Kristen Stewart rolls eyes, bites lip at rumors she’ll be cast as Casey Anthony

wenn5669006

A few weeks ago, there was a rumor going around that Hollywood would end up making a movie about Casey Anthony, and that the leading contender to play Casey would and should be Kristen Stewart. None of this was definite – it was all tabloids and entertainment shows playing a “What if…” game and K-Stew’s people had nothing to do with it. Unfortunately for Kristen, the overwhelming majority of people were like “Hey, that lip-biting eye-roller would make a great Casey Anthony!” And now, according to Us Weekly, Kristen’s people are trying to shut it down.

Casey Anthony: The Movie, starring…not Kristen Stewart. Kristen Stewart is none too pleased with chatter linking her and Casey Anthony, the 25-year-old Florida woman acquitted this week in the 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

“Her people are really annoyed about the Casey Anthony comparisons,” a source tells Us Weekly of the Twilight actress, 21, who shares the same brunette locks and brooding eyes as Anthony, who is expected to go free within weeks.

“Kristen wants that talk to blow over soon, because it looks really bad.”

Don’t expect Stewart to portray Anthony in a flick anytime soon. “She would never for no amount of money portray that girl,” the source says. “It’s grossing her out. All those entertainment shows are doing polls and what not and her people just want it to stop!”

[From Us Weekly]

On one side, I completely understand why Kristen is upset and peeved by the comparison – true, Kristen is, in my mind, a lip-biting, unprofessional troll, but she hasn’t killed anyone, and she doesn’t deserve to be associated with or compared to Casey Anthony. Another part of me thinks this Us Weekly story is hilarious on so many levels. Isn’t part of being an actress “playing characters that are not like you”? Look at someone like Charlize Theron, and her Oscar-winning role as Aileen Wuornos. If Kristen was smart – or if she had people working for her who were thinking about her career, long-term – she would embrace the rumors and acknowledge that, as an actress, it would be a remarkable career achievement to play a sociopath like Casey. It would also help Kristen break out of the “Bella” type-casting, wouldn’t it? But if that happened, what would Kristen complain about then? I still think that Kristen should be actively seeking out roles like this – like, Casey Anthony – instead of some kind of lip-biting, eye-rolling, hunched-over, monotone Snow White.

It’s just disgusting they even want to make a movie of her life, murdering your child and getting off Scott free shouldn’t be entertainment you pay $7 for and get your popcorn.

I refuse to see any movie. Buy any books. Watch any interviews and I will also boycott any actor who tries to make money off of Caylee’s dead body.

As for Kristin she’s a terrible actress but at least she’s staying away from that. I can respect that.

  2. mannequin says:

Poor Kristen. Just because she’s not a loudmouth fame whore, she always gets a bad rap. I believe she’s one of few actresses today that just simply loves her craft, she’s a wonderfully entertaining actress and that’s all we can ask for.

Besides, she’s far too delicate looking to resemble Casey Anthony.

  3. poiup says:

She’s a cutie, it’s better to have one lip-biter eye-roller around rather than all the same old people.

  4. Rita says:

It may very well be that Antony will be treated as a true pariah. Jerry Springer said the other day that he wouldn’t provide her a stage if he was paid a million dollars. Time will tell but if Springer won’t give you a microphone, then nobody wants to hear from you.

  5. Mae East says:

Casey Anthony will be a television movie at most. For the next few years, anyway, K-stew won’t be doing television. If this were a prestige project, a la MONSTER, maybe…but I’m sure K-stew’s people are annoyed more than anything by the suggestion that she would do anything that doesn’t open in a movie theater at this point in her career.

  6. carrie says:

i thought Stewart was very convincing in tHE RUNAWAYS and WELCOME TO THE RILEYS (she acted some young girls yet tired of the life and with her dead eyes ,she was well casted)

and i understand why she doesn’t want to be associate with Anthony (this woman didn’t call the police whereas my 2 years old daughter was missing since one month )

  7. Cheyenne says:

@Rita: She will probably end up doing porn movies like Amy Fisher.

