Lady Gaga, “Fashion Icon” in Thierry Mugler at the CFDAs: stunning or meh?

fp_7428165_cfda_aar_60_92

I swear, by the time Lady Gaga had actually collected her award at last night’s CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) “Fashion Icon” Award, her sketchy Thierry Mugler dress had slipped down to the point where Gaga was exposing full-on boob, nipples and everything. I’m not going to be using those photos, because even though I unwittingly exposed myself to Gaga Tit first thing this morning, doesn’t mean you have to see it too.

Anyway, I guess Gaga is on to a new “look”. No more sheer leopard-print catsuits and chola wigs and makeup? On to an electric blue Louise Brooks wig and more subdued makeup. She’s a “fashion icon” now!

By the way, after the CFDAs, Gaga partied at The Standard, wearing nothing but a g-string, and a sheer catsuit. Oh, and round nipple pasties. You can see those photos here. Personally, I’ve seen enough of Gaga to last me the rest of the day.

Sidenote: Did you hear what Courtney Love said about Gaga during Love’s The Fix interview? Now that C. Love said it, I can’t get it out of my head. It’s pretty good: “She may be doing fine at the moment, but I’m worried about her future. She’s very young, and she’s very talented, but she doesn’t seem to have any female friends. Or any straight guy friends for that matter. Instead, she surrounds herself with this coterie of gay stylists and advisors who’ve turned her into this weird, sexless Barbie doll. I was raised by gay guys myself, and I turned out all right in the end. But you know, you can only pull off this meat-dress act for so long. If she doesn’t watch out she’ll turn into a lonely drag queen. Straight guys just aren’t in to that kind of thing.”

Yikes! That hair would go well with Amanda Bynes shoes a few posts back.

  2. Dorothy#1 says:

Wow! Courtney Love is making some good points! That should be a news story itself!

I am so over Lady Gaga!

  3. cz says:

Wow, I hardly recognized it was her.

  4. brin says:

I just hate those frankenstein “shoes”. Thanks for sparing us the tit pic, Kaiser.

  5. Quest says:

For Gaga – I think this outfit was moderate until the strip down and the butt view.

Kaiser, Gerry was looking good though

Edit: Those shoes gotta be a bitch on the back

  6. RocketMerry says:

For the love of Saint Peter, what is this?! Oh, come on, now…

  7. Maritza says:

Good nose job! Her costumes are getting boring. She must have rooms full of them by now.

  8. S says:

I love the outfit, and I like the hair – just not together. She should have gone with the grey/blonde she was sporting a month or so ago on that Vanity Fair shoot/cover instead. The blue draws too much attention away from the dress. Still love her, though 🙂

  9. edvard says:

seems like she popped into Ricky’s on the way for some green hair and a burt’s beewax

  10. Samigirl says:

I actually LOVE the dress, but those shoes? They are hideous, not to mention walking on your tippy toes is such a pain.

  11. Leigh says:

    Fashion Icon?
Ridiculous. She’s a spectacle that is relishing her short lived career. Sure her songs are catchy, and I’m happy that she’s made a large group of marginlized kids feel better about themselves – but there’s no substance there.. There’s no way she’s a fashion icon – she is utterly ridiculous – and that’s why she’s entertaining..

  12. MooHoo says:

She is going the same way as Paris Hilton (see previous story). over exposed, and now getting boring. there is nothing exciting about her arrival at an event as she is everywhere, every day. she’s even on germany’s next top model on thursday. Less is more girl.

  13. The Other Katherine says:

Girl’s going to break an ankle one of these days. Those shoes are scary.

  14. LadyJane says:

What is empowering about needing a man to lead you everywhere because you have hobbled yourself with ridiculous shoes? She is no feminist.

  15. AL says:

It’s just embarrassing… And this “freak show” is going on for too long now.

  16. LadyJane says:

PS Did she have her nipples surgically removed? Where are they? (Sorry I just saw that they did, in fact, fall out. Lohan would be proud)

  17. Schnauzers!!!! says:

Normal make up, normal hair, NORMAL SHOES and she would be stunning.

She needs to work on the bottom and the top and I agree, get RID of all of the Queens giving her the terrible advice. I happen to know several gay men who would whip her into gorgeous shape in seconds…well minutes… 😉 Then I could find her a good shrink for her self esteem issues.

  18. Xx says:

The word “Clowny” comes to mind but at least its not made of meat.

  19. aenflex says:

I detest the bitch as a mother. But that was a nice, pertinent moment of clarity for Love.

  20. yeppp says:

lady gaga has become a joke she is not a fashion icon, she is trying way to hard to be different she comes across looking like a clown.

  21. Sam says:

Love the makeup. I think she looks more feminine. Softer. However everything else needs to go.

  22. Crash2GO2 says:

Wow, nice statement from Love. Who woulda thought? As for Gaga, I like the hair actually. Other than that, I need to bleach my eyes.

  23. Kasey says:

WHY do people like this ridiculously overrated and just plain ridiculous woman who intentionally sets out to perpetually look outrageous and STINK?!! WHY do people keep encouraging her? I’ve been out of the US for 2 years now and I’m curious, do people really still LIKE her? To me she has become the musical version of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan (if Kim Kardashian isn’t careful she’ll be added to that list too).

  24. NoFrank says:

What is empowering about needing a man to lead you everywhere because you have hobbled yourself with ridiculous shoes?

    Yes.

I think maybe she’s gotten to the point of believing that her schtick speaks for her, which history tells us is about the time you start looking for sharks to jump. Not that she could jump anything in that footwear.

  25. Shay says:

    LOL fashion icon.
fashion fugly more like. She is a joke.

