Angelina Jolie mystified by the tabloid obsession with her life: “I’m the most boring!”

As we previewed yesterday, Angelina Jolie will appear in a pre-taped interview with Anderson Cooper for his talk show on Monday. In the coverage I did yesterday, Angelina was talking about her family’s nomadic lifestyle, and how she hates to “settle” and the whole thing inspired a very interesting conversation about Brangelina and how they’re raising the kids. As you know, I like Jolie. But I think this is one of her flaws – she acts as if she would be so disappointed in her children if one of them actually wanted to stay in one place for a year and put down some roots. Anyway, AC’s people sent us a lengthy transcript of Jolie and Cooper’s conversation, and here are some of the highlights:

Jolie on her Thanksgiving: “It was good, we actually Brad and I decided we were actually going to make the turkey and we were very successful and very proud of ourselves. We did it! I’ve tried on and off but this was just the two of us with the kids watching trying to pretend we knew exactly what we were doing.”

Family dinners: “We actually have family dinner every night. We make a point of it. It’s crazy. There’s a good five minutes were everybody is quiet and sitting together and then it starts to break off into different…No, no and no blackberries for mom and dad.”

More on always traveling: “We do, we’re a big traveling. Now we are starting to get them where they each have their own luggage and they unpack their own clothes and pack their own because it was just getting to confusing for me to figure out but it’s great, it’s so much fun. Fortunately, my kids love to travel because I do and they’re very worldly and what I love is that they can be in New York in a hotel in Manhattan and think it’s so cool and then I can bring them to the middle of Kenya and drop them in a tent with no TV and no nothing and they’re just as happy as so I feel like that’s what we are trying to do to balance them.”

Explaining to the kids about war and refugees: “They do, and they’ve come with me to some. You know I try not to be one of those mothers that says, ‘Some people around the world don’t have,’ I try not to do that, but I try by example to bring them to places and hopefully they’ll make friends with people in different countries, coming from different backgrounds, dealing with different situations and they’ll understand that actually is what the world looks like, not this small world of just the place we live in our house. This is not reality, reality is all of these things. So they know and they are very good about you know, ‘Mommy has to go, mommy’s going to try to do some good and this thing is going on. So, I’ll be right back.’ They seem to be very generous about it and understanding that they’re kids and they want their mom but they also know that there are other kids that mom can try to help.”

Angelina on reading the reviews of ‘Blood & Honey’: “Well I have to read some things on this because I need to understand how people are receiving it if there is something more I need to explain in case it is being misunderstood. This is the first time I had to and it’s terrifying but I’ve avoided everything on myself.”

She doesn’t read any of the tabloids: “Which is so funny because I’m the most boring. I’m not totally boring but we do often say that because we don’t go out clubbing, we’re not big into fashion, we do a lot of dealing with kids and stuff.”

If Brad retires at the age of 50: “I’m happy for it. No, we were both racing to see which one of us gets to retire first. We both, like most people, we like being home. Whoever is the one whose home tends to be the happier one because we get to play with the kids and the other one is out earning the money… He was with the kids taking them to school in the morning then he’d come to the set in the afternoon and do stills photography. He was my stills photographer.

[Via Anderson Cooper’s show transcript]

La Jolie is “boring”??? NEVER. Okay, sometimes she is boring, but just when I think that, she says something that I find innocuous and everybody FREAKS OUT.

I’m also including some video clips below… Anderson and Angelina are seriously adorable together. Coop looks at her like… “If I was ever going to try a vadge, it would be yours.” And Angelina is all, “Oh, Silver Fox, BEHAVE!”

I like her and the silver fox together … I like it when she gets silly and fun… Wish she would do another interview with Ellen, they had crazy chemistry together

  2. lisa says:

She is not doing anything other than normal stuff. and yes the obsession is insane. Especially when you consider every thing she says is put under a microscope and analysed to death.

Anyway she was super cute in the video clips. Great laugh and smile. LOVE IT. can’t wait til Monday. I may sneak a peek at work..

  3. LeeLoo says:

I really find Angie to be the most human out of all the celebrities.

I always thought of Angie as being a tall person but after looking at these photos I think she looks short.

I sooooo want Anderson to be my gay best friend and for us to have crazy fun shopping trips together. I like Anderson’s style.

    • Bite me says:

Someone on this board was at the taping and apparently she’s tall

    • Theuth says:

I’ve seen her in two occasion, she’s about 5’5”/6”. Very lanky, so she looks taller, and her proportions are off when she doesn’t wear heels.

      • deltona lakes says:

although I’ve never met Angelina in person she seems taller than 5’5″ or 5’6″. When she’s standing next to other women in photos she’s much taller so these women must be all 5’2″ or shorter. Also, in a photo with GOOP they were almost the same height and it didn’t appear as though Angie was 4″ inches shorter. GOOP is listed as 5’9 or 5’10”

      • jane16 says:

I’ve met her several times and stood visiting with her. We were both wearing flats. I am 5’8″, and she is a tiny bit shorter than me, 5’7″ maybe 5’6 1/2″. She seems smaller because she is delicate and thin. She is a very nice and friendly person and has spoken with me about kids and homeschooling mostly.

btw, I’m guessing 90% of actors/actresses lie about their height. Most are surprisingly smaller in real life than on the screen. Also, most seem to have smallish bone structures, often with large heads. Photography does strange things with proportion, doesn’t it?