  8. GeekChic says:

It seems like no one can win on this site. Don’t get me wrong, I love Celebitchy, but at times it seems as if people are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. She wants no association with a known sociopath, which I completely understand, and yet, “If Kristen was smart – or if she had people working for her who were thinking about her career, long-term – she would embrace the rumors and acknowledge that, as an actress, it would be a remarkable career achievement to play a sociopath like Casey.” But if she actually said she wanted to play this woman, she would get blasted for that, too. I can see it now — “Why would she want to be associated with a known sociopath? This is just famewhoring at its worst,” etc. etc.

This girl is heads and shoulders above most of her peers in that she isn’t a famewhore, she doesn’t call the paps, she shows up to work and is professional, doesn’t trash-talk her coworkers, and isn’t falling out of clubs wasted and flashing her bits at 2am. Her worst sin? She’s shy, awkward, and has a couple of acting tics that she will likely eventually outgrow. People always say she’s ungrateful, but I honestly think she’s just massively shy and doesn’t know yet how to give a good interview.

I’m not a “fan” so to speak (I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in anything, to be honest), but from what I’ve seen on this site and others, she just doesn’t deserve the derision she receives. I mean really, calling her an “unprofessional troll?” That sort of vitriol should be reserved for someone who deserves it like Lohan and her ilk.

  9. aquarius64 says:

Unfortunately for Stewart she has done some uncouth and base crap and that’s why I think there is a comparison. It’s not based on her acting ability.

  10. Maritza says:

She would really be good in that role, she should go for it. If not, then maybe Alyssa Milano could do it.

  11. Catherine says:

I’m with GeekChic…I’m not a Stewart fan, but this is kinda over the top hate. I wouldn’t want to play Casey Anthony either, and I have every confidence that had Stewart wanted the role, you would have ripped her to pieces for wanting to play that trash on screen.

  12. Kaiser says:

GeekChic – I disagree on many of your points – I used to think she was just awkward, and I appreciated that she was different than many of the famewhore starlets, but eventually I changed my mind. She’s just some barely talented actress who lucked into a franchise, and she consistently acts like, yes, an unprofessional troll, IMO.

  13. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

“ the Twilight actress, 21, who shares the same brunette locks and brooding eyes as Anthony…”

brooding eyes? More like CRAZY eyes. No wonder Kristin is offended. I’d be pissed too, being compared to crazy eyes Killa (Larry David reference).

@Riana, I’m with you. I’m disgusted knowing this woman will accumulate great wealth and notoriety from murdering her daughter.

@Rita, one can only hope! However, I suspect she’ll receive a book deal, made for TV movie, and be interviewed by Diane Sawyer, at the very
least. She will, no doubt, be a very wealthy woman.

I just hope Casey Anthony NEVER reproduces again.

  14. mannequin says:

    Get Lohan; she’ll do it.

  15. the original bellaluna says:

I wouldn’t do a movie about that child-murdering sociopath either. Nor will I watch one. Or buy a book by/about her (unless it’s an actual psychological study by a reputable professional).

I did the same with the Peterson case. I haven’t even seen a Peterson-themed movie on Lifetime. Nor will I.

  16. Katy says:

OK, people need to lay off Kristin already. When did wanting to maintain a private life make a celebrity less likable? At least she’s got talent and doesn’t whore herself to the paps like Leanne Rimes (or however you spell her name).

  17. UKHels says:

aren’t lip biting and eye rolling the entire gamut of this chick’s acting range

  18. katnip says:

@Mae East.. I think you are spot on.

Kristen and Rob both are now too associated with the Twilight movies. Some people don’t survive a franchise so early in their careers. It is Positive and Negative. When the last movie comes out then we will see how her career goes. As well as Rob. Right now it seems as if their Twilight audience are not coming out in mass to support their other projects. So as I said time will tell.

Shy and awkward may be the reason. I know women twice her age in the industry that can’t string 2 sentences together and they don’t get ribbed for it. But listening to and reading her interviews, she comes across sometimes as if she is too above that “celebrity thing”. She has made some off hand remarks about other celebrities. She is still young. But she needs to work on her interview skills. She needs a fan base outside the Twihards. If she wants to be more anonymous then do indie films and don’t take those roles anymore. YET she is doing that Snow White or whatever movie. (double talking)

I think she is a pretty and I actually like her in other roles. I tried to watch the Twilight movies and almost scratched my eyes out. Just couldn’t do it.

