I love The Stand and I kind of like the idea of Ben Affleck directing. He can be a decent actor in the right role but I think he’s a really fantastic director. Gone, Baby, Gone was one of the best movies I saw that year and I’m surprised he didn’t get more critical acclaim for it.

They already made The Stand as a mini-series back in the 90′s. It’s way too long and involved a book to condense into a two hour movie, regardless of who the director might be. You’d have to cut out all the subplots and backstories or divide it up into two parts.

Doesn’t matter who directs, you just can’t take The Stand do it justice.
It’s way too complex a story, it’s not about a flu that kills within days at all, or even the survival after.
I just wish Hollywood would let some things be.

The Stand was a great book. I read it in high school and devoured it in two days, but the plot and subplots, as RobN said, are far too many, complex and necessary to the larger storyline to eliminate.
Glad to see Scarlett branching out into new, artistic territory. (side eye)

No hair/face in this world would match that horrendous outfit. It seems like she picked the worst fur, the worst jeans and the worst boots that ever existed. She would look better if her hair had a lighter brown tone though.
