Brad Pitt “rescues” a woman from being trampled in Scotland

Brad Pitt is going to be filming World War Z for the rest of his life, I think. How long has this film shoot lasted? I guess it’s a complicated sci-fi/action/drama, but seriously. Anyway, Brad has been filming in Scotland for a few weeks now, with Glasgow supposedly standing in for Philadelphia (in what world?). Late last week, Brad was on the Glasgow set with hundreds of extras, filming a zombie invasion scene, when he “rescued” a woman. Sorry for the quotes – he actually did help a woman who had fallen, but the reports about the incident make it sound like Brad gave this woman a kidney or something:

Lately he’s been busy battling zombies, but on Thursday Brad Pitt stepped into the role of real-life rescuer.

The actor, 47, was shooting his new movie World War Z in Glasgow, Scotland, where more than 700 extras were packed into George Square to film chaotic scenes of a terrifying zombie invasion. But the terror turned real when a female extra slipped amid the trampling crowd.

“I don’t think she could believe it when Brad picked her up,” a set insider told The Scottish Sun. “He didn’t have time to speak to her as it was mid-shoot. But she said afterwards how grateful she was, despite having a badly-grazed knee.”

When he hasn’t been busy shooting, Pitt has been enjoying the Scottish countryside with partner Angelina Jolie and their six kids, who are staying in a rented country estate that includes a 16th-century mansion.

The family is expected to remain in Scotland until Pitt wraps filming on World War Z in the next few weeks.

[From People]

So the woman stumbled and Brad picked her up. It was a lovely thing to do, and trust me, when you’re a clumsy bitch (*raises hand*) it’s nice when a dude is around to help you up. But enough with the “Brad saved someone’s life” stories. I guess it’s better than “Brad is obviously boning extra, she only fell because he whipped it out, of course” stories though.

Brad’s lover, Angelina Jolie, spent Friday at The Hague, where she watched the prosecution’s closing in the war crimes trial of a Congolese warlord accused of recruiting children to be soldiers in the Congolese civil war There’s video of Angelina speaking to the AP outside of the courtroom, where she says in part, “I’m not attending particularly as a UN Ambassador. I’m attending just as a concerned citizen of the world who cares about children. I was speaking with many of the men here today who were in fact child soldiers and they say it’s hard for them to even imagine that they’re still asking the international community to enforce this ban. It seems like something we shouldn’t be asking for. It seems so obvious that it is so inhumane. It is so unfair.” You can see photos of Angelina here.

That’s the way the media always reacts. If it was a negative story, they go all the way negative and if it’s something positive, they take the other extreme and call it heroic.

However I did read somewhere that it was crowd of hundreds of extras pretending to run in fear so this woman could have easily been trampled in the rush of it all.

I doubt Brad tried to make a big deal out of his act of kindness.

It’s great to know Angelina showed up for the trial. In 2008 or maybe it was 2009, the Jolie Pitt foundation sponsored a forum for the Council on Foreign Relations (Angelina is a member) so that one of the prosecutors from the International Criminal Court could come and discuss the cases he was working on.

I love a man who is not afraid to show his age. Give me this Brad over any pretty boy Brad.

I admire my girl AJ so much. You keep on doing what you are doing.

Now I am out before the crazies come out lol

  3. Ruby Red Lips says:

I wish Brad would come and rescue me!!! Yum!

    Love Angie…my girl crush 4ever 😀

Two things I absolutely LOVE about the video of Angelina:

    1) The “Oh, God, here we go” face when the camera first trains on her;

    2) What she has to say about the children forced into prostitution, being human shields, and being forced to be “mini-warriors” for various assorted warlords. It is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and appalling to me.

  5. Flan says:

Both of them are good people.

Wish more celebrities spend their money like they do, in these times. They already get tax-cuts enough.

  6. lisa says:

Some people are screaming that he didn’t really do anything…OK so it was not a Superman moment. but I was thinking about when I was at the day after Thanksgiving sales at the mall. I saw someone fall and they were almost trampled..Even on a movie set people can get hurt.

So leave my Brad alone.. he did a good deed.

regarding Angie she has been talking about this for years. I just saw a video of an interview she did while promoting A Mighty Heart.. she was talking about the International court even then.. that that was a place she was trying to focus some of her energy. She was there in 2009 at the first trial I think.

