Star: Sandra Bullock’s $20 million defamation lawsuit against Jesse James

Star Magazine has an inset story on their cover this week all about Sandra Bullock’s $20 million defamation lawsuit against her scumbag ex, Jesse James, for talking smack about her publicly. However, the story just says that Sandra could file a suit against Jesse if she were so inclined and that she could make it for around $20 million, according to some expert Star found. They only go so far as to quote a vague “source” who claims Sandra is considering it. My favorite part of this story is where Star speculates that Sandra won’t sue Jesse, also as they’ve speculated, because Jesse could potentially have some awesome dirt on her that he would bring out during a lawsuit. Isn’t this what we’ve heard all along? Like how can Sandy, “America’s Sweetheart,” have married a douchey neo-Nazi and still have kept her pristine public image? However, I think that Jesse was so butt hurt by getting rejected after cheating on Sandra that he would have already spilled Sandra’s secrets if he had any. Here’s more of Star’s story:

One month after shocking accounts of her husband’s wild cheating drove Sandra Bullock to file for divorce in April 2010, an emotional and repentant Jesse James appeared on Nightline and claimed, “I still have hopes of saving some sort of relationship with Sandy.”

Now it seems those sentiments were hollow, because the words Jesse has used over the last year to publicly describe his life with Sandra have been dipped in venom.

And his latest thinly veiled broad-side against her — when he sneeringly referred to how he had “married some Hollywood actress… I’m not what I became,” during a recent appearance on the reality series American Chopper: The Build-Off — could end up hurting him where it hurts the most: in his wallet!

An insider tells Star magazine that while Sandra, 47, “has consistently taken the high road by never talking about Jesse since their split, I don’t expect her to play the shrinking violet forever if his jabs have secretly been causing her emotional distress.”

And she has a powerful weapon at her disposal to strike back. Sources tell Star she could hit Jesse, 42, with a defamation suit, with one legal expert telling Star that “asking for $20 million in damages would not be out of the realm of possibility…”

Sandra “has every right to initiate a defamation lawsuit against her ex husband if she believes that any of the public statements he’s made about her have been defamatory,” noted NYC defamation lawyer Richard Ancowitz tells Star…

“I imagine that even the prospect of legal action would lead his lawyer to counsel Mr. James to keep his thoughts about Ms. Bullock to himself…”

“If Jesse keeps revealing personal information about Sandra, she could also stop him by suing for invasion of privacy,” Aaron Morris, a defamation attorney… tells Star…

Though Sandra’s rep denies that she is considering legal action, the legal source adds that she could also “go after Jesse for breach of contract if they had signed confidentiality agreements as part of their divorce.”

There is a possible consequence that could keep Sandra from taking action, the legal source tells Star. “It could open the door the defendant to disclose more embarrassing personal information as a defense against the claims. That information would then become public in the court record.”

This “lawsuit” is as much a figment of Star’s imagination as Jennifer Aniston’s pregnancy with twins, but it’s still fun to speculate about. You know that Sandra is just actively ignoring this guy and he keeps throwing jabs at her hoping to get some kind of response. She’s not going to say a thing about him and that hurts his widdle ego more than anything.

Sandra has been doing the press rounds for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, in which she plays the widow of a 9-11 victim. She’s only in the film for about 20 minutes, and the lead is the young boy who plays her son, Thomas Horn. She has a new interview on The Today Show in which she talks about her personal experience with the September 11 attacks (sad) and about hearing the last messages that victims left their families (double sad). Families shared the messages from their loved ones to help with research for the film, and Sandra called those “an incredible gift.” She does have a fun rapport with Matt Lauer and gives him crap throughout the interview, but it’s not enough to lighten the mood. Watching the press for this film just gives me the impression that it’s not going to do well at the box office given the subject matter. It may get some nods at awards time, though, especially for Horn.

He’s just dying for some attention from her. Doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative. That’s why he keeps making jabs and she’s smart enough to ignore them. He’d probably be thrilled to be hit with a lawsuit, because it would tie him to her and bring him back into the limelight again.

    • gg says:

      a) She looks flippin GORGEOUS!
      b) He hasn’t said anything sue-worthy. All he’s said are a few tacky comments, which nobody in their right mind would pay any attention to, since they only make him look like the slimy little worm he is.

    • lucy2 says:

      Totally agree.
He’s got issues, obviously. He needs to work that out himself and leave everyone else alone.

    • Kloops says:

Yup. She will never give this douche the time of day. No lawsuits, no public statements, nothing. He is dead to her.

  2. atorontogal says:

She’s a class act and he is such a POS…I wish the earth would open up and swallow him whole!

  3. carrie says:

    STAR is a huge lie!

  4. Seal Team 6 says:

She’s smart enough not to do it, and smart enough not to give him the satisfaction of acknowledging his existence.

  5. Franny says:

everything about 9/11 makes me so upset. I can’t even imagine being those people sitting on those planes or in those buildings, or having a loved one be one of them. Its awful what human beings do to one another.

  6. spinner says:

She will not file suit against him. This is what he wants & he will sing like a canary. He wants to expose her. Sandra can’t risk it.

  7. midnightmoon says:

She doesn’t look awful, but she’s starting to look a little jacked. Her hair should not be so long & thin. Yuckies. I wish her well…

  8. TheOriginalKitten says:

Not really relevant to this article but I just saw her in an interview yesterday and she was looking VERY frozen 🙁
I used to think she hadn’t had any work done but she most definitey has.

    • mikamoo says:

I was wondering the same thing.. she looks very “tight”, like she has had a TON of work done.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I’m not exaggerating when I say that her face was literally NOT moving when I saw her. It was REALLY freaky-like she was wearing a mask. Maybe she had just gotten toxed and it hadn’t “settled” yet? I dunno 🙁

  9. DorothyZbornak says:

He doesn’t have anything on her. She won’t sue him because it would be a total waste of time. She doesn’t need or I’m sure want any of his money, and she doesn’t want to do anything to connect her to him again, or give him any more of the attention he so desperately craves. This is just a dumb story (that he probably planted).

