Duchess Kate wears teal Jenny Packham, actually pulls back her hair: amazing?

These are new photos of Duchess Kate and Prince William today (tonight) in London for the British Olympic Association Concert. Kate is wearing this Jenny Packham number which… hm… I don’t really dislike. I can’t say I’m in love with it, but I do think it’s mostly good. Great color, love the pleated skirt, love the fit. I feel like Kate didn’t want to show too much skin, and seeing as how Kate LOVES LACE (along with buttons), she asked Packham to cover the back in both lace and buttons. I wish we had access to photos of the back, but we don’t – go here to see it from behind. There are literally two dozen buttons on Kate’s back. Girl, sit down. This is a button intervention. UPDATE: BAM!! Buttons.

What else? The shoes are Jimmy Choo – I think they’re the same ones from earlier this week, when Kate wore the white Roland Mouret. Once again, the Duchess is without pantyhose!! OMG.

But really, we just need to talk about her hair. Can you even believe your eyes? Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, in an evening gown with a completely appropriate and elegant chignon?!?!?!? WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE REAL WAITY?!?!!? As I’ve said before, THIS is what she should be doing more of. Look at how beautiful she looks! I feel like we’re seeing her for the first time, this tall, elegant, regal duchess. And you know we have to praise her whenever she does something right – good job, girl. Keep it up. Literally! Keep your hair up and out of your face. You’re 30 years old, you don’t need a hairy security blanket.

    Hurray for the hair!!!

Dress is a FAIL. The pleats and the puffiness make it seem as though she borrowed Alicia Key’s thunder thighs for the occasion.

  2. Maria_Spain says:

Guilty:i love the hair and dress 😀

    • I really like the dress but I think the chest area should have a little more covered up. For some reason, the over-exposure makes her breast look droopy.

      • autumndaze says:

I like both her hair and dress, as well. Her breasts need some foundation garment support.

    • Cherry says:

@Maria: So do I. LOVE the hair AND the dress, I think she looks stunning. I wish I had a haidresser who could make my hair look like that, braided and all. It’s just so chique and princessy. Also: I particularly like the color of this dress. Kate usually wears dark, severe colors. This one’s just so fresh and summery.

    • LeManda says:

Me too!!!! I LOVE the dress. I think it’s the most beautiful dress she has ever worn. I really finally see her as royalty. I love the whole complete look.

I hope one day I could try this dress on! Get on it cheap knock-off makers!

    • DrM says:

      she looks fantastic….

  3. MissilePanda says:

I like it, its better than hair touching every 3 seconds

  4. psu says:

another day another party, just a glorified party trash

    • Hmmm says:

Agreed. Her hair does look good, but so what? They are still grindingly boring and lazy party animals. I figure they fancy themselves celebrities. She’s nothing but a WAG and he’s elite eurotrash. Big deal.

And no, she is not regal. You actually have to have a personality for that. And a spine. And good posture.

Oh, and though the dress is pretty, it would truly be pretty on a pretty and feminine woman. Waity is manly looking, the sporty type. This does not flatter her, and it’s like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Plus, she’s showing too much skin. She is not sexy, no matter how hard she tries. But I betya Willy loves it!

      • autumndaze says:

Holy crap that is a lot of venom; that comment takes the bitchy to a whole new level.

      • Hmmm says:

        @autumndaze,

She’s a vapid, empty waste of space. Hope that takes it to an even higher level.

      • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

wow Hmmm! what do you expect? She’s a princess for god’s sake. You think smart gorgeous talented accomplished women grow up wanting to be PRINCESSES in this day and age? The cream of the crop of women in no way want to put up with that controlling shit. You are expecting WAYYY too much from her.

      • DrM says:

amazing…what an vitriolic comment…how would you know? Hiding behind your keyboard so you can spew your venom…how edifying your comments are…jealous and nasty much?

    • L says:

It’s not ‘just a party’. It’s the olympic association event. Which William and Kate are patrons of. So they are obligated to be there.

    • Sca says:

Not “just another party” It’s the british olympic association event. Which they are patrons of and obligated to appear at. Honestly half the ‘parties’ they go to are charity events that as royals they are required to attend.

But yea…way to be mean spirited.

  5. IrishEyes says:

I honestly don’t mind the dress. That said… who knew she had CHEEKBONES!?!?!?!

    • zoey says:

who knew she had cheekbones lol good point!! her dress and hair is nice now only if she would change that eye makeup its ridiculous!

  6. tmbg says:

Wowzers! I think she looks amazing! I wouldn’t wear the dress as it isn’t my style, but she pulls it off really well. And her hair looks great too.

