Britney Spears in black Moschino: busted, boring or adorable?

wenn3485612

Hate the peep-toe ankle booties, but I like everything else. I think for where she is in her life, and how little expectations there are for her, Britney Spears had a pretty good show last night. The dress was Moschino, and although I wasn’t in love with it, I liked it on Britney. It covered her up the right amount, and it was still rock n’ roll and a little bit sexy. Her busted weave was having a good night too – it looked clean and fluffy, and Britney’s makeup was nice too. The only thing I really have to say is that I wish she had just worn normal heels rather than these booties, which cut off her legs and make them look “thicker”.

I did want to point out a few weird Britney-related things, though. First, the dance tribute to Britney was well-executed, but it was also kind of sad, right? It was just like… “she’s not that girl any more.” And even when she was that girl, she was never really dancing like that. Then, when Britney got up to take her first award – for Best Pop Video – I noticed how weird her voice sounded. Maybe I just haven’t paid attention, but she doesn’t have that girlish voice anymore, does she? Her speaking voice sounded weird – husky and mature, mom-ish.

But the weirdest thing was when Britney got up to take her Video Vanguard Award, and instead of talking about the award and really thanking people throughout her career, she and Gaga just introduced Beyonce. Did anyone else find that strange? It was Britney’s moment, and they just used her as an intro to Bey? Weird. As for Gaga and Britney, I was rooting for them to NOT kiss, so I was glad when Britney pulled away.

Here’s the Britney tribute – it was kind of cool (and sad).

Yeah, I’m glad to see she’s doing well. I agree that she looks good except for those awful booties.

  2. Matt says:

For the love of god Britney, burn those hideous boots.

  3. LOVE ANGELINA says:

I loved Britney’s dress and I think she looked super cute. I like the shoes.

Everyone thought it was weird that Britney didn’t make a speech. Nobody liked that. I personally feel Brit didn’t wanna make a speech because if she wanted to she could have. I also feel like the tribute was to damn short but the girls dancing it were amazing. I didn’t like the Amy Winehouse tribute either. So MTV ballsed that up.

  4. KLO says:

Like the dress, hate the boots.

  5. dorothy says:

Bless her heart..she really needs a stylist in a bad way.

  6. skilo says:

I hate all peep toe boots/booties they are just wrong. Brit looked good. I only wish good things for her future.

  7. girlwithapearl says:

Tyra says she can’t see your neck!! Where’s your neck, Brit?!

  8. IAmSam says:

Are they or aren’t they engaged? She keeps wearing that ring on her left hand, and if you ask me that looks slightly more significant than a simple cocktail ring…

  9. Krissy says:

Is it a dress or is it a romper? They look like fug shorts to me

  10. Original Bee says:

It was nice to see Britney looking happy again. Her eyes usually look so dead and sad. Hopefully, she’s in a good place now.

  11. anon1 says:

Britney looked great. She looked coherent and happy. Hair was clean, clothes were appropriate…A win for Britney. I’m not really a fan, but I was happy to see her looking so healthy and happy.

  12. Caity says:

Huge britney fan, i was really disappointed with the tribute – 2 mins to cover her 14 year career??
and yeah britney’s speaking voice has sounded weird like that pretty much since her breakdown. maybe it’s the drugs??
and sadly i also think the drugs have rendered her incapable of being anything but a robot.
Britney at her best shits all over the current crop of stars

  13. Waldemar says:

She actually looks like Britney, so that is always a winner.

And I loved that she didn’t kiss Sir Gaga.

  14. Jayna says:

She looked very happy and pretty.

  15. Sue says:

The outfit if boring, ugly and the shoes are fug.

If Britney didn’t make a speech when she was there in person how are we supposed to believe that she gives all the magazine interviews , more like someone wrote them for her.

  16. velourazure says:

she seemed a little medicated to me… and how rigged are these “awards” that britney is still winning? she is so not relevent.

  17. the original bellaluna says:

Her ass looks great! And I hate, Hate. HATE! Peep-toe boots.

