Wasn’t he the one that made the crack about jake Gyllenhall at the CMAs?

  2. lucy2 says:

Ugh. I’ve been liking him on the Voice, didn’t know of him before that, but that sort of nonsense isn’t good.

  3. mln76 says:

Ugh….ignorant hicks, never learn do they.

  4. Mari says:

No, he’s just crackin’ a joke. I say the same thing about any guy that grabs my behind…unwarrented that is 😉

  5. neema says:

Men have just as much a right to their own bodies as women do.

And amongst men they don’t have to observe the same rules about “not hitting” that they do with women.

How many women would hit another woman if they were subject to unwanted grabbing by another woman?

  6. irishserra says:

I don’t like this man. I think he is an arrogant prick. BUT… so what? I’d beat down anyone who touched my ass, man or woman. Anyone with half a brain should know to keep their hands to themselves.

People are just reading more into this because they’ve got nothing better to do with their time than stir up $h@!.

  7. Mari says:

    @neema AGREE!

  8. truthSF says:

I have to say that I agree with him…No man or woman should get touched by anyone without their permission. And if said person getting touched retaliates and strikes the “groper” I feel that’s the consequences one must suffer.

  9. lucy2 says:

I agree no one should get groped without permission and if so have the right to defend themselves. But if he’d written “anyone” instead of “any man” it would have a whole different vibe.
But anyway, I see that he apologized and said he didn’t mean it that way. Not the end of the world, just always a good idea for someone in the public eye to consider what they put out there.

  10. Anaya says:

Interesting that Blake would say that because his own sexuality has been questioned. I’m not saying that Blake is gay. I don’t know and I don’t care. It isn’t uncommon for gay men who are still in the closet to make offensive comments about gays as a way to emphasize that they are straight when they really are not.

  11. icantbelievethis says:

    He also said:
    blakeshelton Blake Shelton
“@becchez: Please make it right! I want 2 like u again.” Ha! Ok try this. Its meant to be from a girls point of view.. Thus, “Shania Twain”

Are we really that touchy that we need to jump on a non-issue? He was jokingly re-writing a Shania Twain song. It is sad that people need to smear someone w/o looking at what was actually done first.

  12. Mshuffleupagus says:

He’s a country singer isn’t he? Doesn’t that answer the question by default?

  13. YAY says:

Replace ‘man’ with ‘negro’ – same poop, different pile. It’s like 1960’s bigotry vs. 2011 bigotry. Weird how people can’t see this..

  14. Sarah says:

People are making way too much of this. Read the rest of what he has to say on twitter, he’s not homophobe.

  15. angee says:

I don’t even know what he said, but the nasty comments here like “if you don’t like homosexuality or think it’s OK means YOU’RE gay” nonsense or alluding to Southerners as being stupid or ignorant is just as nasty (if not MORE so) as any so-called homophobic comment he could have made.

  16. Samantha says:

The song is Any Man of Mine…couldn’t it just be that he didn’t change the HE? Maybe he re-wrote it because someone touched his wifes ass? Its like people want there to be drama. Stop looking for issues where there aren’t any.

  17. Rita says:

First off, Blake don’t give a crap what anyone thinks and if a guy grabbed my husband’s bum, the guy could only wish he’d grabbed Blake’s tush. My hubby wouldn’t appreciate a woman tweaking his butt either. He feels that’s disrespectful to me and to having good manners in general.

  18. Michelle says:

Mshuffleupagus, your stereotype doesn’t count as an answer.

  19. RobN says:

He’s tweeting what he thinks is a great lyric in a song written and sung by a woman. Anybody looking for homophobia simply likes making something out of nothing, which is certainly a lot easier than making a real contribution to the world.

  20. Oi says:

My god people…Read the whole story. And when are we going to stop looking for homophobia around every single f*ucking thing? Its just as bad as the bigots themselves.

  21. Solveig says:

    And this guy is?

  22. janna says:

the man didn’t mean anything. sheesh! i’d punch anyone who grabbed my ass without my permission!

  23. mln76 says:

I will stop ‘reading homophobia’ into things when people in this country stop dying because of who they have sex with.

  24. Meh says:

Is that supposed to be what makes Christy Turlington annoying or was it before that she was annoying?

  25. Tiffany says:

In the case of Blake, its Jackass-ist. He should not be allowed to use the phone or speak without an adult present. He does not strike me as someone who is intelligent enough to have an appeal or know how touch on controversal subject matter satirically.