  7. Emma says:

She looks absolutely stunning! I’ve always gotten serious creep-vibes from Prince William though…

    • fairy godmother says:

Curious- what creepy vibe do get with Willie?

      • Emma says:

I don’t really know why. Maybe it’s because he’s got blue/gray eyes and in pictures people with light-coloured eyes can look a little… cray-cray? I have a light eye colour myself and in most pictures I look like a serial killer. I do enjoy him in interviews though, he’s very well-spoken and seems quite nice, but idk, I’ve always felt that something’s just a bit off with him.

    • iseepinkelefants says:

The only time I’ve ever gotten creep vibe from his was when he posed for a picture with some Brazilian student and snuck in a tit grab. The girl he posed with was even a bit stunned.

I certainly don’t get the Diana by extension love. If anything I’ve heard he’s a douche (typical public school boy), but never anything about him being a creep. Maybe it’s his social awkwardness that gives that vibe (he does seem terribly shy).

  8. P.J. says:

OK, you guys were right! The up-do is incredible!! Kate’s hair is so perfect I didn’t believe it could get any better, but this style is quite flattering to her, and very elegant for the occasion.

Love the detail on the dress also.

  9. layla says:

    Thank GOODNESS!

    No hair touching!
No ridiculous mass of hair in/on her face.
    No hair touching….again!

Seriously, there is no reason she can not mix up her hairstyles for all events.

btw… she TOTALLY reads the gossip blogs.
People complain about her lack of show p0rn, VOILA, these Snooki like heels appear.
People complain about her hair touching/hair out problem, VOILA, gorgeous up do.

Waity… are you bored of simply waiting and shopping? 😉

  10. Suz says:

Teal is my least favorite color ever, but I will say this for the Duchess, she can wear almost any color at all. She looks great in this (although the styling is a bit fussy for my taste.)

BUT the hair! I love it. Elegant. Appropriate. Gorgeous. It is like seeing her for the first time.

  11. ladybert62 says:

I like the style of the dress – dont like the color. Dont like her hair.

  12. Sloane Wyatt says:

Only Karen Carpenter and the Duchess Kate look good in pleats!

  13. lil ole me says:

Perfection! Now stop with the heavy black undereye liner. She doesn’t need heavy makeup of any kind imo

    • autumndaze says:

      THIS.
She and Mila Kunis need to step away from the kohl pencil under eye liner.

  14. Mirella says:

I’m so in love with that dress.

  15. fairy godmother says:

This is honestly the 1st time I can say her hair looks incredible- and w/ long earrings!!!
She has to be following comments because most could not stand her drab hairstyle!
This is how she should look & make-up was professionally done.
The dress color is spot on for her, but the style does not flatter her figure imo (dress is overdone because too many things going on- lace, pleating, goofy bow in back w/ flashy sash, buttons; dress is like Cybil- choose 1 or 2 features to highlight).
This is how she should present herself. Now if she will only do charitable work that is meaningful & contributes to other people’s lives while less indulgence on her own with on a regular basis & not the galas/premieres/balls..
I actually have hope for her! Cannot believe I feel that way. Well done!

    • CookieJar says:

I agree with every word in your comment. The first time I feel that there is hope 🙂

Also, hair style improvement this year, maybe the eyeliner in the next?? who knows!

      • layla says:

One thing at a time… let’s not over burden poor Kate with too much too soon! 😉

      • fairy godmother says:

It was the 1st time I was excited for her appearance- even did not mind extra braids from extensions weaved in.
I have never been an admirer/fawner of her.
Mostly because of her past & personality or lack thereof (which apparently cannot be bought).
Now she will deserve a vacation- ha ha ha!
In a few weeks Waity will shadow HM for a tea party- so will have to keep an eye out to see her next effort.
Sadly, I always seem to play a game when I see a pic of her I call it “where’s the scar” (like where’s Waldo).
It seems to shift slightly or vanish.

      • Nancy Blue says:

PLEASE don’t let her give another speech with that ghastly false ‘posh’ accent. Many who knew her in her earlier days say she spoke in an ordinary not striving to be ‘upmarket’ voice.

People liked her because she had relations like the ‘Maison Bang Bang’ Uncle Gary and is said to come from coal miners stock.

    • apsutter says:

She looks gorgeous! I usually don’t care for her jewelry because it’s usually so boring and blah but those earrings are stunning!

    • LAK says:

The only thing that really bugs, but I am old fashioned, is knowing she’s had ‘princess lessons’ and she still doesn’t know how to exit a car elegantly. There are pictures on other sites where you see her do her usual crotch shot exit. Really, but for the length of this dress we are always up in her underwear situation.