      • Theuth says:

@deltona: I don’t trust the listed height of actors/actress because most of the time they are lying. I have seen some famous people at the Venice festival – in a couple of cases, on movie sets – and was surprised the first times on how smaller they were in contrast to their “official” height. With Angelina Jolie I’m almost sure: I’ve saw her the first time when she came with Pitt – for Jesse James – and then when filming The Tourist (this time was accidental, LOL) and she definitely is shorter than 5’8”. She’s very small boned, so she give the impression of being a lot taller, and her arms are very long for her frame. Oh, and I was surprised how beautiful she is – seriously, photos don’t give her enough justice.

    • Bermuda Blues says:

My brother (who is pretty tall at 6′ 1″) saw her and Brad in NY, they were both taping appearances in his building and he shared an elevator with Angelina. He said she was tall, nearly at his eye level, but she was wearing heels. He thinks without heels she’s around 5′ 7″ or 5’8″

      I trust his judgment!

      • Annie says:

No offense to your brother, but he must suck at parallel parking or possibly he sucks at recognizing hidden platform heels. Pitt is listed at 5’11” and when you see pix of the two of them together on the RC when she’s in heels, her eyes only come up to his mouth. Which would make her maybe 5’8″ or 5’9″ in heels.

And chances are, because they all do it, Pitt is probably lying about his official height by an inch or two.

      • Bermuda Blues says:

Okay just because you say “No Offense” doesn’t mean you should follow it up with a personal jab. My brother doesn’t parallel park very often because he doesn’t need a car in New York, not that his driving skills are relevant whatsoever.

I trust his judgment much more than I trust your speculation based on things you read somewhere on the internet and linked by tenuous assumptions.

      • deltona lakes says:

I trust what your brother says. I think she’s 5’7″ . Most people who have met her seem to say the same thing. I have never heard her being described as 5’5″.

      • Annie says:

Please, life would be more fun minus the stick. That was a joke. Some people have poor 3 dimensional visualisation skills (I’m notorious). They generally do poorly in geometry and crystallography. Oh well… It’s not the end of the world.

Regardless, Kung Fu Panda 2 in Cannes. 2 – 21/2 inch heels, standing next to Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman. Both listed at 5’6″, both wearing sneakers. Take her shoes off and she is at best the same height, probably a bit shorter. That’s kind of hard to argue with, it’s easy enough to find pix. And as noted before, even with heels she’s several inches shorter than a 5’11” Pitt.

      • Julia says:

I agree with you for various reasons.

Jolie is credited as being 5’8”; I think she is 5’7” / 5’8” with same kind of slim lanky frame as late singer Aaliyah who was the same height.

She is often taller than women around her even in random pictures where she has flat shoes on, like during some of ner UN missions. Her father(6’4”) and brother (6’1”) are very tall.

Also, she was clicked at the very prestigious and serious Ford Model Agency at 15, so I am sure that at the time she was at the very least 5’6”

      • Annie says:

You know, not all people who model are tall. I’ve stood next to Laetitia Casta in the supermarket, I was in flip flops, she was in flats. I’m 5’8″. She was about 3 inches shorter than me, even though her “official” height is 5’6 1/2″.

      • Julia says:

        @Annie

Leaticia Casta and Kate Moss are exceptionally short for being topmodels and yet, because of that their height were known and BOTH reached 5’7”.

Leaticia is 171 cm and I too have seen her several yimes in Paris (I am 5’8′) which is definitely 5’7” and a half while Kate is 170 cm which is 5’7”.

So it confirms what i think about Jolie being around the same height or a little bit taller around 5’8” but not 5’9” like Mariah Carey and definitely not 5’10” like Paltrow

      • Annie says:

There is no way that Casta is 171cm, even her I.M.D.B page gives her 2cm less. I was looking down far more than an inch at her. In fact I had a minute of wondering if it was really her due to the height. And she was well past the age to have still been growing.

    • Emma says:

I’ve seen Angie’s height listed as 5’7″ and 5’8″ tall. I tend to think that the 5’8″ height is probably correct.

@Annie …. Did you take into account that most ‘dress’ shoes for men have a 1 – 2″ heel?

      • Annie says:

Emma: take a look at pix of her next to Hoffman and Black who are both wearing sneakers. She’s wearing minimum 2 inch heels, probably a bit more. The sneakers have a bit of a sole. Barefoot, they would be about the same height, she might be a bit less. Both of the men claim to be 5’6″. Hoffman may have shunk with age. The men also may have added an inch or two, most of HW seems to feel that’s necessary for some reason.

  4. Cherry says:

Yeah, I heard her say that before, that she’s boring. I don’t agree, but then, I don’t think she does, either. It’s just a figure of speech. And a bit of a pose, of course, so that we all start screaming how cool and sophisticated and beautiful and OBVIOUSLY NOT BORING The Jolie is.

    • bibi says:

What she realy meant was, im not a lohan, spears, or hilton. of course shes not boring, but shes also not THAT interesting like lohan, kardashian for the trashmagazines.

