Adele is suing over “100% false” claims that she boinked a dude on tape

I cannot even describe the pit in the bottom of my stomach when I first saw this story. (Sidenote: my stomach has been acting weird lately, though – I blame Girl Scout cookies. I swear the peanut butter tasted funny.) Adele boinked a guy on tape? NOOooooo! Oh, and we have issues with using the phrase “s-x t-pe” because of the ad filter. So let’s all play along with “boinked a guy on tape,” okay? Anyway, the French tabloids (!!!) claimed that Adele made a boinking tape with a boyfriend a few years ago, and a paparazzo has bought the tape and he’s going to sell it or release it or something. Parts of the story are being lost in translation from French to English, but it doesn’t matter. Why? Because Adele says it’s BS. YAY!!!

Adele, the award winning singer, has fallen victim to an attempted smear after a French paparazzo released a s-x tape falsely alleging that she was its star. The 23-year-old immediately made clear that she had not appeared in the tape and instructed top law firm Schillings to take legal action.

The claims were described as “untrue and grossly defamatory”. A spokesman for Adele said it was “100 per cent false”.

The hoax tape was alleged to have been made by the singer’s former boyfriend who inspired some of her most successful songs. At her 18th birthday party she told him she was falling in love with him. But four hours later he is said to have left her for one of her gay male friends.

Adele has never disclosed the man’s identity but did reveal that he had tried to claim a share of the songwriting royalties on the grounds that he had inspired the lyrics.

She said: “For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it. Finally, I said, ‘Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it.’”

She went on: “He thought he’d had some input into the creative process by being a p—-. I’ll give him his credit: he made me an adult and put me on the road I am travelling.”

French celebrity magazine Public has dedicated three pages to the alleged tape, publishing stills purporting to feature the singer under the headline “Adele, the S-x Tape, her ex takes his revenge”.

The publication claims that the “bold” images showed Adele in the back seat of her ex boyfriend’s car and that the pictures were taken on a smartphone. The magazine quotes a “close friend” as saying Adele was “devastated” when she found out the images had been release

It asks: “Was it a low blow by her ex?”

Speculation about the tape was rife on Twitter and internet forums after it emerged that paparazzo Jean Claude Elfassi had announced that he would be releasing it on his blog tomorrow. However, the photographer’s website appeared to have been taken offline with a message stating that it had been “temporarily disabled”.

He wrote on Twitter today: “Hurry up and steal or buy Public, they do not have enough printed and there are already shortages in newsagents”.

[From The Telegraph]

I had a moment of “OMG, is Adele the kind of person who would make a boinking tape with someone she KNEW (deep down in her heart) was terribly unsuitable?” Like, I can forgive a woman for making a tape with her husband or a long-term boyfriend – although it’s not my choice, I understand it. But don’t make a tape when you’re in some dead-end relationship with a d-bag. That’s just asking for trouble. Thankfully, Adele is not in that kind of trouble. It’s all rubbish! Huzzah!

In other Adele news, she’s changed her mind on “taking five years off” which is what she said in her Vogue interview. In a post on her website just after the Grammys, Adele wrote, “I’ve a few days off now, and then it’s the Brit Awards here at home and then I’m straight into the studio. BOYYAHH! 5 years? More like 5 days!” Yay! She’ll be back in the studio soon. This post is full of awesome Adele news.

The only thing I question is her taste in men….ugh! I hope Swampy treats her better.

    • nunya beeswax says:

Right. They guy I saw her in the Grammy’s with reminds me of Gummi Bear (forgot the dudes name but he was on Celebrity Rehab).

      • EBitch says:

I think you mean Jason Davis? Brandon Davis’ brother…he was also on Millionaire Matchmaker, hahaha. Such a weirdo!

  2. kazoo says:

The stills I saw kinda looked like her.

    • Spacelamb says:

The woman in the pictures doesn’t have a cleft chin. There’s a resemblance, but I don’t think it’s her.

  3. almond says:

Stuff like this comes with the fame and money. There are tons of low-lives just looking for an opportunity to make a quick and fat buck -pounds or euros, in this case.