Honestly, where does one sign a petition that she will notice like she’s done with this outfit??!!!

  16. Alti says:

    OMG it´s a wonder!!!!

I have the feeling Kate started reading the articles abaut herself…
now she chooses more modern shoes (criticism N. Kirkwood?) and pulls her hair back! Still shocked 🙂

Her eyebrows look a little bit different, too.

🙂 OMG she pulls her hair back. SHOCKING 😉

Don´t like the dress, the colour is super but this lace etc. is terrible. Typically Boring-Kate-no-curves-style.

    Her hair looks fantastic!!!

    William´s tux looks awful (always).

    • fairy godmother says:

Yeah- what is up with that out dated tux? And Harry wears the same style- did they get a buy one get one free?
Tailoring/fit is off. And he just wore this tux at the “secret” dinner a few days ago.

      • Alti says:

yes, buy one get one free 🙂
        My thoughts exactly!

pic2 (and 6): he needs a new tux, quickly!

  17. Embee says:

She looks like a grown-up! And a beautiful one at that! Love the nude lip, too.

She reminds me of Linda Carter with her hair up.

    So lovely.

  18. Miffy says:

    PRAISE JESUS!!!
Seriously, there’s something about a grown woman touching her hair the whole time that just irks me. She and Jennifer Aniston may as well be twirling their hair, head tilted to one side, blowing bubble gum.
Hair touching phobia cure aside, she has the face to pull up-do’s off. She needs to stop hiding behind that half ton of hair when it’s loose.

  19. zoehart says:

She looks really, really lovely. The color is so nice on her. She should dress like this, and put her hair up, more often.

  20. benny says:

You know, if she had white hair, she would look like Camilla – the beady eyes with premature bags under them; thin lips; almost-but-not-quite cleft chin.

But to give Camilla credit, I don’t think she ever packed on the pancake make-up like Kate.

    • Nancy Blue says:

Or as some say Wallace Simpson altho personally think Pippa is the doppleganger.

Poor Willie, totally overshadowed by Kate and an appallingly bad and tasteless speech referring to being shot! How bad is that after Pippa’s gun gate? Speechwriters and PR’s need sacking IMO

    • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

Camilla was never a pretty girly girl like Kate. She was always a horse person–that’s what attracted Chuckles in the first place.
And good call, I can also see the severe Wallace Simpson look in Kate–the thin lips and strained smile. Very interesting…

  21. flower says:

    The Hair! yay.

The dress would have looked more svelt and classic without the superfluous prom sleevelets but otherwise good.

  22. sup says:

    meh.

  23. Feebee says:

I think the hair up softens the dark eyeliner as her face is more open. This is good. Actually lessening the eyeliner would be the next step….

  24. original almond says:

Finally, it’s happened and she looks amazing and mature. I even love the dress, but definitely not the shoes. A step in the right direction.
Now if she only stopped vacationing every three minutes and took up a serious charity…

  25. jamie says:

Wow. One of her best looks yet.

  26. Jaxx says:

The hair is perfection. Her face looks so elegant with her hair pulled up and away. I think she should always wear it up for formal occasions.

  27. Amy says:

Well I for one love teal. I wore a teal dress to a wedding last weekend and I got lots of comments on the color and the dress.

She looks amazing here–the dress, the shoes, the hair. She just radiates confidence (no hair playing) and she is wearing the dress, not the other way around. I think she wore the hair up so people could see the lace design on the back but hopefully she wears it up more often!

    • casey says:

lol.she also has thin lips but i like her height.she is tall and lean.

    • original almond says:

Ah, the always sexy and alluring sternum. Who doesn’t want to flaunt that?

That’s how you know a bitch is starving herself; you start seeing protruding bones in the oddest of places and I can’t wrap my mind around how someone would want to look like that.

The only two times when I looked like that I was working like a maniac on BA and MA thesis. I felt like death warmed over and this chick is doing that to herself deliberately. SMH

      • geekychic says:

THIS!!! she looks like she’s starving herself/manhandling her body, and I’m actually a bit sad that media promote this as “lean and sporty” type.
The difference between Kate 5 years ago and today is what gives it off: She had a normal body-and then thinnification started.
I’d except that William would help her or try to intervene-his own mother suffered from eating disorder.

  28. claire says:

I think she looks amazing! Love the dress, love the color, love the hair. It’s about darn time she put it up! Now, if someone could just get her to stop with the eyeliner that makes her face look so hard. Her whole makeup look always looks old, like last night’s makeup, rather than fresh and radiant.

  29. celine says:

    perfectly stunning.