  5. heatheradair says:

Er, hooked on the blackberry, but can’t figure out Amazon? That’s a strange inconsistency……..

  6. lin234 says:

Wow, this has got to be one of the best interviews with her. They’ve got great chemistry in a platonic way. lol

  7. lala says:

She is BORING. Every damn interview it’s the same.Sell the family, or the image of the family women want to hear.

    • lisa says:

really. then maybe you should ask the people interviewing her to come up with better questions. She is answering what is asked. Thing is she is asked the same things over and over.. How many different ways can she answer the same questions..

But yeah blame her for answering them.

      • Kobi says:

Like all A list celebs Angie would have final approval of the questions that are asked. Dont pretend she doesnt have veto over her interviews.

    • Emma says:

@Kobi, who wrote: “Like all A list celebs Angie would have final approval of the questions that are asked. Dont pretend she doesnt have veto over her interviews.”

She may request that certain questions not be asked in the interview, but that doesn’t always stop the interviewer from asking the question anyway. You’re kidding yourself if you think the Jolie-Pitts have that much power and control. Anderson Cooper has been known to be quite bold and confrontational in his interviews. I don’t see him, or Ellen, or Oprah bending over for anybody, even Angelina Jolie.

I saw John Kennedy Junior on Oprah the year before he, his wife, and her sister died when he crashed his plane in the Ocean. Oprah asked him what it was like, how he’d felt, and what he remembered when he saluted his father’s casket at the age of 3. Then he averted his eyes when they put a picture of 3-year-old John, standing on the steps saluting his Dad’s flag-draped casket. He politely told her that he would prefer not to talk about that event (and the look on his face fairly scream “Damn, I thought we agreed not to talk about any of that”). She asked him the same question three times throughout their interview, and he finally answered, though he wasn’t happy doing so.

In Brad’s 2005 televised interview with Diane Sawyer (Diane had already interviewed Jen during her ‘pity me’ rounds). She actually asked him–on the air–if he was crazy to be with a woman who wore a vial of blood around her neck, and she asked in a very aggressive and demeaning tone of voice, making it perfectly clear to all of us, particularly Brad, how she felt about Angelina. Brad was speechless, and you could tell by the look on his face that he was both shocked and hurt by her remark about the woman he loved.

Daniel Craig was asked in a televised interview if he thought the new Bond format was similar to the Bourne films. Daniel glared at him for about 5 seconds before he answered the question, but it was obvious that he’d asked the idiot not to bring up the Bond/Bourne thing.

My point is that, unless you’re President George W. Bush, who ordered CNN and other news agencies not to show film of the thousands of people marching in various cities in protest of the upcoming Iraqi war (we had to see it all through the eyes of the foreign press and, if we were luck, C-SPAN), then you just don’t have that kind of pull. CNN wants ratings more than it wants Angelina Jolie’s good opinion.

  8. Aria says:

    She is the best. Period!

  9. Susan says:

Does anyone here actually believe that they have suppers together every night? This is so not true. But if she wants us to think so.

And what is with the racing to retire. They are so weathly they could both retire right now. If they want to retire – do it nothing is stoping them. It is not like they need the money.

And the whole turkey thing. I just cannot even go there. And she drops her kids in a tent in Kenya? Really? For how long? I think it is more like a five star hotel. I just hate how she plays the public like fools. Do people actually believe this stuff she comes up with.

I loved how yesterday kaiser said that Anderson can get her to open up about her family. Let me tell you she opens up about her family to every magazine, interview. etc. There is nothing private with this woman.

    • teri says:

I have nothing that indicates that they don’t eat dinner together. I think it’s really great that they think it’s important.

    • mln76 says:

Susan I hate to sound harsh but how in the hell do you know what they do at dinnertime? It can’t be disputed that they spend ALOT of time together. That they travel constantly together and that they aren’t apart for more than a couple of days so logically speaking yeah I bet they try to have dinner together too.

      • Susan says:

Well for example – both of them when they are on location frequently work long hours which I know they do not get supper breaks off. Brad worked in England a helicopter flight away and came in late. There were photos of him alot. Angie goes on UN missions frequently and is gone for several days. They frequently are at awards and film premieres. Like how many in the past two weeks alone? She she came home for supper when she was directing? Think they actually sit down and eat together all the time? Um no. But as the gulible fans you are you eat it up like a pig in mud because this is the vision you want of the family. That is why she says it. Personally there is nothing wrong with saying they are busy and have difficulty getting time together. But oh no she has to maintain the “I am perfect” routine. We have the perfect family, we are the perfect parents, etc. Sad – there is nothing wrong with saying I am not perfect.

    • Kara Ann says:

I agree with you about the “racing to retire” line. They’ve both used it before (repeatedly?) and I’ll believe it when I see it.

I agree too that getting AJ to “open up” about her family isn’t difficult. Same for Brad. That’s not said to criticize them at all because that’s pretty much what alot of “movie stars” talk about. It just doesn’t seem valid to me to say that Anderson (or any other reporter) has to work at getting AJ to “open up” about her family.

  10. dorothy says:

    I agree, she’s boring and over-exposed.

