‘Sucker Punch’ premiere is a parade of B-list fugness

sucker_punch_01_wenn3262799

Now for the photos of all of the girls at the Sucker Punch premiere (the Hamm Dong photos are HERE). The red carpet was a litany of “WHO?!?” and “Why are they all dressed like pageant girls?” First off, the star of this little ensemble, Emily Browning. She’s the blonde chick in the film, but for the red carpet, she wore red hair and black lipstick. Because it’s 1995. Also, she was one of the few ladies who wore cocktail length in this Erdem, so good for her.

Next up, Vanessa Hudgens in Jenny Packham. It would have looked interesting on another girl, at a different event. But on V-Hud, at a premiere in which she’s the fourth lead, it’s too much and too pageanty.

sucker_punch_05_wenn3262803

Emma Roberts isn’t in the film, she just showed up for the premiere. I honestly think she was one of the best-dressed at the premiere too. Cute pants, cute top = great premiere-wear.

sucker_punch_05_wenn3262861

Malin Akerman isn’t in the movie either, but any excuse to throw on a gown, I suppose. Why is she trying to out-pageant the stars of the movie?

sucker_punch_06_wenn3262862

Jena Malone is my pick for worst-dressed at the event. This outfit is just tragic. Something is going on with her face too. Sigh… at least she’s actually in the movie, though.

sucker_punch_09_wenn3262825

I think Carla Gugino is so, so pretty. I actually like this dress on her too, but I think it would have been so much cuter on a premiere red carpet if it was tea-length or knee-length.

sucker_punch_16_wenn3262832

Abbie Cornish in Amanda Wakeley…zzz….zzz…..

sucker_punch_18_wenn3262834

Diane Lane, why are you there? And why are you wearing this tangerine fugness?

    Good fashion report, Kaiser. I think Carla & Diane looked the best….go teach them young’uns how to do it!

  2. Katie says:

    I saw Limitless over the weekend, and I really liked Abbie Cornish in it. It was the first thing I’ve seen her in. I think she is one of those people who looks better in movement than in still photos.

    I really like Malin’s outfit. Emily looks terrible.

  3. Mia135 says:

    I agree, Carla’s dress would have been so much nicer if it were knee-length. She looks lovely though, love the floral print.
    “A litany of WHO?!?” is correct indeed because apart from Carla and Diane I don’t really know any of these ladies. I think Jena was a child star at some point?

  4. David says:

    Carla Gugino is the best

  5. The_Porscha says:

    I know these are a bunch of nameless actresses, but I think it’s kind of cool that they got their chance to shine. For some of them, it might be their only big moment, at least for a while, and good for them. I don’t really know how good the movie will actually be, but I’m seeing it this weekend, so I’ll let y’all know. As far as the ensembles here, yes, most of them are overboard, but in Hudgens’ case, I’m not surprised because she always does that. The rest of them needed to cut about 8 inches of fabric off while in the limo, but hey… live and learn, I hope.

  6. ordinarygirl86 says:

    If Jena’s top and skirt were actually together as a dress I would’ve liked it much better.

    Emily looks horrible! What was she thinking wearing such a harsh lipstick?

    Carla always looks amazing

    I actually like Vanessa’s dress, very laid back boho chic

    Abby looks great and she’s a great actress but like I’ve said before she lacks off screen prescence(sp) which is why people think she’s boring!

  7. Solveig says:

    Abbie’s dress would look good on someone like Jennifer Lopez or that woman that you, Kaiser, love so much… that busty latina (?) woman, sorry can’t remember her name.
    I like Diane’s dress too, but not on her.

  8. DenG says:

    What I want to know is–when will some women realize that not everyone’s bare legs are attractive? Not asking to put on pantyhose, but y’all need to pay attention to the pasty legs and red knees and strange feet. Can’t stand bare legs on most women and can’t stand stubble on men’s faces. Don’t get me started.

  9. guesty says:

    Meh.

  10. Isabel says:

    Vanessa’s dress doesn’t pop because it blends into the movie poster like camo.

  11. maria says:

    B-List is waaaaaay too generous.

  12. Leah says:

    I think you missed the Asian girl

  13. baby says:

    good report! i agree i like emma roberts’ look for this premiere, in my opinion she’s the only one who got it right

  14. Anti-icon says:

    I always want to see a pic of Diane Lane — although I agree that dress doesn’t properly show her beauty. The rest….meh.

