Kate Hudson gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Saturday

Oh noes! Kate Hudson wanted a girl so badly!! Kate’s rep is confirming that Kate Hudson gave birth to a healthy baby boy last night, in LA. Is anyone else surprised that she was due so soon? I thought she had another couple of months left. I’m also surprised that she didn’t gain more weight – when she was pregnant with Ryder, I remember how she got very heavy (and cute, I liked seeing her like that). Anyway, she and Matt Bellamy haven’t released the name yet.

Kate Hudson and fiance Matt Bellamy have a brand-new muse: Their first baby together! The Oscar-nominated actress, 32, gave birth to a “healthy baby boy” in Los Angeles on Saturday night, her rep confirms to Us Weekly.

The little guy joins big brother Ryder, Hudson’s 7-year-old son with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. Us Weekly was first to break news of Hudson’s second pregnancy in January 2011. She and the Muse frontman Bellamy, 33, debuted their romance in late spring 2010; they reportedly met years ago in Australia.

“He’s lovely,” Hudson (whose mom is actress Goldie Hawn) told Elle UK back in September. After confirming her pregnancy in late January, she admitted that life was a little more chaotic with another baby on board. “I babble a lot. I forget words. And how to put sentences together,” Hudson laughs. “I just give up.”

“This is a totally different pregnancy, completely,” Hudson said in April. “It couldn’t be more opposite…With Ryder, I didn’t even have a nursery. I didn’t really have a house until I was seven months pregnant.”

Nabbing a Grammy in L.A. in February, British rocker Bellamy couldn’t help but give his love a shout-out, thanking his “beautiful pregnant girlfriend,” who watched proudly in the audience. Hudson initially poo-pood talk of getting married again. “I don’t feel it necessary to get married,” she said on British chat show The Graham Norton Show. “I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.”

She clearly changed her mind — debuting a huge engagement ring (worth an estimated $200,000) and announcing her engagement to millions of viewers on The Today Show April 27. “I haven’t really announced it, I was waiting for someone to notice,” the Something Borrowed actress told Matt Lauer.

Famous pals like Courteney Cox, Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe feted the mom-to-be at a casual, family-friendly baby shower held June 5 at a private home in Malibu.

Time will tell if Hudson and Bellamy will add another to their brood — but Hudson is ready to sign up! “I love being pregnant,” she told Marie Claire last month. “Gosh, I could be pregnant all the time.”

For now, Hudson, Bellamy and the baby are expected to spend time together at Bellamy’s home in London while he records a new album, according to one source. “She’s crazy about him…Kate and Matt are so adorable together.” Adds another insider, “she’s a great mom.”

[From Us Weekly]

Congratulations to Kate and Matt! Do you think they’ll end getting married, or will they just be “engaged” until one day they’re over? It’s hard to tell… Kate doesn’t seem to care either way, but Matt has surprised me with how thrilled he is to be with Kate, so maybe he’ll be the one to force the marriage issue. In any case, I’m happy for them and I’m glad mother and child are healthy and happy.

I am not surprised she had the baby I thought she looked full term

Glad the baby is healthy even if she did want a girl lol maybe next time

  2. the original bellaluna says:

    Congrats!

So, if they met years ago in Australia does that mean they met while she was filming the craptastic Fool’s Gold?

  3. Baylor says:

So, she had another boy huh? After she went on and on about how different this pregnancy was and she was sure it was going to be a girl?! Oh well! She should be happy none the less.

  4. brin says:

    Congrats to them.

  5. Cheyenne says:

Congrats to the family, and another boy isn’t too bad. They can recycle the baby clothes and toys.

  6. Boo says:

That’s nice…all good wishes for her and the baby.

I have to say, though, that people who gush about how much they love being pregnant just seem like liars to me. Pregnancy has some truly wonderful moments, yes, but…damn. Hey, maybe being nauseated, bloated, constipated, out of breath, hot, and horribly uncomfortable (and in a constant state of “I gotta pee!”) works for some women–or maybe they get some cosmic pass on those delightful symptoms?

