Pippa Middleton wore McQueen too: wasn’t she pretty?

wenn3315785

I didn’t realize it, but Pippa Middleton was wearing Alexander McQueen, just like her sister. If you were anything like me, you were all “Kate, get out of the way so I can see your sister’s gorgeous dress!” And it was – which shows me that while I might sometimes think negative thoughts about My Beloved Duchess of Crumpets, she was a decent enough person to let her sister wear a really beautiful maid of honor dress. It was so pretty, I thought it would make a stunning wedding dress on it’s own.

As it turns out, this is (probably) not Sarah Burton for McQueen, this is flat-out McQueen. Cameron Diaz wore the same dress in red for this year’s Golden Globes. The House of McQueen likely just replicated a season-old gown in white/ivory for Pippa. I love it. I also think there were some adjustments made, like with the buttons in the back.

I know a lot of you were hating on Pippa for not being as pretty as her sister, and I even got into it yesterday because the chica was orange, but I think Pippa looked really lovely. She was well-behaved too. And I know some of you are all “OMG, Pippa and Harry!!!” Nope. He likes ‘em trashy and blonde, not pert and brunette. But it’s a nice image.

UPDATE: I just added a few more photos that came in.

Love the little one with her tongue out. She is so over this wedding!

Pippa looked lovely and conduted herself appropriately. Not surprising.

    Indeed I can’t stand Pippa.

The dress is nice but not flattering on her, and super boring.

Absolutely lovely. THIS dress will be copied by many brides. Particularly for second marriages.

I must add this is a bride who loves her sister & wanted her to also look lovely on what is traditionally the bride’s day – much as I hate that selfish notion.

I think I’m the only one who thinks she is the ‘prettier’ sister. The dress was really nice, especially in the profile pic. I do think the neckline is just a tad too low for the occasion, however.

i think pippa is wearing the dress kate would have liked to have worn (minus the sleeves, of course). given the choice, i think kate would have gone the carolyn bessette kennedy route. however, she didn’t have the freedom, but her sister wore the next best thing.

I too noticed how pretty that dress was, and also thought it would be nice for a bride as well.
I hate when brides choose awful bridesmaid gowns, this one is lovely.

I’m not a fan of either of these Middleton broads. But I suppose we’re stuck with them now, so they’ll have to do. I dare say Pippa looked better today. I was underwhelmed by Kate. Eyeliner FAIL.

How come nobody has mentioned the fact that Pippa’s dress is white? I thought only the bride is suppose to wear white???
Also is Pippa short for another name or a nick name?

TQB: “I covet this dress. She looked gorgeous. I wish I could get married again and wear it!”

But you can, my dear, you can. Just ditch the spouse. I kid I kid. Renew your vows – this is a perfect dress for that. It’s also a simple dress to copy & shouldn’t be too expensive. I have a very similar short dress in navy blue silk crepe from 20 years ago. Too bad I’m not quite a size 2 anymore.

LeManda: “How come nobody has mentioned the fact that Pippa’s dress is white? I thought only the bride is suppose to wear white???”

That’s just some silly American notion. In fact, a simple white or off white dress does not detract from the wedding gown as colored dresses often do.

Same with the idea of having a million ADULT bridesmaids. Bridal attendants are traditionally children which makes more sense to me.

  23. Solveig says:

@LeManda, I think Pippa is the nickname for Philippa. Unfortunate name, tho. In Italian it means “hand job”…
I too thought she was the ugly sister, in fact I didn’t recognize her at first because she was surprisingly pretty. The dress was beautiful and she pulled it off pretty well.

Edit: Katherine M (23), it is not just an American notion, over there (Italy) usually bridesmaids and wedding attendants shouldn’t wear white.

I thought Pippa looked amazing – especially since I usually think she is fug. I too was underwhelmed by Kate’s dress, and turned off by her makeup – that said she still looked nice. Is it me or does anyone else think Kate licks her lips entirely too much?

  25. Mairead says:

Apparently royal bridesmaids always wear white. Even Diana’s bridesmaids were in white.

Remember this fad for wearing white at weddings is fairly recent as blue is traditionally the colour of “purity”. White was a very difficult to keep clean, so by wearing it you could show off just how well-off you were.

  26. Katherine M. says:

The notion of no white at a wedding is for guests. Obviously the color worn by bridal attendants is chosen by the bride.

Her dress coordinated well with Kate’s. I love the way it skimmed her body and moved with her, it was like liquid. She was obviously very devoted to her sister and worked hard to keep the kids — and Kate’s train — under control. The perfect little sister.

Pippa looks plain compared to Kate. But that dress on her really looks nice. I’m amazed at how little the dress wrinkles. The flowers in hair look was done just perfectly so and I’m a huge fan of little girls in white dresses and wreathes of dainty flowers in their hair.

Kate’s lucky she got her dad’s eyes and Pippa got her mom’s eyes. Kate and Pippa basically have the same facial features except the eyes. And unfortunately, Pippa looks older than Kate.

  52. Kim says:

Pippa looked beautiful. The dress was a little to night gowny for me and im suprised Kate was ok with her sister wearing such a sexy gown because it distracted from Kates dress sometimes esp when she was walking behind Kate holding her train – you coudlnt help but stare at Pippas behind!

I do applaud Kate and Pippa wearing McQueen. Perfect choice!

Im sure Alexander and Diana watched together & couldnt be happier & prouder =)

  53. Cosign Kim! says:

I agree that the dress was too assy. It was all you could see as they filmed Kate’s walk up the aisle. One’s ass should never upstage one’s sister on her wedding day. Anyhow, it looked OK on her. But I wasn’t blown away. It just bugged me the way her as was the only thing you could see when they filmed Kate’s walk from behind.

I also strongly dislike the Middleton women’s eye makeup. The black eyeliner is hideous.

I think the tradition of bridesmaids wearing white comes from Greece where it is said it will confuse the evil spirits from figuring out which one is the bride. This way they won’t be able to do anything evil to the bride.

I agree it’s a stunning dress and Pippa looked AMAZING. That being said, it was cut too low, especially for such a formal morning wedding. That’s it. That is all I got. And Kate has to be a confident woman to let her sister wear such a drop-dead gorgeous dress on her big day!!

Report this comment as spam or abuse

  58. Hmmm says:

“Too assy”? I concur. Cause it’s the only curves Pips has. She couldn’t have worn the dress if she had hips and a bust. It would have been tres trashy for a wedding. As it is, her decolletage was this close to being too low.

Meanwhile, Kate in essence was wearing a strapless bustier gown with a lace overlay. So not edgy, contemporary and certainly not subversive. It’s like she flirts with the style but will never commit.

  65. JennJenn says:

Concur with others that the dress was a hit, the fake tan a miss. Kate, too, would have looked more like an English princess if she had let the tan fade so her natural complexion could shine. For some reason, white women with dark tans look older, even if the color is fake and not from excessive sun exposure.

  66. Tobias says:

I guess I am the only one that thought Pippa’s dress was very trashy. It was very tight fitting and she might as well been in the nude. You should not be able to see where the crack on her a$$ is through the silk like dress. She looked like she walked off the set of Jersey Shore with her over done orange spray tan. Tacky, tacky, tacky and knowing the bride OKs what her bridal party will be wearing just shows you how little taste Kate Middleton has as well.
