Whitney Houston is in outpatient rehab for drugs and alcohol

Whitney Houston is in out-patient rehab, a source told TMZ, and at first they tried to claim that it was not for “drugs or alcohol,” and gave the vague excuse that “she’s cleansing herself to get ready for a new movie.” I don’t get it. Is that like going to rehab for depression like Eva Mendes or Kirsten Dunst? Does she have just a “minor” problem with drugs and/or alcohol? As part of Whitney’s rehab, she gets to go out when she wants, but has to bring a a minder with her. Why would she need one of those if she wasn’t in rehab for drugs or alcohol?

After TMZ ran that publicist’s fictional version of events, Whitney’s team admitted to People that she was in “an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment,” and that she “voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.” That sounds much more likely except for the “voluntarily” part.

The last we heard from Whitney her 19 year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was cited for underage drinking for being twice the legal limit. Krissi was popped by police during an incident in which Whitney’s 22 year-old adopted son, Nicholas, was cited for brandishing a Glock during a fight between Krissi’s ex boyfriend and another guy she was hanging out with. All this went down at 4am in a gas station parking lot. A lot of you mentioned that you’d never heard that Whitney had an adopted son, and I guess it’s the first time I’ve heard of it too.

Given was a mess Whitney is, I guess we know now how her kids are ending up in drunken gun fights.

    “Drunken gun fights”

    Talk about clutching one’s pearls!

  2. Lil'Monster says:

    Whitney who?

  3. brin says:

She should be in treatment full time, outpatient won’t work, she’s kidding herself if she thinks it will.

  4. danielle says:

I’ve heard consistent rumors that she’s using drugs again. Feel bad for her kids.

  5. Hautie says:

Well Whitney was a total cracked out mess for a good solid 15 years.

So one little 6 week trip to rehab is not going to suddenly cure her.

It will be a daily thing for the rest of her life, to stay sober. And she is going to waffle back and forth for the rest of her life.

So it looks like she is having one of those waffling moments now.

It is sad to see that her whole destructive behavior, has turned her 19 year old daughter into a hot mess too.

And Whitney is too screwed up to care.

  6. Kristin says:

Maybe she thinks rehab for herself might help her daughter’s chances with the charge. I dunno.

  7. Blondie says:

I read on another site that her team is vehemently denying she’s being treated for drugs and alcohol. The story is she’s detoxing to get in better physical shape for a movie role.

  8. Amanda G says:

It sucks that her life has become this. She had the best voice in the biz.

Just out of curiosity, where is Bobbi Kristina? (HINT: Hopefully, she’s in rehab treatment with her ma.)

  10. truetalk says:

i’m worried the 2 kids were out at 4am but since their mum is in rehab who is supposed to be watching them?
it breaks my heart to see whitney like this.
btw, what on earth is on the head of that lady in front of whitney in the last pic????

Everytime I see her I always wish she had never met Bobby. I know she made her own bed, but she started out to be such a beautiful and talented woman. Her life now represents how to lose all your looks and talent to booze and drugs – classic poster warning to all young aspiring pop artists. Her future will now be a struggle with addiction, and always being compared to her earlier days – something I’m sure depresses the hell out of her.

  12. lucy2 says:

I agree with your post, Ingrid. It’s really a shame.
There’s no point trying to cover it up, everyone knows she’s had problems for a long time. At least someone got her in there for some help.

  13. mln76 says:

Not that Bobby is a prince but she was drugging it up way before Bobby rumors were always around that she had a drug problem and that she wasn’t the goody two shoes she pretended. Bobby has always been the scapegoat.

  14. Carla says:

    Hey Whitney,

I fought this nasty disease too, I know how hard it is. I applaud you for realizing that you need help! Please, rely on GOD through this time & all times, he *will* bring you through this if you let him. I will be praying for you and your daughter. The both of you will be just fine, just keep workin the steps girl! Hold that head up too 🙂

  15. searching4grace says:

She used to be so talented, and so beautiful. I wonder why so many children follow in their parents footsteps when it comes to addiction and abuse. If I’d had to grow up like that, I think I’d go 100% the other way. Or realize I have an addictive personality and stay away from it to begin with.

  16. Justaposter says:

mln I am starting to think that way myself.

  17. Crystal_Cat says:

I agree that Whit had problems before Bobby came around but come on, the guy sucked the soul right outta her. He beat her, degraded her and used her for money and status. He’s not the scapegoat, he’s the devil that completely destroyed her.

  18. Brittney says:

I hate that celebrity kids never lose the “adopted” prefix. It doesn’t work that way in reality; no one introduces their children as adopted or biological. They’re theirs, period. I don’t think it should be any different for famous kids.

  19. anyhoo says:

    @Brittney

I have always hated that too. It’s as if they are less important because they are adopted.

And yeah, her kid never had a chance with parents like that. So sad really.

  20. Dana says:

    #17:
I disagree with your assessment b/c there have been numerous reports that Whitney’s so-called “beatings” at the hands of Bobby Brown were drunken brawls that got simply out of control. Given Ms. Houston’s personality on “Being Bobby Brown”, I believe it.

Also I don’t think Mr. Brown had anything at all to do with the drug busts of Whitney’s brother Gary or her cousin, Dionne Warwick. Further proof is Whitney’s on-again off-again relationship with Kim K’s ex and Brandy’s brother, Ray J who has substance abuse issues of his own.

  21. mln76 says:

@Crystal Cat as I said Bobby is no angel but I used to live in West Orange NJ (Whitney is from East Orange) way back before she was with Bobby there were stories of drugs and debauchery…Drug addicts get progressively worse and as they age hide their problems less and less, the thing that ultimately sucked out Whitney’s soul was drugs.

  22. truthzbetta says:

If Hollywood ever did a real PSA against drugs instead of glamorizing them they’d show Elvis before and after drugs.

They’d show Robert Plant before and after drugs.

And then they’d play Whitney’s voice before and after drugs. Seem fun, but if you don’t grow out of that shit in your youth look at the human wreckage drug and alcohol abuse causes to the greatest talents. She was phenomenal and now she’s a scratchy voiced wreck b/c she had to make adulthood a 24/7 coke party with a felon.

  23. Hakura says:

Hard to believe… There are countless couples who’d do anything to become parents (including being on the long ‘waiting list’ for adoptions)… But Whitney & Bobby, who are beyond inept/horrible examples… manage to have not *one*, but a *few*. (Even adopting one, what the fuck was that agency thinking?! )

  24. Julie says:

mln, your assumptions are correct – she had issues with drugs way before Bobby Brown. They have separated and she is still messing up. Look at Nicole Richie and Paris for example: Nicole’s life is way better since they broke up while Paris has gone downhill. Only Whitney can help herself.

  25. jemshoes says:

Whenever a classic Whitney hit song from the 80s plays on the radio, I always tune in … and I always think what a waste the last 10-15 years have been for her. 🙁

  26. Bex says:

It makes me a little sad that someone with such an astounding natural talent- her voice was so unique-could ruin it with drink and drugs.

When you think how professional singers look after their voices, she must have been aware that every pipe she smoked and every shot she downed was ruining her gift. Addiction or self-destruction, I don’t know but what a waste.

  27. Ja says:

This is just sad and truly might end with a tragedy. Kicking a dead body around just for fun is also sad, people.
