Hilary Duff had her teeth shortened

Everyone’s been making fun of Hilary Duff’s too-long veneers since she got them installed last year, and Gallery of the Absurd even did a an hilarious illustration of her as a horse. (Thanks Farkers for correctly my crap grammar.) Now Life and Style cites a cosmetic dentist who claims that she had her teeth shortened recently:

“The length of each veneer was a little too long, and the width of the smile was too wide,” Dr. Michael Apa, dentist to the stars and Elite Model Management consultant, says of Hil’s smile, which cost the star at least $15,000.

The work was meant to improve her smile, but “it made her look goofy, like she was bucktoothed,” Apa says.

That was until Nov. 5, when the star flashed a more familiar smile, which made her look as if she’d had a visit from the tooth fairy!

“She probably had her teeth recontoured or reshaped to fit her smile,” says Apa of Hil’s smaller, narrower smile. “Now you look at her cute smile rather than focusing on her large teeth. She looks much prettier!”

Good for Hilary. She looks a lot younger with the smaller teeth and darker hair, but that could also be due to the cute cap she’s wearing.

Thanks to Faded Youth for the story.

  1. It looks to me that the picture is at a slightly different angle and that the smile in the after is not nearly as big or real a smile as the one in the before picture. I think that only more pictures will tell.

  4. I attribute her looking better in the second pic to her gaining weight. She was a little nicole ricci in that first pic. yeesh. She is still very thin but doesn’t look as scary in the second pic.

  7. I think she looks better, but enough with the globbed-on black eyemakeup already. It looks cried/slept in.

  10. I prefer her smile in the first pic. Her smile is brilliant and v eye catching. She’s just a bit thin in that first photo hence it accentuating her teeth. I think she looks common as muck in that second photo, dark hair doesnt suit her at all, and its a revolting shade of brunette.

  12. Your grammar was actually correct in the first place. It’s only “an” with a word starting with h if the h is silent like honor or hour. If you hear the h like like “there’s a height difference” you use a.

Just thought you should know you were right [and apparently having English as a second major during undergrad was useful for a few things] ^_^

  14. I didn’t think the veneers looked bad- she was just too thin. I do think that with the big teeth and being too skinny she looked like kylie- but I think gaining weight was all that was really needed. The smaller teeth do make her look younger and more “cute” but I don’t think she really looks better- just different.

Oh, and with the a or an either can be correct depending on how you say hilarious. Was the person who corrected you from England or Australia? If you say the H you use a if you don’t say the H you would use an.
