Halle Berry confirms engagement: “I swore it off… never say never, people!”

I was surprised that so many of you cared about Halle Berry wearing a trashy-looking animal-print dress over the weekend, so now you’re going to get even more Halle news. Excited? Sure you are. These are new photos of Halle promoting the “Celebrity Golf Classic” at the Wilshire Country Club. Is this appropriate golf gear? Maybe she’s not golfing. Maybe she’s just promoting and then retiring to the club for a martini. Anyway, while Halle was out and about over the weekend, Extra got a hold of her and they got her to confirm her engagement to Olivier Martinez:

Sounds like Halle Berry has learned her lesson. The Oscar winning actress once swore she’d “never, never” get married again. Then Olivier Martinez entered her life.

Dating since 2010, Us Weekly broke the news in January that the French actor, 46, had proposed to Berry–who has been married twice before, to baseball player David Justice and R&B singer Eric Benet–over the holidays.

Still, Berry, 45, had refused to confirm her and Martinez’s happy news until now.

Opening up to Extra at an event Saturday, the Dark Tide star laughed when asked about her engagement to Martinez. “Who knew? I swore [marriage] off, right?”

Added Berry, “Never say never, people!”

Martinez, for his part, finally confirmed the couple’s engagement in March, telling Miami.com, “Yes, of course we’re engaged!”

Prior to meeting the actor-turned-restauranteur, a source told Us that Berry really had “given up” on marriage–but changed her tune as soon as she got to know Martinez, and saw how wonderful a father he would make to Nahla, her 4-year-old daughter with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

“She trusts Olivier,” the source shared. “He makes her feel safe. He’s a keeper!”

[From Us Weekly]

“…But changed her tune as soon as she got to know Martinez, and saw how wonderful a father he would make to Nahla.” For the love of God. Halle is bound and determined to completely negate Gabriel’s role in Nahla’s life. It’s really sad – I often feel like this whole custody battle with Gabriel has been an exercise in Halle’s long-standing temperamental nature. As in, she has a hair-trigger temper and she holds crazy grudges for little to no reason. And it’s still so unbelievable to me that Olivier Martinez is co-signing this whole thing with an engagement. What’s the current over/under on whether Halle and Olivier will actually make it down the aisle?

Her skin is so amazing. Damn.

She’s a beautiful woman on the outside but venomous on the inside. A terrible combination.

    • brin says:

Yep. I feel like her mission is to make Gabriel’s life miserable.

    • Jennifer says:

      Exactly. Beautiful body, ugly soul.

    • elaine says:

used to like this woman, now, will never go to see anything she is in. Just wish that judge would give total custody to Gabriel, she is nasty, vindictive, hateful person trying to erase the FATHER from the little girls life. My mother did the same thing to me and I never got over it. Wish she would go to France with her short, ugly boyfriend who has to wear heels to make himself taller N never come back to the U.S.A,

      • autumndaze says:

What will it take for the family court judge to award primary custody to Aubrey and make Berry travel back and forth from France?
Does it ever happen in California?
She is the one choosing to move.
(And the excuse that it is somehow safer there is without merit. All she has to do is move out of Hollyweird.)

    • lucy2 says:

I agree. She seems to be a really horrible person. Good luck, Olivier, you’re going to need it.

Those are the ugliest sandals I’ve ever seen.

  2. Marjalane says:

I can’t believe she said that about O.M. being a great father! Slipping in the, “He makes her feel so “safe”. (because you know her biological father is a MONSTER) If she says stuff like that in an interview, can you imagine what she says to her daughter at home?! “Oh no honey, once Mommy and Oliver get married, he’s your new daddy. It’s the law”

    She is hateful.

    • Bite me says:

      so true

    • mln76 says:

Yup. It’s so wrong and the worst part is when the relationship with Martinez implodes she’ll expect her daughter to hate Olivier too in effect she’s setting her up to lose 2 fathers. I am praying that the courts see through her B.S. and don’t allow her to steal her child from Gabriel.

    • Jayna says:

Uh, it wasn’t a quote from her. It was a source from a rag.

