Did Miley Cyrus really spend $50,000 to lose fifteen pounds in a few weeks?

Last week after the People’s Choice Awards, Kaiser took special note of what a damn sexy couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth made together. Indeed, they looked good as always, but Miley seemed well, different. Upgraded, perhaps. It was a subtle difference but noticeable if one looks at the above photo comparison between 12/10 and 1/11. Miley was no longer hiding under a bulky gown, her boobs seemed smaller, and her arms looked more toned up than they previously did. According to In Touch, this was a very deliberate change, for Miley went on a pre-holidays crash diet and exercise program to lose weight for a beach vacation with Liam. Through the magic of a chef, nutritionist, and personal trainer, Miley quickly lost 15 pounds but did so at very significant monetary expense:

It was hard not to notice Miley Cyrus’ pared-down physique at the January 11 People’s Choice awards. According to a pal, the teen — who packed on the pounds late last year — enlisted the help of a nutritionist, chef and her old personal trainer, Harley Pasternak, to whip herself into bikini-ready shape ahead of her recent Hawaiian getaway with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. “Miley probably spent $50,000 to lose 15 pounds in a few weeks,” the pal tells In Touch. “She didn’t care what it cost as long as she looked good!”

[From In Touch, print edition, January 30, 2012]

So was it worth all of that money to lose weight so quickly when normal civilians like myself sweat it out for several months at the gym and come up with the same results? Miley probably didn’t even blink an eye at spending $50,000, since she’s reportedly worth $120 million (the Hannah Montana franchise itself reached upwards of $1 billion in sales). The thing is, Miley wasn’t big to begin with. Sure, she gained a little weight after leaving her Disney show and heading into the age bracket where most people gain a few pounds anyway. The end result for Miley was that face looked a little rounder, and the girls were more noticeable in these photo from 12/8 and 12/1:

Here’s a few photos from early November of last year, where she looks a little puffy, but I figured she just had the pot munchies. Not everyone can get away with smoking weed and staying svelte in manner of Rihanna:

Last year on 8/27, Miley was definitely covering up her figure, so it must have bothered her to some extent:

And here’s a side view of Miley at the People’s Choice Awards. That $50,000 was somewhat well spent, but she could’ve done it for free in just a little more time.

The hem of her white dress reminds me of my daughter’s crayon box. She looks good, weight-wise. Healthier, too. Like she’s not drinking as much.

  2. ladybert62 says:

Wish I had $50,000 to spend on losing 15 pounds (which is over $3,000 per pound!)

    Wish I could lose 15 pounds. ^_^

I am really really tired of seeing boobs on women – this trend has just gotten old.

  3. Liz says:

I think she’d have been better off investing in nice clothes at a larger size.

The problem after she gained the weight wasn’t her body. It was that she was putting herself in ill fitting clothes that made her look worse than she had to.

Nice clothes might have made her feel better about herself. Maybe she wouldn’t have felt so frantic about losing weight.

    • Erinn says:

Maybe. But I know when I first gained weight out of highschool it was upsetting going up to a bigger size, no matter how good it looked.

  4. Sisi says:

I think she looks great with and without the weight. The gray dress is just ugly. The white one is great though. I think I just prefer her in short funky dresses instead of stuffy gowns

    • Franny says:

I agree – the shorter dresses are a lot more flattering, and age appropriate I think.

I wish I had the willpower to lose just 15 lbs. Ugh. This does kind of motivate me too though. But sometimes (ok 95% of the time) I would just rather lay on the couch.

  5. for real? says:

if i had the money i dont see why not, if it helps her feel good about herself. and it was done with a nutritionist and a persoanl trainer, then i say go for it!!!

  6. Asli says:

Isn’t that photo supposed to say January 2012?

  7. Bobby the K says:

I don’t know why it is, but i noticed a lot of pot heads are not tubby at all, and can actually be slim.

Maybe she should just engage in more bong hits! But anyway, i usually feel dismissive about people in her situation. But there’s something i like about miley as a person. She seems cool, and not a huge diva.

    • Zigggy says:

I know! I have a friend who smokes a ton of weed, has 2 kids and is smokin hot. Actually, when I was a pot head years ago I was really thin too, despite the munchies. Stupid alcohol was/is what got me & keeps me a bit chubby 🙁

    • Shannon says:

I smoke weed, and I haven’t had a problem dieting on top of it. Even when you’re stoned, you can harness the willpower to not stuff your face if you really want to 😛 Or if you have serious munchies, just picking healthy snacks like popcorn and carrot sticks instead of reaching for something high in fat makes all the difference.

  8. Anna says:

15 pounds??? That seems like quite a lot for a change that doesn’t look really noticeable. If anything she just looks more toned.

  9. Julie says:

Reminds me of what I’ve often said around folks that drink alot. I could easily be their trainer particularly if they didn’t want to work out. I’d just tell them to put down the booze. Alot of her weight appeared to often be bloat to me. I need to work in Hollywood….seriously. $50,000!