I love that she follows through on these things. And I applaud her in helping to provide legal assistance for children that come to the USA without an adult or lawyer to speak up for them.

I’m not much for pretty boys, but Brad has gotten even better with age. I get such a good vibe from him, and I don’t from most people, let alone celebrities. He’s a mega-star, and he took time for common courtesy and to be a gentleman. To quote Dennis Lehane, honor is a dying breed, and IMO, Brad is a honorable man.

  8. crys737 says:

I live in Philadelphia and I cant imagine why they would go through the trouble of shooting out there when theres a perfectly authentic Philly here. Plus I wouldn’t mind getting a glimpse of Brad…

  9. Duh says:

He’s not cute and I’m sure it’s his pr team spreading this non news.

  10. lisa says:

    @duh
Nope he is not “cute” that’s a term best used for babies and boys.

Brad is a HANDSOME ass man.. see.. now you know.

and since this is such a Non story why waste your time commenting.

  11. Mrs. Odie 2 says:

You know Brad whipped out his penis and was all, “GRAB ON! I’LL PULL YOU TO SAFETY!”

  12. Sue says:

Duh @ Or it could have been the 500 and so fans or what not that stand out and watch them film in Glasgow since they started filming there.

In Saying that I too think it’s a non story put fact is people who live there and been twitting about stuff they saw, if they meet him or whatever and could be how the media got a hold of the story.

  13. smh says:

it hasn’t been that long really. i remember salt took months to shoot and the tourist took a while also. it’s just the fact that when it comes to the JP couple’s movies, every day becomes a story for the tabloids.

  14. Cheyenne says:

@Duh: No, he’s not cute. He’s 47 years old. Boys are cute. He’s a grown man.

@Mrs Odie 2: And if it was you, you’d hang on for dear life.

  15. pwal says:

Doubtful that Brad’s people spread this – more like derivative journalism. Since Gwyneth Paltrow ‘saved’ someone from 9/11, or Kate Winslett, saving Richard Branson’s mother from a house fire, why not write a ‘Brad Pitt saves an extra from an on-set stampede’ story. Though not as newsworthy as some papers and bloggers have hoped, I still like knowing that he would help someone in potential danger.

Better this than him pulling a George Costanza and shoving the woman down so he could get to safety.

  16. Scout says:

@ Jenn – in total agreement!!!!! Thank you!

  17. Amanda says:

It’s nice what he did but I still really don’t like Brad Pitt.

  18. CHRISTIAN_GIRL says:

It is nice that he cared instead of only wanting people to wait on him.

Surprised he would even notice with all the extras screaming and running in the videos. He was not the only person (or man) present. It is a good gesture that I can not find fault in no matter what I think of him personnaly. He seems to have good values and motives.

What reason would his non existant PR people have for this story? TOL has already won 2 major awards with talk of Brad’s nomination, MB comes out late next month (with more awards talk for BP), WWZ comes out late next year with possibly more awards talk, AJ movie has awards talk for when it comes out in December. So, here we are in August and that would make for bad PR as timing is everything. Be serious.

  19. When Brad returns to the States,I’m going to ride my horse to their house and… fall off.(Save me Brad!!)

  20. lisa says:

Neither Brad nor Angie have a PR person. I would bet if they did that person would be screaming it from the roof top. To represent these two.. shit that would be a career builder.

and why in the world would it matter if he picked a woman up. Do people actually think voters vote because of that, or that they saw pictures of the children walking, playing or going somewhere. Believe it or not everyone in the world does not visit or read gossip. I can honestly say I can name dozens of my friends that have never bought a tabloid or visited a gossip site. The internet is a big place, but the people that visit gossip sites visit several. And those people don’t make up the majority of the world.

Each of them are HUGE MEGA stars.. funny thing. I saw this article and it made me laugh

Hollywood star Brad Pitt expected to film in Billericay on Monday

    10:51am Saturday 27th August 2011

A-LIST actor Brad Pitt is expected to arrive in the Billericay area on bank holiday Monday to shoot scenes for a forthcoming film.

It is thought the star of films such as Fight Club and Legends of the Fall will travel to Essex to shoot scenes for post-apocalyptic zombie movie World War Z.

He is expected to film scenes just outside the town, although the exact location is currently unknown.

