Jessica Simpson’s “Major Movie Star” is the number one movie – in Russia

Jessica Simpson’s acting career is going a lot better than I thought. She was actually in a foreign film recently. Not too shabby, right? Not only that, but the film opened at the top of the box office. But by “foreign film” I mean her film is being shown in foreign countries. That counts, right? I’m sure that’s still the section where you’ll find Simpson’s infamous “Major Movie Star” at Blockbuster in a few weeks.

What ever happened to Jessica Simpson’s comedy, “Major Movie Star”?

The “Private Benjamin” – like film has never opened here in the United States. But on October 9th, “Major Movie Star” debuted to top box office in… Russia.

Next up for a movie described by one of its participants as “maybe one of the worsr films ever made”: a November premiere in Bulgaria.

So far there’s no U.S. release date set. Nor is there one for any other country in which English is the primary language.

No fewer than 15 producers are listed on the credits of “Major Movie Star” including Jessica’s enterprising dad, Joe. The director was Steve Miner, whose credits are mostly from television.

While Jessica’s singing career transition into country star has gone pretty well so far, her movie credits seem to be getting worse rather than better. She’d be substantially better off, frankly, having a sitcom in which she can play herself.

I think the only thing more offensive than going straight to DVD is having your film shown in a few random countries, but very specifically none that speak English. I have a feeling that instead of carding you outside of the theater, they ask if you speak English, and if the answer is yes they kick you out and light your ticket stub on fire. Okay I realize “Major Movie Star” probably isn’t R rated and wouldn’t require carding, but go with it.

It seems like Jessica has moved onto new laughably unsuccessful endeavors, a.k.a. her country music career. Hopefully they’ll be exporting that to Bulgaria too.

Here’s Jessica carrying her dog Daisy out in New York on Friday. I’m sorry but Jessica Simpson’s dog is the cutest thing in the world. If I saw Jessica on the street I would scream and run up to her like a fool, but just because I wanted to pet/steal Daisy. Images thanks to Bauer-Griffin.

    She should move over there–FOREVER

For better people I’d say something like,”at least she’s trying,” but in her case my advice would be, “Either stick to what you know, irritatingly cute pop song cliches about love written by real song writers or dumb movies NOT produced or directed by your idiot father- or retire into obscurity from whence you arose.”

Don’t be mean! Jessica Simpson is supertalented! In non english speaking country’s on the other side on the planet!

Those sunglasses are hideous. And they probably cost more than my car.

She is too stupid to be humiliated by this and probably feels this Russian opening proves all the “haters” wrong.

I’m not a fan of Jessica’s. But come on. Highly unsuccessful? I wonder where she makes all those millions then. But oh well, i guess the writers of this blog are more concerned with “high art”, which Jessica’s work is definitely not.
And yes. Other countries besides english-speaking countries DO count as countries (you know, with people and cities and such).
She’s just a singer trying to do her job. Give her a break.

Good for her – America isn’t the centre of the earth -there’s a lot of people in Russia

And all she had to do in exchange for those millions was allow herself to become the punchline of a national joke, be disdained and booed in her hometown, and at the mention of her name on a blog, have posters hurl insult after insult about her “talent”.

How anyone with even a shred of self-respect could call this “successful” is beyond me. It is more appropriate to say she will do anything for money and there is a word for people like that…and it’s not “successful”.