  30. cd says:

simple, classic and yet a strong modern look – i like it, and love the colour

  31. anonymoose says:

The hair is an improvement, the dress is princess-worthy, but she MUST STOP with the hard declasse eyeliner.

With the eyeliner she just looks so DIY and off.

  32. Intercontinental says:

That slamming she received by from that fashion guru earlier this week must have been one hell of a wake up call!!

  33. Amanda_M87 says:

She looks so pretty with her hair back. She should wear it like that more often!

  34. Belle says:

LOVE the hair! The color of the dress is pretty, but the dress itself is way too busy… pleats, lace, buttons, bows, crystals… too much.

  35. iseepinkelefants says:

She might want to make a return trip to her plastic surgeon. I thought she had gotten rid of her bags last year during the engagement but they seem to have returned. Can’t imagine how she could have those considering she doesn’t do anything (she has plenty of time to sleep).

Even though I hate to admit it the lace/dress is very pretty (though the color reminds me of these wedding dye shoes my mum had in the 80’s). Shame about the no chest. A slight b cup would have made it very pretty and feminine (yes you can have boobs and still pull off a low top without looking tarty. You just can’t have anything bigger than a c).

  36. tmbg says:

Other than what I said above about her looking fantastic (and BTW, I don’t mind her hair down either because if I had a thick head of healthy hair like that, I’d wear it down a lot too), I do have one downer comment. I wish she’d ditch the engagement ring and wear just her wedding band. The ring is so gaudy and huge.

    *dodges flying tomatoes*

    • Kim says:

OMG! The ring is to die for!!! Its the best part of every outfit she wears plus it has such special meaning behind it.

      • tmbg says:

I guess it’s the minimalist in me, but I wouldn’t want to have a huge rock on my finger like that. Something more delicate would look better.

But I do understand that it has special meaning.

    • LaTiDa says:

I absolutely agree. I’m not sure if it was considered beautiful or stylish back in the 80’s, but it is tacky as hell. I have always wondered how disappointed Kate must have been when that baby was pulled out of the box. Not the bling you imagine when you marry a prince.

    • Anne says:

The second she stops wearing it, even if she is wearing the wedding band, people are going to criticize her for that as well. And there will be relentless speculation about the meaning behind it.

  37. taxi says:

    A+++ for the hair.

    dress color A
    dress back B+
    dress front C-
    Fug sleeve D

  38. Anguishedcorn says:

I was all ready to give it a resounding YES until I saw those things on her feet. Again with the stripper shoes…

However, love the hair pulled back and the color of the dress.

  39. Kim says:

Beautiful dress on her and I LOVE the hair up!

I do wish she would lose the heavy black eyeliner.

  40. casey says:

i don’t like her hair.it makes her look matronly.she look old with that hair.it is for older woman.i don’t know but i really never find her beautiful. Her face is just average.i like her dress, btw.

    • kobielauren says:

i agree…. she looks different and pulled together which is good. but i think the reason why she almost never wears it up is because it make her face look so harsh! and very manly

i also don’t think she looks very confident or happy here. tired and terribly thin, look at her arms in the second last picture :/

anyways, her long hair is annoying and inappropriate and i do think she looks younger and happier with it down

    • Henry says:

True. I never liked her with her hair up cause she looks really old and mannish with it. her hair down is good but only if she could find a way to pin them away from her face.

her dress is nice. probably the nicest i’ve seen her in. i like the detailing at the back and the lacey thing around the chest and shoulders. pity she doesn’t have boobs – i’m sure this dress was meant to be sexy but i don’t feel any sexy vibes from her

in fact, she looked distracted and tired. and her posture is horrible. this is one reason i can never call her “regal”. she just doesn’t have the personality.

now hopefully, she would follow all these up with solid charity work.

  41. apsutter says:

She looks damn good! Thank God she pulled her hair back. I don’t know why she doesn’t do it more often, it makes her look so much more sophisticated. I love how it’s a little bouffant in the front.

  42. Lushus L. says:

I love her dress and I love her hair! She really looks like a princess–even though she’s a duchess. Yeah!

  43. Vera says:

I really like everything about this dress and look for her. I’d seen pictures on tumblr of the dress in a cooler lighting (maybe indoors? I don’t really know – but it was a different set than these) and it looks even better. Her hair is lovely. Even her makeup looks alright (it never really looks bad, but it looks appropriate to have the full eyeliner here).

    • bluhare says:

Daily Mail has it. It’s a mint green and the front vee is down to the waist. Kate had hers altered or it’s been custom made for her. No way she could go out in the original neckline. Aside from being like me with not enough boob to keep it in place, it would be So Not Done.