    • whatevs says:

she was very much overexposed around 2007 (when preggers with the twins) i admit even i got sick of her then. and i admire her. she’s not so overexposed anymore, she and pitt keep mostly low key unless they have a movie out.

  11. Victoria says:

she is so great. she’s perfectly imperfect.

  12. mln76 says:

I think she just had an unusual upbringing and is inherently different than your average person so there is just a huge chasm between her and Suzie Homemaker in Anywhere USA. People judge her for the weird things she did when she was young and have a tendency to believe most of the tab stories without actually thinking it through.

    • Camille says:

      Excellent comment mln76, I agree.

    • seri says:

Right on. I had a HORRIBLE attitude when I was a teenager, and I did stupid things for attention and acted like a dang fool. I shudder now thinking of it. I would hate people to judge me continuously well into my 30s for how I acted then.
All of us here… all of us have acted stupid, acted in ways we don’t want other people to knwo about or to remember. Jesus, please leave this woman’s past alone.
      “When I was a child, I spake as a child…” and all that. :/

    • Susan says:

Agree with you about people believing tabloid stories. But then that goes for all stars. For example the tabloids about Tom Cruise are crazy and people believe them. Same goes for Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck (about how he gambles and has affairs). They all get the same treatment. Angelina is no different then the rest..

  13. olivia says:

After trying to “balance the races”, she’s now trying to balance lifestyles?

And I thought StuPitt said she’s a great organizer, and packs things so well, but here she is admitting to being confused with the packing?

My kids are very worldly….I swear she doesn’t know how full of herself she sounds.

  14. Whatsoever says:

It is true, this really is like Angie’s official fan site, CeleBITCHY just for all others : /

    • Kobi says:

      So true.
If you say anything that is even slighty anti Angie the Loons are all over you like flies on s**t.

      • Runs with Scissors says:

It seems fitting that you made yourself the “shit” in this scenario, lol.

      • Eve says:

        @ Runs with Scissors:

        LMAO!

      • blonde on the dock says:

And Runs with Scissors just proved your point!

      • Shay Kay says:

This really is a pro Angelina website and it really does make for some major p*ssing matches if you dare to criticize but that said I like the way the site is updated regularly, I love that everybody gets their say, and I don’t have a problem being in the minority.

      • Runs with Scissors says:

@Eve, lol, I think when people knowingly try to smear someone for no good reason, it’s pretty clear, even to themselves on a subconscious level.

It doesn’t surprise me that Kobi would inadvertently call herself a “shit” by saying that anyone who disagrees with her is a “loon.”

Also not surprising: the knee-jerk (and puzzlingly illogical) reaction of the “blond” hair-twirling try-hards who hate anyone who is successful and well respected without stooping to being a “blond” hair-twirling try-hard.

    • Original Chloe says:

Uhm.. wasn’t Kaiser’s previous post on La Jolie actually critical?

As far as “Loons being all over you” – people here react immediately to hate speech, hypocrisy and name-calling, because that’s not the norm on CB. The commenters are quick to point out “fake concern” for AJ or petty criticism of her children’s looks that some of more hateful commenters go for, because it’s just low and uncalled for.

On the other hand, I’ve read a lot of civilised discussions regarding her lifestyle, for example (just check the previous post), with criticism coming from both “sides”

Actually, there were several critical posts on AJ (by Kaiser) – on her fashion choices, her weight, her “dream to cross the Sahara”, her work pattern and many many more that for some reason you fail to take into account.

(Or are you just disappointed that people continue to like Jolie, and I could have spared myself a lengthy reply?)

      • Masa says:

I love angie but this “norm” of CB? Pah-leaze…just look at any post of LL and you will see the norm. I like this website coz of the current events updating but the comments are often very mean. But hey, that is why its called celeBITCHY and i dont mind it

      • teri says:

People still continue to like Angelina even with a few who try to change our mind.

      • Jesse says:

Uhm… I believe you just proved @kobi point.

  15. Ari says:

Every time I see her talk and look as beautiful as she does on this particular show – I just sigh with happiness. She makes me feel so good just listening to her talk. I really don’t understand how anyone can think so badly about her as a person when she does so much. I really hold her up there with like Princess Diana who is the only celebrity I cried about when she passed. Angie is a truly wonderful lady. *stops gushing

  16. Kyle says:

I will not argue with her she is boring as hell. Overrated and overexposed too.

  17. whatevs says:

she’s gorgeous of course but good grief woman eat a sammich or two it’ll make you look great(er) and why is it that even when she wears very elegant glamorous things she looks slightly frumpy in them? is it the constantly little combed hair? actually no because she did look a wee bit frumpy in that ceremony where her hair was done to perfection, but she wore her evening gown backwards.

  18. WTF says:

Does any one else find it scary how the haters over analyze everything Angelina says? Man, you haters are a miserable bunch. I for one LOVED the interview. Angelina looked very beautiful. Compared to all of the fictionalized “drama” the tabloids print every week. Yes, Angelina is boring…but in a good way.

    • Kobi says:

      Please.
Fans and Haters over analyze everything any public figure says.
Lets not pretend to only happens to Angie.

  19. Nanz says:

Funniest. Thing. Ever. Love this post.