  26. Nanea says:

Her face looks much better now than it did a few weeks ago in Cannes, when it was so bloated. Other than that, my opinion of Gaga is not good.

But CLove’s comment? Brilliant, lucid, just like she used to be a few drug excesses ago.

  27. mia girl says:

    @NoFrank

I too was going to use the jumping the shark reference. Only instead of wearing the leather jacket (like Fonzi did) while jumping, she’ll be in those ridiculous shoes.

  28. Kiki says:

Sometimes I really can’t stand her because I believe she is truly talented to be doing this sort of stuff… She has an amazing bod anyway.

  29. Blue says:

This bitch needs to go sit in a corner somewhere. Just needs to stop and go away… she can come back if she promises to stop with this shit

  30. vanessa says:

sick, sick, sick. I’m over her as well.

  31. Laura says:

I’ve just seen the after party pics (my eyes!!) In Britain I’m fairly sure this would count as “public indecency” as she is basically naked. Or is that wishful thinking?

She gets away with so much by means of being just completely non sexual. Ugh.

  32. Alexa says:

Geeeeeeezzz!! I like Lady Gaga because she seems like a good-hearted person. I also like this couture look (especially with the makeup and hair) on her. Courtney Love . . . YA! Her input on the situation matters . . . NOT! (What the heck is going on here lately?)

  33. ELA says:

Did she do something to her face? I didn’t recognise her at all.

  34. serena says:

Well I’m upset for saying what I’m just about to say but: Courtney is right.

  35. skibunny says:

She could do very well on talent alone. Why the silly costumes? She’s actually quite attractive when not dressed as a clown.

  36. Wendy says:

She actually is a fashion icon. Which is why the council of fashion designers of America gave her an award saying so.
She has been an amazing platform for so many designers to showcase their creations.
    Thank god for Gaga.

  37. Jover says:

Fashion icon my arse – if she is, who wear hears get-ups in public no one. We’ve all seen the youtube clips when she was just stefani esp. the one when she was on an episode of MTV’s punked just a totally ordinary mall girl; the corporate entertainment machine transformed her and now she’s living in her own world. Anyone could be a “star” if they had the millions thrown at them like this pedestrian pop performer.

  38. Kim says:

The oufit is ok but the shoes are stupid. They scream look at me and not in a good way.

  39. WickedSteppMom says:

I don’t think I want to live in a world where the things that Courtney Love says are logical & make sense, and Lady Gaga is a fashion icon…

  40. Ron says:

I think Lady Gaga is great. But she is not a fashion icon. First off, she hasn’t been around long enough to merit that. Also, a fashion icon should be easily emulated. Who can wear that outfit and where? She is always in COSTUME which is patently not fashion. As Liberace once said about his costumes “you can’t wear this stuff to the grocery store”

  41. Amanda G says:

Wow, I actually agree with Courtney. Gaga is very talented, but I think her antics are outshining her music.

  42. Jess says:

Does she not own any other pair of shoes? How does someone win fashion icon when they wear the same pair of shoes ALL THE TIME?

  43. Trillion says:

Courtney can certainly speak from personal experience about what straight guys are NOT into. As in, what straight guy ever admits to sleeping with her?

  44. judyjudy says:

She is so unappealing. I feel gross every time I look at her.

  45. Shoe_Lover says:

I cant believe I agree with Courtney Love!!!

Gaga needs to step it down a notch and tae a break. she is trying way too hard. perhaps its because deep down she knows she isn’t truly original- she is just walking the path that Madonna, Grace Jones, Cher, Kylie Minogue et al paved

  46. Nev says:

some of her songs are catchy…paparazzi and judas…the chorus part…but the dressing up and the Madonna copying is not working…I cannot wait for new Madonna album already!!!! gaga seems like she is trying too hard to impress…she should leave the styling for the videos…we would be more interested in what was next that way.

  47. LindaR says:

Stunning or meh? What about stupid-looking. Why not give us that choice?

  48. Newyorking says:

She was at the McGraw Hill building today. I work right there and when people were running towards her, I could not believe GaGa was there. The woman could not walk to save her life. She wore a really tight swan skirt, and I don’t know if it was the skirt or her shoes, but she just could not walk. She was sporting the same green hair here.

  49. Alarmjaguar says:

“What is empowering about needing a man to lead you everywhere because you have hobbled yourself with ridiculous shoes?”

    Amen, sister!

  50. Chris says:

Herman Munster just called and says he wants his shoes back. But apart from the clod hoppers that’s the best I’ve seen her look.

  51. RHONYC says:

I remember when I was in school and EVERYONE would diss Cher in her gloriously, inappropriate (half naked) Bob Mackey frocks at the Oscars in the 80’s …and I just thought to myself “Maaaan! She is soooo bold & brave!”

To know that you are gonna take immense flack and endless guff for these antics no matter if people believe you are serious about art or snub their noses at the idea, takes guts. Lots & lots of guts. Fin. 😉

  52. myTbean says:

I still think she’s a man or transexual post-op. Nothing wrong with that… but it could explain her strange, over-popped sexual neutrality.

  53. James says:

When is this guys 15 minutes of fame going to be over?

  54. Davis Pullan says:

    very good blog dude 🙂

  55. Terri Chris says:

The evolution of a Western artist is from innocent to bad to weird, i.e., Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

    Gaga went directly to weird.

Her first hits were collaborated with by a straight white male: Nadir Khayat.

I could be proven wrong like KISS.

  56. wiley says:

hehe. she’s one of the hardest-working people in show business. she’s incredibly talented. she’s not afraid to be ugly. and she’s rather fearless.

and you’re all just jealous, maybe? eh, who knows.

but you might as well get used to it. she ain’t goin’ nowhere.
