism.

Like everything extreme PETA does, I know they don’t realistically expect the popular ice cream brand to make the change. There are some people who don’t have a problem seeing breast milk as a reasonable human consumption, but there are alot more people who are just flat out grossed out by the prospect. I don’t know why Ben & Jerry’s was singled out by PETA, or even ice cream, for that matter. How about cheese, or yoghurt, or butter? And does Blue Bunny get a pass? They have really good Huckleberry ice cream.

    Do.Not.Want.Breast.Milk.

(but I’ve also heard about chemo and AIDS patients wanting breast milk because of the better nutrients)

Nice to see her snarl I mean, smile again. She has the most unpleasant expressions.

Years ago I forgot to buy half & half for my ex’s morning coffee. Squirted breast milk in his coffee instead. He never knew the difference.

…plus the fact that the FDA would never approve such a measure.

While I would encourage moms to try to breastfeed their BABY, this is too much. Breastmilk ice cream for the general public? I am soooo nauseas right now. Why not encourage soy or rice milk?

  6. anony says:

@ Daisy- that is so cute! haha Made me laugh. Way to improvise.
yeah I’m all for breastfeeding my own child but um, the thought of having it myself- and from just anyone? Creepy.
I drink Soy b/c I actually like it. Silk Light vanilla soymilk is awesome.

she’s gross. & PETA’s no better. i get what they’re trying to do, but they take it to such an extreme that’s it’s very hard to take them seriously.

  9. Jen (the other one) says:

    STFU, PETA. Stupid asshats.

  10. McKenna says:

That’s the nastiest, most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard. I do not want some stranger’s nasty breast milk. Ughh..PETA needs to go away.

  11. Obvious says:

I think PETA needs to be shut down. I’m sure they’ve done some good for the world, but now they have this ego bigger than the planet and go off on anything.

I killed a spider last night, are you going to come arrest me?

And those cows make to much milk for just their calves, and if you don’t milk them they get sore and their udders can burst. So we’re doing them a favor by milking them.

Get a hobby that doesn’t involve driving the rational portion of the world (90%)insane.

  12. Eidolem says:

Where would they even GET all this breastmilk? You know? I can’t imagine anybody wanting to sit there and be milked all ding-dang day unless they desperately needed the money.

I don’t love the conditions endured by cows and pigs and so on to supply humans with meat and dairy, but I HATE the idea of exploiting the poor instead.

I think that must be what they’re getting at–animals have feelings too etc.–but if so, they ought to just say so.

Causing people to barf over your ideas is only going to get you so far in this life.

Oddly, our receptionist, who just gave birth to twin girls a month ago and is nursing them, was in here today showing off the babies, and she mentioned that breast milk is a big thing with body builders. Apparently it goes for as much as $100 an ounce.