  10. Susan says:

The bigger story here: What is she doing to her face? As for Sandra she obviously is not over what happened – as for him he wins because he gets the attention he wants. Boo for this site and others for posting stories like this, this is exactly what feeds the attention he gets.

  11. Coucou says:

It’s a sick, sad day when someone makes KFed look even better than he had already hoped for. Thanks a lot Jesse, you’re a real piece of work. Why don’t you call Mama Kris up and see if she’s got any work in line for ya.

  12. sesame says:

I’m surprised the “jacked face” comment hasn’t been raised in the post about the Extremely Loud and Dangerously Close premiere pictures. Sandy’s face looks way more jacked than Kate Winslet’s. It’s on par with Courteney Cox-like frozen face .

  13. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Her and Fergie are starting to morph into the same person.

  14. AA says:

She needs to back off the tanner, makeup, and botox/fillers…

Real Housewives of New Jersey, anyone?

  15. Ice Bunny says:

I will never understand why this website consistently uses misleading headers, quotes and regurgitates entirely fabricated material from magazines that make money solely by making up stories. It really debases this site, which I read regularly – but the more stories like this I see, the less frequently I visit. Surely there are other ways to post great pictures of Sandra. And let’s see if this makes it past the “comment moderator”.

  16. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

I think her face does look a bit tight, but still pretty. That hair, though – woah. Way too thin and flat.

  17. truthful says:

I’ll NEVER buy her “innocent” spiel, there is a reason she fell in love w/him, AND a reason why she stayed through all of the slime yrs.

she’s NOT innocent by a long shot.
something attracted her that she loved.

they had more in common than the public will ever know.

I’ll never understand why everyone acts like she is an angel, LOL

    • spinner says:

I agree with you. I don’t buy that she didn’t know about his sordid issues. Jesse wants to spill the beans on her.

    • Vesper says:

I agree that they likely have more in common than the public will ever know. I also wonder if they had an open marriage, with the condition that it be kept discreet, and when it wasn’t Sandra dumped him. His venomous statements seem out of place for a guy who should know he screwed up by cheating. I know he is a whining, narcisstic as*, but something seems off.

      • Samantha says:

OMG!! I thought I was the only one who thought this…There is no way in the world she did not know what he was doing.

I really resent her adopting that baby to save her career.

  18. Jayna says:

Why do you resort to posting something so made up.

  19. Turtle Dove says:

I think that the Star is off and are stretching connecting dots. JJ is not even worth Sandy’s consideration.

She is incredibly gracious to her young co-star. I adore her. She’s wonderful.

    • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

My young cousin (who’s 9) is an extra in “Extremely Loud…” and she and her mother said Sandra was nothing but kind and gracious. She was also in Mr. Poppers Penguins and said Jim Carrey was great (even took the time to joke with the kids). They don’t have to take the time to interact with the extras, but they do. So, this makes Jim and Sandra ok in my book.

  20. Criss says:

I hope this is true. Someone needs to take that trash’s money away from him.

  21. BNF says:

On that tabloid cover I hope that Miley Cyrus drug overdose story isn’t true.

  22. Callumna says:

Weird and tacky how Hollywood hates the use of Sept 11 by pols but uses it constantly for money.

When actors and actresses have a sob story to go on the talk show circuit for their movies I get grossed out. Started noticing it when Halle Berry had a “I was cheated on in high school” victim story which she reran for every media outlet for that Why do Fools Fall in Love flick.

  23. samira677 says:

This is such a madeup story I don’t even know why this is being covered. Unless I’m missing something I don’t understand how Sandra could sue. Making tacky comments like calling her some Hollywood actress or saying Kat is better in bed isn’t grounds for a lawsuit.

  24. JaneWonderfalls says:

I don’t think she should sue. She should continue to take the high road. Public opinion favors Sandra and not that douche bag. The more he opens his mouth the more damage he does to himself and his image, Karma is a big bitch that will strike him down eventually, so all Sandra needs to do is continue to live her life and take care of her precious baby boy, It’s Jesse’s lost not hers.

  25. Maritza says:

In Sandra’s mind Jesse is dead to her and that is what bothers him so much. Before he was famous and respected now people can’t stand him.

  26. reeda redneck says:

She looks awful anymore, way too much work, her eyes look cold and dead anymore. She always has that nasty fake can’t be bothered to fully smile so I will half smirk on her face anymore too. Anyway, she won’t sue, she knew what she married, and she knew what she wa sgetting. If anyone believes she did not know her husband was a douche, well then they must think Sandy is stupid, and I don’t get that vibe from her. She loved that bad boy in him, he messed up by being careless and getting caught. This marriage and divorce sure did elevate her to a much more known name that before. Before she was a vanilla mediocre actress who plays the same character over and over angain, boringly so. Now, she has this horrible marriage to redefine her. Genious!

  27. wunder says:

    She looks great!

    (unlike the former Mrs. Kutcher)

  28. Jo says:

I’m sorry to disagree with so many of you, but I don’t think she looks good. The long straight hair makes me think of an Addams Family remake, and her makeup does nothing to flatter her face.
I also agree with the posters above who said she knew he was a ‘bad boy’. She has tried hard to emerge from the divorce as the wronged spouse. Yes, she was wronged, but I don’t buy for a minute that she thought he was the boy next door (even though her PR people want us to believe she is the girl next door). You know, y’all, the right amount of money to the top PR firm will get you whatever image you want.

I officially wish Kim Kardashian on Jesse James
