We’re going to be doing a TON of posts about the Met Gala today, because there are so many good photos of major celebrities dressed insanely, so it should be a good day. Here are some of the first photos that jumped out at me – two smug, snotty bitches buddying up on the Met Gala red carpet. Gwyneth Paltrow wore an off-white, long-sleeved Stella McCartney with a thigh-high slit, and Lea Michele wore red strapless Escada.
I have to say this – this is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen Lea Michele look. I mean, she’s not GODDESS DIVA FABULOUS, but this red suits her coloring beautifully, the hair is good, and while the whole “strapless red gown for a red carpet” is rather Fashion 101, it still manages to look individual and pretty. Lea is a TV Girl – it’s nice that she went with “a look that worked” rather than “a look that screams ‘I AM HIGH FASHION’”.
Meanwhile, I kind of hate Gwyneth’s Stella dress. I thought it was Michael Kors, first of all, because Kors did this sillhouete… a decade ago. Gwyneth should remember, because she wore those Kors dresses back then. This is not helping Gwyneth look any less dated and out of touch, you know?

Wow I have to hand it to Lea she actually looks better than Gwyneth even outshines her standing next to her and I have never thought she was a pretty girl. Goopy should add a little color next time.

It looks like a curtain— the sequins give it a ‘textured’ look and the color is that of a sofa. =Curtains

Goop’s gown has a lovely silhouette but it is a boring color that needed to be dressed up with something else. An “up-do” perhaps or some jewellery – sapphires or emeralds – something with a bit of color? Her body looks great though – the legs are fantastic.

i think the color is great for GP . I am not a fan of the slit though , I think it’s too high and makes the dress look kind of trashy.

I love that Goopy got bested by both the Glee bitch, (although red dress+red carpet always comes off awkward) and by Renee Zellweger, whose dress I loved.

I like Goopy’s dress. I like Lea in red, but I think the style of that dress kind of… Overwhelms her. I think someone like Sofia Vergara would be able to pull that off better.

My theory is – she was at the height of her fame/ snooty bitch elitism in the late nineties, and so constantly dresses that way in a desperate effort to preserve What Once Was. Sad Goop.

#18 I bet Stella and Gwyn chat about how they both worked so hard to get where they are today without any help from their respective famous parents or the privilages that come with being the daughters of well connected, rich people.
I bet Gwyneth dresses in this repetitive style because she wants to create an iconic style that is associated with her and emulated by others like, Audrey and Marilyn; she is trying to remake herself as a brand after all.

I love both of their gowns but I’m not going to say anything bad about Gwyn’s because I’ve always loved Ms McCartney’s work. she’s often admitted to being inspired by vintage things her mother used to wear back in the day from Chanel & Chloe {the label she used to be the head designer of.}

why do i feel like i’ve seen gwyneth in that dress 25 times??? she is so boring. and her face is looking extra jacked. lea looks good here and kaiser your totally right about her choice being right for a tv girl, the look works (instead of some high fashion fail). she even looks like she has a little more meat on her bones, not scary skinny like she was a little while ago

I don’t think Stella has earned the hateration that Goopy deserves. Sure she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and maybe she’s unbearable to the people in her life(I have no clue) but she isn’t a celebutard and her label puts out interesting stuff. The biggest difference between them is she doesn’t feel the need to hold a press conference to tell the world how amazing she is every 3 weeks.

Holy WOW–maybe I’m in the minority, but Goopy looks amazing. She has the long, lean body to pull off that style, her makeup looks fresh, her skin is glowing, and while I don’t love the fabric of her dress, I think it ends up working.
Also, that first picture where Lea is braying with her big ugly open jaws? Yeah, GP looks regal. Lea looks like a clown (as usual). I’d rather spend a day with GP over LM any day.

Goop looks pretty, if monochromatic. She’s got fabulous legs. Lea looks very pretty, that red is perfect for her skin. But the woman next to Lea in the first picture? The one wearing a dress made out of my grandmother’s Christmas tablecloth? She needs a spanking from the Fashion Spanking Squad.

But when the theme IS mcqueen, and it’s the Met gala, which is all about fashion, i don’t think it’s considered a succes when you look Like you’re heading for a prom. Lea “glee” whateverhernameis failed in my book.

Now I know where I’ve seen this dress it’s a very close copy of Anne Hathaway golden globes 2011 dress the only difference is the color and Gwen has a side split.

Wow. if you’re standing next to the queen of trying to hard, Lea Michele and you look like you’re trying harder, something is seriously wrong. Oh, Gwyneth. It’s just sad. The dress is terrible. Here’s someone who can carry all-out over-the-top McQueen and bland McCartney is what she goes for? Maybe she wasn’t offered the McQueen? Oh, how the mighty have fallen. All I can see in the first pic is Lea Michele’s giant schnozz! And Gwyneth looks good from the side but doesn’t have the curves to fill out that dress (in the straight-on shots). She still looks fabulous – especially next that troll from Glee.

Not sure why Goop always feels the need to emphasize the fact that she has no waist. I’m assuming the dress looks better in person. She really needs to do something different with her hair. Try brunette maybe?

I have to agree with the majority of people on here, Lea looks amazing in the colourful red dress. She pulled it off I have to admit, I don’t understand how GLEE makes her look so um.. Not pretty. – however as much as I love Gwyneth and as much as I look for pictures of her this has to be one of the worst dresses she has worn. Personally I don’t like it, but it’s cause I’m not into sequences and glittery stuff. I think she looks amazing in the dress and that she suits it really well but I just think she should of gone for something a bit brighter. Both look gorgeous anyhow. <3