  44. Jen34 says:

She looks beautiful. I like the dress except for the sleeve. I really like the back of the dress and the color.

  45. Jenna says:

I LOVE the dress! So gorgeous! 🙂

  46. TheOriginalVictoria says:

He completely ruins everything with that balding hair.

She looks so beautiful and normally she just looks basic. The hair is perfect. I like the dress in theory. I love the color, I don’t love the lace. If she wants to cover up get a nice solid material and go to town with it.

  47. apsutter says:

It’s sad that he’s losing his hair. I think that shows that their aren’t any viable ways to stop baldness when even Prince William can’t stop it.

    • riri says:

Perhaps he is embarrassed to use laser treatments or anything else because his provacy would be probably invaded.

    • tmbg says:

Well, he could do a Jon Gosselin and get plugs, but even after those Jon was still thin on top (but better). It’s an ugly procedure though.

Then there’s Minoxidil, which my dad tried and had no luck with. It seems like if you do grow some hair from it, it’s just very fine hair. You’re not going to get a full mane while using it.

And then there are the laser combs, which even InStyle said you’d have maybe a little growth from, but nothing amazing. For them to say that, it must be true. They usually pimp everything in sight in that magazine.

Stuff like Nioxin could plump his hair up a bit, but I don’t think he cares about that sort of thing.

  48. riri says:

She looks amazing. The color is gorgeous, however the neckline/ cleavage is way too low. Sorry- that discounts the classic appeal of the dress.

The second mistake is that the cut/belt is too high, which creates the illustion of a problem with the proportions of her body and makes the hips look bigger.

Not that that’s a problem since Kate lacks any curves and is stick thin, but it’s still wrong.

Other than that she looks amazing.
The hair looks really lovely and elegant and to my surprise, she still looks pretty even when her hair is pulled down.
I was a big supporter of her curls/ waves.

Very well done. Kate has an incredible sense of style.

  49. georgiapeach says:

Ok first off..ADORE the hair, not just love but adore. When I saw the pics on another site I actually thought “Wow! She’s gorgeous!”

Now secondly…I actually like the dress as well. To me it actually seems to make her look a little less thin and while I couldn’t pull that color off she did it well!

All in all I must say A+++ for Waity! She actually won this round 🙂

  50. Emily says:

Waity owned this! Well done Kate!

  51. aud says:

    she looks gorgeous

I would like the dress a lot more if it was maybe 1-2 inches shorter. It seems too long, like it’s dragging

  52. Reece says:

    She has a face!!! *floored*
This honestly the best she has ever looked, including the wedding day. For that I will leave the nitpicks for another day.

Now if only somebody would get Will a new tuxedo. Anybody?

  53. Mouse says:

Much better! Love this hairstyle on her and the dress is pretty too.

  54. daisydoodle says:

I know I’m showing my age, but I remember Diana started growing her hair out and, God forbid, she put her hair up!! Scandalous!!! The papers/media thought she looked matronly and too royal…whatever, nobody’s ever happy….thought Kate looked nice.

  55. Kitty says:

    She is unbelievably beautiful.

  56. The Original Mia says:

She looks nice. The hair is an improvement. The dress is pretty. That’s about it. Nothing extraordinary or fashion forward. Just nice.

  57. Polly says:

I think she is very good and also the style of the earrings is nice, but seem to be the usual “costume jewelry”. I wonder if there’s a reason, besides the economic times that we live, so she almost never wears the crown jewels. She isn’t the wife of the heir to the throne, as was Diana, but the other female family members wear them routinely, especially for formal occasions. Would be appropriate for events like today. I wonder why?

  58. bettyrose says:

That hair is very elegant and very princess-y. I hope she sees these pictures and has a hair-epiphany. I understand her commitment to flowing locks, though. I have hair that people often comment reminds them of Sarah Jessica Parker (just the hair, thank goodness), and I feel weird wearing it up. Like, my crown of frizzy curls defines me. But an updo is more elegant for nearly any woman.

  59. jasmine says:

    holy cow!finally,some edge!she looks AMAZING!!!!!!

  60. Mauibound says:

Waity looks lovely!!! The hair is gorgeous!!!!!!

  61. JB says:

    Underwhelmed, per usual.

  62. khaveman says:

She looks elegant here. I envy any woman whose hair can do THAT. Lovely arrangment. Superb. I agree that I like the back of the dress more than the front. Very pretty color.

  63. kristiner says:

I know flat chested women wear low cut stuff but this dress just isn’t flattering to her chest.

The cleavage is way too spaced apart. Had it been closer and not shown just how little boobs she has it would have worked.