I’m sure, though, she did look at him as to whether he would be good step-father material. He is a protective type of guy. He stayed with the Minogue pop singer all throughout her breast cancer ordeal and was very supportive. I have always liked him for that.

      • SpunkyPR says:

But I also heard he was cheating on her during the whole ordeal, so if that’s the kind of support he offers, than Kylie was better off without him.

      • Tammy says:

Both Olivier and Kylie deny any cheating and they’re still friends, years after they broke up. Kylie doesn’t have a bad word to say about him.

  3. Tanguerita says:

this woman is so ugly inside, she must have a Dorian Gray-style portrait rotting away somewhere in the attic.

  4. Bubbling says:

Those slippers are not possible…fugly monsters

    • autumndaze says:

I believe that story about her whining over Sandra Bullock taking up too much of their hair stylist’s time; her hair looks like crap here.

  5. dorothy says:

It all sounds so nice now, but we all know in a year or so she’ll be screaming how he cheated or he was mean to her….blah, blah, blah. Too bad she’s dragging her child along with her.

    • kit says:

      IA.
She’ll drag Martinez through the mud once its finished and we’ll all be expected to sympathise and feel sorry for her.

    • Liv says:

      Agreed.

Plus she’s dragging her child to France! So selfish of her! It’s so predictable they won’t make it in the long run.

Aaaand if she figures out one should never say never with 46 years it doesn’t let her appear to be very smart!

  6. Leticia says:

In a few years she’ll be telling us that Oliver is an abuser.

  7. Sway says:

How can someone so beautiful can be so spiteful?

  8. Jill says:

At least her outside is finally starting to match her inside based on this fugly-ass outfit.

I have no respect for her. It’s horrible watching someone with her obvious issues raise a young girl that will probably receive little to no support or guidance on how to have a healthy relationship…with anyone.

  9. autumndaze says:

I will NEVER go see another project you are in, Halle.
There. I said never and meant it.

    • Veruca says:

      +1

      • Ell says:

Me too. Beautiful people seem to be able to get with so much but ultimately karma catches up.

    • Aotearovian says:

The good thing is, a lot of people seem to be taking that vow, consciously or not. What and when was her last hit movie? What happened to the film on which she met Olivier? Fork, done, etc. No wonder she has so much time to devote to destroying her child’s future emotional stability.

  10. T.C. says:

Why does she hate her ex do much? He is a good father and doesn’t come across as a douche. Don’t understand. How can you do this to your daughter’s father? Pure selfishness.

    Beautiful woman ugly soul.

  11. Sa11i says:

I used to love Halle but now I cannot stand even hearing about her because of how she is treating her daughter’s father whose only crime is actually wanting to be a part of his daughter’s life. I adore my dad and could not imagine the hatred i’d feel towards my mom if she tried to take him away from me out of spite because fathers have an important role in a child’s life (no matter how much people try to say single parenthood is just as good and/or better, I will never believe it). In fact, every girlfriend I have that has long term man issues (three at the moment) have said they dont trust men because their dads were the first men to screw up in their lives. I hope Gabriel fights her hard on the moving off to another country bit. Nahla will appreciate having a father who fights for her.. Oliver is cosigning on crazy in this situation. yuck.

  12. valleymiss says:

“Never say never, people, especially when you’ve got a custody battle to win!”

  13. biteme says:

still like halle.. there are two sides to every story, and in this case neither party is innocent. I still support her.

  14. I.want.shoes says:

That’s what she wears to promote something? Cause that’s what I wear when I take my toddler to the playground (minus the fug as hell sandals).

  15. Cathy says:

She’s probably only agreed to marry him because it may look better in the eyes of the court with her wanting permission of the court to move to France. She’s just using him.

  16. Agnes says:

she’s so gorgeous, it’s difficult to believe she’s so nutso. haha

  17. skuddles says:

So I take it she’s not concerned about rumors he’s screwing around with his employees… not just one, but two?? Oh well, her problem.

I must say, I’m kind of digging her tunic top and sandals here…

  18. Gene Parmesan says:

i feel like she needs a man to validate who she is. this is a real problem when she realisez that men cannot, should not and will not validate her

  19. lover says:

    halle haters much?