  10. bea says:

I’m sure she lost weight, but at her age that isn’t that much of an issue. I doubt she had to spend that much $ to lose weight!

  11. Nina says:

Wow, I REALLY love the outfit that she wore to the People’s Choice Awards. It’s simple and age-appropriate but still fun with the trim on the hem and the sparkly hot pink shoes (WANT).

  12. Happy21 says:

I don’t see that much of a difference. Maybe she’s been working out? She looks really good and does in most of the photos above. The one with the very patterned, tight, long dress is the least attractive. That dress just looks ill fitting.

  13. Happymom says:

She should invest in a new stylist.

  14. only1shmoo says:

This is pretty unfair and contradictory of her. A few months back she was attacked by internet trolls for having gained weight, and she retaliated with her “real women have curves”, and “this kind of bullying leads to anorexia in girls; besides, I’m happy as I am, etc.”, or something along those lines.

Flash forward a few months and she’s posing in a bikini like she’s LeAnn Rimes, and looking noticeably thinner. This sends really mixed messages to girls, because essentially M.C. has just suggested that while women are “beautiful with a little more meat on their bones”, they’re still better off being skinny. I knew this would happen, but I’m P.O.’d nonetheless.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

ITA I saw this coming as well. So over the “I’m a curvy girl” mantra, when they turn around and endorse some diet product, and effectively lose those curves. The positive thing to look at is that they’re saying she started working out and ate right. That’s a huge difference compared to most actresses that lie and say they don’t diet or exercise, and are just naturally “perfect”, yeah right.

  15. Mia says:

It looks like for the white dress, she had better tanning and contouring to bronze out her tone/definition? Either way she looks healthy and fit in the white dress, hope she continues working out cause she has a great pair of legs

  16. lucy2 says:

I don’t see much difference between those two photos, other than the white dress is more flattering.

  17. Jillian says:

she’s entered the world of adulthood..where weight and metabolic changes, not to mention, that age where most young women go on the birth control pill, leads to a modest but not inevitable weight gain. Once women realize they can’t eat like they used to, at that age, it’s so easy to lose a few. It happens to most late teen to early 20ish woman.

  18. Beth says:

The camera easily adds 10 lbs, so I’d say she’s now a bit too thin. She looked great before; we’re just so used to seeing scrawny female celebrities, we don’t recognize a healthy one when we see one.

  19. HadleyB says:

50K for a month of work? that seems a bit high for those services even at celeb level. Maybe if she had a chef, massages every day — more than that even. I dont think it was that high and if I had the $$

Believe me — I’d have a personal trainer kicking my ass every day to work out, a chef making me delish healthy meals.. its better than 50k on a bag or something stupid.

    Good for her.

  20. Sara says:

I actually think she looks good for the first time in a while. She was never fat but her face had a puffy unhealthy look to it.

  21. Mikki says:

In the side view in the last pic, she does look noticeably slimmer, even her chest seems smaller. She should always wear her hair down – the pulled back look does not work with those cheeks of hers! I’d happily spend that kind of money on a chef, trainer etc if I could afford it.

  22. Isa says:

She looks great. I wish I had those arms.
My hips look just like hers in that grey dress. All square..ugh I hate them.

  23. Kim says:

To her $50k is like $5 to us. She has a nice figure but it doesnt look like she lost 15 pds NOR does she need to.

  24. kimberly says:

it’s not hard to lose the weight if you stick to a diet of natural foods, and don’t drink pop or eat anything with preservatives. PERIOD. eliminating energy drinks, lattes, mochas, and pop drops over 5 pounds alone without any extra effort.

Miley’s weight gain was from the munchies, so I think it was easier for her to lose it. Plus she’s 18, the youngest age to be considered an adult, and the age when it’s easiest to lose weight.

She looks good, but I still don’t want to see her in any movies or hear her on the radio until she does something about her nasally voice.

  25. fabgrrl says:

I would pay that much to lose the weight PERMANENTLY. Most of us can manage to loose 15 pounds in a reasonable amount of time (especially at, what? 19 years old?). But keeping the weight from creeping back on is the issue.

  26. whatevs says:

wtf i can’t even stand this slutty fug face but she wasn’t anywhere near fat.

  27. Kara Ann says:

I think that Miley looks great! If I had her bank account, I’d probably do the same things that she did. She hired someone to help her and did it through hard work. She just needed to lose it quickly. I actually envy her.

  28. Sophie says:

She looks the exact same to me in those top two pictures. And she is not an attractive girl. At at least, she’s not attractive enough to be famous.

  29. Pictures says:

That comment up there about her ‘nasally voice’, apparently it’s not too bad because her films and music sell for millions!

She looks great regardless. I need to start smoking it up, least I’ll have an excuse for my munchies! Lol.