Her hair? GORGEOUS. The girl has a pretty face when we can actually see it.

Maybe William likes her hair down so much because he’s losing his.

But Kate PLEASE keep putting your hair up.

  64. Camille (The original) says:

    She looks lovely.

  65. Lucky Charm says:

WIN on all counts! I really like the dress (love the color!) and her hair not only looks great, but makes her look younger, I guess since you can see her face? I’m surprised she’s going without pantyhose again, it seemed like she was required to wear them everywhere, lol.

  66. Christine says:

Catherine my dear, thank you for finally putting together a new look, thanks to finally doing something different with your hair.
Now if you could just cut it just a little by adding more layers, but keeping it essentially long, you will really show your maturity and sex appeal.

Well done Duchess! I’m proud of you.

  67. Nessie says:

    She looks breathtaking…….

“You’re 30 years old, you don’t need a hairy security blanket.”

Thank you for that, very funny!

  68. pato says:

    wow!!!! she looks amazing!!

  69. teehee says:

Doesnt have a wow factor- honestly nothing aout her has had the wow factor, and it might not ever. Some people have it, some people dont…

But I will say she does look more flattered by lighter hairdos- a med-short, rounded cut would frame her face so much better and appear very refreshing and chic, compared to thick, heavy and dark locks. Especially when she has such a wiry frame — her hair should “fit in” better, IMO. When I saw this do, I instantly saw the haircut that would suit her and bring her whole appearance into harmony…

  70. Mrs.Darcy says:

I agree the updo is a refreshing look and an improvement on what was becoming repetitive. That said, also agree with it being matronly(ish). Just a little more unkempt/looser would have looked softer, anything to soften those hard kohl rimmed eyes! The dress is a pretty colour and makes her look so much more alive than that putty colour people were raving about last week. Other than that it is a bit fussy with the pleats/lace/buttons combo but such progress overall don’t want to nitpick.

  71. JulieM says:

The hair looks quite nice and has a vintagy flair which goes with the dress.

The dress is way too low cut for someone who is flat chested, though. Both Waity and Pippy show off too much chest and non existent cleavage. Must have been one of Mamma Carole’s rules for bagging a rich husband.

She needs to dump the cheesy shoes. Otherwise, good effort on Waity’s part.

    • Scarlet Vixen says:

I actually completely disagree–I think the only women who should wear low-cut stuff are small/flat-chested women. Especially in this type of setting I find tons of cleavage in a formal gown to be incredibly tacky. I’m a DD myself, so I’m always jealous of flat-chested women who don’t have to worry about ‘locking & loading’ the girls and can get away with such low cut, delicate styles.

      • JulieM says:

I do agree with you up to a point. Guess that means I’m disagreeing with myself! Someone up thread said it best; this kind of low cut neckline looks best with a B-C cup size. I agree that a DD would be spilling out all over this dress and it would be very unattractive. However, Waity is so flat chested that this type of neckline really emphasizes her skeletal rib structure and extreme thinness, which I find equally unattractive.

I’m looking at this from the opposite direction from you. I’m maybe a small B, so I have different issues than you do. There was a time I would have killed to have your DD. Now that I’m, ahem, older, I’m actually grateful that I’m not large chested. Gravity keeps getting stronger!

  72. KLO says:

Kate looks awesome. The only thing wrong with this picture is William’s unpressed suit with too-short pants. He looks pretty haggard. And we all know he can look pretty hot with a little effort.

  73. Mara says:

I think she look stunning ,very elegant and the hair is very nice .

  74. miriam says:

I actually love this. I’ve always liked teal/turquoise/blue colours, so this dress would catch my eye anyway. I think she looks terrific.

  75. Mich says:

For the first time in recent (maybe ever) memory, this 30 year old woman looks like an adult!

From the waist down, I hate the dress. In the pictures here, the slightest wind gives the appearance of thunderous thighs and we know she is a twig. Waist up, I like the buttons. It is Downton Abbey ‘old school’ from a time that people of means had other people around to help them dress.

But the hair! Hooray! It is gorgeous! I have hair as long as hers and as thick as hers (without a weave). One the perks of good thick hair is that you can do lots of fun things with it and with her bank account and time it is about time she found this out.

Please, please, please, let us see less of the Princess with her hair down. I prefer ‘my’ royalty to look regal.

  76. GoodCapon says:

I don’t like the front – it looks like her bra is peeking out. Other than that though, I think the dress is gorgeous.

And Waity could get away with wearing V-neck dresses because she has zero boobs at all.