  20. Eve says:

    *sigh*…love her.

Coop looks at her like… “If I was ever going to try a vadge, it would be yours.”

    Me too, Coop. Me too.

  21. lisa says:

Love how the none fans seem to read and know so much.. Can’t stay away from her can you.

PERFECT.. really so NO Angie you are not boring.. because the people that don’t like you make sure to post about you.

Overrated.. yeah only to the trolls.

    • blonde on the dock says:

Oh you mean something like you with Aniston? Sorry not a hater but I just can’t help myself with the hypocrisy on here.

      • Victoria says:

First off, sorry for the double post.

Second, there is no hypocrisy. I don’t like Anniston, but every site is filled with her hypocritical dumb ass fans and while I enjoy making them look the the idiots they are it is nice to often hang with like minded people. So to me it’s a balance, because you can’t say anything nice about Angie AND be fan of Chinny on those sites or they will rip you to shreds. I have not liked Chin since she lost unnecessary weight on Friends and tried and tried pass it off as her getting healthy. Bitch please. So Angie had nothing to do with the fact that I couldn’t stand her fake always plays Rachel ass. Her misinforming the public and PR team’s shenannies AFTER Jolie made me dislike her even more.

Third Tapioca what bothers you more, that Angie is rich or that she she did go from all kinds of crazy to less than deranged and got her life on track and people find her life story interesting? People change all the time in life and when they do, they should be lauded regardless of what you thought of them.

Bitches stay pressed over this woman. You know who deserves this more? Beyonce. Talk about walking contradictions, lying, greed, and unethical. A much better target.

  22. Bite me says:

OT: is anyone else having problem with the mobile version of those site

  23. hstl1 says:

I love that she says they aren’t into fashion. Although her “not fashion” is still probably much nicer than my “not fashion”.

  24. Victoria says:

This is one of maybe five sites that are Pro-Angie. Everywhere else I go people blame this chick for everything because they like the non-mother effing factor who will remain nameless. It wasn’t until I got here that I saw there was lovefest for Angie and even I have admitted that I don’t think professionally she is all that. But yes, I like her as the person she appears to be. It’s seems for the most part genuine as does Brad.

And I like that she’s turned her life around for the better and is doing positive things. Which is more than can be said for the lot of us who probably post on here.

    • whatevs says:

i like this site and justjared for being angie-friendly

    • Tapioca says:

“she’s turned her life around for the better.”

Do you mean that 360° turn from “rich kid in Hollywood” to “rich adult in Hollywood”?

Or the hardcore drugs/knives/mental illness BS from her “Bad Girl” days in the gated community that there is absolutely no evidence of? Seriously, how much would the tabloids pay for a “I DP-d Angelina Jolie with a Puerto Rican rent boy whilst covered in our own blood and high on heroin” story, and yet mysteriously there have been none!

      • Bite me says:

Jolie was not a rich kid

      • Freya says:

        She did a 180, not 360!

      • Emma says:

“Do you mean that 360° turn from “rich kid in Hollywood” to “rich adult in Hollywood”?”

Where have you been? When John Voight left his family, he took his money with him.

      • Tapioca says:

        @Emma:

So I missed the part where AJ worked for years in menial jobs whilst building up an acting portfolio then?

She has always been comfortably off, started modeling and acting early and Daddy’s Hollywood connections are a big part of where she is today. Funny how they were never estranged until she’d fully established her career!

  25. Bermuda Blues says:

Um, there is a support group for all you Angelina Haters out there.

It’s called the Tabloids and they publish new hateful stories every Wednesday! So get on that train if you hate her so much. Let the rest of us enjoy one of the few sources that treats Angelina as a human being, rather than a blood lusting demon wh-re.

  26. Josette says:

I call BS! Her lifestyle has to be exhausting..toting 6 kids around the world on a constant basis can’t be a walk in the park. I think her and Brad’s relationship fizzled a long time ago and all the kids and jetsetting is attempt to keep things interesting.

    • Jesse says:

Sshhh. Your going to get in trouble. You can’t voice a negative opinion of AJ round these parts. The fans dont like it. they are going to call you nasty names, and try to bully you. (all things that AJ would not approve of.)

      • Josette says:

I don’t have anything against her. I actually like her. I’m just not buying the whole “life with Brad and the kids hopping all over the place is bliss” crap. I think Brad is way more into her than she is into him. Let’s face it, Jolie makes.Brad interesting…he’s a pretty face and a mediocre actor at best. She’s the wow factor in that relationship.

  27. Sasha says:

She’s stunningly beautiful and has a brain. That combination alone = can never be boring.

  28. Julie says:

Not a huge fan of AJ but am of AC….if he likes her that much, I may try harder myself. I love him and trust the boys judgement.

  29. Esmom says:

Leave it AC to draw AJ out in an appealing way. He’s so dreamy…and he’s already take as my (fantasy) gay husband!

After yesterday’s post about their nomadic lifestyle, I initially started thinking that they should settle down as the kids grow older. But settling down would probably be in LA, and how could they possibly have anything resembling a normal life there?

They can never, ever live a typical American lifestyle, even if they wanted to, because of who they are. So maybe embracing this unconventional life of travel is the best they can do under the circumstances.