  7. bluhare says:

Glad they’re both doing well, otherwise, big whoop.

  8. gabs says:

Congrats! They are cute together. Hey, the same day as Victoria Beckham! haha

  9. mimi says:

Don’t worry Kate. You still got time to have that baby- girl, and what really matter is a healthy baby and mother.

I always thought she was the coolest of them all.
    Congrats!

  10. the original bellaluna says:

And Posh & Becks had their little girl this morning. (No name news yet.)

  11. larissa85@live.nl says:

    @Boo:
I LOVED being pregnant, bloated , nauseated, stretch marks and ALL. If u could not overcome the downs of pregnancy it doesn´t mean other people can´t!
    Congrats to the family!!!!!!

  12. Boo says:

I “overcame the downs of pregnancy” just fine, thank you. My three babies were born happy and healthy. And I’m so thrilled that you loved every miserable thing about being pregnant. You are such an inspiration! I’ll bet saying that you loved every minute of it makes you a better mother. I wish I could be like you!

  13. the original bellaluna says:

@ Boo – I not only had morning sickness (all damn day long!) I had vertigo. I literally crawled around the house for the first 3 months of my last pregnancy. With my oldest, I was GREAT! Only barfed 3 times (once was in labour, when I told them not to give me drugs and leave me alone). With my second and third, I was sick as a dog and twice as beat-down for the entire 9 months. I hear ya, GF!

  14. Lucky Charm says:

@ Boo: I loved being pregnant and enjoyed every minute. Not every woman experiences nausea or total discomfort. Congratulations on the new baby boy, and best wishes to the happy family. Maybe next year she can get to work trying for a little girl! 🙂

  15. Camille says:

Yeah I don’t see them making it down the aisle, but who knows right?

Although I have to wonder which musician will be the father to Kates next baby?

    Anyway, congrats to them.

@Boo: I hear you girl and I totally agree! You are not alone. Guess we can be ‘horrible mothers’ together then 😉 😆 .

    @ Camille

re: who will be father of next baby
Sadly when you consider her relationship history, this sounds so true! She seems to love children and having a family but I don’t see Matt lasting long either. I think she was desparate for another child after Ryder and felt she should be in a realtionship to have one. I am afraid that Matt was a man of convenience for wanna-be mom Kate. Hope I’m wrong.

  17. Leticia says:

    @Camille, good one!

  18. Susan says:

I loved every minute of my pregnancy, well except when I was taking the 5 shots of insulin a day or pricking my finger 12 times a day to test my blood, or the twice a week non stress tests and echo-cardiogram I had to have done on my baby girl’s heart (I am not an overweight person either, just diabetic and didn’t know I was until my first OB apt.). I also loved every minute of the labor where I was in the agony of contractions and when she was born with the cord around her neck and had to be revived. Being a mother is the best thing in the world, but people shouldn’t compare experiences and think they are a better mother because they had such a “glorious” pregnancy. Get over yourself Kate Hudson. I bet her next kid is with Chris Martin…

  19. PrettyTarheel says:

    @Boo-
Ok, I got the cosmic pass on the morning sickness, constipation, etc, and I’m cold all the time, so I just felt comfortable pregnant. I loved being pregnant-I glowed, I felt great, and at 40 weeks, I was still working full time. My labor was a total breeze. My son sleeps through the night (thank you Babywise). My only complaint was the crazy birthing classes.
All that being said…I’m scared to have another one-I’m afraid my cosmic pass will be revoked, and I will have a miserable pregnancy filled with every complaint I’ve heard voiced. So while I loved being pregnant, I recognize that it’s a rare phenomenon that should be appreciated.

  20. elizabeth says:

    @ Susan

RU being cheeky? I think so. Glad every thing turned out alright for you and your baby – it sounds very scary.

  21. Mr. Greek says:

Man, this chick has a marshmallow face. Let’s see…baby daddy one is a skank, as is baby daddy two. At least she’s consistent. I also wonder if she’s as personally unhygenic as her mother, who is an infamous legend in tinseltown for not using Ivory soap. Tis true.