That is what happens whenever they are anywhere. I saw similar articles and such when they were in Malta too. The word goes out for any information. And just like some of us are on sites, trust that the paps are eared up on the same things. This person even listed a number to call if there was a sighting.

Brad and Angie don’t need PR people. Regular people advertise their moves and projects. I’m sure some celebrities must be pissed with the amount of money they are spending to get only 1/10th the attention and media coverage.

  21. Just watched Angie’s interview.Damn,I love this woman.

  22. Camille says:

    Good for Brad and Angie.

I love that AJ calls herself a ‘citizen of the world’. Love that 😀 .

    @HorsePoor Hanna: IKR.

  23. Adriana says:

Too handsome! Hes really a brave man indeed. I love to be that kind of man. You did it Brat.

  24. sandy#1 says:

brad is a gentleman, a handsome one at that, he is not trying to be sexy man of the year, he is a great catch by most mature women standards. when you mature, priorities changes, ( with most people any way)

  25. ladyanne says:

The world needs more people like them.

  26. sauvage says:

I’m not a big fan of Angelina Jolie as an actress, but I have to say, she really uses her fame for good, important causes. And that I respect very much.

  27. Eve says:

She looks lovely in those pictures. Yeah, her legs are really skinny but that face! That face only comes once every generation. And I can’t say enough about her profile, most perfect profile I’ve ever seen.

Thanks for the video too. She makes valid points, but you know…people will show up here and try to spin that to make her look bad.

Love her. Brad Pitt is one lucky bastard.

  28. Justaposter says:

My Mom is currently in Scotland having a wonderful vacay and 2 weeks from wher they are shooting!!.. I asked her to please bring be back Brad Pitt for my European souvenir!

  29. Sakyiwaa says:

Lol-ing at a number of the comments…horsepoor hanna, lisa & Duh, mrs. Odie 2, Cheyenne’s comeback to mrs. Odie… LMAO! Love Brad and Angie. @Eve. Oh boy, i hope Brad wins you over with his marmoset face in no time 😉 *wink*

  30. Sakyiwaa says:

Without overanalyzing this new trend of celebrity heroism, i have to say: Falling down in public is soo embarassing! In my country, nobody likes to help a person who tripped and fell. You are expected to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going like nothing happened. Lol! Oh yeah, and maybe, you ‘ll get one mumbled ‘sorry’…

  31. Eve says:

    @ Sakyiwaa:

I don’t think that will ever happen…there’s the fact I’m not fond of his acting too, you know.

And it may seem like the opposite, but I DO try to cut him some slack (because of my muse, The Jolie). The reason why I try to stand him is “by association”

P.S.: Marmosets here (the real ones, not Pitt) are really, really cute…when they jump from mango tree to mango tree, or come down to steal the food left on the table (I was at a hotel once that had many of them “visiting” us). I’m just NOT sexually attracted to them nor I want to see them in leading roles in movies.

  32. Ell says:

Maybe Angelina’s taking on too much, she doesn’t look very well in that video, she needs to slow down a little, take some time for herself.

  33. theaPie says:

They both seem like genuinely caring humanitarians which is refreshing, especially in the world of Hollywood where egos abound, and everything is about ME ME ME.

LOL @ Mrs. Odie2. Girl, you crack me up! 😀

  34. Sakyiwaa says:

@Eve. Lol! I know… I was just playing… You like Gabriel Byrne and… Tahar Rahim, right?!
    Lovely marmoset anecdote, btw. 🙂

  35. Janet says:

Brad didn’t film today there are pics of him taking kids to movies.

  36. Eve says:

    @ Sakyiwaa:

Tahar Rahim is my eternal crush. My other two immaginary husbands are Jesse Eisenberg and Chris Evans.

I still love Gabriel Byrne (since I was a teen), but he’s not among the top ten (By the way, The Jolie is: there are 9 guys and her).

  37. tulyask says:

I like Brad Pitt.He is very work herd for your performance.Everyone should work herd to build up his/her career.
“the best way to manage your career”

  38. Its like you read my thoughts! You seem to understand a lot about this, like you wrote the ebook in it or something. I believe that you just can do with some percent to pressure the message home a bit, however other than that, this is excellent blog. An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.

  39. I do not even know how I ended up right here, however I thought this post was great. I do not recognize who you’re however certainly you are going to a well-known blogger when you aren’t already. Cheers!