(But I think we all know that by now.)

  18. TXCinderella says:

    Boots = Aweful
Dress = Too short, too tight
    Complexion = Very nice

  19. katy says:

those shoes doesnt look good here.

  20. Mag says:

I’m really glad she looks so happy. I was confused that she didn’t give a speech, but I wonder if at this point Britney doesn’t want to attract any more media attention than she already does. If she gave a speech, people would be talking about it and analyzing it the next day. The MVA tribute was cool, but also sad. Who wants to get a lifetime achievement award at only 29 years old?

  21. Mag says:

    (double post, sorry)

  22. CG says:

I thought it was weird too that she didn’t make a speech and just introduced Beyonce instead. She also sounded really drugged-out when she talked. And that “tribute” with the 8-year-old girls in the “I’m a Slave 4 U” get-ups was weird. I thought they were going to do a big blow-out tribute with Katy Perry, Gaga and Madonna (and some other big names, can’t remember who else) singing Britney’s songs? I didn’t see the entire show, so did they do that and I just missed it?

  23. Darlene says:

Her butt looks great. She’s in amazing shape.

  24. fabchick says:

Finally Britney’s hair and makeup looks nice. Whoever did this needs to stay on the payroll. I love Britney so I will not comment on the dress and boots.

  25. Thea says:

Everyone gives her a hard time, but she had a very public breakdown and considering I think she has done very well. She is always a hot mess but that is part of her charm I think.

  26. Juliesunflower says:

    She looked good and HAPPY

  27. Annaloo says:

She’s like the racing dog that should be allowed to retire now. SHe’s def. given her contribution to MTV, but I almost feel like we need to leave the woman in peace.

  28. Joe's Mom says:

It was good to see Britney up there happy, healthy and winning! I’m glad she didn’t burn out, or fade away.

  29. theaPie says:

That’s not a dress, it’s a romper. And a cute one at that.

  30. Jilly Bean says:

yeah – the acceptance speech/introduction to beyonce was really weird. she kind of reminded me of someone who is newly sober and a little embarrased about their past antics. it was sad.

  31. Redd says:

Brit rocked that outfit, wished she had selected some sexy strappy shoes, but she looked great and I am happy for her!

  32. ash says:

BRit looked awesome. The boots are awful. I like the tribute. It was interesting, kind of robotic just like britney.

  33. Atticus says:

Britney looked great. Seems like she’s kind of over the VMA crowd. Seems to me like it would be me going back to college and trying to hang at a kegger. I also thought it was really weird that her moment was really just her introducing Beyonce, but maybe she didn’t want to make a big speech. During Gaga’s intro, she was tearing up so maybe she just thought it’d be better to deflect the attention. She had a great night though – and that last pic – DAMN she has a great ass!

Lady Gaga annoyed the ever living SHIT out of me with everything she did last night. Thought it was really annoying that after Britney got onstage, Gaga was oogling her and getting up on her, after Britney denied the kiss. Kind of loved when she fell over after jumping off the piano in her opening act though. Like no one saw that coming.

  34. Eryn says:

I think this is the best she’s looked in a very long time.

The tribute was horrible. I’m not really a big Britney fan, but I thought it was way too short. I get why they sped up and remixed the songs, but combined with the length, it just felt like they were rushing to get it over with.

  35. ShanKat says:

I love a good romper. She really loves those chunky boots.

The meds she’s on definitely affect her voice. I’m impressed that the smile made it into her eyes. And her hair looks pretty. Her man…is a bit of a problem. He looked better when he dressed like an agent.

  36. serena says:

Aww she looks cute and well adjusted. Glad for it.

  37. 4Real says:

I HATE peep toe booties and those are so hideous with her huge legs. She still looks like she stinks and has some “crazy” on her face.

  38. i.want.shoes says:

Fug choice of shoes but she looks amazing (for Britney). I wish my legs looked that hot!

  39. sassy says:

This is some “Weekend at Bernie’s” shit.

