Is Megan Fox (finally) getting rid of her Marilyn tattoo?

foxtattoo3-1

Although nothing can compare to the effect of Megan Fox’s mouth upon her own career, her tattoos have also been something of an albatross as well. To be certain, the actress made some really bad ink decisions prior to her big Transformers break, and I’m pretty sure that not even the King Lear quote on her back compares to the most prominent atrocity — the looming Marilyn Monroe face of doom — on her right forearm. Strangely, Armani chose not to remove the offending Marilyn tattoo in either this spring’s or last fall’s lingerie advert campaigns within which Fox and her wasp waist starred. However, film directors are always quick to cover up that mess with makeup, although that probably won’t be a problem soon, since her star is fading fast. Still, it appears that Fox has gotten the point or, at the very least, has formed her own regrets about the Marilyn skin art, for the tattoo was significantly faded (as if by laser removal) during Fox’s appearance at the recent Celebration of Jaguar Design:

Megan Fox is a little less inked up these days.

The stunning actress, 24, seems to be in the process of having one of her tattoos removed.

A portrait of Marilyn Monroe on Fox’s right forearm appeared noticeably lighter in photos taken in Manhattan last week, with parts of the design already gone altogether.

The Jennifer’s Body star still seems to be sporting some of her other tats, however, including quotes on her shoulder blade and side as well as a tribal tattoo on her left wrist.

Here’s a close-up view of the faded Marilyn:

Before we get to the full-on “before” photos, here’s a midway comparison shot from the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards in January. Since nobody paid any attention to Megan at the event, no one even noticed at that point that the fading had already begun:

Finally, here are some pre-laser treatment photos from just last November at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Passion Play. I hope that Megan decided to remove Marilyn just for herself and not as a means to career improvement, since she’s a bit late for remedial action on the latter end.

I think it’s a good move. The tattoo ruins her dressy, evening looks.

  2. Lisa Turtle says:

Good for her. Marilyn was a beautiful woman, but That was a particularly ugly tattoo.

I wouldn’t count Megan Fox down and out yet. She’s diversifying her movies. She took a supporting role in a Jennifer Westfelt film with Jon Hamm.

  3. She really doesn’t try to hide those thumbs, right! I would be so self conscious about them. I know, she can’t help it. (don’t yell at me)

  4. Kaye says:

As in some other posts, the pictures do not show up for me. It’s just a green/black line and the “shop” logo. Odd that it’s not every post.

    Anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: Okay, I see that these threads are written by Agent Bedhead. Those are the only ones that have their pictures replaced by lines.

  5. Kevin says:

Nothing you can do with those Big Toe thumbs though.

  6. Jackson says:

Hideous tatt. But I still love that pink dress.

  7. DenG says:

Guess she just realized that not getting tattooed makes someone truly cool these days. Say no to sheep!

  8. KJ says:

I’m glad she’s doing that. I’m a big fan of tats, have a few myself, and in theory that wouldn’t have been a bad tattoo to have I suppose. But she got it when she was less famous, ie. less rich, and didn’t do her research properly. She should’ve picked an artist that specializes in portraits, because that’s a pretty mediocre portrait. It’s like she got it on spring break by someone who’s been tattooing for a year.

  9. Twinkle says:

@Kayte I’m having the same issue

  10. Reality says:

Ok, I’m just going to admit something shameful. I find Megan Fox incredibly beautiful, and don’t see the plastic surgery nightmare everyone is always talking about.

I know people think she’s ‘single white femaling’ Angelina, but I actually find her much more attractive than AJ was at this age, but then they’ve both had some work done.

  11. annerox says:

i am having the same issues with the pictures not showing up.

  12. Working says:

Kayte me too!! Kinda nice when it happens on a Megan post in the morning tho :p

  13. Solveig says:

Good choice, that is an ugly tattoo.
She’s one of very few celebrities whose fashion choices I usually like, both white dresses are beautiful, even the pink one is amazing.

  14. viper says:

So much for her “I am COMMITTED to having her face for the rest of my life.” o_O if she couldn’t even stay committed to something as asinine as that God know what else she’ll ditch.

As for the tat itself well all her tats are nasty so just removing that one isn’t enough at all. But at least we wont be subjected to those as were with this one. Such a stupid girl for getting it in the first place. Now shes prob paying a lot more to get it removed than it cost to scratch it on.

Too bad she can’t do anything about her face – thats a lost cause. Also, the weight, still nasty skinny to me.

As for her new movie projects, I could careless – no acting ability no talent wont merit me giving up my hard earned cash.

  15. Kloops says:

Hideous tat to obfuscate those unfortunate thumbs. Good for her for getting rid of it. Next up: ease off the Botox.

  16. lucy2 says:

Reality, I think she’s pretty too, but I think she’s been getting progressively more plastic.
Removing that big distracting tattoo is a good idea, esp. if she’s doing more modeling.

  17. Celebitchy says:

I think I fixed the error where the images are not appearing. Let me know if they work again for those of you who were having that problem!

  18. Tazina says:

I never even noticed the thumbs until the media started talking about them. It’s a non-issue. I am so glad she is getting rid of the Marilyn tattoo. It is the worst one she has, just destroys getting dressed up in a nice gown.

She is pretty but has a grainy complexion which is noticeable in close-ups.

  19. Charlotte says:

finally, that tattoo was rather fug tbh

  20. Kaye says:

    Fixed! Thanks, CB.

  21. Jag says:

Maybe she realized that she’s going to be a model more than an actress now, and it costs money to airbrush out the tattoo. I don’t know why you’re saying she’s getting rid of it “finally;” I didn’t realize she had a due date to get them removed. It wasn’t the best tattoo, but if she liked it, so what if she kept it?

