Colin Farrell discusses his friendship with the late Elizabeth Taylor

One of the more interesting sidenotes about Elizabeth Taylor’s funeral was that Colin Farrell was one of the few celebrity attendees. Many of us were like “Um, they were friends? Ugh, Colin had sex with Elizabeth, didn’t he?” Because Colin has sex with everybody. Even older ladies. Well, Colin has given a new interview in which he discusses his friendship with Elizabeth, and how their relationship started. He doesn’t come right out and say that they had sex, but I would be willing to wager money that he at least tried to go to bed with her. You know he was up for it.

Colin Farrell was one of the few non-family members who attended Elizabeth Taylor’s private funeral last week — but why?

“How did we become friends? You know, the old story of boy meets girl, the boy pesters girl with too many phone calls at inappropriate hours of the night,” Farrell, 34, tells Access Hollywood.

“I was just lucky enough to become her friend in the last year and a half,” the actor added. “I adore her…still.”

Taylor, who passed away of congestive heart failure at the age of 79, spoke of her fondness for Farrell in the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

“I love Johnny Depp, and I love Colin Farrell,” she told Kim Kardashian, who conducted the interview. “They’re both brilliant, nuanced actors with great range.”

As a result of their unlikely friendship, the Horrible Bosses actor was asked to recite Gerard Manley Hopkin’s poem, “The Leaden Echo and the Golden Echo,” at Taylor’s funeral.

“Elizabeth chose it. It was a tricky poem as well,” Farrell laughed. “Even in passing she had me under the thumb, sweating bricks.”

Farrell admits he’s still having a hard time coping with the loss of his friend. “I just miss her,” he said.

Aw, that was really sweet. I enjoy Sober Colin so much more than Drunk Colin. But you know, Elizabeth still enjoyed getting liquored up, especially in her later years. She was a frequent of many Hollywood gay bars, where the drinks were strong and the boys were adoring. Considering that Colin puts a time frame on their friendship – a year and half putting it in his post-rehab frame – I’d say they probably were not drinking buddies. Well, Colin wasn’t drinking. I’m sure Elizabeth was. And I’m sure she adored her little Irish friend. So sweet!

    How sad is it that Kim Kardashian gave one of Liz Taylor’s last interviews (if not the last)
    Donno, cheapens it somehow.

  3. mln76 says:

    I think it’s cool they were so close I kind of doubt Liz was in any shape for getting it on due to all of her health problems but if only she were 10 years younger….

  4. EdithP says:

    I bet he at least felt her up. And good for them both. What a gorgeous couple they would have been in their (her) prime.

    Elizabeth seems like the kind of woman you’d love to sit around and have a few drinks with. The stories!

    Kim Kardashian killed Elizabeth Taylor!!! That’s my newest theory-the shock of being interviewed by that useless, kat-faced, got-famous-through-a-sex-tape, unabashed famewhore who isn’t fit to carry Ms. Taylor’s diamond encrusted orthopaedic shoes just sent Elizabeth’s heart into complete shut-down.
    My story, and I’m sticking to it.

    Maybe Colin flirted with Elizabeth and that gave her pleasure. I doubt there was any sort of physical relationship – but I could definately see a mental & emotional one. He flirts, is suggestive, she’s the same way back and they enjoy it a lot. Mental sex if you will. Frankly, that sometimes is just as delicious as having the actual sex.

    But whatever it was, they seemed to have a good friendship and that’s what’s important.

    Ugh… I think it’s just horrific that people are bringing up Kardashian can’t we just forget that stupid f–ing interview ever happened. She isn’t in ET’s class period.

  8. sandy says:

    how sweet is that? and yes, i agree to forget about all the cheap fame seekers of Hollywood, Liz was one of a kind. may she RIP.

  9. Mel says:

    I agree with min78, forget the Kardashian. Here’s something to help that along…Liz at her prime, loved her voice. I want to know what changed, why wasn’t she buried in Wales?

    @PrettyTarheel: I’ll swear to your story in court cause it’s the truth!

  11. truetalk says:

    @Tango, mental sex before physical sex;even better!.lol

  12. The Truth Fairy says:

    Colin is one of the greatest actors of all time.

  13. Flipper says:

    @Mel,

    There is a Burton family crypt in Wales and she was tossing up at one time about being intered there with Richard, but that would be really odd as only Richards parents are buried there. Richard Burton is actually buried in Switzerland.

  14. TQB says:

    @Tarheel I will absolutely perjure myself to make that stick.

    The thing about Colin is that, whilst he was always physically hot, sober Colin is also super sweet and witty, which is way, way hotter. Generally I like my bad boys to stay bad, but I am impressed at his ability to be sexier in his less-bad state.

    Kadarshian will soon fade and be forgotten. Liz’s star will last forever.
