Sarah Jessica Parker in acid trip Vera Wang: fabulous or hideous?

These are new photos of Sarah Jessica Parker in Australia today (yesterday? Tomorrow?), in support of I Don’t Know How She Does It, the film that bombed in America and maybe made a little money in Europe. The event was basically a photo call and press conference rolled into one, and SJP wore this acid yellow-green Vera Wang dress which I have mixed feelings about. On one side, I kind of think it’s hideous and the color is unflattering, and it looks like an acid-trip road kill situation on the bodice of the dress. On the other side, I kind of think it’s an interesting dress, and I probably would have liked it more on someone else.

During the press conference, SJP was in her standard shilling mode, telling the journalists that she thinks IDKHSDI “speaks to the experience of millions and millions of other women”, and is ”a really accurate portrait of modern parenthood…[in these] specific economic times.” A story about a wealthy, working, married woman with a husband who works too, a nanny and a house full of children… in NYC? That’s what everybody else is going through too? SJP corrected herself: “I’m very cognizant of the fact that most working women in the world don’t have the financial resources I have. The majority of working mothers are very much in it alone and it is a heroic endeavor every day.”

SJP was also asked about her shoe love – she was asked if she had any tips for sore feet, and she replied, “I think I’ve just destroyed my feet. I don’t think I have any feeling any more. The heel is not your friend, really.” As she wears six-inch-high Monolos.

it could maybe be just a little bit shorter – just a little bit – but other than that – I love it!

  2. retyah says:

Dont like the yellow shade of the dress. I also think she can make anything look hideous, so thats not helping this dress at all.

  3. Calli Pygian says:

Kind of meh oh her, but the dress is kind of cool. She should have lost the 1970’s beads & replaced them with a cool long-hook pair of earrings.

  4. carrie says:

i like the dress but not the cord doing the belt and the necklace is too much

  5. Nev says:

she looks great…I miss Carrie Bradshaw.serious. Anyways, what I love about sjp is that she always looks like herself…not anyone else.not cookie-cutter.she takes risks and has fun with fashion.

  6. spinner says:

Oh my…she is just not an attractive woman. She is a clothes horse to distract from her lack of physical beauty.

  7. Jb says:

    Love it. She looks amazing.

  8. Audrey says:

I really like the dress and she can pull it off. That said, there’s something not 100% right about it. Perhaps the size of the beads on the necklace. Gold chains might have worked better?

  9. Kellie says:

poor thing. She is so hideous. I cant believe people are still interested in her at all.
Those tiny little piggy eyes get me every time.

  10. ladybert62 says:

The dress is hideous; the necklace is hideous; the shoes are hideous.

  11. gee says:

She looks excellent. I love it.

  12. Flea says:

    Ok. So that’s dress exists.

  13. MacScore says:

She looks hideous, and the plastic-looking beads ruin it. she always looks and sounds as if she is trying too hard. When I think back to her in the mid-80s – tiny, bad hair, untalented, dreadful dresser…. perfect example of fake fake fake all the way… to the bank.

  14. F5 says:

    White shoes!??
    SJP you’re dead to me!

  15. sharylmj says:

hate the necklace, love the dress on her!!

  16. Heatheradair says:

I think if it had a boatneck (or something wider and less constricted) and she lost the plastic necklace, this could be quite chic. And if she’d pulled just a little bit of that fried hair back out of the way……

it’s not TERRIBLE, but it could have been MUCH closer to fantastic.

  17. Lynnie says:

    G’ah! THAT HAIR! 🙁

  18. photo jojo says:

    I dunno… I kinda like it. Oddly.

  19. Cheyenne says:

Lose the beads. Love the dress. But good Lord, the poor thing looks like the north end of a southbound horse.

  20. trinigirl says:

I like it without the chain

  21. SamGirl says:

Kaiser, I couldn’t manage to read the post beyond the first line. Still laughing my ass off about “in Australia today (yesterday? Tomorrow?)” You are awesome! Ok, let me go read the rest now.

  22. G says:

A lttle shorter. Punchier shoes and no necklace, please.

  23. Eve says:

I kinda like it…especially the bottom part.

EDIT: scratch that. Love everything. Would totally wear it (with different shoes and no necklace, of course).

  24. Samigirl says:

I think the dress is kind of neat, but it’s too young for her. It would look better on a 20something. Those white shoes aren’t helping the situation.

  25. jermsmom says:

Love her. No, she isn’t the standard for beautiful but I still think she looks awesome and love her style. That being said…did she get a boob job? She looks really busty in that dress!

  26. Kelly says:

I like the dress without the beads; I don’t really care for her portrayal of women, though….

  27. Shelly says:

Love the necklace, don’t like the material of the dress. But she can pretty much get away with wearing most anything. I’ve seen way worse on other people.

  28. TXCinderella says:

Oh wow, I just, um no. Tie dye anything is not good.

  29. Lara says:

Don’t care about her dress. The movie was horrendous, plain awful. Even worse than Sex and the City 2. Her sole screen presence becomes more and more annoying and just unwatchable. This is coming from a devoted SATC fan. As far as I am concerned, her main occupation is still an actress, not a fashionista.

  30. anonymoose says:

Her skin looks pretty good, radiant, healthy. Hair not too bad here. I would not have chosen that dress, but since she did, She should have pink shoes on, or any color but the ones she is wearing (which are too pointy, too). Butt he most glaring thing is that necklace! GACK. no no no, a thousand times no.

  31. Elleh says:

The dress is hideous and made worse by the aqua 80’s necklace and Payless white pumps.

  32. DeE says:

All those heels have done a number on her feet; well I don’t know what her toes look like, but those veins are bloody unhappy.

  33. UKHels says:

the dress is not that offensive but the shoes are and girlfriend really needs to invest in some stockings

  34. gab says:

    Hideous from head to toe.
    Help me jeebus.

  35. Denise says:

Ouch….SJP is looking a little rough. I am her age and I can longer stand heels; all of my shoes and boots are no higher than 1 inch. I just can’t stand walking in heels at my age.

  36. tracy9s says:

Just because it has a designer label does not make it fabulous. That dress is fugly. The necklace is just a slap in the face in case you didn’t notice how fugly the dress is. I won’t even get started on the hideous shoes. I hate it all in case you can’t tell!

  37. Elena says:

I’ve seen far worse on her. This one’s good, actually.

  38. snark says:

    Hiddy. That is all.

  39. Ranga says:

On TV the yellow wasn’t so ugly as in this picture.

  40. JaneWonderfalls says:

I like this outfit. It’s unique and she actually looks nice. Her hair, makeup, everything works 🙂

  41. gg says:

The fabric is Cool! The dress however, looks dumpy, especially with those dippy beads and nonmatching shoes. 😛

  42. Az says:

So she’s still letting Patricia Fields pick out her clothes?

  43. Neva says:

Never noticed those huge boobs on her…

  44. yes please says:

    @ f5 lol lol