  22. jover says:

Agree Viper; the public is over this bimbo; she has no talent, brains, charisma, or acting ability – just a dime-a-dozen artificial starlet that believed she was the shit – remember the incident in Egypt where she was too lazy and self-absorbed to get up and view the pyramids? for that alone I despise her. She should remove herself from the public completely; I don’t think she has the charisma or skills to pull off a 2 a.m. infomercial. Btw, she’s not beautiful, she’s as decrepit and ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.

  23. Stephani says:

I did not have problems today with checking these pics out, but I have on many other posts…most disturbingly on last weeks HGF, more than half of them did not show up! I was sads…

  24. She has a lot of poorly done, poorly placed tattoos. Like, really bad.
    Tribal Tramp-Stamp Springbreak Bad.
It’s almost as though she got them all impulsively to help establish an image. . .

But this is Megan Fox we’re talking about! Surely someone as talented as Fox wouldn’t be concerned with something as vapid and superficial as a manufactured aesthetic. . .

(Ps – KJ: Great minds think alike! What is it about vacations fueled with alcohol that makes for awesome blackmail fodder?)

  25. nikki says:

I can’t tell if Meagan Fox is a decent actress or not because the only roles I’ve seen her in have no depth and don’t take much talent to act out. I do hope to see her play more interesting roles in the future though, I want her to be talented and smart.
As for the tattoo, I personally love body art I think it can be fun and meaningful, but of all Meagan’s tattoos, the Marilyn one is my least favorite.

  26. Kezia says:

That tattoo has ALWAYS looked like a blonde Beyonce rather than Marilyn Monroe does anyone else see it??

  27. Hollowdoll says:

I don’t care for her at all. But I think her thumbs are fine. I like interesting thumbs. Anyways it’s not like you can choose how you’re thumbs look and they are not hideous.

  28. Zelda says:

    @Kezia:
Hey yeah! I kinda do see that.

  29. gg says:

I don’t ever see her except on CB, but I am very glad she’s getting rid of the horrible tatt. Why people get big portrait faces, especially young girls, on an obvious place like that, maybe the most delicate exposed skin on a woman, I will never know. Glad to see it go! Now everybody else needs to stop doing it. At least put it on your back or something. Takes away from the prettiness of the face.

  30. Juu says:

Tattoos cheapens your looks, IMO. Also, I agree she’s beautiful now, but before the surgeries she was a boring K-Stew type.

  31. Newbie says:

I think she’s really beautiful. But I didn’t like that tat either. I’m glad she’s getting rid of it. And I love that pink dress on her. She looks good in just about anything. As for her career, I don’t think it’s over yet. It’s definitely stalling, but I think she’ll come back one way or another.

  32. Camille says:

@viper: I also agree with your comment. Well said.

I don’t find this girl attractive at all, she lost ‘the hot’ years and several plastic surgeries ago. She’s also a bobble head at this point.

I do think that getting rid of that fug tattoo is a great idea. I now wish that Heidi Klum would get rid of her ugly forearm tattoo as well.

  33. Cherry Rose says:

Tattoos do not cheapen your look. I have a very beautiful Brian Froud faerie on my left shoulder blade, and I have many people, young and very old, compliment on it all the time.

I’m currently in the process of getting huge orchids on my rib cage (which hurts like f*ck by the way), and have gotten complimented on those as well.

So while there maybe trashy tattoos on already trashy people, tattoos in general do not make you trashy.

    /End Rant.

  34. Shy says:

Those actors are stupid. I can imagine how much time they need to spend to hide those tattoos when actors are playing some period film or some shy person. Maybe it’s finally getting to their brains that in the end producers will think how much time and money (since time is money) they need to spend to hide those tattoos and rather will choose another actor.

P.S. Yeah, and poor Merilyn. She doesn’t deserve this. At first Megan put her there and now she is ashamed of it and is erasing Marylin.

  35. Janna says:

She is hot. I saw her in an interview on Leno and she is beyond sexy. She is more beautiful in person, movie, interview, than in photos.

  36. Alipop says:

she’s trash from the valley, and got THE most stupid tattoos EVER! Who knows what else that girl has hiding. She thinks removing this is going to make her more famous, or a good actor. I don’t think so! It’s a smart move, but the girl is still dumb

  37. Ur Favorite Bartender says:

Seriously, the thumb? Lol don’t hate. Apparently God gave em to the most beautiful people- myself included 🙂

Seems silly to me that someone would suggest she try hiding it better. Wtf. She didn’t get famous for her thumb honey lol not everyone is born with your level of complete bodily perfection, obviously

My bartender advice: ditch the tattoo, get a tan and STFU

  38. Ashley says:

I think that tatoos of human faces always look creepy and out of place no matter who’s face it is, and no matter who is wearing it.

  39. Hakura says:

@DenG“Guess she just realized that not getting tattooed makes someone truly cool these days. Say no to sheep!

That’s a bit rude (to those of us here who have tattoos), isn’t it? Not everyone who gets tattoos does so carelessly, drunk, or on impulse. Many of us think long & hard before going through with something we know will be permanent parts of our bodies.

Those who *DO* think about it ahead of time almost never regret their decision or tattoo. I waited almost 8 years, wanting to be absolutely certain, while doing the actual design myself. A lot of people make bad/impulsive decisions these days, but not *everyone*.

That said, Megan is making the right choice having this removed. It was a bad decision, both in subject/quality, & placement. As an actress, you have to be considerate of the fact that you may need to cover them for your roles, so having to deal with them everytime is likely irritating for the makeup crew. My tattoo is on my upper back, for the sake of being able to cover it for jobs/appropriate events.

  40. wifeyskarsgard says:

I canNOT stand this chick no matter what she does or doesnt do. I guess she will forever be on my hate list.