  77. Me says:

She’s gorgeous. I think with the addition of 15 lbs she’d be just breathtaking. I actually like her quite a bit! I think she is humble enough to be nervous when out in public and that is why she fidgets, pulls strange faces and has awkward posture.

  78. Laura says:

I saw this on the news this morning here in England, and I looked up at the TV thinking ‘oh I’m sure she’ll havr the same old hair everywhere’ and bam, she mixed it up! Methinks someone in the Royal Family is reading this site and taking note!!!

  79. Ash says:

Maybe the rumors about Angelina Jolie being obsessed with her are true becuz she and Angelina are skinny as hell. I don’t care how elegant she is suppose to look. Can someone please feed her? As a future queen she should have enough money to feed herself.

    • sup says:

it would be the other way around. angelina had been sporting the dark long hair and the extreme skinniness for way longer than waity.

  80. Ash says:

If we are blaming Brad for Angelina’s weight loss why not blame William for Kate’s. This girl had a figure before having the stress that came with being a princess. I’m not so stuck up their asses becuz they are royalty that I can’t see that this woman doesn’t eat.

  81. angelina says:

I love everything apart from the make-up. Dress: style, color, fit are goreous! Hair: nice change! Make-up is too hard looking..imho

  82. lucy2 says:

LOVE the hair. Really like the dress on her too – probably wouldn’t choose it for myself with all the lace, but it’s a great look on her.

  83. Manuela10 says:

cant say anything except she isnt real future queen and looks old. much more older. i think william could find much more better.

    • Nancy Blue says:

There are apparently millions around the world who agree that she is totally inappropriate for a future Queen Consort and that it is the beginning of the end of the Monarchy.

  84. Fab says:

I agree Kate you look a Billion Dollars.

But we want to see Kate do more then look a billion Dollars.

  85. jes_sayin says:

I give her credit for putting her hair up- nice to see a change..

But, as usual, her whole look is SO BORING and matronly.

  86. Ramona Q says:

Kate must have an official royal gossip reader who read that article about her long hair in “The Mail” last week. Or who read the post on this site about that article. The timing on this updo is just … funny.

    • Nancy Blue says:

Also Enclave24 – an intelligent, well argued and thought provoking site

      • bluhare says:

I hardly ever go looking around when people say to, but I did this time, and it looks like an entertaining site. I bookmarked it. Thanks!

  87. twoblues says:

Great hair! I don’t love the dress, but that color on her is lovely.

  88. L says:

Love it. And I’ve seen that Jenny Packham dress on the runway. It comes with the lace bolero, so Kate didn’t have her add it.

I think she thinks of wearing her hair up as more casual. Hence why she’ll have it up when in casual wear (e.g. after zara’s wedding, when they are out on the water), which is silly-but I know plenty of girls that think that way. Has anyone see the pictures of kate when volunteering with the scouts (and with puppy no less)? THAT’s her best look in my opinion. I don’t think she really wants to be a fashion girl, but is more comfortable in jeans and a puffy vest.

  89. Ali says:

I think she looked absolutely beautiful – love the dress(especially the back)love the colour of it, and LOVE the hair!! Well done YRH!!!
And BTW, Ignore all the negative comments – we’re behind you!

  90. Laura says:

William has massive horse-face…don’t find him attractive at all…even when he was younger (back when he had pony-face! lol) i still did not get his appeal. Catherine is ok. I don’t think she is a natural beauty but with makeup and pretty clothes she looks alright. Not a fan of this teal dress or her hair but at least it’s something different from her usual look.

  91. LAK says:

Please nitpickers, as kaiser said, we must praise her for any and all improvements. Let’s not scare the horses. Well done waity.

This was the global DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH YOUR HAIR protest around the world (gossip blogs and interested parties edition) that was heard around the world from the ‘secret’ dinner.

Can we do several protests for make-up, weight, shoes, clothing and most importantly work that isn’t just about galas!!!

    • bluhare says:

Does that boy scout thing count?

I’m not as anti-Kate as you are, but you’ve got points, except apparently I like stripper shoes because I don’t see anything wrong with those sandals. And I’m not a giant fan of this dress, but I don’t particularly like pleats, and the color reminds me of my bridesmaid dress at my sister’s first wedding. Not a good recollection; I looked like teal cotton candy.

      • LAK says:

Yes the boys scouts counts. As I said in an earlier thread, I was beginning to imagine that she’d put that up as one of her charities.

On different note, I am not anti-kate per se, just anti-pr machine that presents her as something she is not. The sad thing is most people exercise critical thinking when presented with other famous people but not with her. Just lap it up, and if you disagree you must be jealous or a hater.