    • Kara Ann says:

I don’t follow everything about these two so I wonder if you have a theory as to why that would settle in L.A.? I wasn’t aware that they’ve spent an inordinate amount of time there. I thought (and correct me if I’m wrong) that they have spent more substantial periods of time in New Orleans and France. Wouldn’t settling there make more sense? Especially because of the paparazzi problem in L.A. I mean they say they want to retire so when the kids are a little older wouldn’t it make sense for them to both retire and then live wherever with a better chance to be paparazzi free?
      Your thoughts?

  30. Nibbi says:

dammit! *how* is she so beautiful?? HOW does she get that skin?? she never looks ‘toxed, and she absolutely glows.

    • Annie says:

Nibbi, when you laugh like she is in one of those pix, your forehead doesn’t move and your eyes don’t crinkle, you are definitely botoxed. Especially when she has some of that in earlier pix.

However, she no longer has those “rabbit wrinkles” on her nose when she smiles, so her doctor has developed a surer hand for her face.

      • deltona lakes says:

You and I must didnt look at the same videos posted above because her forehead did wrinkle everytime she raised her brows.
        She’s just drop dead gorgeous!!

    • Emma says:

@Deltona … Annie didn’t ‘watch’ the videos, she’s just being judgmental. She’s actually talking about the ‘freeze frame’ picture on the TV screens.

      • Annie says:

Emma, I think you are the one being judgemental. You are clearly assuming that someone using botox is a bad thing. I never said that, nor did I imply it. The constant defensiveness about the fact that she’s a human being just like the rest of us is a bit mystifying.

Jolie is no more immune to the effects of time than anyone else. Nor is she immune to the HW dictat concerning women having to stay looking young as long as possible because somehow age is an issue.

      • Emma says:

@Anne … I don’t begrudge anyone making a decision about their own bodies. What I find ‘wrong’ is you projecting your assumption that Angie using Botox based upon a still frame, not the actual videos, without knowing for sure if she actually ‘does’ use Botox. Her face moves and reflects her emotions beautifully, and she has forehead furrows and facial crease lines there as well. If I’m not mistaken, Botox is used to ‘relax muscles in order to smooth out’ forehead furrows and facial crease lines, right?

    • Jaxx says:

She does have gorgeous skin. I don’t know exactly how botox works but I did definitely see long wrinkles across her forehead and wrinkles between her eyebrows when she made certain expressions. Nothing is frozen like Nicole Kidman’s face. But as to how radiant and clear her skin is, wow! I’d like to know what she is doing.

And as for the being boring comment, I think she is referring to some earlier comments she made about loving to stay home with the kids in her pj’s and color all day or stuff like that. Not the most interesting thing to do but very satisfying to her. She likes to stay home when she’s home and just hang out with her kids.

I love her so I do not think she is a bit boring.

  31. Reel Wheel says:

I respect a number of the things this woman has done over the years, but am not blind to her being a walking series contradictions at times. Sorry, but the “boring” comment is nothing but false modesty… AJ might be a lot of different things, but never ever “boring”…

  32. Lindy says:

The obsession is insane. And she is, indeed, terribly dull. I wish she would go away, live her dull life, do the occasional movie, and otherwise stop feeding the tabloids and obsessive fans.

    • Freya says:

Why would you wish that? Just live your own life and leave other people to live theirs. In other words, ignore her!

  33. Ida says:

I wonder how all of these people who sell their private lives, even if it is a completely made-up version of their lives, for work and money don’t die of embarrassment. And no this isn’t only directed at Angelina. I’m just bored to death of her and her supposed family life due to the recent Jolie-related news overload. I was just reminded of what happened a few years ago when she got her lawyers to try and force the media to not ask her any questions whatsoever about her private life: it royally backfired, with even Jolie-friendly papers and tabloids attacking her. Needless to say it was short-lived. She came to her senses and declared that her lawyers had overreacted.

    • mary jane says:

      Interesting….

It’ll all come out in the wash when the kids are teens. It’s so easy when they are young, gets very different when they enter the whole push-pull behavior of adolescence.

Will Angelina be capable of making that transition to middle-aged mom to 6 teens/young adults who suddenly and inexplicably need ALL of her emotional energy… as they often do??

      I don’t know… I have my doubts.

  34. dena says:

She IS boring, because she’s so transparently desperate for approval. Yawn.

However, I will give her credit for exposing her children to reality.

  35. Her smile is radiant!!Awesome that ITLOBAH is getting positive recognition.Oh,and now its got a nom for Best Foreign Language at the GG.Angie might think shes boring, but I think shes AWESOME!!

  36. LondonLady says:

She comes across as quite insecure and a bit self righteous about the UN stuff. Looks like a nice bit of acting to me.

  37. madpoe says:

Since when is flying a plane boring? Shooting films in exotic locals boring? Lara Croft gun shoot outs dull? Snagging one of la la lands hotties boring? Spawing the cutiest kids (mins Flynn Bloom!!!) dull. That kinda makes me feel I have no pulse, like my life is boring. I get it both ways tho’, I do wish at times the news were more random news with them. To where you’re like “oh who? Brangelina? I was wondering what ever happen to those two kids!”