    They are all trying too hard with the formal wear at this premiere. And what’s up with that little girl wearing stripper shoes and black lipstick. Is she film’s Taylor Momsen?

  15. kelbear says:

    Is that the same girl that was in Stepmom? If it is, man she looks different.

  16. RHONYC says:

    ditto on emma. young, chic & edgy. 🙂

    carla gugino has a sick bod…remember in ‘sin city’? still gorgeous as ever. 😉

    diane lane should go home & burn that dress and clutch. wtf kind of 99 dollar nordstroms mess is that anyway? 🙁

  17. Cherry Rose says:

    @ Solveig – Her name is Sofia Vergara.

    This looks like a really dumb movie, and I wonder if Malin Akerman is there simply because she was in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen.

    Everyone but Diane Lane looked horrible.

  18. Lizzard says:

    Someone please feed Jena Malone a cheesburger- STAT! That girl looks like a hot mess! The outfit looks like something the Goop would wear to the Oscars in the mid 90s when midriff/crop tops were “in”. She looks really skinny too. She was in Saved! with Mandy Moore and the Home Alone kid that I can’t spell his name, Mac.

    Emily Browning also looks tragic. The dark lipstick, the hair color, the white dress, everything looks like it’s draining her. She looks like Courtney Love when Hole was still popular in like 96 or something. Please tell me 90s fashion isn’t coming back, grunge rock didn’t do much for anyone.

    Diane Lane wouldn’t be bad if it were a different color, and Emma Roberts looked the best to me. Vanessa Hudgen’s wasn’t too bad. I don’t think she looks pageanty, it looks comfortable and very much her style but elevated a little.

  19. Anonymei says:

    Carla’s body is fantastic, so sexy.. She is one of my all time favorite actresses. I give this movie the two turds in a toilet bowl rating based on the trailer. It looks just terrible.

  20. Violet says:

    Emily browning is so pretty but she looks awful here. I guess she still has to get used to the limelight and learning how to style herself.