  4. Kimlee says:

I wonder why she said she was taking 5 Years off than say only a couple of days?

    • shontay says:

Probably just exaggeration on her part. She was talking about not working herself to death or sacrificing her new relationship.

  5. Newtsgal says:

    I feel sorry for her.
There will always be leaches trying to make money off of other people.
I hope she stays strong and rises above this scum, and it doesn’t end up tearing her down.

“Adele has never disclosed the man’s identity but did reveal that he had tried to claim a share of the songwriting royalties on the grounds that he had inspired the lyrics.”

! This type of thing infuriates me! I have a friend who had a hit song that moved his band into serious bigtime, traveling the world. When his old buddy found out the main line of the song was something somebody told the buddy once, he got all pissed off and wanted some of the credit. And being a musician also, the buddy really should’ve known better how it all works, but he remained ignorant about songwriting royalties.

Songwriting is something that not everybody can do, and the jealous ones will claim they could’ve written that just as well as the writer, but it’s just not true. Copyrighting and being there while the song was written and, most importantly, WHILE the song is being written there already being a FIRM AGREEMENT in place, is the ONLY way anybody’s going to get a share in royalties, unless the writer either on purpose or accidentally ripped the song from somebody else.

And when some jagoff that treated you like crap inspires you to write hit songs, the jagoff does not get to earn money from his poor treatment of you. Despicable.

  6. Rita says:

I want to see Adele in a movie roll playing a May West-esque (say that, 3 times fast!) character. She has that “no-please, just-tease” glint in her eye. They could call it West’s Side Story.

  7. Asli says:

Wauw. I didn’t know her ex was such a douchebag. Damn. Ouch, that she said she loved him and he dumped her. And it was her birthday too? Yikes

The only celebrity I ”trust” (I guess) not to lie is Adele. So if she says it’s not true, I suppose it’s not true.

  8. Emily says:

I believe her 100%. She’s smarter than that.

I hope she actually does sue them though. So many celebs “threaten to sue” over stories that are actually true.

P.S– I can’t believe that her ex tried to claim royalties. WTF!

    • Sue L. says:

I hope that she sues as well. I seem to recall another musician (Rob Thomas??) whose ex tried to sue as well. I don’t remember the outcome though… it was quite a while ago

  9. Lis says:

    It’s not her?

    Aw, darn…

I think we’d all have watched that one.

Note: I wouldn’t care if it was true. We’ve all dated pervs. We’ve all made mistakes.

  10. Claire says:

I saw the cover..it’s not her. A look-a-like that doesn’t really look like her.

  11. Lis says:

Dlisted is saying that the stills are taken from an American pornographic film. Not starring Adele:

    *curses luck*

Now I feel sorry for whoever’s in the original. She did the job, and now everyone is going to at least hear about it because it’s associated with a really famous singer.

I doubt she wants this kind of attention.

    • dahlia1947 says:

Yeah that’s right. I’m glad it’s not her. JUst a lame attempt from a loser who wants to take her down.

  12. Tiffany says:

So is this the trend now. When you have a career high, someone tries to embarrass for no other reason than to be spiteful.

    • Newtsgal says:

      and make a buck!

    • Kiyoshigirl says:

Isn’t that the way it always goes? At least here in America, and I believe England is the same, the media loves to build up artists and celebs to the highest high and then rip them into shreds slowly and powerfully. It’s disgusting and it takes a really strong artist with a great PR team to fight off the backlash of becoming successful.

      • iseepinkelefants says:

It’s worse in England. I’ve heard many Brit celebrities say that.

Although Adele’s the golden girl right now and I don’t think even the English want to piss on her parade. Notice it was a French mag publishing the claims. I guess the Sun wouldn’t buy it? Which is odd for the Sun.

  13. Franny says:

I am SO HAPPY that she isn’t actually taking years off. Best news all week 🙂

  14. Girl says:

Poor thing. It was probably only a matter of time before someone pulled a stunt like this. Glad it isn’t her. We all make mistakes but she seems much smarter than to have done something like that. Assuming that the pics/video were taken with both participants’ knowledge.

