Christina Hendricks in leopard-print St. John: too sexy or too covered-up?

wenn3531481

Yesterday, Christina Hendricks wore this animal-print (leopard?) St. John dress to two events, the premiere of IRIS (the Cirque du Soleil film) and a luncheon benefit for the Rape Treatment Center. Is this dress capable of going from day to night on its own? Well… kind of. I think it probably works better as an evening party dress, something cute for a premiere or something, and maybe it’s a bit too sexy for a luncheon. Still, I can’t tell if it’s the dress that’s sexy or if it’s just Christina.

It’s an interesting dress on Christina because it manages to show off her hourglass figure without having her boobs spilling out – usually Christina can only manage one thing at once, and God knows, she loves for her boobs to spill out. I kind of like her in an animal print, and I like the cut of this dress – on her. Her makeup looks especially good too – because Christina often looks too garish and clown-like like she gets really made up. Also: is she wearing a wiglet? The back part of her hair looks… odd. I think she’s wearing a hairpiece, like Adele does (probably the same shade of red too).

More photos from the premiere of IRIS– Vanessa Hudgens in a boho dress. It’s cute on her, and her hair is looking better. And Cindy Crawford, whose face is looking better, IMO. The swelling and “frozen” look has eased up, and I can see some of her old, normal face again.

I’ve come to the conclusion, that Christina does not know how to dress herself and she should only wear the clothes provided to her by the stylists from Mad Men. Wearing clothes of a past era works for Dita, so it can work for her. Also, I think her shoes are really hurting her feet.

  2. tracking says:

Finally fabulous! So much sexier and lovelier without the boob spillage. The color and cut of this dress are beautiful on her, love.

  3. Cherry says:

I like this dress on Christina. She looks good- FOR HER. There’s always room for improvement, but she sure as hell looks a lot better than she usually does.

  4. Heatheradair says:

    Hmmm.

I think my main complaint about C-Hend is that she *generally* chooses hem lengths that “stumpify” her legs a bit. Kitten heels and a below-the-knee hem just bisect her in strange places. Either a taller heel or a slightly shorter skirt would go a long way….

BUT, she looks lovely otherwise. Pretty dress….

And — ever since Vanessa Hudgens cut her hair and her figure got a little….softer, I’ve sort of adored her. Love that she hasn’t run straight to the nearest salon for a bad weave….and she’s about the only person I can think of who could pull off that dress….well played, well played.

Dont like any of the outfits shown above – but at least her watermelons are covered up.

  6. ANR says:

nice dress. but what happens to her feet?

  7. saintdevil says:

I really like the cut of the dress on her but I’m not in love with the color or the print.

  8. kelbear says:

I think Hudgens is trying to be like the Olsen twins.

  9. Kimbob says:

Yes, Christina’s make-up does look good, & I agree that if she is heavy-handed w/her make-up she does look clownish. People w/fair skin have to be careful w/the make-up. And YES, it’s so nice to see her w/out her boobs all in everyone’s face. When she dresses w/her boobs all hanging out it just screams of trying too hard, & actually, for me @ least, I find the boobs-in-the-face looks kind of offensive.

Cindy looks fresh, too. Vanessa’s dress has swallowed her…not so good.

Edit: And yeah…#6..Christina’s shoes…what up w/those? Is is a “new cut/design” in shoes or what? I’m not sure if I like it.

I like this dress on her very much. I think she looks elegant and demure here. The only thing I don’t like are the shoes – too bland. A pair of strappy, rust-red heels would have given her a nice, sexy edge and provided a striking contrast to the demure nature of the dress.

Go Christina! Poor girl, when she covers up she gets told she looks too matronly, when she displays the girls in all their glory she is accused of showing them off too much and looking slutty.

  11. azurea says:

She looks great! But it’s her feet that are hurting the shoes, not the other way around. Poor girl has terribly deformed feet. She really, really needs bunion surgery.

  12. The Truth Fairy says:

Christina looks great! The only critique I could make is that the heels should be higher. Otherwise, she nailed it.

  13. melissa says:

You know what stands out for me sometimes, even more than her (near) misses with clothing? How weird she wears shoes! Her feet always look “off”. I see her in pumps on MadMen and they look ok, but on the red carpet, they just never look right. I wonder why that is.

  14. SarahS says:

I’m with @Mia135. This poor woman can’t win. I think she looks great here. If Vanessa’s low cut dress isn’t too sexy, there is no way in hell a muted animal print is too sexy.

  15. Sloane Wyatt says:

Vanessa looks great, and she’s the only one of the three that doesn’t look plastic surgery jacked up. Plastic masks and plastic boobs just don’t do it for me.

  16. Sue says:

The dress looks really good on her it could be a little shorter like to the top of her knee but other than that she looks great it’s about time.

  17. Liz says:

I saw Drive over the weekend, and she seemed completely random. I honestly had no idea why she was in the film.

  18. Liz says:

Oh, thank heavens. She’s finally wearing something I don’t feel vaguely pervy about looking at.

  19. Lindy says:

I dunno… Maybe the Kartrashians have ruined it for me permanently, but I think I am 100% over and done with all animal prints and patterns on anything other than maybe a handbag or belt. Seriously. Just can’t even stand looking at them anymore.