  21. Hautie says:

    “What I want to know is–when will some women realize that not everyone’s bare legs are attractive? Not asking to put on pantyhose, but y’all need to pay attention to the pasty legs and red knees and strange feet. Can’t stand bare legs on most women and can’t stand stubble on men’s faces. Don’t get me started.”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ditto. My two peeves also.
    Ugly bare legs/jacked up toes in strappy heels. While wearing a truly expensive dress.
    And men who do not groom. Ugh.
  22. curmudgeon says:
    I really wish the Emma Roberts thing wasn’t going to happen but I have a bad feeling that its gonna anyway.
  23. Sigh. says:
    These outfits are underwhelming.
    I agree, Emma Roberts looks the best, IMHO. Everyone else looks either “OK (Carla’s dress is too long)” to “Oh No (They should have sent Browning home to try it again).”
    And I enjoyed 300 (I really didn’t go in expecting to), but this, this looks like JUST the opposite. THIS mess looks more like Transformers 2 = loud, dark (save gratuitous explosions/fireballs), thinly-plotted, and minimally acted. And of course riddled with Snyder’s signature sloooooo-moooooo.
  24. Cha Cha Loca says:
    Jena Malone’s outfit-WTF?!
  25. Bodhi says:
    What.The.Fuck is going on with Jenna Malone’s face?!?! She is a beautiful girl & is extremely talented to boot. She is certainly not one of these interchangeable “nameless actresses” & I can’t for the life of me figure out why she is trying to look like one.
    All that being said, she has never had anything resembling good taste when it comes to dressing up for events
  26. Bodhi says:
    Why are ALL of my comments going to mod? WTH?
  27. MymaJane says:
    Jenna Malone has lost too much weight. Her face looks much better when it has some fullness to it.
  28. Mshuffleupagus says:
    Emily Browning is so pretty, why the hell does she spend so much time making herself ugly?
  29. Solveig says:
    @Cherry Rose, yes! Sofia Vergara! Thank you!
  30. Johanna says:
    Emily Browning is looking a la Paz de la Huerta with that lipstick.
    Their fashion was questionable not horrible & like another poster said, this was their moment to shine. Let them enjoy it. Oh & Diane Lane always looks gorgeous. She ages wonderfully.
  31. Dominique says:
    How is a dress that’s fashioned much like a t-shirt, too pageant-y? Because it’s long? lol I’m even pretty sure the material is jersey! She looks cute. It’s crazy how I constantly have to remind myself how old the writers of this blog are.
  32. ordinarygirl86 says:
    Okay I know this movie looks like it may be shit BUT I will go support it this weekend simply because it’s a mostly female led cast in an action movie and it’s SO RARE that Hollywood allows women to carry an action film. (unless you’re Angelina)
  33. Kim says:
    Who finances these movies? and who wastes their money seeing them?!
  34. Faye says:
    I’m seeing it tonight, I’ll give a full report tomorrow. (My bestie and her boyfriend are really excited about this movie so I’m going with them. I was going to wait for Netflix, but alas, I’m going to a midnight showing in IMax. But whatevs, I love my bestie and Lord knows I’ve dragged her to a lot of movies.)
  35. Jess says:
    Jenna Malone looks like Rumer Willis here.
  36. peacelovekitty says:
    I absolutely love Vanessa’s dress. If I owned that dress I would wear it to everything – even the grocery. It’s sexy and comfy looking at the same time. Win~!
  37. gabs says:
    Im not very excited for this movie but I do like that its a female driven action film. Theres rarely these kind of roles for girls so thats nice. WHY is emily browning posing like she cant be bothered to be there? Guurrl you arent big time yet. Also I love Jena Malone in every movie ive seen her in, its sad to see her be so tryhard. Yeah Emma Roberts was best dressed. She was also respectful that she wasnt in the movie and didnt upstage but looked cute
  38. cookie says:
    I love Vanessas dress as well, glam but effortless. Carla and Vanessa gets the best dressed from me. Emma Roberts surly face is always a downer. And shame you forgot Jamie Chung, she looked really lovely.
  39. Samantha says:
    What is this a bunch of jealous people who do not know or been to a premiere? I was at the premiere last night and Vanessa Hudgens and Carla shined. Emma? What was that you’re Home Ec project? Vanessa Hudgens is a very mature, and respectful, and very generous person. I have met her on many occassions living in the LA area, and she has been nothing but sweet, and remembers my name etc. So, why do you all judge someone you barely know? If it is about the pictures that is ridiculous because every post you have of her on here it’s always putting her down. Hate much? Go research her charity accomplishments that she does not go out and proclaim like most do on Twitter. She is 22 she has room to grow, and learn more. After all she has suffered you would expect her to be cold, and aloof. You should see how the fan girls who are gaga over Zac Efron act about as worse as you.
  40. latam2012 says:
    i think emma roberts’ outfit is awful
  41. Mouse says:
    Whoa, what’s going on with Jena Malone?! She looks about 40. I like the skirt and the top, but they don’t go together at all. Cute shoes though Jena.
    Oh Diane, orange looks awful on you girl.
  42. June says:
    Jenna Malone? I’d say she’s A-list, just choosier about her roles.
  43. Kelly says:
    Personally I prefer a movie full of people I have no idea about to an over-sold starfucking fest. I have far less of a problem with someone’s acting if I don’t know the details of their weekend crack binge etc etc.
    Generally speaking. If I were an actor, Id be smart and stay low.
    (Michael Fassbender & Christian Bale, you are both excluded from this overgeneralization, lovers.)
    I did love the comment just above from someone who apparently ‘goes’ to premiers. LOL. Uninvited, I presume.
  44. AS says:
    Watch Emily Browning. She won’t conform on the red carpet but she’ll always look amazing.
  45. Newbie says:
    I hadn’t heard about this movie until recently, but I think it’s going to be big at the box office. Haven’t read any reviews yet, but from what little I’ve read about it on the internet, fan boys are already going crazy.
  46. helen says:
    Samantha? V-Hud herself if you ask me. “All she has suffered”- hilarious! Poor sufferin’ V-Hud.
  47. helen says:
    Oh, Jena Malone is the girl from Donnie Darko.
  48. dj says:
    I’m definitely going to see this movie this weekend and dragging my husband along. Women if we don’t support a female casted movie then Hollywood won’t be making another soon. I think it looks fun and imaginative and I love women kicking butt! I also prefer that there are no big stars in this movie so we can’t predict who is going to die or whatever.
  49. Circe says:
    I remember Emily Browning from an old episode of Halifax. She must have been…wel, not even ten yet. She was GOOD. I’ve had a soft spot for her ever since.
  50. Faye says:
    I really liked the movie!!