  40. Ruth says:

She looks.. not quite right. Like she doesnt want to be there. and the dress is awful ditto boots. She looks better though than she has recently- healthier and less messed up. Just fire the stylist. I wish she could just leave being a pop star, and just be a person. She keeps putting herself through all this

  41. apsutter says:

Ummm..she looks alright. But why the belt, the ruffled hemline and why does she always wears shoes that are that high up?! They make her calves look short and huge and I also hate that they are peep toed

  42. smh says:

she never looks happy or interested about anything career related anymore… actually there was an article somewhere saying that this was her “send off” tribute, she’s finally acknowledging that she’s done with all this, and i think it’s time people that people leave her alone… really hated some nasty things she did during 2006-2007 but right now i only feel sorry for her and also glad that her contract with jive is finally over now she can live as she wants, with her family… i hope she’ll be free to do so from now on

  43. dr.bombay says:

I think she looked great…I’m rooting for Brit all the way!

  44. Dingles says:

That tribute gave me whiplash. It was cute I guess but definitely didn’t do her career justice. Britney looked great, alert and happy.

  45. april says:

If you look at it closely it’s actually a one-piece belted outfit. Kind of like a jump suit but it’s shorts. In the 4th photo you can see it’s definitely a one piece with shorts outfit and not a skirt or dress. I think she looks gorgeous. Love the outfit and boots, espcially since I now know what it is.

  46. Camille says:

    Busted.

Also, I am so glad that other people hate those stupid peep toe boot things as much as I do!

  47. kim says:

Is no one going to talk about the small kids who came onstage and danced. It totally weird ed me out.

  48. helga says:

Brit was a much better dancer than the dancers last night, in her prime.

  49. coco says:

This girl always looks cheap to me no matter what she wears.

  50. firefly says:

This award is so OBVIOUSLY corporate.

As someone else said, Britney just isn’t relevant anymore. They should let her kick back and enjoy her $.

  51. JT says:

She is NOT wearing a dress. Obviously. It’s some horrid jumper shorts combo thing. And someone needs tell her that those terribly unflattering chunky boots are not going to happen no matter how many times she wears the damn things. Apart from the belly shirts she has never been considered an influential style icon and she clearly isn’t going to start being one now.

  52. lucy2 says:

Wow, she actually looks really good! Hate the boots though, they don’t flatter her.

I find it a little odd they did a tribute to her, and sad because it’s true, she’s not that person anymore. I have a lot of sympathy for her, but really, is/was her music THAT big a deal that it called for a tribute? It’s bubble gum pop, not much more than that. Plus, as Mag, said, she’s only 29, it’s seems premature and sad.

  53. Lindy says:

I think she looks mostly okay. All things considered. But I agree with some of the comments that she needs to retire–do something different, maybe focus on producing or writing or start a charity and get really involved with it. She just doesn’t look like she’s up for this thing anymore. Kind of a sad story if you ask me.

Also it makes me feel super old. She was hitting her heyday when I was in my late teens and early twenties, just having fun, not serious yet abot grad school or career path… And now I’m married and a mom and work work work. Ugh. She looks about how I feel right now–old and kind of tired and over it.

(Except she has eleventy kajillion bucks to spend on nannies and massages and spa treatments, so, you know…)

  54. bugsy says:

Is it a dress or are those shorts? Can’t tell from here. I’m sorry, but I think her super tight outfits make her look dumpy. I think she should try something softer, but it’s just one opinion.

  55. Val says:

Yep, some strappy sandals or some cute pumps would have elongated her legs and she would have looked even better. She looks happy. Hope it is what she is feeling inside and not just the effects of antidepressants.

  56. jemshoes says:

The booties are hideous! But Britney looks happy (and healthy) and that’s always good to see.

  57. Magsy says:

Dress–maybe, boots no way. She’s stuck in a time warp as her style hasn’t changed since she was a teenager. Even if she dressed more like her southern sister Jessica Simpson another fasion time warper, it would be an improvement.