  38. marie says:

Angelina just answered the questions as honestly as she could, I think. She loves her UN work or she wouldn’t be doing it. It doesn’t bring a huge payday to her. She has a gorgeous smile…she glows and looks very happy with her life.

  39. Cut the Cheese says:

For once, I agree with her. She IS boring.

  40. Sakyiwaa says:

She looks awesome here. and she’s *boring* in a good way…
i certainly would NOT want to see her falling out of bars and getting mugshots from DUIs!

I love her precisely because she doesn’t debase herself like that.

  41. M says:

Honestly I don’t find AJ that interesting. What I DO find interesting, is how her fans behave.

  42. sandy says:

gorgeous and smart, caring, talented, she has brad, jet setting around the world helping other counties, writing, producing, directing a golden globe nominated film, gee, not boring at all, but it’s her norm, so to her i guess it is boring, i also think she should slow the kids travel down a bit, but hey, it’s her life, she does not care what i think, my 2 cent.

  43. TheOriginalKitten says:

Anderson is one of my biggest, all-time crushes. Weird because usually my gaydar instinctively protects me from being attracted to gay men but something about him….not even my type but he’s just SO sexy somehow.

    • Kara Ann says:

Anderson engenders the exact same feelings in me! Love him to pieces. If he could bottle whatever “it” is that he has, he’d make a mint.

  44. Kendra says:

I just love Angelina, doing a great job, keep it up.

  45. NM9005 says:

Boring? The first comments are analyzing her height for pete’s sake :D.

Also, with all the traveling she does, taking care of the children and her acting and directed a film herself, I can’t figure out what that boring part must be. Sleep? Sitting down for 2 damn seconds? I still side with Kaiser on the “settling” part and find her quite selfish in that area but she must be such a cool mother in general. By all accounts, she’s just an adequate actress with a not so stellar filmography and bad taste in fashion but anything else besides that is pretty admirable.

    • deltona lakes says:

I still like to know why is it selfish to show your children how other people live in other parts of the world..and how fortunate they are when others are not and that world is not just a big house in LA.

      • mary jane says:

        Do you have chidren deltona?

If so, then you might be able to put yourself in your childs shoes, not Angelina’s, and imagine that child of yours coping with the a very, very irregular routine.

Potty-training is stranger…. you don’t look at your own pink night-light as you fall asleep each night…. learning to ride a bike at the exact same age as your big sister isn’t a predictable part of your life….

My guess is your little kids are like mine and WILL thrive in their environments. They really don’t care about other people around the world. And they shouldn’t HAVE to until they are emotionally ready.

I think her behavior is selfish. And she’s terrific at rationalizing it. And I couldn’t care less how HER kids turn out. Only mine. On the surface it all seems so cool. But kids are fragile beyond belief. And their self-concept is very dependent on being able to “trust” and predict their routine.

      • NM9005 says:

Why, to discuss this into oblivion? When it comes to Jolie threads I try not to bother with the defensiveness too much anymore, I mean when you boil it down to the core, it is the same discussion all the time and to be honest, it just becomes so boring to me now. Once in awhile, people just have to deal with different opinions and the fact that not everybody loves her 100%. So thanks but no thanks.

      • E says:

Agree with the moving around not necessarily being selfish. Until I went to college, I lived in San Francisco/Hong Kong/Geneva/London/Caracas/Los Angeles. Sure, when I was younger I sometimes wished I could stay in a certain area. At the same time, I believe that learning to adapt can be such an important skill. There are pros and cons to everything. A girl I went to college with was settled for her entire childhood and basically couldn’t deal with being on the other side of the state for college and went back home. While not all people are like that obviously, I think if she had experienced new things and places as a child she would have been able to adapt better.

      • Annie says:

E: chances are if you wanted to stay somewhere, you’d been there for more than a few weeks, you probably went to school, you probably made friends and you probably had time to settle in. That’s not really the same thing as changing countries at least once, and usually several times a year like these kids do.

      • KellyF says:

I think it is selfish to bring your kid to another person, tell your kid to look at that person, he/she is DIFFERENT. She is using third world people to “enhance” her kids’ lives. And from personal experience, did you learn so much from visiting Mexico that one time for spring break, or the week in Hawaii?

    • deltona lakes says:

Maryjane, yes I do have a child and If I was in the position to travel around world 4-5 months out the year and exposed myself and my family to other cultures… I would do it in heartbeat. You choose the way you want raise your children and she chooses the way she wants to raise her kids. As Angie was quoted “I think I’m a good Mother, but it’s not up the world to decide if I’m a good mother” it’s my children that will decide”. I couldn’t have said it better. BTW, where’s Brad in all this? You act as though Angie is a single mother of six.

  46. sm225 says:

…she’s seems perfect. TOO perfect. Something about her doesn’t sit right with me.

I’m biding my time until everything finally cracks.

  47. lisa says:

Damn she looks so beautiful in the videos..

I am a forever fan. @sm225. people have been waiting for the crack for now 7 years.

Angie, Brad and kiddies seem to be holding up just fine. By the time the kids are teens..I hope that the people waiting for the crack realize how much of their lives they have wasted.. waiting. That will be a “crack” to see.