And I agree with Heatheradiar about the hem length issue–that was the same problem I had with the most recent Helen Mirren pics. It’s not going to work on anyone whose calves are thicker than toothpicks! (And nothing against calves with actual muscle tone and shape, like Mirren’s and Hendrick’s!)

  20. Katie says:

    Hendricks should wear higher heels.

  21. Franny says:

I don’t like that it looks like Cindy smears foundation all over her eyebrows.

  22. lambchops says:

CH looks so much better keeping her girls in. Otherwise, they look like they’re being choked to death. Joan Holloway would approve of this outfit. Men like using their imaginations anyway. Make ’em work for it.

  23. kibbles says:

She looks super cute – love her smile! This dress looks great on her. Wish I could own a version of this dress too!

  24. LeeLoo says:

I am never usually a fan of two things 1)I am not a fan of animal prints. I think they look tacky. 2) I am not a fan of Christina covering the girls up. I mean she enormous breasts, why would you cover those babies up?! Flaunt them!

    But…

She pulled off this look very well. The animal print looks decent and it isn’t trying to go for an authentic look of an animal and the colors clash with Christina’s pale skin. She covered up her breasts in a way where the are concealed but they are still there. It’s conservative but you know what type of shape she has and she’s not trying to hide them. I think she picked a good outfit for doing double duty events. Good job!

Example of why I hate animal prints: See Vanessa

  25. Happy21 says:

I think she looks really good in that dress!

  26. thinkaboutit says:

This dress would be sooo much better with a wider solid belt that would emphasize her nice waisting. Besides, those dresses with matching fabric belts look so Sears/JCPenny…Her feet look awful and yes the dress is just a smidge too long. But after all that bitching I just did, I do think she looks lovely (except the feet, that’s just atrocious).

  27. Kelly says:

I think she’s ok – I like the dress itself, but it would probably be better on a smaller, more classic bombshell type. Imagine it on one of the world’s most beautiful women, Monica Bellucci. Or on Sophia Loren back in the day.

It’s better than the pink titty-dresses, at any rate.

Does Cindy Crawford have a portrait of her twisted, gnarled visage in a closet somewhere? Does she bathe in the blood of virgins? I mean GEEZ. She must have a dermatologist living in her pool cabana or something.

  28. Anguishedcorn says:

I think this is her best look in quite a while. It looks great on her, and it fits, and her poor boobs aren’t squished to high-heaven.

  29. Original Tiffany says:

BTW, IRIS is not a film. It’s the latest Cirque Du Soliel show that is in residence at the Kodak theater for the next 10 years, 8 months a year. We wanted the transfer, but it’s film and orchestra based, so we keep on touring…

  30. Diane says:

Too sexy? Or too cover up? How about too ugly?

  31. Ally says:

Beautiful! Great shape and proportions. It’s even slimming (not that she needs it). LOVE!

  32. Jaxx says:

I don’t understand why Christina’s hair always looks AWFUL! So many people fluttering around her and they can’t find a style that suits her?

  33. ZenB!tch says:

Still wearing bad shoes but overall, I like it.

  34. B says:

I hate animal prints and tend to find them tacky, but I have to say that this is probably the best she’s ever looked.

  35. Camille says:

CH looks great, but she has terrible taste in shoes.

    Cindy C looks lovely.

  36. fallen says:

Wow! She looks great! But i think that the dress should be shorter and her feet look odd.

  37. HeyToots says:

That is totally a WIG Christina is wearing! OMG I never noticed before – now I want to study all her pics!

  38. Elizabeth says:

I think both Hendricks and Hudgens have fallen under the spell of some very ugly fabric for their dresses. Or maybe CH’s fabric is ugly and VH’s is merely offensive. CH also misses with her sloppy hair and disappearing shoes. How can a beautiful woman make herself so unattractive?

  39. K-Star says:

I think she must be sans corset because her waist looks waay thicker than usual. The dress is not bad but could use some tweaking.

  40. Nancypie says:

I love Christina H, and thi k her dress looks great. There is something wrong with her shoes – like a piece is missing or something.

  41. JaneWonderfalls says:

I like her boobs! But this outfit is horrible, Cindy Crawford looks amazing and Vannessa Hudgens looks cute but not feeling the low cut neck on her.

  42. Bec says:

You know what? She probably said to her stylist — I’m gonna be on my feet all day at not one, but 2 events and I can’t wear high heels! So find me comfortable low heels or flats. And maybe it’s not just here – maybe she hates being in uncomfortable shoes at most events – so I say good for her! She’s so gorgeous and such a star no one but us is looking at her legs or feet!
I hate to say it but that is a terrible wig. She’s gotta find someone new to style her all over. She’s too amazing for that. That wig looked better at the Emmys.

  43. bubbly says:

Love her! But the bunions are not supposed to try to peek out of the shoe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. mzfilo55 says:

Christina Looks fabulous!! I love how she carries herself, but the other two broads are hideous!!

  45. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

She’s the craziest hammer toes I’ve ever seen, so that might limit her options. Goodness knows that’s a surgery I wouldn’t want to face.