  15. shontay says:

I think she is smarter than that. However, I have to say that what troubles me is the treatment of people who do have sex tapes. Sure, it’s foolish, but I think it’s disturbing how we treat it as if it’s a crime. All the while, celebrities who do drugs are made fun of a bit, but it’s not that big a deal. It’s a real problem with us. Violence, drugs? OK. Sex? How terrible.

    • Agnes says:

i couldn’t agree more. home movies don’t hurt consenting adults. who cares, you know? people should pay more attention to domestic violence (hello, chris brown) and violence in general, and not to something like this.

    • OlsenTriplet says:

It is a crime. A crime of stupidity.

  16. the original bellaluna says:

Sue his arse, Adele! And sue your ex, too. Because what a flaming idiot, thinking he should get some credit (and some cash) because he “inspired” her songs. plplplplplplbt!

Her quotes about him were truly inspired.

  17. Agnes says:

i mean, who cares… she’s awesomely talented. she has a great life. so what if she “boinked a guy on tape” some years ago? especially if it was for what she thought was private enjoyment of her then-boyfriend and herself? i always think that celebrities should treat it like “yeah, i did it, whatever” and things would blow over faster.

  18. judyjudy says:

    “Boink” heee heee heeee

  19. Shannon says:

Anyone who’s bothered to listen to Adele’s songs about her ex could call bull here. “She is half your age” does not sound like a gay boyfriend to me, and Adele isn’t the sort who would change the gender for her lyrics to make the song more universally relateable 😛

I wouldn’t put it past Adele’s ex to try to profit off a tape like that (he really is that big a d-bag), but the details in the story are all wrong.

    • samira677 says:

The guy who sued was the ex written about in her first album, 19. Her 2nd cd, 21, is about a different ex.

I hate the word boinked. It sounds really weird.

  20. Maritza says:

I don’t think it’s her but either way it wouldn’t hurt her because she is a wonderful singer and people love her.
The guy is a real @sshole. She looks so gorgeous in those pictures.

  21. Ogechi says:

If there is one lady I adore & respect without holding back- Adele. She encompasses everything I wish to be. I love love & love her. May her voice never cease! May her enemies live & see her excel-Amen.

  22. Adrien says:

Oh, “boinking tape”. I thought she taped the dude with duct tape while bonking. That would be some kind of nasty fetish.

  23. Maya says:

She may be uber talented, but from the interviews, it’s quite obvious that she is very ‘common’, in the sense that she has little decorum. To say that she makes an ideal wife/gf because she likes having a lot of sex?
    Who really cares about that?
Not only that, but it kind of focuses on the superficial, which is a contradiction to the things she says she doesn’t really care about – superficiality.

    • Gretta says:

I agree. I’ve been a bit disappointed by how she presents herself in interviews. The cursing and low brow manners is putting a dent in her otherwise very attractive appearance. The huge hair, rat nested beyond belief is also offputting as she was showing Anderson Cooper around her ginormous rented mansion.

There is something else I do notice about her though…I think she has some anxiety issues and it sometimes comes across when she’s in the limelight. Can’t say I’d blame her – it would be hard to get use to.

  24. marie says:

…Can’t stand her…she has some talent but is crass and rude…no class. Why state that you love sex???? As for a sex tape, who would want to have sex with her. Her photo shopped pictures look beautiful and clearly there was a lot done to them as her Grammy pic shows a fat face with no definition at all.

  25. NinaG says:

Adele’s first scandal, You know she really made it now when people are now dragging her name through the mud over something completely false!

  26. phlyfiremama says:

Oh, dear goddess, I just love her more & more…:)

  27. Kloops says:

She is insanely beautiful but I prefer the darker hair. Glad she’s not taking 5 years away!

  28. OlsenTriplet says:

“Like, I can forgive a woman for making a tape with her husband or a long-term boyfriend – although it’s not my choice, I understand it.”

Seriously? Boink tapes are IQ tests and everyone who makes one fails. What is the point in objectifying yourself in a video that might end up in the wrong hands and destroy you or at least embarrass you for the rest of your life?

  29. The Bobster says:

She made a guy switch teams? Well, George Costanza had that effect on women.