  26. Talita says:

    WTF?

  27. sarah says:

mln76, who is dying because of who they have sex with? are we talking AIDS/HIV, STDs? I am confused.

Okay to make fun of: Southerners, republicans, fat people, bush, tea partiers

Not okay: Obama, gays and blacks.

Is that right? I dont want to say something that others will jump on wheter it is meant that way or not.

  28. Joe's Mom says:

You said it @Oi, #20: People spend way too much time these days being indignantly indignant about everything and anything. It was a JOKE. He apologized for any “hurt feelings” plus he never said anything about “gay men”. GLAAD spun the story in that direction. Most of us would feel the same way if some stranger grabbed our butts, male or female.

  29. wifeyskarsgard says:

I actually like him on The Voice, his kinda cute. But people are way to sensitive these days, dont blow out of proportion he didnt say his homophobic.

  30. Kimberly says:

I don’t like him at all. He comes across as a complete ass. It’s his facial expressions~he’s not good at hiding what he’s thinking!!!!!!

  31. mln76 says:

@sarah I guess you don’t read or watch the news a lot-no I am not talking about STDs. I am talking about the people who continue to be violently attacked in the good ole US of A for being gay.
And where did I mention the god damned Tea party or ‘W anyway???

I do give Blake credit for apologizing and I am going to hope that he didn’t mean it that way though

  32. MourningTheDeathofMusic says:

#9 – if Blake laid a hand on a woman for touching his ass, he’d be a woman beater.

Double standard society and all. So yeah, I can see why he would say any man rather than anyone.

  33. Trillion says:

Wow, #27. What planet are you on where that claim is even close to reality?

  34. danielle352 says:

The comment is on the line, that’s why it can be taken both ways. He’s a celebrity to some, so he needs to edit in order to not offend. Just bc you weren’t offended doesnt mean everyone else wasn’t either. It doesn’t matter if he didn’t mean it, it matters that it came across that way to some and he needs to be more responsible with the tweets, period.

Don’t we care what this sounded like to a kid instead of us?

  35. Sash says:

    He is sexy!

  36. DiannSteph says:

He’s very, very narrow-minded if one has read his Twiter page in the past.
He tweeted a few months ago while staying in a NYC hotel “I wonder what the Muslim guy in the next room is gonna blow up” I’m paraphrasing but that was the gist of the tweet.

He also tweeted a lot about immigrants and not being able to speak English. He’s narrow-minded. He’s been called out on that stuff before.

  37. Brittney says:

He is absolutely close-minded and that Tweet was absolutely homophobic. No, no one should be touched without their permission. That is not what his Tweet is about. He’s implying that gay men go around violating straight men, and damned if they try it on him! Whether you see it that way or not, that’s a large part of the reasoning for homophobics. Just like the recent controversy (that most on this site laughed about) over the AIDS Tweet, you only have to grow up gay in this country, or study this country’s history of homophobia, to know that both of these comments are very clear digs at gay people that have been made over and over and over again in the past.

Just because you don’t know about the context doesn’t mean comments like his are not part of a long tradition of homophobia. We need to know so that we don’t repeat the hatred of the past… but some of you would rather laugh it off instead.

  38. NayNay says:

I personally think only an ignorant a*hole would make stupid comments/tweets/lyrics, etc… as he has. People need to think before they comment/tweet/ sing lyrics, etc…, to see if what they are saying might be offensive to others. Stupid is, as stupid does.

  39. sarah says:

mln, the part about W and tea partiers was not aimed at you. And i do read the newspapers daily, i actually live near where Matthew Shepherd was killed (it was over drugs/money, not him being gay, by the way). i havent seen a lot in the way of repors of any gays being killed/beat up by anybody lately.

My comment about who you can and cannot make fun of was directed at the comments about Blake Shelton obvously being a dumb hick/country star/southerner and a comment on the hypocrisy in the good ole USA of what is hate and what is okay.

  40. Ari says:

Reading all these comments I have to say I have no idea who the hell this guy is but I was going with the idea that perhaps it was just an off-color comment considering no one should lay their hands on anyone’s body without permission sexual or otherwise and he has every right to punch some dude’s lights out. I don’t care if he is gay or not. But seeing all the incidents of his teeny brain not comprehending the bigger world out there…I changed my mind.

  41. Magsy says:

Got those alky-hol lovin’ eyes. He’s not intelligent or sophisticated enough to be gay.