All this baby talk makes me want to watch “It’s Alive!” On DVD.

  22. Rog says:

    Congratulations, Kate!

I hope your newborn son has as much style and spunk as you and Goldie have gifted the rest of us for all of these years!

  23. Isa says:

I had relatively easy pregnancies, but I don’t like being pregnant. And the night before last I found a stretch mark on my belly. Grrr. 33 weeks in 100+ degree weather I’m ready for this to be over with.

I think pregnancy is a lot easier when you don’t have to work. But some women do have it easier- no morning sickness, constipation, heartburn or indigestion.

I don’t understand how she could have let it be a surprise! I was DYING to know. I’m so impatient.

  24. TG says:

@Boo – you are not alone I hated being pregnant too. I didn’t have any problems just couldn’t sleep at night. Had restless leg syndrome all the time during the night and had a 10 minute walk then an hour or more commute on metro and bus and that was pure torture because there were no bathrooms. I will never do that again. However as soon as my little one came out I wanted 10 more kids!

  25. Melissa says:

I’ve heard about 10%-15% of women love being pregnant, 10-15% hate it, and all the rest are somewhere in the middle. I hated feeling nauseated and absolutely exhausted in the 1st trimester, and the end is certainly uncomfortable, but I did feel bad that my husband will never know the feeling of a baby moving around inside of him like I got to, so I guess I’m one of those who fall somewhere in the middle!

  26. Melissa says:

Ugh- which one of them is dressed worse in those photos of them together?

  27. the original bellaluna says:

@ Isa – OMG, I had such bad heartburn with my daughter, my esophagus was actually burned by the stomach acid. It was GLORIOUS!

@ TG – Just wait until they’re teenagers. Or insist on doing everything “by MYSELF” – it will take an eternity to get out of the house.

Both my older babies were not “known” until their birth. I didn’t want to know.

There are so few true surprises in life! 😀

  28. i.want.shoes says:

That seemed like a short pregnancy… Is Selma Blair still pregnant?

  29. Cherry says:

Does anyone else wonder whether Kate’s mad at Posh Beckham for stealing her baby-delivering thunder? Seriously look at the amount of comments on this article compared to the one about baby Beckham, people obviously don’t give a crap about Kate’s baby now that they have another Beckham to talk about. Or am I being too harsh now? I mean, having a kid is wonderful and all, but I suspect someone like Kate, who never made a decent film again after ‘Almost famous’ could use the publicity…

I mean, I’m sure that’s not WHY she got pregnant, but it’s a nice little side-effect, you know? See also: Alba, Jessica.

  30. Muser says:

OMG BABY BELLS! I have been waiting for youuu XD haha. I’m such an over-excited Muse fan.
@Susan Chris Martin, for your information, is married. And i don’t think he’s letting go of Gwyneth Paltrow and their 2 kids.

Anyways, it was funny that she was all, ‘Oh it’s going to be a girl and i can feel it!’ when she was pregnant. Too bad for her, Baby Bells is magically a boy 😛

Congrats to the happy couple with their new bundle of joy! Hopefully, Matthew will name their baby…not Kate 😀

  31. Quest says:

    Congrats!

  32. Susan says:

@ Muser…..Chris already boned Bosworth (she is just smart enought o use condoms)…Hudson doesn’t use protection….Chris would stray in a nano second…

  33. Sheigh says:

After Ryder, what do you think about Scooter or Biker for baby name ?

  34. Wow, marvelous blog layout! How lengthy have you ever been blogging for? you made running a blog look easy. The full glance of your web site is great, as neatly as the content!

  35. Sharon Jirasek says:

LOL! That look on the last photo is just priceless!!!!! (great, I just realized someone already said that….I am such a copycat…) anyhow, I LOVE catching those expressions that you just know they are going to be throwing down later on in life…

  36. Undeniably consider that that you stated. Your favourite reason seemed to be on the web the simplest thing to have in mind of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed even as other people consider issues that they just do not realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and outlined out the entire thing without having side effect , folks can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thank you
