Jennifer Garner in zip-front Michael Kors, gorgeous or kind of a miss?

Jennifer Garner made her second post-baby event appearance last night at Cinemacon. When my son was two months old my idea of dressing up was wearing a big button-down dress shirt and some fancy pants, so I have to give her props for putting on her game face and looking so gorg.

The dress is Michael Kors, as The Fashion Patrol points out. (They also note that the dress retails for $1,495, although I doubt Garner paid for it.) It’s a better fit than the last shapeless D&G shift dress she wore, but that’s not saying much. She looks very pretty and like her last outfit, her hair, makeup and accessories are carrying the look.

Those shoes are bothering me, though. From the side they’re cute, but from the front they look like orthopedic sandals! Some nice wedges would look better than these. They’re probably also Michael Kors, as he has a lot of clunky ass heels like this. I’m a shoe person and I believe you can have both fashion-forward elegance and comfort. You can certainly swing a hotter shoe than this on the red carpet for an hour or two and then slip on some flats for the after party. Her other accessories, like her bangles and earrings, strike just the right balance and I like how she matched the belt buckle with her gold jewelry.

In terms of her hair and makeup, she must have a great team. I also think that involves a dermatologist, but I’m not going to elaborate too much on that because I like her a lot. I’m just thinking that those are not her natural lips, you know?

As we mentioned in our last story on Garner, she took home the award for “Female Star of the Year” at Cinemacon. It seems kind of odd as she only had a couple of films out last year, and just one coming up this year. Some of these awards are just symbolic though.

God, what a mess…and those FEET, omg! Its beyond me how some women will wear open toed shoes without getting a pedicure first. Eww.

    • Celebitchy says:

Actually the natural bare toe look is kind of “in” now. I didn’t think her feet looked unpedicured, it was more like she just wasn’t wearing any obvious polish. It’s the shoes, not her toenails IMO.

      • Justaposter says:

And lookie there, her shoes actually fit. I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate it when celebs squish their feet into shoes and the toes hang over.

  2. Bite me aka aniston says:

    Hollyweird magic gotta love it

  3. brin says:

She looks great…she’s a natural beauty. I don’t care for her shoes but I do like the dress.
These award things are so silly but I love her so, good for her!

  4. Maritza says:

She looks great! Those are her natural lips, their the same size as always.

  5. bea says:

The dress is matronly, stiff, unflattering. Not a fan of the sandals either. (big X’s on top of your feet is not a good thing)

Her face & hair look fantastic – a very beautiful woman.

  6. AudreyS says:

I’m having an issue with her feet too. They don’t look that pedicured, even if it is an “au natural” pedi. But whatever, at least she looks like someone who DID give birth a few months ago.

  7. dappadaph says:

Finally an actress who looks like she’s got 3 kids at home and she actually takes care of them. Could care less about her toes because natural toes are best as a matter of fact, keeping them constantly slathered under laquer and gel aren’t good for them.

  8. bagladey says:

    Too matronly. It’s a miss.

  9. Sue says:

    Think she looks great!

  10. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Whatever, she looks fantastic. That face! Whatever she is doing to still look that pretty and natural, she should just keep doing it.

  11. Katie says:

The shoes are awful and something about the length looks almost matronly.

    • anon33 says:

Half agree. I think that if the dress were just above knee level the shoe would work better.

  12. Embee says:

She’s awesome. Looks exhausted, as one would with three kids. I’m not going to butcher her and analyze body parts as though she was meat fro slaughter, but I will say she is a lovely, lovely woman.

  13. SJ says:

Regarding orth. footwear, please be kind. Maybe her feet have spread so much from the pregnancies that she can’t fit into her regular width shoes. Even wearing extra-broad high heels after my first was a major achievement for me as my feet had got so wide.

    • Brigitte says:

Well gosh, maybe she could shuffle in with house slippers on. My point being, she has money to buy a pair of both wider than usual and ATTRACTIVE shoes for a red carpet event. I think when a stylist doesn’t dress her, this is what we get.