  19. John Wayne Lives says:

@ Riana that is exactly how I feel! And F*ck the jury for finding her not guilty!
    No justice for Cayliee 🙁
And shame on her mother for lying for her.

  20. Liamarie says:

I like Kristin Stewart. I thought she was good in “The Runaways” and “Adventureland.”

  21. Louiset says:

I don’t understand how anybody could say this is a great career move and Kristin is stupid for not wanting the role. Right now Casey is the most hated woman. If anybody says they want the role they would be crucified. Maybe Kristen is just as disgusted by her as most most people are. Also I agree that this is only going to be a tv movie. It’s not going to be a huge career break.

  22. HotDog! says:

Long time lurker, first time poster, and I feel lame for even bothering to make this the first article I comment on, but here goes:
Wow. SUPER harsh, Kaiser. I agree with all the posters above who are coming to K-Stew’s defence. In your eyes, it’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t.
YEAH, Twighlight sucked a big one. Whatever. Don’t buy into that franchise. She was great in Welcome to the Rileys, IMHO, and I also think she’s a way better role model than the KarTrashians and the 16 and pregnant idiots. Never seen her out, drunk driving or flashing crotch shots at the paps, she seems to have a pretty good(albeit sulky) head on her shoulders, and I’m sick of hearing you bash her. End of weird lurker rant. Lol.

  23. jocular says:

Hmmm I’m not sure that I know what unprofessional at 19 looks like then. She is consistently employed, so presumably no bad references from directors, she does the work and in my eyes can create a charcter,e.g Welcome to the Rileys. The Casey acquittal is incredibly raw for everyone at the moment, her too I expect. She was due to play a transexual prison inmate, though I think the funding fell through as sometimes it does, that’s shows a willingness for diversity surely? She’s got plenty of time to play varying characters and has so far not been opposed to independent films, she may even get less shy as she gets older so… Give her a break.

  24. Cheyenne says:

@Kaiser: So what exactly are the characteristics of an “unprofessional troll”? And if you call Stewart an unprofessional troll, what would you call Lindsay Lohan?

Stewart may seem standoffish and she’s not constantly cheesing for the cameras, but she takes her job seriously and does it consistently, if not spectacularly. That doesn’t make her either unprofessional or a troll.

  25. KJ says:

I’m hopping on the K-Stew defense bandwagon with almost everyone else in the comments. There have never been legitimate reports of Kristen Stewart being legitimately unprofessional. She shows up on time, she works hard, she gets praise from her co-workers, and then she goes on with her life. Could she be less whiny? Sure. Her only real behavioral quirk that bothers me is her penchant to bemoan her success and her lack of privacy, and taken at face value, without the eye rolling or general disgust that 90% of 19 year olds possess about life, she’s not wrong to complain. She doesn’t have very much privacy and for normal people, that kind of fervent attention has got to be overwhelming.

Apparently, the definition of “unprofessional” here is based on how whiney someone is in interviews and not on anecdotal evidence of being unprofessional or difficult to work with. If she really were so “unprofessional,” I’m positive we would hear about it from set sources. Practically everything about her life gets reported to some extent or another, so how come we’ve never heard of her pissing off cast and crew with her trollish behavior? Because it doesn’t happen? I’m gonna go with that.

  26. Kaiser says:

Cheyenne – Why is this a comparison to Linnocent? Why can’t Kristen be awful, standing alone? I think Linnocent is a terrible person, as I’ve said time and time again. To compare LL and KS is apples and oranges.

  27. KJ says:

And no, if Kristen was smart, she would NOT play with the rumors of her portraying Casey Anthony. Aileen Wournos had not recently been acquitted of murdering her daughter when Charlize Theron played her in Monster. Not even close. She was a drug addled prostitute who killed her johns, most of whom were abusive, and had been in jail for a number of years before that movie was even shot. That’s a very bad example to use. This acquittal is fresh. Like only a week old fresh. Kristen would be STUPID to entertain the idea. It would look uncaring and heartless, because she would seem more concerned with expanding her acting repetoire than being a human being with an ounce of compassion. To me, positioning yourself to play a person who right now is the most hated, vile woman on earth would be stupid. Hell, even Vivid video distanced themselves from Casey Anthony. If a porn company known for their lack of scrupples got severe backlash from that, do you really think its a good idea for the lead in Twilight, a tween phenomenon, to play Casey Anthony? She was right to distance herself.