    • mary jane says:

I don’t think Angelina will “crack”, whatever that means. I think SHE will do just fine.

But I DO think it’s a bit of a science experiment, and I see all signs of a woman who’s children are part of a big creative endeavor. And my experience with teens is that they are very difficult to negotiate with if they get the impression that mom and dads lifestyle choices were the priority, not the children specifically. It also makes for a lot of fighting between parents.

I don’t think she’s really there for her kids…. not in the way kids need. She can’t be…and certainly NOT for all six.

I do hope I don’t waste my life waiting to see the outcome though. That would be a shame.

  48. Hmmm says:

She’s an attractive chick. As for her conversation and person….I totally believe she is boring. The fact is attractive chicks get a pass on the boring scale, and on the intelligence scale. We are such fools.

  49. caitrin says:

While for the most part I like and respect Angelina, I find there to be something ignorant, self righteous, and insensitive to her implied belief that children raised in a constant change of environments are better off–and more “worldly”—than children who are not exposed to traveling the world from a young age. For one thing, only a *tiny* percentage of families have the financial ability to afford such a lifestyle, that would allow them to have so many “homes” in so many places, their lives a kind of ongoing vacation. There are no studies showing that frequently moved-about kids are better off in ANY way than those who have a more reliable and stable environment.(Actually, there ARE studies that reveal that many kids, the children of military parents, for example, suffer more than their peers do, from being made unable to ever settle down in one place long enough to make enduring friendships.) I think that, for *some* children, a nomadic lifestyle IS an exciting and in many ways healthy, helpful one–exposing children to lives less fortunate than their own, and keeping them alert to an endless variety of options, cultures, and interests. However, not ALL children flourish throughout such an unstable existence, and I think it’s selfish for AJ to presume that “never settling”–b/c that’s the life SHE prefers, as an adult–is also the best manner for ALL of her children to be forced to live in, along with her. There are ups and downs to every method/manner of raising children, and the more “exciting” lifestyles (exciting to adults) are NOT inherently superior ones. I think that, since children have no say in how they are raised–are basically captives of the people who raise them—it is easy for AJ to ASSUME all her children prefer the constant moving to a sense of more reliable environment. It’s insensitive of her,as at LEAST one ofher kids would probably flourish much more in a smaller, less changable, less inconsistent environment–but I get the feeling Angie doesn’t consider this deeply enough.there is a selfishness about this–and her–which I DON’T admire, despite my inexorable respect for her in so many other areas and fields.(SORRY SO DAMN LONG!!!!)

    • Josephina says:

Angie, like you, wants the best for her kids and will aim to give what they (Brad/Angie) are able to give. She is talking about her approach and why it is different from the mainstream.

Rich people tend to have more resources and usually will spend the money to provide the best opportunity for the best exposure to education. At the end of the day nothing really guarantees success, but you can prepare for success.

She is talking about her children and what she wants for them. That is the prerogative that parents have with their children. Brad and Angie are obviously very sensitive to the needs of their unique rainbow family and naturally, very open to accepting other cultures as an integral part of the learning process for their brood of multicultural children. I like what she is doing with her kids, especially since our American educational system still does not embrace multiculturalism as a necessary and fundamental component of learning. Kudos to Angie!!

    • Kara Ann says:

This is kinda off topic per AJ but on topic as far as the nomadic lifestyle is concerned. I once read an interview that Christian Bale gave about how prior to the birth of his daughter he and his wife didn’t have a “home”. They wondered from movie location to movie location and he quite liked it. But then he said that he realized his daughter might be the type of person who needed community, roots, and family close by and for her sake, they decided to settle in California. I was very impressed with that and just thought I’d throw the thought your way. 🙂

  50. The Original Mia says:

She probably is a boring, introverted person, but because of her past as a wild child, everyone thinks she’s got this exciting, vivid personality. When the reality is…she’s normal.

I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for the first time too this year. It is quite the nerve-racking experience.

  51. mcc says:

angelina may be somewhat sedate but she wasn’t always this way. she used to be a leather pants wearing, blood in a vial, knife wielding, kissing her brother, crazy ass chick. that is what started the initial tabloid interest in her life: she was extremely beautiful and really wild and the tabloid coverage was a runaway train that hasn’t stopped yet.

  52. hatekyle says:

She’s refreshing and she talks sense. She’s not about to puke out words like “retarded.” She’s got more depth and beauty and ahhhhh….and she doesn’t have to buy her own beauty awards.

  53. Callumna says:

    She’s a pilot.

Also a movie star, a director, UN ambassador and is one half of the Bogey and Bacall of today.

She’s a millionaire which alone would be cool. She’s an Oscar winner child of an Oscar winner who abandoned her.

I know it’s not the Heroine Diaries of her youth but it sounds a lot less boring than that.

Guess she’s attempting to be humble but it’s also a bit silly.

  54. Snowman says:

Come on, if someone says this Cele’Bitchy’ site is pro-Angelina or actually Angie fansite, that doesn’t mean she/he is a hater. Do not over overanalyze.

It just means that the site is bitchy only to other actors but not to all.

  55. mcc says:

    i love angie!