I always give her credit when she does something. It’s a pity that we praise her for stuff a 9yr old does when she’s all of 30yrs old.

  92. Lindy says:

YES! It’s win–hair and dress, both gorgeous.

  93. Sca says:

Like the dress, like the hair, but I’ve always liked Kate.

  94. LittleDeadGirl says:

Love the dress and hair on her.

  95. Maritza says:

The dress, her hair, her makeup, everything looks great!

  96. Amy says:

I absolutely love the braids weaved in! How lovely.

  97. Sasha says:

She looks incredible. STUNNING colour on her.

  98. Meg says:

    hair=amazing
dress looked a little cheap in the front. the back is beautiful though.
thank god she wore a solid color with no bird prints or something ridiculous like that. button problem still in full swing.

the shoes look like shes available by the hour. just b/c they are jimmy choo doesn’t mean they are automatically stylish, waity.

  99. NaomiCampbellsPhone says:

OMG her hair looks amazing! I’m usually pretty meh when it comes to her, but I have to give her this epic hair win.

  100. rosa says:

the colour of the dress does not suit her.
    she looks really old here.

  101. Lisa says:

    Love the hair.

  102. birdie says:

    the dress looks cheap.
    hair is great

  103. Onyx XV says:

Whenever I look at pictures of her, I find that I cannot notice anything other than how ROUGH her face looks. She looks easily 40, not 30. I wonder why that is. Bad genes, I guess, because Pippa looks pretty rough, too. They both look ten years older than they really are.

    • Nancy Blue says:

It has been said in several articles that Kate has the badly ageing genes of Michael Middleton with the apparently common looking, thin mouthed genes of Carole. Not a good combination unfortunately. Perhaps that is why she tries to cover her face with her hair most of the time.

  104. MacScore says:

1930s nightdress, anybody? HIDEOUS. good move with the hair, though.

  105. Sachi says:

Now this, I can get behind.

She looks beautiful and this is the closest she’s gotten to looking elegant and mature. Everything clicked together: hair, dress color, jewelry.

The hairstyle is flattering for her.

Her posture is still terrible and her face looks old, and this is just another fancy dinner disguised as “work”, but that’s for another day.

    Good job, Kate!

  106. LucyOriginal says:

    She looks gorgeous!

  107. dahlia1947 says:

She looks gorgeous! Love her hair and that dress is to die for! The color is perfect on her! This girl pulls off sexy yet classy so well!

  108. cynthia says:

Personally, with this latest appearance, I will officially give Kate the title “Duchess Barbie”.
Barbie is all about dresses and hair and shoes and jewelries and parties and posing for camera. She always looks happier in these kind of events compare to the visits to her patronage charities.

She volunteers 90 minutes of her time every month for the scout in Angelsey (in private) but from the pictures published by popsugar (http://www.popsugar.com/Kate-Middleton-Camping-Lupo-Pictures-23030206)she didn’t seem happy and enjoying her activity with the scouts. She appeared like a stranger who accidentally bump into a group of scouts when walking her dog through the woods.

Very different from the happy and smiling faces in her official engagements when photographers were around.

    • Nancy Blue says:

The Kate and Pippa road show have knocked the importance of HM The Queen’s Jubilee year off the front pages and out of people’s minds unfortunately.

Pippa apparently being fought over by US chat show hostesses. The end of the Monarchy is definitely nigh as many are now predicting since the Middletons got on board.

    • Sachi says:

Maybe this is why these “visits” are done in secret: Kate looks disinterested.

I think she goes to these volunteer and charity work as an observer, and not as an actively involved person. It’s a great cause to support, but it’s sad seeing a 30-year old woman do something a 10-year old would do, and a 10-year old would probably dedicate more time helping out than Kate who’s never been reported to have taken a cause seriously…unless it’s a fancy dinner gala and she could dress up. That was the extent of her charity work before marrying William: pay thousands of $$$ to attend a glamorous event and consider it charity.

Now she’s expected to do more than just show up in a pretty, expensive dress, these photos are not showing someone who seems happy about what she’s doing.

  109. Rachel says:

The dress is stunning, she looks really good but could do with a bit of weight. Love her hair though

  110. Rose says:

Haha, she could try sitting down for your button intervention…but all those buttons would dig into her back, so it’s probably best she stands 😉

  111. Linny says:

It’s one line of buttons and a bit of lace. Simmer down.

  112. jacquie109 says:

She looks like she’s putting on some weight FINALLY. She looks so much healthier! I think she looks great, hair and dress.

  113. Faye says:

    Absolutely stunning.

  114. muppet_barbershop says:

    What a pleasant surprise. Amazing.