  14. annabelle says:

I am a long time fan of hers, so I hope it is a very understandable tiredness I am seeing in her eyes and not the sadness it seems to me to be.

  15. Ginger says:

Even if the natural look is “in” for your toes, I can’t stand going without polish especially if I’m wearing open toed shoes. It just makes me feel pretty and put together. However, Jennifer looks amazing and her figure is great considering she just had a baby! I love her glowing skin and freckles. Her hair and makeup certainly make this look.

  16. Dee Cee says:

She just made re-acquaintance with her feet.. see the smile and twinkle in her eye.. Happy wife and mom..

  17. hopperlea says:

She looks great and she just had a baby so she get a major pass no matter what. Her face looks spotty especially around the end of her eyebrows which if probably from pregnancy hormones. That is where they usually are. It feel good that she is a normal post-pregnancy mom.

  18. katie says:

I don’t hate the dress, though I do feel that it makes her look a little bigger than she is. The shoes are tragic. Too clunky and thick. Still, JG is gorgeous and seems like a lovely person, so she gets a pass on this one.

  19. Nan209 says:

The dress sags in all the wrong places. She just had a baby so I get that you don’t want form fitted but it should accent the right things not the wrong. Frankly I hate most of the shoes that are in fashion these days…too porn star hooker clunky if you ask me. Now I don’t do pedis because I’m budget like that but if you’re a star you have to attend to these kinds of details. Having said all those disparaging things Jennifer has a BEAUTIFUL face and natural look that I like.

  20. TXCinderella says:

She is a mom of three now, so I’m sure she wanted comfort, but I’ve seen cuter Aerosoles and Naturalizers than those hideous things she has on her feet. They would have looked somewhat better had she painted her toenails.

  21. lizbet says:

    K. Stew face in that last photo!

  22. Susan says:

A really naturally beautiful woman who just seems to always go for the matronly look…the shoes are horrible, the dress puffing out at the hips… Just not flattering at all. She does seem really comfortable in her own skin though, and that’s admirable for a Hwood actress.

  23. ay ay ay says:

JA is real sweetheart I mean in her outside nature that you see on tv when she talks and that. I got to give her that. But she is horrible when it comes to dressing up even for simple things. I don’t understand how they allowed her to do those comercials on tv about glamour and make up and girly stuff…
She looks horrible everyday here is not excetpion . The whole thing is tacky she looks like a grandma trying to look hype in that outfit with her body figure. The hair is so bad. If I was her with that toe nail I would NOT wear a shoe like that. I wear a shoe that won’tshow my nails. She can’t even trim her toe nails evenly she is terrible all around.
As I think v.Beckham is way tooooo obsessed with her cloths( eventhough she has clothing line) Jennifer is the exact opposit of her followed by k. Holmes. You can do fine without looking both kind of exterims people and ugly mess.

  24. A Fan says:

Whatever she’s done to her hair and make-up is sure working – she looks beautiful. So nice to see a celebrity with the right haircut/color/style and make-up to perfectly compliment her features and natural coloring. Love the freckles, too!

  25. Hm says:

Happy and radiant. Best look in years! I think the shoes might be meant to balance out the heavier legs. The dress is as form-fitting as possible while skimming over leftover baby weight.

  26. Kosmos says:

I really like her, always have; however, I’m not crazy about this dress on her or the shoes for that matter. She can really look good, she is beautiful, has a lovely face and gorgeous features. Those are her real lips! But this outfit doesn’t do anything for her, and the shoes are a bit overpowering and just not right for some reason. I’ve see her in other glammy styles, though, and she can look great….

  27. hina says:

Her and Ben are the few celebrity couples that you know will last forever and are normal, not fake. She looks stunning considering she just had the baby.

  28. lps says:

Those are her natural lips. Have you ever seen a photo of her mother or sister? Those puppies run in the family!

  29. Amy Nourkrin says:

I really admire that Jennifer seems like such a real, good hands-on mom on top of the career she has. The dress looks great imo.