  20. jc126 says:

Selfish narcissist. I now question everything she has said in the past, and every rumor she’s had her publicist said: That David Justice was abusive to her, that Wesley Snipes was abusive to her, etc.

    Horrible person.

  21. Jenna says:

Okay, one…Nahla already has a father or did that little fact manage to slip her mind? And two….good gosh those sandals are fugly!!!

  22. lola8 says:

God, what fugly feet she has. They look like Fred Flintstone feet!

  23. The Original Mia says:

I truly don’t understand what Olivier gets out of all of this. He has to know once this relationship ends that Halle is going to rake him over the coals. That the relationship he has developed with Nahla will be cut off as soon as she puts him out of the house. So why get involved with this narcissistic, venomous woman?

  24. TG says:

We have all said it on here. Can’t stand this crazy narcissist. I too no longer believe anything that comes out of her mouth and I really think her mother is the original culprit. You don’t get this way on your own usually. That being said she is so gorgeous and I love her hair and her casual style, though I don’t like those shoes or those trashy dresses she wears to red carpets. I also like that her and Gabriel’s daughter also dresses sweetly without being frilly. I will never see a movie she does either or buy a product she is shilling. All of her movies are B-List anyway. Didn’t she tell Gabriel that being with this Olivier was just a business arrangement? I would love to move to France though, but I wouldn’t do it the way she is going about it. I would like to think I have more honor than that.

  25. van says:

I often wondered how Olivier could go along with all of Halle’s crazy. Word is that he is the one pressuring her to move to France because he has a “side-piece” there and he is sick and tired of flying back and forth to LA.

  26. Kandace says:

    Her skin IS gorgeous.

One thing I read a long time ago that I’ve never forgotten, is that Halle’s boyfriend’s friends used to call her “Scary Berry” bc she’s so psycho!

  27. j says:

Can not stand her.. always the victim! Boo hoo on Oprah years ago braless no less.. does a hit and run? C**T yes I am a long time hater

  28. bagladey says:

Why did Olivier Martinez open a restaurant in Miami if he and Halle want to move to France? Are they going to have a travelling tutor/nanny for Nahla or will they leave her with the nanny in France while Nahla’s father remains without his daughter in California? Halle is such a treacherous rat snake that we just have to wait for her next dirty, underhanded move.

  29. TG says:

I always feel like a judge in a custody battle should say to women like Halle “If he is such a monster than why did you let him around his child for 3 years or so?” Maybe you should lose custody for allowing the father of your child to be in the same home with both of you for so long. I mean really if he is not qualified to be a father than what was she doing holding his hand in the park and at the zoo with their daughter? If he really is a monster than she shouln’t have custody either for her bad judgment in regards to the welfare of her child.

  30. Shaniqua Nunyadambidness says:

Ugh. Good ole Hal. Even if Gabriel Aubry is an abusive douche with a capital BAG…the well of sympathy regarding her rough life is bone frickin dry. Her daughter is quite lovely, though.

  31. Camille (The original) says:

    *massive eyeroll*

    Ugh. I just can’t with this b*tch.

  32. Michele says:

I’ve really changed my opinion of her after seeing her selfish and ruthless behavior towards Gabriel. Using their child as a tool to get back at him is horrible.

  33. Steve says:

If Gabriel Aubry is so perfect why does he want Halle’s money? And why didn’t Mr.Aubry have a baby with a poor woman, or model or white Canadian, like himself. Wouldn’t a model man look for perfect woman since he is holy and so pure? Yeah right.

  34. Isa says:

I’m amazed at how different her nose looks!
    She has amazing skin!

  35. eli7 says:

Halle’s FOS. Doubt they will ever get married. It all depends on the Family Court Judge’s ruling on Halle’s bogus petition of lies. OM is nothing more than Halle’s rebound relationship of living a lie for almost 5 years about her gay paid ivf sperm donor. Halle just because a guy is straight, got a penis and pulse doesn’t mean he’s marriage material. I wouldn’t want a drunk chain smoking guy around my kid, would you?