  28. gabs says:

I agree with geekchic, if she had said she was interested in the role you would have slammed her for that too. It was a horrible rumor that I wouldnt like going around if i was an actress.

I thought she was great in Adventureland. Do you just bash her because shes in twilight and it sucks? You know, Rpattz and Taylor are also horrible actors in twilight but no one ever complains about them. I think they are worse than kristen to be honest. The whole script sucks though. Or do you bash her because you have a crush on rpattz? I just dont get it. I like that she isnt the standard bubbly perky disney actress. She may be awkward and “lipbiting” but seems like a normal person and not a famewhore. I dont get the “ungrateful” vibe you get. We never hear stories about her being a bitch or diva on a set. She keeps getting work. It only bugs me when she complains about privacy and papparazzi but she seems to have calmed down about it and grown up.

  29. Cheyenne says:

@Kaiser: Lohan is a waste of space any way you cut it. But I can’t see why Stewart is “awful”. Unless for some reason, she just rubs you the wrong way. Some people have that effect on other people. I can take her or leave her but she seems okay to me.

As to her acting abilities, I thought she was marginally better in “Eclipse” than she was in the first two “Twilight” movies but so far I haven’t seen her in anything else. So based on the three “Twilight” movies, as an actor I’d give her a C-plus.
    _______________________________________________________

@gabs”: I have this list of Crappy Movies I Can’t Stop Watching”. The “Twilight” movies and “Avatar” occupy a prominent spot.

  30. Cheyenne says:

I don’t think there is going to be any movie about Casey Anthony any time soon, if at all. Feelings are just too raw about this woman. Any film made about her at this point would be a multi-million-dollar bomb.

  31. Cindy says:

I think the problem with the Aileen Wuornos comparison is that as a convicted (not acquitted) murderer, Wuornos could not benefit financially from a movie about her crime. In fact, I’m not sure, but wasn’t she already dead of lethal injection by then?

There is a possibility that Casey or her family could profit from a movie, which according to polls, petitions and boycotts, most people don’t want to see happen.

  32. Camille says:

I’m with those defending KStew, especially @KJ’s first comment.

  33. melikesit says:

I get why K-Stew would be creeped out by the comparisons and I get why she wouldn’t want to touch a role like that. Her doing a project about Anthony now or even with the next couple years while Anthony/her family could profit would be a far cry from Theron playing Aileen a decade plus removed from her crimes and while she’s actually sitting on death row.

But that’s where my defense of her ends. Getting why she wouldn’t want to be associated with Anthony at all doesn’t change my opinion that she is otherwise whiny, bordering on ungrateful at times and untalented in every role she plays.

  34. Chris says:

Kristen Stewart rolls eyes, bites lip at suggestions that she rolls eyes, bites lip.

  35. lily says:

I’m on the band wagon in defending Kristen. She is not like the lump together young “actresses” and wannabes in Hollywood. Being shy and awkward is what endear her to me and many others. It’s too bad people are making fun of the way she dress and how uncomfortable she seems in public even though she is in the film industry. Why label someone lesbian when they don’t dress a certain way. I hate wearing dress and heels. I like to be comfortable when I’m out and about. I can identify with her and glad she does not kowtow to the pressure of acting “normal” i.e. smile, pose, “flirty”. Let her be and target er, say, Selena Gomez. Now that one is an example of the young who is trying too hard to be popular and to be like by the public. She is really reaching hard to be known as an it girl. NOT.

  36. Susan says:

Shame they are trying to get Willie Nelson jail time for smoking weed, but this complete self obsessed idiotic who*e gets to walk scott free!!! Shame on the US justice system. She should be strung up and have duct tape put over her nose and mouth, and once she has finally succumbed someone should lovingly place a heart sticker over her mouth and toss her in the woods for the animals to consume!!!

  37. Leticia says:

    @Susan, totally agree with u

@John Wayne Live, agree with u, too.

10 years ago, any jury in this country would have connected the dots and found Casey Anthony guilty…

  38. Cherry Rose says:

I don’t hate on Kristen because of how she dresses (I usually prefer comfort over style) or that she likes to keep her private life private.

However, I do have a problem with her calling her fans retards, comparing being papped as akin to being raped, and her lack of any real acting talent.

However, even I don’t blame her for wanting nothing to do with a Casey Anthony role.

  39. jemshoes says:

Twilight franchise aside (YES, please!), I’m interested to see what roles both Rob and Kristen will pick up and whether or not either of them will shake off their Twilight roles / typecasting.

As for what / how Kaiser writes about some celebrities, well, I figure we’re all just guests on this blog. We’re allowed to comment, but it’s not our blog. I don’t always agree with Kaiser or CB, either. And when I’m on the fence about a celebrity like Kristen, I do lean more towards giving her chance – but points of view like Kaiser’s can be helpful if I don’t want to feel manipulated by someone’s PR machine / team. “Troll” in this post is used as loosely as “bitch” / “bitches” and “CU-Next-Tuesday” in other posts but most people will agree that Kristen does need to grow up a little and act more professional for the media – whether or not they’re fans.

  40. Dingles says:

    Well said, GeekChic.

  41. ElleGin says:

She is NOT a good actress.

  42. Micki says:

I wouldn’t want to glorify someone like Casey Anthony and moreover while the woman still lives but I agree with Kaiser that Kristen should try to take different roles that allow her to show depth.
I took pains to watch both Welcome to the Rileys and Runaways because so many on the blog said she’s good there.
Admitedly she fitted part of the characters, which mirrored her naturel but I found the films somehow “flat”.
There was something missing and I cannot put my finger on it.
While I think she’s trying I also think she needs to work on her range and expression tools because in each and every film I’ve seen I’ve seen KStew and not her character.

  43. Carolyn says:

If anyone was to make a movie about this abhorrent woman all involved would indeed be crucified (as others have noted). Kristen and anyone worth their movie-making salt would run a mile from this. No justice for the little girl at all. I hope good judgment will prevail and that no media outlet will pay Casey anything for telling her story. Surely to God no-one is interested in her side. PS I think Kristen is too one-dimensional and was very lucky to have landed Twilight. Emily Browning auditioned and was close to getting the Bella role -she would have been fantastic!

  44. Kim says:

Thats funny because me and my people just want Kristin to stop. haha

  45. Lane says:

It´s not like she could play the part anyway. Emotionless is certainly a quality of Casey, but so is crazy. I doubt Kstew would be able to portay that. It would be another version of KStew being a moody teenager like she is in all her movies (yes, ESPECIALLY those outside of Twilight). This chick has zero range, just let her play herself for the rest of her life and be done with it.

  46. antipodean says:

wow what a mixed reaction from everyone, you would think this is a done deal. It just shows you what gossip mongers can do to a person, don’t get me wrong I am not a fan of the child (and that is all she is), but do credit her with some integrity. No-one in their right mind would want to portray that pond life, what are these movie making people thinking, clearly not about public opinion. Why glorify a child killer any child killer for that matter?

  47. kikay says:

I’m on Kristen Stewart side here to be gross out by the thought of playing that pond scum Casey “baby killer”Anthony. So if any of you haters want that scum to happen in a t.v movie why don’t you play her youself i’m sure you can do her some justice, yes i’m talking to you Kaiser.

  48. Jessica says:

I can appreciate that perhaps Kristen and her publicist don’t like her being suggested for this role (and the reasons why.)

But I am sure they were quite happy to see all the polls boosting her profile lwhen it was SWATH. Asking everyone to vote about how excited they were for her to take on this role. It was all of FEB no one could escape it.

But if you can’t take it, don’t dish it out. I don’t think those polls were accidental back then. And the extent to which she is getting her picture taken lately, this isn’t a non-Hollywood girl. Quite the opposite. That’s fine, it’s a choice. JUST OWN IT.

  49. Pavolini says:

She isn’t awkward, she’s arrogant. She isn’t private, she calls the paps all the time, that’s how they know where and when she’ll be someplace. Or do her fans believe the press just happen to hang out at EVERY airport in EVERY country on the off chance that she will show up there? She has a terrible attitude, generally acting like an entitled prima donna.

  50. pickles. says:

lol @ kristen having acting ability. What are her acting ranges, one dimensional and dead behind the eyes?
